I'm sure this is a fun place to visit, but this was the worst food we've had in Key West. Both my shrimp and my husband's seafood were seriously overcooked, to the point where they were borderline inedible. The coconut shrimp was supposed to come with mango salsa. I don't know if they accidentally gave me the wrong sauce, or if it's supposed to be a sort of horseradish ketchupy concoction, but it certainly wasn't mango anything. So go for the drinks, by all means, but eat dinner somewhere else (anywhere else) first. read more

We lucked out here on a lazy Saturday afternoon, snagging just about the last open table, great service right near the bar, and some really well-made drinks and apps!! Relax... You're here to soak up the wonderful Key West vibe, and if your servers take a little longer than you're used to, just sit back, enjoy the music, which was great and LIVE while we were there, and try not to think about having to head back to the cold, harsh Midwest in a week or two!!! Came to this place for the oysters, view and booze. They have live music which is pretty neat but they don't really enforce social distance between tables and customers. There are some space but, I might be bad at gauging distance, definitely not the "required" 6 feet. Luckily we chose to seat at the upper deck which was less crowded at the time. We ordered assorted dishes to try: Oysters on Half-Shelf - definitely worth ordering them and they are reasonably priced, ended up getting 2 dozens. Conch Fritters - not good at all, mostly ate the batter. Didn't get to chew on any Conch. Drunken Shrimp - it was ok, expected to be hot but it came cold. Calamari Rings - it was bad, it was not crispy but rubbery and the batter would just fall off. Conch Chowder - it wasn't good but that might have been my fault. Was not aware that there were no big pieces of Conch to chew at at all. The only ones I could find was chopped up so fine you could barely see and apparently this is how it is supposed to be. Do not order one from anywhere. Key Lime Martini - it was good, so good that I ended up ordering another one and tempted for a triple threat. Ok, here we go.....My rating of this place has hovered between 2-4 stars over the last 10 years. This year we were rescued from a miserable server and a certain 1-star review by the hustler Shawn. Thank you, Shawn!!! We almost left before you noticed us languishing and offered your help. Thanks to you I'm upgrading this year. Give this guy a raise. To boil it down: the restaurant is outdoor-dirty (maybe just dirty) but the location is one of the best in the area. The beer selection one of the worst in the area but food is decent. Service is hit and miss. I actually should say the food we enjoyed yesterday was quite a bit better than we remember. I attached a photo of my salad which was 100% fresh and tasty. We routinely order the peel-and-eats which are hit and miss but this time a hit! I encourage you to try this place once while you are in KW. Its basically an institution. We came here for the first time looking for a good, fun, waterfront, divey place to have a few drinks and maybe grab a bite to eat. We were not expecting a whole lot on the food end of things but we were not disappointed. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back four or five times during our stay in Key West. Unfortunately, on the second to last day we were here everything got shut down thanks to the stupid Coronavirus so we weren't able to go more times, but we would have if given the chance and we will certainly be back. The atmosphere, decor and vibe is 100% waterside dive. They have live entertainment and a fairly decent sized bar and rustic dining area (rustic as in dirt floor and wild chickens running around underfoot). Perhaps the most surprising thing was the food. My two main go-to foods are seafood and chicken wings (at least in this type of setting). When I saw their raw bar and shrimp selections I automatically knew I would try them. My only hesitation was on the wings. I know it sounds idiotic, but I am somewhat of a wing snob. I realize that there are only so many things one can do with a deep fried chicken wing but some are just better than others. Some are too greasy, some are too rubbery, some are poorly seasoned, some have that freezer-burn off taste, some are tiny... It sounds stupid, but it's hard to find a really good bone-in wing in some places. Getting back to the seafood, I couldn't decide between the raw oysters or the shrimp so I got their combo which has both. Everything was fresh and delicious. I could have eaten my weight in them. Over the various days we were here I came back and ordered various different combinations of seafood and had dozens of shrimp and oysters. Delicious. As for the chicken wings, they offer them either seasoned with their Caribbean rub or tossed in their "secret" Buffalo style sauce. Our bartender tipped us off that "to do it right" that you should order them with the rub and get the Buffalo sauce on the side. Nailed it. These are seriously some of the best wings I've ever had (and I've had more in more places than I care to admit). They are crispy, dry and tasty on the outside, thanks to their delicious rub, but tender and juicy on the inside. I had several batches over the two or three days we came here and they were always consistently spot on. I'm not sure that my prior personal favorites will ever be able to measure up again (which is sad because it's a 23 and a half hour drive from our house to here). The service was good if a little spotty. The first day we were here we had April who was absolutely awesome. She was attentive, kept an eye on our drink level and came around frequently to make sure we were taken care of no matter how busy it got (and it gets busy in here). There was also a tall sort of lanky server with bushy curly hair under a cap and about a couple weeks worth of a beard going. He was absolutely great too but I didn't catch his name. The second time we went back the service was just meh. It felt almost as if we were invisible and we had a tough time getting anyone's attention over the course of the afternoon. The third time April was back and things went back to normal. The bottom line: If you're a dive bar sort of person and enjoy a totally chill, unsophisticated, grungy atmosphere with live music and surprisingly good food, this is the spot. I would have given it 5 stars but I tend to use those sparingly so as not to dilute the rating and the service was a little spotty. read more

This place is such a old town gem. As you walk the boardwalk past million dollar boats, you stumble upon this unique island vibe place. You walk in, half of the restaurant is covered with umbrellas, some with a tiki shelter and there is a room if you want to get away from any fun at all. It's a seat yourself place and we were lucky to have such an attentive waitress (Melissa/Marissa, sorry few too many coronas) regardless we she awesome. We started with oysters and shrimp. Some of the oysters were the size of my hand. No joke. I ordered the blackened Mahi-Mahi Melt which was covered in Mango Like sauce and cheese. I was warned it was messy but I didn't care, totally worth it. My husband ordered the Pirate burger, which consisted of grounded up prime rib burger with cheese, lettuce and a whole bunch of goodies. Delicious. We stayed for a few drinks because the band was extremely entertaining and played such a great variety of songs. From fun island songs, Whitney Houston to Bruno Mars, they played it all and engaged the audience perfectly. This bar/restaurant has a very Key West feel, with outdoors seating covered by colorful umbrellas. There was a musician performing when we arrived and we decided it looked like a good place to hang out for a while. Sat at the bar on an unusually breezy evening. I really liked the vibe of this place! Live music and a very minimalistic beach bar feel. I had the fried shrimp platter with jasmine rice, french fries, and mixed vegetables and a couple of cold Landsharks. All the food was really good. The jasmine rice was really bland but once I amped it up a bit with the jalapeño hot sauce served table side it was good to go. Another great lazy old town bar that backs up right to the harbor. We chose an area that had dirty tables, but we bussed it ourselves and had no problem sitting there. After 15 minutes we got up and asked if anybody was going to help us. Wow, I don't care if you are in Key West or New York. No bartender should be so rude that you actually want to leave after she waits on you. After sitting at the bar for 25 minutes waiting to be served. A little girl(which I call her because that how she acted like a little brat). Finally approached my group of girls. She knew we were sitting there and never came to me she kept skipping over me. I knew this trick but let it go. She finally came over and from the start was rude and mean. I was actually scarred to order. I was told as I left it was because we had a few beautiful ladies with us and the bartender is petty. Anyway after I ordered she rudely slammed my beer on the bar making half of it bubble out. After I said something she accussed me of some nonsense about only tipping 50 cents like my friend before. Now I just came back from the bathroom I have no idea what happen before. She then grabbed my $18 change and took it as her tip threating to kick me out. I've been a bartender 25 years and even when people are mean to me I still never acted like that. I literally came in ordered and left after being treated with such disrespect tops 25 minutes. If someone before me only gave her 50 cents it was to much. Don't care if it's the coolest bar on the island. Which it's not. I'll never return or ever give that place a dime employee such a rude babartender who won't wait on women. I'll also let everyone know not to order from her if they go there Shame on her. I used to really like this place, but tonight my party was treated so offensively by our waiter before we even had a chance to order, we decided to get up and leave. We sat upstairs and our waiter began Immediately confronting one of our guest because she was choosing to wear a mask. He smelled of alcohol as he grabbed my shoulder he brated her for what seemed like a 5 minute rant about our government, the CIA, Alexander the Great, and all types of conspiracy theories. Dude was unhinged. She was a guest, not bothering anyone. Who is he to question her right to a wear a mask? After he finished his rant, he wanted to know if the table behind him had recorded him, which they told him that "no" to which he told them that they should record him next time. So if you want to go to a restaurant with a drunk crazy ass waiter who does not respect others, this might be the perfect place for you. I doubt I will ever return. read more
