First time here. I live in Chicago with every hamburger place. The crispy hamburger patty is amazing. The bun was large and fluffy. A perfect ratio of bun to burger. Schoops your doing better by including fries but you need more work. I got a boul of potato soup, a great burger and a huge amount of onion rings for a fraction of the cost of schoops and the quality was far better. read more

As far as Schoop's goes, this is one of the best locations I've visited. Seemed much cleaner than some of there other locations. The burgers were good as always, and our shakes and malts were even better. They were busy so our initial waitress said she'd be right over. I typically would go to this Schoops in Hobart, every time that I go to St Marys in Hobart to see my cardiologist. On September 16, after my stress test, I went to Schoops and ordered to carry out. Got in the car and got home, and my burger was overcooked very dry and I was disappointed, and so I called. I actually called the next day because I got busy around the house and forgot. I spoke with the manager, who said that they would replace the meal but that I would have to come within 30 days; why? Well, as busy as my life is, I literally forgot about the 30 days. First of all, if you sell someone substandard food, you should not put 30 days or any other amount of days on it, because you don't know what the circumstances are of people who patronize your establishment. I had a return visit to my cardiologist today for my results and was very happy about my results and decided to go to schoops and redeem my replacement meal. The waitress could not find me, then said, I see it, but it's past 30 days. I said, I'm sorry I'd forgotten. It was 5 days past the 30 days. The manager said "I'm sorry, but the owners will not allow us to replace the meal if it's over 30 days" . I'm very disappointed and will never patronize this establishment again, and I suggest that if you decide to eat at a schoops, that it would not be the Hobart establishment, because I just feel like that's extremely rude.Bad food is bad food and should not have a limitation on when your meal is replaced. I live in Dyer, too far to come to Hobart ( w/in 30 days) for a burger and fries because the cook gave me a dry overcooked burger. Please go somewhere else for better service! read more

Schoop's is the regional favorite for a 50's style diner. Best known for their burgers, shakes and floats which are all very good. The single burger is a 1/2 pounder and they are delish. Add some bacon to make it perfect and if your starving, go ahead and try the 1lb double burger. The service here is always fast, friendly and accurate. What else could I ask for? The only downside to me is that it is more expensive than most of the fast food locations so for some it may be a place for a treat rather than the regular stop. If you passing by Hobart or a local who hasn't been here, get on over and give it a try. Enjoy! read more

I had a cheeseburger and fries. The food was very good. I like the way the burger was cooked with crispy edges. My server was great. There was another server how who twice loudly complained about the music I played on the jukebox. I m sorry that she doesn't like James Taylor or the Eagles. It made me feel very unwelcome. Schoop's has a fun 50's diner style. The waitress was very nice, despite our party being tired and cranky from driving all day. The Mickey burger is good, and the fries were fine. The burgers are smash-burger style with super crispy edges. I didn't realize that ordering a burger with everything meant sweet relish as well. As far as food goes this place has food. The food at any Schoops in Northwest Indiana is relatively the same, so by any means, the food was the only good thing about this place. The staff was yelling in the back area of the restaurant. Then the staff continued to gossip while cleaning the tables around ours and I couldn't even hear the conversation I was having with my partner. Our waitress was nice but not extremely attentive. She kept staring at herself in the window when over at the table. She came by to ask how we were doing and didn't even stop at the table or make eye contact, but was walking past and fumbling with her watch on her wrist, which I can only assume is an Apple Watch. Brought us full cup refills as we were leaving so we took to go cups and then didn't receive straws for the cups because she had already took our cups and plates. Now despite these hiccups in service the waitress was nice, and kind with us. So I'm not upset with her, but the worst interaction came following. We went to pay, and who I can only assume is the manager (Hannah might be her name if I heard whoever called for her correctly) had an attitude and was slamming receipts around. Very short in response and very rude. There wasn't a "have a good night" or "come back again", just a short fuse and RBF. I really don't appreciate being treated like shit when we just spent money at your establishment. This place could use some employee training. I've managed a restaurant so I understand having bad nights, but yeesh. As we left both me and my significant other agreed that we won't be comping back, and if we want to go to a Schoops then Valpo or Portage (where we frequent) is probably our best bet. STAY AWAY the Hobart location needs some serious work. The staff isn't properly trained so expect not to get served in the order that people come in. Next it doesn't even look like the other locations so if atmosphere matters to you then you will be disappointed. The burgers which I got 30 min later, (of course everyone got theirs before us) was Luke warm at best. Appetizers (nacho fries) come out with the food which was cold. They wanted to charge me for a new batch of fries. Forget about getting a refill. The staff will say it's busy but there was about 4 tables filled.
