And since most of us are humor-deprived in our daily lives I genuinely​ appreciate their efforts. You can work at one of the tables or rent a space if you need privacy to talk on the phone or work on your computer. I got their homemade hummus plate which was really delish. After I ate the veggies, I finished the last of the hummus with a spoon. It had a very nice, smooth texture. The latte with extra hot coconut milk was really good. Every time I've seen something about tHis place online or walk past it I think "I have to try this place". And I am so glad I did! So cool! This place is huge, there is a ton of space. I love the patio area. We sat by the little fountain outside and it was so nice and relaxing. I was seriously craving avocado toast and all the options sounded delicious. I got the farmer one with chili flakes, feta, and cucumber. It was the perfect flavor combo and I loved the crunchy cucumber slices! I also got a honey lavender latte with oat milk. It was absolutely delicious. The lavender taste was super subtle. Also my latte said "blessed" on it which is adorable. I stumbled upon this place by luck and I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful outdoor setting. The gates were intricate and the inside was decorated with tons of brilliant green plants with a water decoration. Tons of open seating and the inside was also refreshing. I tried a tiramisu latte which was also delicious. It was one of their signature lattes and their sizing was enough to satisfy me. I plan to return so I could sit outside and enjoy the weather. It was a very nice place to sit a work. Plenty of seats but not all are near an outlet. I got a chai latte which was a bit sweet and still good. There were some solids collecting at the bottom so I don't think it was mixed too well. Also the plastic cups kept leaking every time I tried taking a sip which was annoying. They have a wide variety menu with many healthy options. I ordered the oven roasted bowl which had doodles, asparagus, bell peppers, mushrooms & artichokes. I assumed since it was oven roasted it was going to come with chicken but it did not. So I went up to the table to order a side of chicken and the manager heard me letting the cashier know and he was so kind and did not charge me the chicken. Now this is customer service!! What a great place in Old Town Scottsdale! It is a coffee shop, internet work space and bar (in the evening) all in one! The menu is perfect- little breakfast, lunch items and a few dinner entrees. I finally had a lazy weekend! Have been enjoying travel and new spots wherever I go, but was glad to be back at my home base for a weekend to try out some new spots here. Schmooze had been on my list for some time and the weather and free calendar made it an ideal day to go. I called ahead to see if they would take a reservation. They don't but assured me they would be able to accommodate 2 people at our planned arrival time. It wasn't super clear where to go to secure a seat. We didn't see a hostess stand but found our way inside and asked the baristas the protocol for seating. Jess at the coffee counter was quick with a smile and direction for all of the options we had for seating. Since it was still mid morning, it wasn't too hot to enjoy their beautiful patio. And, it is beautiful. It's open seating and you can order from the website from your table or order from the counter inside and take a number to have it brought to your table when ready- which is what we decided to do. Easy. Our food arrived in a timely manner and everything was accurate. The portions were fair for the price and it was plated beautifully. I ordered the salmon avocado toast with a side of scrambled eggs and a chagaccino to drink. My dining partner ordered the burrito and a coffee. It was all warm and nourishing. The burrito looked to hold its own. Both in presentation and form. The tortilla looked perfect, not soggy, like breakfast burritos can sometimes be. We ate, enjoyed the weather, the soft hum of other guests as they enjoyed theirs and sunshine. It was a little southern oasis in the middle of old town. Being from the south- it was like going back home a little. I highly recommend this spot for a weekend brunch with a friend or family member, a weekday business meeting or even for just working remotely from a nice spot. I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is lovely, and the service was quick. The food was uniformly disgusting, and clearly reflected a cook not trained/or not caring. We are not particularly picky eaters. Breakfast sandwich. Soaked in fake butter flavor, like really over the top, almost "cured" in butter. Avocado toast - would have been good except covered in yellow, withered arugula that should have been thrown away at least a week prior. Way beyond what should be served. Aside from arugala was fine. Side of scrambled egg. Cooked several minutes past palatability, rubbery and salted beyond recognition. I got to Schmooze around 9:30am and sat down with the coffee I had just purchased, like I do multiple times a week here... 30 mins later *in a very disrespectful tone, Tony the owner? came up to the table I was sitting at and demands me to move to the back so the customers spending more money could sit at a nice table outside where I was sitting... He didn't even ask if I had friends coming or ask if I was getting food. Once my friend got there, he noticed...and he followed her to the counter to make sure she ordered something? He was so rude from that time that he asked me to move and until we left. The barista behind the bar rolled her eyes at the guys statement to me and told me to stay where I was at. He then proceeded to bug my friend and I the next hour. He asked me what time zone I was in for work, he asked if I was ordering food, finally I go "I was going to order food until you were incredibly disrespectful to me" and he goes "I don't need your money" so we packed up and he followed us out and he waited at the entrance(trying not to cause a scene) and told us that we were banned. I have had 30 + DMs saying the same thing about this man I even called the business to ask his name and the girl on the phone said it happens often. The girl was upset as an employee to see this happen so often. I'm sad, I loved coming here every week but I would never support someone that treats another human like that. Attended a casual evening reception at Schmooze in connection with a local wedding with drinks, appetizers and hot-table food (tacos). The outdoor space is very pretty at night and was perfect for the party, service was decent, the drinks were nice and strong and the apps and food was, for the most part, fine tasting. Unfortunately, within hours after leaving the party and through the night, both my wife and I developed severe gastro distress (the unmistakable signs of improper food handling and/or preparation) which lingered with us for several days. Chef Tony Hamati is the owner at Schmooze. He's a greedy, off putting, misleading, overcharging, rude, sellout. He falsely boasts how unique his restaurant is being one of the only co-working breakfast environments in Old Town however this is only the case for the days of the week that is most convenient for his personal agenda. Over the weekends, Tony stands outside the Schmooze gate's like a prison guard to ensure no guest of his average / overpriced breakfast bring in their laptop or bag. He rudely informs you about it himself before you even put your name in if you happen to have a backpack on. Imagine if someone just had a Diabetes insulin backpack on...he would make an extra fool of himself. Tony knows his breakfast offerings are average overpriced omelettes that are nothing too special. So obviously his personal agenda is to get the Oldtown tourists out of the door as quickly as possible over the weekend to get the most profit. I wouldn't have an issue with this business model if he wasn't priding his website/restaurant/public videos over being a unique co-working space. I have had the omelette enough times to know its quality is nothing memorable and I find much more flavor in Olive & Ivy's breakfast across the street. Tony's workers are frequently slightly rude and in a bad mood (which I wrote in a review a few months ago), likely because they are working for him and his insane rules. Not to mention no free refills on coffees here. Tony himself wrote his own biography on Schmooze's website and the following excerpt is taken exactly from his own words.... "Schmooze is unlike any concept he has been a part of before. Schmooze opened in 2018 by Launch Real Estate Founder and CEO John Vatistas. John wanted a co-working space that he could enjoy every day. Schmooze was to be a place where his agents could come to collaborate and "schmooze" clients to seal the deal, hence where the restaurant got its name. Tony was originally brought on to consult for the restaurant and was quickly brought on as a partner. With such a strong passion for the restaurant, Tony took over full ownership at the end of 2021." Until changes are made, stay away from Tony and Schmooze and instead make the drive out to Matt's Big Breakfast where you can find excellent food, excellent prices, and the nicest staff. Hopefully Tony removes his excerpt from his website boasting about the work space and instead maybe writes a disclaimer that it's not always a workspace. I can go to any other breakfast place in Old Town over the weekend that is crowded and pull my laptop out....but only Tony's advertised workspace breakfast spot will have an issue with it Nice ambiance and a nice working space is what this place has going for it. Horribly managed with little regard to customer service, evidently. Maybe put a big sign up in front about your weekend laptop rules Tony as I see others have said the same. You can find YouTube videos of this guy boasting how Schmooze is the perfect small business of Old Town support the locals yet being an Old Town resident myself, I can see he actually clearly prioritizes the tourists from out of town. Don't trust people's words....especially when they go out of their way to represent their business as something uniquely specific as he did. I LOVE the fact that after writing this review is see 5 OTHER 1 star reviews posted in the last hour!!! Tony is a sellout, lying, con artist. I likely would have an easier time bringing in my laptop bag to one of the most exclusive restaurants in Las Vegas like 'Delilah' at the Wynn Hotel than I would at this phony front. read more

My friends and I were looking for a good coffee place in Scottsdale and were impressed with Schmooze. I got a regular iced latte and my friends ordered drinks from the secret menu. I wasn't able to find that menu online but if you ask for it, they are happy to let you know what they have to offer. Regular iced lattes are always hit or miss. This was a hit for me. I've returned several times and have taken different friends with me each time. They all loved the place and their orders. All the greenery outside provides great photo opportunities! It almost feels like you're entering a mini resort when you walk through the entrance. It's a great place to study or simply hang out with friends. I haven't tried the food but I may try their rainbow bagel or avocado toast next time I visit. read more

However, I'm much more productive when working at a coffee shop than at my home office, so I decided to return to Schmooze after not being here since the pandemic started. I am blown away! Service was quick, the tables are well spaced on the patio (I did not go inside so I cannot attest to that), and the new app allows you to order service to your table without having to wait in line to order or even go inside!
