Not quite sure why you dummies are withholding stars for this place. Get any kind of bagel you want and have it schmeared with an overly generous portion of your favorite filling for as little as 4 bucks. My favorite is the flaming islander - mango, cream cheese and sriracha. I was skeptical just like you prolly are right now but it's got the right amount of heat and decent mango bits in there. The banana and nutella one rounds out the top 2, especially if you're like me and you like sweets just as much as you did when you were a little baby biatch. Service is very friendly. Get 6 or something and get one for free.

    Veggie delight on everything

A little pricey for bagels, but there are those days that I just cannot resist dropping by this truck parked on Penn campus! I am a big fan of their lox bagel and veggie delight - flavored cream cheese for the win! I love that everything is mixed in together so you can get all the flavors at once (and it's a little easier to eat). Oh and they have whole wheat everything bagels! I also see that they have started serving cold brew, which I must try sometime. They also take credit cards, which is such a plus if you never carry cash (because all your cash is spent on cash-only food trucks) like me. If you are carb conscious, they will scoop out the insides for you. I always think to do this, but haven't been able to get myself to ask for them scooped out because I have this love and hate (mostly love, which is the problem) relationship with carbs. Make sure to check their twitter for updates on where they'll be every day!

The flaming islander. Definitely tastes better than it looks. Cream cheese with mango and sriracha

I've had better bagels, but I've also had much worse. They make up for it with the crazy fillings. I love the flaming islander on a sesame seed bagel: plain cream cheese with mango and sriracha.

French Toast bagel (toasted) with French Toast Schmear (sans bananas, sub mango)

Oh Schmear It, how I love thee! Substantial flavorful bagels with perfectly hand mixed eclectic schmears. Thus far I have had the privilege of enjoying a French Toast bagel with the French Toast spread (sans bananas, sub mango) and a special of the day (Nutella, raspberry jam, strawberries, something crunchy) on a chocolate chip bagel. Call me crazy, but I love customized spreads! They take this perfect bagel in whatever flavor you choose (toasted or plain) and then slather it in a hearty portion of "hell yeah!" So yes, it's cold as the dickens outside, but every Friday you'll find me mouth breathing and shivering for a chance to put this sweet mother of God into my oral canal. *iced coffee with brown sugar cream is also highly recommended. **check their Twitter before heading over to confirm that nothing has delayed their arrival at LOVE Park.

Everything with chopped lox and tomato

Four stars for service and for the concept! 3 stars for the bagel itself. It was a little small (I thought) and a tad stale; I never order it toasted so that I can evaluate the freshness. The everything bagel had a nice balance of seasonings but I wish there had been MORE of everything overall! I like my everything bagel to be totally saturated in flavors. I got the everything with chopped lox and tomatoes for $6. It was enjoyable but I have had better. I realized through this experience that while the "mix-in" idea is novel, I do prefer to have the ingredients separate with large slices of tomatoes and fish. To each her own! Having said all of that, the guys that work here are an absolute delight. I would come again!

    In vegan heaven.

The 'Stuffed French Toast' bagel is great but at $5.50 a little pricey against more competitively priced bagel specialty places.

I like to get the veggie delight on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel or the stuffed French toast if I'm in a sweet mood.

Love seeing a positive face in the morning! I orders a BEC on sea salt rosemary-- my goto. Bagels were out in ~5 minutes, and it was a delicious bit to eat with coffee later on. The shop here is pick-up only, and on some mornings when I've visited especially in the winter, it's kind of painful to wait inside because it started to get a bit cramped. More just a heads up but not a piece of feedback though since their lot is pretty small. If you're grabbing breakfast in the Rittenhouse area, this is nice option for you! Just know that you'll have to take it to-go and eat it elsewhere.

The everything bagel seasoning was very good but the bagel was mediocre. The bagel was loaded with strawberry cream cheese which had good flavor. The others had regular bagels and had better reviews of the bagels. A couple egg sandwiches were described as being "good" and a plain bagel with cream cheese was given similar review. I'm not sure it's the kind of bagel shop that I would go racing back to at any point but it was decent. A bright light was how good the staff was to work with in terms of being friendly while placing an order. Probably brought this review from a 3 to a 4 based upon the staff interaction.

When ordering coffee, I'll let them know what I want (drip coffee) with whatever kind of milk (with heavy oat milk enough to change colour) and sweetener (with sugar please). Then you let them know any sides you want. I may or may not be saying it a bit quickly, because I'm half awake, and running on auto pilot, because I've lived in the Northeast for so long. The absolutely delightful lady behind the counter got it all recorded, fired, and sorted as and when it was coming out of my mouth. Confirmed everything, collected my payment, and we kept it pumping. As soon as the coffee was ready, called me over to grab it, because it was chilly and rainy while we waited. When one of the items I was ordering was taking a long time, the staff let me know that the item was taking a while longer than expected to finish cooking. My food came out perfectly done. Also, when they pass you your food, they confirm how many things you're ordering to make sure you get all your stuff. This operation is efficient, fast, and friendly. It's inexpensive for what you're getting. Coffee is excellent. Bagels have that snappy exterior, and chewy insides. Hash browns are crisp and piping hot. Coffee is rich and dark. I went to Middle Child a few weeks ago just after 3, only to find it closes at 3. Today I returned, around 1, and there was a good crowd there having lunch. I ordered the Surfer, and the Hash Brown Potatoes. The Surfer is Middle Child's most popular sandwich. It's made on a Ciabatta bun, and has a thick layering of tender, lean, House Turkey breast, with melty Swiss cheese, arugula, blueberry chutney, and Duke's mayo. It's hard to describe just how delicious this sandwich was. My biggest concern was the Ciabatta bun - it's not one of my favorites, as I've found them to be tough and difficult to bite through. My fears were quickly put to rest after the first bite! The bun had a slightly crispy exterior - and when I followed through with my first bite, the tender, soft interior of the Ciabatta was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it complemented the thick savory Turkey, arugula, chutney and mayo! It was one of the best Turkey sandwiches I've had. Now, if that wasn't enough, don't forget, I ordered the Hash Brown Potatoes. It said Hash Browns on the blackboard, see attached picture, but these 'weren't your Mama's hash browns'! They are described online as Latka'd Hash Browns. They are thick crispy squares that combine a potato pancake latke with a hash brown texture. The interior reminded me of my mother's potato kugel, which I still reminisce about. In one word, those fried crispy potato squares were outstanding. It's 'a must try' and goes so well with the Surfer! Last, but not least, the Limeade! It was so refreshing! Not too tart, not too sweet... just right! I'll be returning to Middle Child in the not too distant future!
