Amazing scones and customer service! Jessica was very kind and helpful. She gave samples to our party for free.

I stopped by here yesterday morning for my morning coffee. While traveling we try to hit up a new local coffee shop every day and on this morning it happened to be Bits and Bites Cafe. This shop is located in a strip mall right off Keahole Street. The inside of the shop was clean and brightly decorated but a bit smaller than I was expecting. Even so, they had a display case filled with a variety of scones and a coffee bar in the back. After looking over the menu I chose an iced Hawaiian honey latte along with a lilikoi scone while my dad went with a salted caramel scone. Our order was ready within about five minutes and we were quickly on our way. I first tried the lilikoi scone and really enjoyed it. It had a nice sharpness that was balanced with just enough sweetness to keep it from being overpowering. My coffee was good as well. The coffee itself was deep and rich and while I picked up a bit of sweetness at the start, the Hawaiian honey really came through on the finish. My dad also really enjoyed his salted caramel scone. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. We both enjoyed our scones and I thought my coffee was solid as well. read more

Just a little sip... Did you know you can skip the long line a Costco in Hawaii Kai Towne Center and hele on over just across to Bits & Bites Cafe where pretty much everything is house made. This super tiny nook is known for the scone and they don't stop at just a couple but a whole showcase filled with over a dozen variety though my Hawaiian time got me there just an hour shy of closing time so pretty much there was nothing left...which is great for this small biz as she told me just a couple of cheesecakes and coffee are available as I wasn't feeling quite that asked if they have iced tea which she did and suggested Lilikoi as she said that they use real fruit and natural ingredients is great to know and it's green jasmine tea which is nice and fragrant. The vibe in there is quite minimalist as there's only room for a couple of peeps to browse but if you know you know and just wished that they have some seating as well to enjoy not just the yumminess the vibe of this lovely area but will definitely be back for those scones as sound quite amazing and did see they have a matcha one as well...lol! Bits & Bites is a tiny, takeout only cafe in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. They specialize in scones and flavored Basque and Japanese cheese cakes. These scones are dense and cakey with a firm crust. The actual scone is barely sweet, with most of the flavor coming from a punchy glaze. We tried a Strawberry and a Guava Cream Cheese scone with an Iced Latte. One of the nicest parts of the shopping center is getting to sit by the water so that's where we headed. I enjoyed the Guava Cream Cheese more because of the chucks of cream cheese, but my partner thought the Guava was too tart. The Iced Latte was a dark roast, with a little less milk and more coffee; a good pick me up on a hot day. Overall, worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood, but come early if you want the full selection, by 10 am they were already out of some flavors. read more

The owner of Mama' Nita Scones that was established in 2019 and located in Kailua, retired in 2024, and a new owner who had a passion for baking, Jesssica Cai, took over the business. Jessica renamed the business to Bits & Bites Café, and moved to HI Kai with its soft opening on 8/18/24, while offering the same scones and also her own scone creations, hot/cold coffee, tea, cocoa, lilikoi soda, and fresh fruit teas. Her scone creations were highly praised for their quality, texture, and unique flavors. I tried the strawberry and lilikoi scones and enjoyed that real strawberries and lililkoi juice that were used in baking process. While the scones were on the smaller side, you could taste the authenticity of the fruits, the firmness and crunchiness of the outside, and its moistness and dense interior, without being overly sweet. The scones were tasty; however, I found the scones to be pricy at about $6 each. The higher price may be attributed to Jessica's hand-mixing of every scone and the use of high-quality ingredients. Popular flavors sell out quickly. Online ordering the day before or call-in-orders can assure you of specific flavors that you want. Jessica not only bakes everything on premises, but also personally handles the selling of the scones in her shop. She was friendly and enjoyed chatting while sharing her passion of her scones. I had planned to try and order one scone, but her sales talk tried to convince me to buy two scones instead, and which I did. Hours of operation are: Tues to Fri, 7a to 3p; Sat 8a to 4p; Sun 8a to 1p; Mon closed. Located across from Costco and next to Diagnostic Lab in the former Taco Del Mar spot, free parking in the private lot is available that is shared with other businesses. It may be difficult to find parking when Costco is open. The store is clean and small, as it is take-out only. While the scones are flavorful, I am in no hurry to rush back to purchase more due to my perceived value of the scones based on the high costs. I'm happy for Bits & Bites Café for its success over the past 1 1/2 years and wish them continued success for many more years. read more

I love that Bits & Bites has moved to Hawaii Kai. Their previous location in Kailua was out of the way for me. The new shop, across Costco, is everyday convenient. These scones are nice sized. The exterior is firm and crumbles slowly, and most of them have a pretty piped glaze. The inside is moist without being wet. I can enjoy these with a warm or cold beverage - and yes, scones are better enjoyed with a beverage. If you want to give someone a nice morning surprise, Bits & Bites Cafe is open at 7:00am. And they have a box that will hold 4-6 scones. A little something for everyone. read more

Stumbled across while heading to Costco. They are directly across the parking lot of Costco. Lots of parking. A very small hole in the mall (wall) haha. Scones were good. Cheese cake was also good. Maybe I'm not a big scone and cheesecake fan but I (and this is just me) thought is was kinda dry. I guess all scones are generally dry. My coffee drink was amazing tho. I finished the coffee before I could finish the scones and cheese cake. The service was great. They were very helpful and patient to explain all the flavors they had. So happy to visit the new(er) home of Bits and Bites. Formerly located in Kailua town. Now more conveniently (for me) in the Hawaii Kai area sharing the same parking lot as Costco. Located right across from Costco and inbetween Verizon (around the corner) and Diagnostic Labs. Jessica has managed to keep the quaintness of Kailua in Bits and Bites while exploding her offerings of delectable scones, cheesecakes, lattes, and other iced drinks. She does this all while greeting her customers with warmth and aloha. Today enjoyed a salted caramel scone straight out of the oven, oozing with goodness and a honey latte. Perfect compliment. Also took home a few fruity scones: peach, cranberry orange, and pineapple. Still has the very popular organic blueberry and blueberry cream cheese scones, lilikoi and lilikoi cream cheese scones. Looking forward to returning to try the black sesame scones. Or grabbing my favorite lilikoi soda or butterfly pea iced tea. read more

Scones are probably one of my fave things, so couldn't resist checking this place out. Arrived at around 9:30am on Sunday and some items were already sold out. Started off with an iced Tiramisu latte - yum! We were just going to order a couple of scones but ended up with a box of 6 because we wanted to try so many of them. Ordered lilikoi cream cheese, guava cream cheese, jalapeño cheddar, earl grey, matcha white chocolate and coconut. All of the favors came through for each of them but my faves were the guava cream cheese and coconut. Kiddo's was the earl grey and hubs liked the jalapeño cheddar. The owner was friendly. This place is a small shop we were directed to almost immediately after arriving in Hawaii! These scones are AWESOME-- great texture and flavor, and boy are they popular! They sell out of some flavors as early as 8am sometimes, so we hauled ourselves here twice as early as possible to get scones of all flavors for everyone! Choc chip is very popular amongst my family. Others we ordered twice/really liked and would get again: banana choc chip, black sesame, ube, blueberry, & lemon. I've also heard the lilikoi is amazing! The service was prompt and all the scones were handled carefully so we could tell everything apart when we got back. The first time we had the basque cheesecake (guava), I split one with my husband, who's not much of a sweets person. He ate his half and was just staring at my half that I hadn't eaten yet. "Was it ok?" I asked. "Might have been the best cheesecake I've ever had," he grumbled. Welp, now we're back for more. All loaded up, and we are NOT sharing The ube cheesecake is soooo good (maybe call ahead for availability)...that crusty top is incredible. The owner is super nice!! The owner is so sweet and took the time to tell us about her business! Everything is handmade and organic which I really appreciate, which is why you know it is fresh. She really makes it a point to use good ingredients in the process of creating her pastries and you can really tell when you try them. The scones were one of the best I've had. The Kona Coffee one in particular was delicious and somehow I was able to get the last one. Perfect ratio of crunch and softness. The lilikoi soda was amazing and is one of her highlight drinks from her shop. This was super refreshing and I loved it. The puree she uses is fresh from the fruit. The cheesecake was also a winner. It's a quaint little place. Coffee good, Scones good, Cheesecake good. Should I say more? The service was fantastic. I literally felt like I went into my moms or grandmas kitchen and got food. Such a cute little shop and nice owner. Came here a couple times. Scones are so delicious, not too sweet and not dry. So many different flavors and options to choose from, they have sweet and savory. Scones are about $5 Just needs working on their lattes. We got a Hawaiian honey latte and a tirimisu latte. The tirimisu latte was good with a cheese foam. The Hawaiian honey latte was made in an interesting order, where the honey was first followed by ice and cold milk the the espresso. This caused the honey to get hard and not dissolve in the latte. Since it was just a plain latte on the first sip you could kind of taste a little burnt on the espresso. Once the ice melted and the honey was able to stir and mix it was really light on honey flavor. Mixed the drinks together because the Hawaiian honey latte just wasn't good. Lattes were about $7 each. Not sure if wed order drinks but Definitely will come back for the scones. read more

Bits & Bites Cafe is situated in the Hawaii Kai Towne Centre across from the Costco Food Court. I believe they were originally located in Kailua. They specialize in scones - also providing cakes and coffee beverages. Now, there are a surprising number of bakeries/cafes that offer excellent scones and this is another establishment that I can add to my scone short list. Scones aren't everyone's preference as they're dense and can be a bit dry. At Bits & Bites, the scones are dense, as per usual, but not dry - at least they weren't too dry to my palate. They offer savory scones as well. I tried the Ghost Pepper & Shiitake scone. The owner assured me it was not too hot; she uses one per batch (of 20) and they were fantastic. She may want to put two ghost peppers in a batch, not sure if I wanna give that feedback Lilikoi Scone was also very good. Traditional scones so it may not be for everyone. read more

Stopped by this cute cafe after a visit to Costco Hawaii Kai. The name caught my attention. At first I thought it was a cafe for coffee and snacks. I walked in and the owner/baker Jessica greeted me with a smile. This place sells scones and cheesecake. Beverages are also available. I asked Jessica what scone would she recommend and she quickly replied, the Lilikoi scone. The scone costs $5.50 plus tax. It's moist and flavorful. Honestly- I'm a coffee snob and Bits & Bites is THE BEST coffee you can get on this side of the island. Jessica is also such a joy and pleasure to chat with every morning. I've gotten to know her just from being such a regular since discovering her unreal coffee, and am so grateful for her small business moving to Hawaii Kai from Kailua! This was my second time going to Bits & Bites Cafe in Hawaii Kai (by Costco tires). The first time I visited, everything was sold out! These scones are in HIGH DEMAND! Second time I went, I had plenty to choose from. [Location] Parking is free and plentiful. I'm sure during busy hours, it can be a hassle. But I'm thankful for the expansive lot. I don't think there's a restroom inside. Very clean simple interior. Don't recall if there was indoor seating! It's more so a takeout place. [Customer Service] The owner is super friendly, helpful and very funny! She knows how to sell, that's for sure. My boyfriend and I went in to try maybe 1-2 scones, and left with 4. [Scones] I tried the organic strawberry, lilikoi, cheddar & bacon and jalapeño & sausage. The scones were delicious! Homemade quality. Beautiful to look at, lovely to nibble on. My favorite was the strawberry! Love the icing/glaze on top. The only reason for the 1-star deduction is the price. 4 scones came out to about $22! That's quite pricey, but I understand there's a lot of labor involved--plus demand is high! This is definitely a once-in-a-while treat! Stopped by the try some scones after reading all the positive reviews online. The scones are baked fresh daily, and are more cake-like than scone-like, but still delicious! It's approximately $6/scone, which is a bit steep, but there are so many interesting flavors! There was a promo that day for a free coffee with the new matcha or ube cheese foam, with a purchase of 6 scones or more. Of course, I got 6 (I initially went in wanting 2 scones...but this was a sign! I had to try more!). I got the ube, lavender, earl grey, blueberry, and lilikoi. My favorite was the lavender and ube - the lilikoi was a bit underpowered. They were already sold out of the matcha - so I definitely want to try that next time! Finally, the cheesefoam was on point! Super creamy and sweet! The parking is a bit hectic as the lot is shared with Costco. The owner is super friendly and chatty. No seating inside, but it's very clean and bright. After hearing so much about a new scone place by Costco we had to try it for ourselves. At 9am on a Saturday they were almost sold out so you know it must be good! Located by the Costco tire center around the corner from Verizon. The bakery is quaint, clean with a nice menu display. There are so many different scones and had to try different ones just because they all looked so yummy...chocolate chip, lilikoi, red velvet, blueberry. The scones itself appear larger and round. These scones are not dry but perfect with an almost cake like but not texture. The owner works really hard and you can tell she puts a lot of love into her baked goods. The service is quick. They are open 7am to 3pm. Scones are almost $6/each. But..it's good to treat yourself! read more

Starbucks is closed for renovations so I needed coffee really bad. I checked out Bits & Bites and ordered tiramisu iced coffee and it was delicious and strong. I found Bits and Bites on yelp because I was looking for somewhere to pick up something for a potluck at work that would be open early so that I could pick it up on my way to work. Bits and Bites had great reviews on yelp and who doesn't love scones? Well I bought 2 dozen for about $75. It was a bit pricey for a potluck contribution, but the scones are so delicious. My coworkers who live on the west side were grateful because they had heard of bits and bites, but had never been since it's soooo far lol. Bits and Bits is located across from Kailua middle school. I thought parking along that main road might be restricted, so I found parking on a perpendicular street, but it ended up being unrestricted in the mornings.... So just park in the metered stalls right in front of the store. The interior is kind of small, but I think most people are taking their scones to go anyway. It feels pretty homey and cute. The lady behind the counter was really nice. I'm indecisive and she made me a box of 12 assorted scones. She was very friendly and asked where I worked. The other lady who was behind the counter had just made cookies for a student graduating from the school I work at. It was nice of her to share her photos of the cookies she decorated. She's so talented!! I also got a lilikoi scone and a Hawaiian honey latte for myself. The lilikoi scone was delicious, soft and not too sweet. The latte was perfect as well. I'll definitely be coming back in the future! During the potluck I tried the cranberry orange too and it was perfectly tart. I decided I like scones after experiencing Bits and Bites' scones. So the owner/baker closed her Kailua shop and moved into Hawaii Kai. It's next to the DLS lab place in the Hawaii Kai Towne Center (where Costco is). The move is great for us cuz we live nearby! Same tender scones that I remember -all handmade by the owner/baker. She had variety in the case and I went with the lavender and lilikoi cream cheese ones. She also had slices of Japanese cheesecake and Basque cheesecake. The difference was the Japanese cheesecake was lighter, the Basque more dense. I went with the Japanese cheesecake this time. I'm not usually a cheesecake fan because of the denseness and the sweetness but this was very very light and not overly sweet Perfect! She also had whole cakes for sale. Really like both scones-they were light and tender and not super sweet. The lilikoi flavor was enhanced by the cream cheese and the lavender was really good too! Kinda pricey but worth the quality. Moved to Hawaii Kai, right across from Costco and next to Diagnostic Labs. So, lots of parking, unless you're coming during peak Costco hours. But, if coming when they first open at 7, you'll have your choice of spaces. And now, a reason to come out this way to do an early morning blood draw and then reward my fasting About a dozen scones on their menu, with some not-so-common flavors, that it was hard to choose just 1-2. So, got a box, which fits 6, and still hard to choose. Went with blueberry (to taste test it against other places), lemon cream cheese, lilikoi cream cheese, sun-dried tomato & mozzarella, black sesame, and red velvet. Scones are crisp on the outside and perfectly moist in the inside, with some being slightly drier than others. If you like a traditional dry throughout crumbly scone, this would not be it. However, if you're just going on flavors, these scones are on point. I loved the savory tomato mozzarella and the black sesame, which really came through. A few things of note...the scones with cream cheese are 1/2 cream cheese on top. I would've liked cream cheese cut throughout for every bite, but had to settle on 1/2 my scone without or small bites from each side. Also, even though a good size, scones are pricey, close to $6 each. All in all, happy to see Bits & Bites on this side of the island. Will be back to settle my scone craving. read more
