Wondering around and saw this place in the water and decided to give it a try. The hostess was very nice and gave us the low down You order at the bar and they bring your food to the table. We ordered a dozen oysters and the fish and chips. The oysters were so fresh and tasty. The fish and chips were large chunks of haddock in a very light coating with minimal spice but just perfect. The cries weee like the double breaded fried ones crisp and good too. The picnic tables are close to the water with nice views of the bay. Decor is open bar T the water style but just fine. My only complaint to a perfect meal is the ice tea tasted old or maybe it was the water they used.

We found this little gem on our travel route, exploring Pemaquid Point Lighthouse...after we explored the Lighthouse area (which was phenomenal) we doubled back to enjoy a late lunch. The food was wonderful, staff friendly and views amazing (we even watched an eagle and another bird battle in the air over a fish...the eagle won). Only reason for 4 stars is they needed more seating area for shaded seating and we felt were a tad pricey for the portions! Otherwise, highly recommend for great food and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere!

What a great place! We loved sitting inside with a nice breeze and a view of the bay. We ordered the lobster stew which was the best lobster stew I've ever had! We also ordered the large salad which was plenty to share. We also had the crab cake basket. The potato salad was awesome. Not mayonaisy at all. They make it themselves so I highly recommend getting the potato salad. The coleslaw also looked good. The crab cakes were so so. We had wanted to get the fresh oysters but they were out because we arrived too late at lunch. Loved the staff and the ambiance

We stopped in before an oyster cruise. Place is hopping and the sun is shining! We ordered our food and grabbed a table on the water. Drinks are wonderful and our food arrived quickly. I ordered crab cakes.. filled with crab! The fish basket disappeared on my husbands side of the table rather quickly! Nachos were huge and delish! Tourists love this place but so do locals.. it's a must!

Come here for a sundowner, wine or a beer and sit at the patio to watch the boats and tourists go by. The nachos are good too. But really, you are here for a drink and the view. Bail by 7pm or the bugs will eat you alive.

Honestly I would have given this a three even if they served me literal sand for food, as the venue is on a great view of the Damariscotta river. The food was honestly just okay, but it's worth stopping to at least get a drink on the deck.

A very nice atmosphere. Love the outdoor bar. Always crowded on weekends during tourist season so prepare to wait. Food is good. Fresh seafood. A bit pricey though. Beautiful view of the river.

We initially came for the view. Stayed for lunch, and I looked at the reviews. I have NO idea why they are so bad! We ordered, fried clams with sweet potato fries - EXCELLENT, and lots of both! We also ordered fried Calamari, and lobster stew. Both were fantastic. The stew was tasty, with tons of lobster, the calamari, cooked to perfection. So happy we stayed! Did I mention the view?!!

Great location, nice staff, terrible food. My advise is to have a drink, enjoy the view, then go someplace else to eat.

We started with onion soup, which was OUTSTANDING !! It wasn't too salty, which is often an issue but not here. The broth was a perfect blend of onion and beef flavoring, just enough cheese and croutons but not overpowering... it was divine. It might've been the best I've ever had. We also got bread service that offered lightly grilled French bread. I don't know what the deal was, but it was so unbelievably tasty, and it was so soft, too. I don't know if it was the texture or the bread flavor, but something was different... that made it so amazing. Better than usual. I wanted to eat more, but I knew I was already getting full, so we left most of it. Drat. For an entree, my husband got the Atlantic salmon in a lobster veloute with farfalle and ratatouille. I tasted it, and it was excellent. Such great flavors. I got the cioppino, which had scallops, shrimp, and haddock in a herb-infused tomato sauce. I was a little shocked because it was spicy... good flavor, but spicy, and I wasn't expecting that. I wish the waitress would've told me ahead of time, but she didn't. I ended up not eating most of it because it was a bit too much for my palate. I hate wasting food, but the truth is I wouldn't have finished it anyway. I was already full from the onion soup and 1 piece of bread. For our celebratory dinner, we also split a dessert. I had read this place is known for their blueberry pie, which we were very interested in getting. Soooooooooo glad we did because it was EXCELLENT... and yes, it was a la mode... with vanilla ice cream. There was some crystalized sugar topping on the crust, which really added to the awesomeness of this dessert. We hit pay-dirt here. This meal was the highlight of our trip to Boothbay Harbor. I hope we will be able to return to this lovely harbor town because we will make a beeline to dine at Thistle Inn again. Too bad we live so far away. This is a wonderful dining establishment, and they made our 20th anniversary even more memorable !!

We decided to chance it and our server assured us that the summer pasta could be made vegan no problem. The food was great, the drinks were great, but when we got the bill we noticed the server had put a truly rude note for the kitchen, describing her substitution and finishing it off with "stupid vegan people." If you can't accommodate dietary restrictions and substitutions that's fine, but there's no reason for nasty messages. It's the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced at a restaurant.

We arrived about five minutes early and were directed to the harbor view seating towards the shore, second door outside. We were greet by our server warmly, and got some fresh still water...nicely chilled. The menu has all options, but we were here for fresh seafood. My wife had a nice glass of wine and I tried Amayas Choice, a lemon spritzer with a fresh squeeze on top. Refreshing! We started our meals with a half dozen oysters on the half shell and an order of the fish cakes. Both were fresh and delicious. Especially the oysters!! Next up came our entrees. I had the Clam Pasta and my wife enjoyed the macadamia encrusted local haddock. Both dishes were prepared perfectly, my only regret was no fresh bread to sop up the delicious butter sauce. My pasta was delicious, and the clams burst with flavor. I sampled the haddock and it was perfect as well. It was accompanied by locally grown zucchini and soft mashed potatoes. We left room for dessert and enjoyed a wonderful slice of orange sour pie. The ginger bread crust was to die for, and it was topped with fresh whipping cream and a zest of orange. This is the dining spot on the island if you want fresh fish in a slightly sophisticated atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

We had 23 family members and close friends coming together from near and far, and Mike and his team made the entire evening absolutely seamless. From the very beginning, Mike was incredibly helpful with planning, suggesting a menu, coordinating the event, and allowing us to rent the entire space. The staff was outstanding--warm, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. The food was exceptional, and the setup was perfect. The appetizers were arranged in a way that encouraged guests to mingle, reconnect, and share stories, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It was exactly what we hoped for as cousins and lifelong friends gathered to celebrate our mom's life and spend time together. The evening exceeded our expectations and set the perfect tone for the entire weekend.
