Great place for a late night treat! Schmackary's gives Levain a run for their money. They certainly have more unique flavors. All cookies are $3.75 but you can get six for $18. The Cookies & Cream cookie was covered in a creamy and light frosting. The cookie itself was crispy on the edges and soft on the inside. We had dinner this past Tuesday at 5 Napkin next door and were not impressed by the dessert. I saw Schmackary's right next door and popped in Before our show. The inside is super tiny but they have everything you need. Because it was so packed, I took a very quick look, ordered the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and paid $3.75. Upon paying I realized it was vegan but since there was a long line behind me, I took it and kept going. The cookie was then smuggled into the theater in my bra so that I could eat it after the show and that's what we did. They would have made me throw it out otherwise ;) So good! Having lived in Hell's Kitchen for close to a year, I'm a bit sheepish to admit that I finally just tried Schmackary's. To be fair though, I do live upstairs from Insomnia Cookies. Schmackary's is very, very good. Their cookies are crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, and quite balanced in flavor. I tried their chocolate chip and dulce de leche, both of which had a decent amount of saltiness to offset the sweetness, which I liked a lot. I don't know if this is standard operating procedure for them, but I arrived after 10 PM and they were offering buy-one-get-one-free. Bad for my waistline, but good for my wallet, and great for my soul. I'm a fan! read more

The chocolate chip is a good solid version with satisfying chunks of bittersweet chocolate in a dense but not hard cookie. The Hangover though is a unique cookie with just about every ingredient you can think of. It has oats, semi sweet chocolate, white chocolate, M&M's, butterscotch chips, raisins, sweetened coconut, walnuts, and sea salt & vinegar kettle chips. This place is damn good and, through the 10 years I've been coming here, the staff has been consistently above and beyond kind! The atmosphere is always fun and bustling. It's "lip-schmackin' good!" My friend wanted me to go to a famous bakery for their cookies, but I was nowhere near that bakery during my trip to the city. Glad that I got to snag these instead. I got to try... - classic chocolate chip: a saltier chocolate chip cookie that I am used to but tasty regardless. - funfetti: basically a sugar cookie with sprinkles. Not much to write about here. - red velvet: the icing was really, really sweet. Could not eat this without a glass of milk. - cookies and cream: tasted more like a chocolate cookie with icing. Also really sweet. - glazed pistachio: pistachio taste was very subtle. Unfortunately, too subtle for me, because I'm a big pistachio fan. These cookies were all soft and chewy and were a nice size. Impressively, they still tasted super fresh a week after visiting. That's a testament to how hardy they are (although I wouldn't recommend waiting for an entire week LOL), hence +1 star more to my originally awarded 3 stars. We couldn't help notice the line in front of Schmackary's as we walked to dinner in Hell's Kitchen. So after dinner we decided to see what the fuss was about and get dessert there. We waited in line but it moved quickly while we enjoyed the sweet aroma of fresh baked cookies. When our turn came we ordered a variety of cookies to share: Chocolate Chip, Funfetti, Maple Bacon, Cranberry Dream, and Ginger Rogers. They were all delicious and opinions differed regarding favorites. Honestly, it's so hard for me to decided but it's probably a toss up between Chocolate Chip and Cranberry Dream. The rest of my family loved the Funfetti the best. 14 year old was a little disappointed when we got to the counter they were out of "Yogi Bare" cookies (simply because he liked the name!) As soon as we paid they had them back in stock. Not a tragedy, but it would have been nice for the counter person to tell us they were baking and would be coming out momentarily. Excellent cookie. I especially liked the Hummingbird cookie. It captured the flavors of the Hummingbird Cake I love and make often. Bananas, pineapple, cinnamon and maybe even carrot. To me, it was a cross between Hummingbird and Carrot Cake. The cream cheese frosting made it perfect. I wished that I had gotten two instead of the Peanut Butter cookie. I'm not a big store-bought cookie guy, but these are fantastic. The double chocolate one (Chocolate Explosion I think) was my favorite, then Funfetti and then The Original (regular chocolate chip). They were moist even late in the day and kept well into the next day. Both times I went were within 30-45 minutes of closing and cookies were buy 1 get 1 free - YMMV - which makes them really cheap, but they'd be worth it at full price. read more

Schmackary's is definitely one of Hell's Kitchen hidden gems. This place has a lotttt of different types of cookies, as many as over at least 8 flavors in a given day as well as different featured seasonal cookies. The website boasts over 75 total flavors that rotate out daily. I personally love the peanut butter cup, dulce de leche, cookies & cream, hummingbird, fluffer nutter, carrot cake, and key lime. I'm sure as I try more, the list (and my waistband) will grow in time. I am an absolute regular here, and I'm afraid of becoming what I eat. In this case, if I were to come here everyday, I'd turn into a circular cookie shape with eyelashes....think Mrs. Pacman who wants to munch on all the available cookies! Well the secret is obviously out (and has been for a few years now).. This was my go to dessert place in the theatre district and I felt like one day ages ago its popularity exploded. Just walking along 45th in the City and stumbled upon Schmackary's heavenly baked cookies. The place is a bit cramped, but neat and clean. The glass displays were neat and clean so you can see all the varieties of cookies. The staff was friendly, and the service is a friendly, quick take out. They have a variety of cookies and each day there are different flavors. Today, I had a taste for an ice cream sandwich. You can combine any 2 cookies of your choice. I chose Key Lime and The Monster cookies with vanilla ice cream. I chose to eat inside the store at the window booth. All I can say is it was really delicious. I am not a fan of Key Lime, but I am not afraid to try new things. It had a sweet, salty taste that paired nicely with The Monster cookie and the vanilla ice cream. Our friends recommended these cookies to us during our stay in NY. We had to try them. And we did. We bought six - 3 chocolate chip, 1 pumpkin spice, 1 pick of the patch, and one butter pecan. The young woman who took and filled our order was friendly and efficient. All of the cookies looked beautiful, and tempting. We resisted eating them right away. We brought them home and savored every bite. The cookies tasted very good. They were sweet, chewy, and delicious. They were also costlier than most cookies we've purchased from bakeries. I think we could have baked these ourselves for less money, but it would have taken more time & energy than we had. They WERE worth the money we paid today.
