I've been to Schussboom a few times now and it's such a great spot. The food is great and exactly what you want. I love that they do brunch on weekends now! Beware there may be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it if you have a drink while you're waiting!! I got their chorizo breakfast burrito and it was sooo good. Had a mimosa while I was waiting. I also got a boozy coffee and it was good, but I wish they had some dairy-free creamer options like oat milk. We also got their banana pecan waffles which were to die for! I love that they have so many seating options, indoor and out. The servers and cashiers are so nice, and I loved seeing the owner out and helping out! So excited to have this new brewery open in town! There are 4 different seating areas that I found-dining room with kids area, bar, patio and an area upstairs-so there is plenty of room if you have a larger group. They offer a great selection of local beers and will be adding there own brews soon. Love that they offer an individual sampler size-usually you have to purchase an entire flight for this. We had the Med pizza and the Buffalo wings-both delicious! I'm hoping that in the future they will add to the parking lot because I think they will be busy! read more

We've been eagerly awaiting the opening of this family-friendly brewery, and the wait did not disappoint! We ordered a few beers, pizza for the kids, and wings and fries for hubby and I. Super easy to go to front, place your order and then take a seat where you want. We sat near the kids area, and had a great view of the restaurant. There's a 21 and over side with the bar, and then a huge open area for the rest of the indoor seating. There's also a large patio area upstairs, overlooking S. Virginia. Pizza- ordered a small pizza- 1/2 cheese 1/2 Hawaiian- a little greasy for my taste, but the kids enjoyed it. Wings-we ordered two kinds (sticky and dry rub) sticky had a great sauce and some green onions on top, very yummy! Dry rub were very crispy and had a good amount of meat. Overall, very good! Fries- we ordered the SF garlic fries, and they were amazing! Perfect amount of crunchy, garlicky, fluffy goodness! Kids area- my 7 and 11 year olds loved hanging out in the kids area. It has some Discovery museum items, which I thought were great! Perfect space for them to hang out while the adults finished our beverages. Overall, a wonderful addition to South Reno!! It is always a fun and exciting time when a new brewery opens in our region.  "Schussboom", meaning "a person skiing downhill fast", is getting ready to throw open its doors, and certainly has the energy of a fresh, new business, ready for a great summer season. Occupying what for years was the old Shop N' Go, they've done a positively spectacular job renovating and expanding the building.  The décor, too, is fun and quirky, with lots of art themed around skiing and the mountains, which makes sense given their company name.  There is plenty of indoor seating, but also two big outdoor patios, as well as a brand-new roof deck with really nice views of the mountains.  One neat feature is a corner of the building set aside as a play area for younger kids, complete with a few toys, and seating that directly overlooks it so parents can keep an eye on their little ones.  But there is also a "lounge" area next to the bar, meant only for people aged 21 or older, with large, roll-up windows to let in fresh air on the pleasant summer evenings. One thing that sets this spot apart is that there is no wait staff, per say.  There is a centralized location where you place your orders and pay at the register, and then when your order is ready they buzz your name over the intercom and you pick it up yourselves, finding your drinks at the bar, and the food, condiments, plates, and utensils all at a kitchen window.  The staff that were here (cashier, bartenders, bussing staff), were all very friendly and courteous, and our orders were served up promptly. The food itself is focused on pizzas, wings, sides, and salads.  My group went with a Wild West Pizza, which was quite good indeed.  It was topped with steak, fried onions, and BBQ sauce, which was just the right amount to be flavorful without becoming drenched in it, like so many other such pizza places sadly do.  I was also eyeing the awesome-looking plates of poutine pretty enviously, I tell you what.  Looking at the menus, I would not call them cheap eats, but easy enough for a party to get a good meal without breaking the bank, and you are getting some real quality food in the bargain. Now on to the main event, the beer... As of writing, there are none of their own beers on tap, with most of them still fermenting and are a few weeks out from being ready.  This was a little bit of a letdown, but there was a great consolation prize.  All the beers that were on tap last were local brews, every single one from Reno-area breweries.  I think this qualifies them as the most locally-focused taphouse in the area, right now.  In any case, I am very much looking forward to when their own brews show up and we can see what they've been concocting for us all to enjoy.  In addition to beer, there is also a full bar, and there are signature cocktails to choose from. To wrap things up with one last, important detail; let's talk parking.  The lot, I think, is a little small for the building size, and you need to be VERY careful coming in and out along this portion of South Virginia Street, as people are flying by very fast and it's a one-way exit.  Further, the lot shares its space with three other businesses, two of which are technically drive-through, so be very aware of other vehicles. All in all, I think Schussboom is off to a really great start, and I wish them all the best with their first season in Reno.  Lastly, big thanks to Michael T. for the invite to the soft opening, and to the staff and owners for putting on a fantastic evening. Pretty solid new brewery. They don't have their own on tap just yet but they are coming soon. They do have plenty on tap and some quality food choices of pizzas, salads, poutine and wings. Let me first tell you how to order when you come into the place. You come in the main door and you see two spots to place an order. Order your drinks and your food, leave open a tab if you want too. The drinks will be handed to you a handful of seconds after you pay and the food you will go grab from a different pickup window once they call your name. No wait staff, no numbers, just a loudspeaker that says your name. Super simple to deal with and enjoy a meal. The schuss poutine is pretty good. Tons of cheese and the tots were nice and crunchy. Could use a little more sauce on them but they were quality. The beer prices are pretty normal and the food maybe a couple bucks too much but the setup is nice, the bar area is fun and there is plenty of space for a group. Enjoyed a family dinner while during a road trip and enjoyed great fried chicken (special for food week) margarita pizza, meatball sandwich and chicken wings. Service was a little slow but they were busy on this Friday night too. The cashier/staff were very friendly and helped make some great drink recommendations. The restaurant is clean and has a modern/rustic decor that is welcoming. There's indoor and outdoor seating as well as cornhole on the back patio for all to play. On Monday, I stopped into this new Brewery in Reno that all my friends had been raving about! I walked in and it's order at the counter and grab a seat at the tables or bar area! Super cool atmosphere and the people are extremely nice and helpful. The pizza looked amazing and so my husband and I went back to watch the Wolf Pack play. We ordered a pizza very different from the traditional pizza, but out of this world delicious and the Popeyes Salad very fresh and loaded with toppings. They let you taste the beer and it's super good too! My friends were spot on about this new brewery the downside I wish it was in Sparks by the Marina!! read more

During a saturday outing my friend and I were trying to figure out where to go eat. She suggested Schussboom- the new place that opened in South Reno. Okay! I had no idea where this was, but what a cool building. It took us a minute to navigate the set-up and ordering, and within a matter of a few minutes the line doubled quickly. I ordered a Berry Cider, Make your own small pizza, and Salt and Vinegar tator tots. The deal breaker was the Cider and the tator tots. I'm not sure how they craft the flavor in there but they were amazing. The Cider was great in that I could taste the berry flavor but it was not overly sweet. We actually hung out long enough to take the cashier's advice and order the lemon cider too. The berry one had our vote though! My friend ordered a pretzel and waited for a while, and with much anticipation came disappointment. She stated it did not have much taste to it and the portion for the value was not worthwhile bummer. Luckily there was an endless mountain of tots that I shared. Upon ordering my second drink I realized they had a drink menu posted to one of their registers (this was after paying). I think if this is highlighted somewhere more visible my friend and I would've loved to try an actual drink. I noticed how clean it was and they had a busser girl constantly cruising around picking up dirty items. The restaurant is huge, plenty of seating and I felt like we were at a ski lodge. I loved how it hit a certain time (6:00 p.m. maybe?) and they had a disco ball and it became a party! The music was cranked up (good music) and it totally changed the atmosphere but in a good way. Docking a star after being gas lit by the owner! Original reviews... I had some rave reviews by a previous coworker about The Forager, who said it was an amazing pizza and raved incessantly about how great it was, I looked i up a while back, saw the price and didn't want to pull the trigger, today I did, I'll admit I was hoping this pizza came within 80% of the expectations set, but my overall experience was a lot of crust, and I don't remember tasting any mushrooms, if wild, they should be strong and overpowering, it just doesn't deliver 12" is $24 and it's one of the pizzas the crust bubbles up and it didn't feel nor taste like more concentrated toppings in the center, I would never order this pizza again, nor considering trying another, I tried the cheese curds, they were okay, $8.50 is okay price, but not good enough for a return visit, I was just telling my uncle, I'd rather eat the curds at A&W, those are better than these, I eventually break the bad news to my old coworker, it's been a while, maybe she doesn't sing it's praises any longer. If you are looking for a drinking location, it does fit that bill, my guess is the food is a compliment to drinking, not a star on it's own, worthy of a special trip just to eat! read more

This is my second time here and it was great! We got the sticky yaki wings, tatanka wings for dinner. We got a complimentary side of garlic fries because we checked in once we got here. The Yaki wings would have to be my favorite wings to eat here. They have a mild, and flavorful teriyaki flavor to them. The Tatatnka wings had a great Buffalo flavor to them. The garlic fries were delicious. They had a moderate garlic flavor to them, they definitely could have more for sure! The ranch isn't super ranch flavored, I wish it had more flavor to it in general. The beers were all delicious, and very much so worth it. It is definitely a family friendly atmosphere, as well as a 21+ atmosphere as well. Can be great for a date night too! We come here a lot. We stepped outside of our normal pattern and got breakfast. We got the chorizo burrito and biscuits and gravy. The burrito was huge. It was delicious. All the ratios were right on. It was unctuous and just super tasty. The green salsa was the perfect pair. I saved the other half as it was truly two meals worth. My husband had the biscuits and gravy. Being from the south he is a bit critical of this dish. His comment was that it was the best in Reno. Great job guys! read more

We love their pizza! A perfect crisp thin crust and because we're vegetarians, the Forager pizza is delectable. There is something about the combination of mushrooms, leeks and goat cheese with a tasty and tart balsamic vinegary concoction that makes this a perfect Fall and Winter combo. I looooooove this brewery! Always rotating selections that will please any beer connoisseur. Definitely a great place to get a flight or two.... Hehe The food is pretty basic and nothing to rave about. They announce your name over the speaker and you gotta go grab it. I wanted the poutine but didn't want the meat on it and they wouldn't discount it so I just got some tots. Not my favorite selection, but it seems to please most patrons. I definitely come for the beer. And will continue because this is my favorite brewery in town! Good thing I live on the other side of town or I would be in here more than my liver would appreciate. Haha also, the flights come on local, handmade ski lifts. Like how freaking cute?! The inside of this place is precious and well thought out. We were unsure of which beers to try so we opted for a flight, the first four left a lot to be desired and we were worried about our choice. We ended up getting a second flight to try another round. Those were DELICIOUS. I will update my review with the names of those brews. The restaurant has a "ski corner" for kids. Our 7 year old was throughly entertained while we waited for our food. We ordered the garlic parm tots, the Thai chicken pizza and the sticky yaki wings. We don't have any pictures because we gobbled it all up so fast. The food was IMPECCABLE. This place is amazing. My family and I cannot stop thinking about it and when we will be going back again. We ordered a lot of food and everything was perfect. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This restaurant is more of a self serve style. You can order up at the front or from your phone and they call your name when food/drinks are ready. I honestly liked it that way. I was easily able to grab any items needed like forks or condiments or refill our drinks on demand without waiting for someone to come to our table. The staff was also great at seeing when we had plates or trays that needed to be cleared off our table to take those away quickly. The vibes there are very nice. Very friendly and lots of open space for eating with additional seats outside. We ordered the pepp rally pizza. We also ordered the tatanka wings and the bomb hole grenade wings. We got the Buffalo chicken fries, the garlic Parmesan tots and the cheese curds. Everything was so good. We also got a lot of their desserts, we ordered the apple kuchen, lemon Italian butter cream cookie, a brownie sundae and a special dessert they had for Father's Day. All desserts and food I highly recommend. I didn't get any pictures of the desserts as we were all too excited to dig in and enjoy. What a great place to get some great food and drinks! They had 1/2 off margaritas today (Monday) so I got the spicy margarita which was very spicy but so good! I also ordered the Forager pizza which was so yummy! It's hard for me to like most pizza because I'm from Chicago but this one was really amazing. The leeks and goat cheese really did it for me. I had a few hours to kill, and guess what? Schussboom was near by!! Atmosphere - When I lived in Reno I would visit the location when it was a tiny mom and pop convenience store. It is not that place anymore. Very modern industrial vibe with a hint of local sports. Drinks - I normally go with pints, but because it will be a while before I am back I went with a flight. Today I had the Alley-oop and The Dank Season both were IPAs, then went with Hanalei Passion a fruit beer. I finished my flight with Black Mac Nutz a stout. The beers were all solid but did none wowed me. Service - My bartenders were awesome. I ordered a flight and they were always checking in on me. First time here. This place looks beautiful on the outside. We walked in and realized that you order from a counter. Since there is a food & drink menu on the wall by the cashier, we weren't able to get in line until we looked over what we wanted. A couple of people got in line before we did. Only took a few minutes to get to the cashier, who was very nice. After you order you get a buzzer. Your drink order is placed by the cashier and your name is called for you to pick up. Some tables were not wiped down but we came during lunch. It didn't take more than maybe 15 minutes for our pizza and fries to be ready. You have to go around the side to pick your food up. If you got a lot of items, you have to make multiple trips or more than one person to get it. We got the Tree Hugger pizza. Seriously, the best pizza except for 1 thing...the veggies were placed where we got areas near the crust that was more of just cheese. Wish the veggies covered all the pizza. It was cooked to perfection and the crust was amazing. The fries were good, however, when you got down to the bottom, it was too soaked in oil. The beer was delicious. All in all this place is a solid 4. We world definitely come back for the pizza and beer and maybe try something new. I do recommend to give them a try! read more

Delicious food and great beer! Each time we have been here, we have been impressed! Their menu is pretty diverse with great flavor combos on their pizzas. The beer selection is great from fruit beers to IPAs. They also have wine and cocktails if beer isn't your thing. Service is always with a smile. The staff is nice and accommodating. The Thai wings were big, spicy, and delicious. The pretzel was gross idk why they bother putting it on the menu. The turkey apple Brie sammy was delicious and the homemade focaccia was perfect.
