Reserved a table for a $900 minimum. Which was no problem. But they charged us up front which I thought was weird. In addition - when I purchased another bottle above and beyond the minimum - I tipped the servers 15% because there was already a 5% surcharge on the bill (so 20% in total). The waitress asked me if there was something wrong. Seriously!?!?! So I need to tip 20% on top of a 5% surcharge?!?! You're pissed about a 15% tip when you literally did nothing. I had the worst experience here and will definitely NOT come back again! Heads up: if you are looking for a place with good food and attentive service, this is not it! If you want to be charged for something that you didn't agree to, this is the right place to go! This was the second time I visited here and will be the last. There was something in my drink so I had to ask the bartender to remake it and my friends didn't enjoy their drinks, too. Can you believe that the drink tasted exactly the same with or without alcohol? And we actually went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered a dessert for her and asked for the candles. You would think that even though they didn't send the dessert complimentary, at least they would say something for the special occasion. Instead, there was no gesture at all. And finally, we got our bill and obviously I didn't feel comfortable leaving a generous tip based on the "service" I got that night. And once the charge has been finalized, I got charged more than I agreed to. I called several times trying to get an answer. First time the reception took down my information and said they would get back to me after they investigated into it. Second time I asked for the manager directly and the reception told me that they were too busy to answer. This girl took down my information again and promised she would ask the manager (his name is Gram or something like that) to get back to me and guess what, no answer. I tried to call after that but no one picked up. I went to scorpion bar for happy hour with some coworkers and ordered the braised beef quesadilla. It didn't come with any sauce (guac, salsa, or sour cream) and was pretty dry. I had to order the sauces as extras on the side, whereas most Mexican restaurants would provide at least one of the above. On top of that, the quesadilla was pretty bland. I came here Saturday with my parent's after months of telling them how much they would love this place. Whether it's for drinks or some food, i thought they would enjoy it for sure. Finally got them in to try and had the worst experience ever. We ordered drinks and everything was fine until we ordered our food. Just the Worst Experience Ever! My friends and I were looking forward to a great night celebrating the holidays and our December birthdays at this new hot spot. A reservation for 12 people at 8pm made about a month in advance. We arrived on time and the hostess told us it would just be a few minutes as they were resetting the table, no problem. +20 min later, I inquire again and with a little annoyance she told me that they were just switching out some chairs and should only be a few more min, hmmm OK. + 20 min later, still nothing (time check - it's about 8:40). I go to ask the hostess and a manager comes up to me with nothing but big attitude. Almost yelling at me that the party prior to us left late and they were resetting the table and that if it was my group they wouldn't have asked us to leave either and goes on in the same vein. I take a breath and a step back and explain to him this is the first I'm hearing of this and not sure why the hostess has been lying to me. Again more attitude and annoyance from him. If it hadn't been a Saturday in December with 12 people, we would have walked out ASAP. Reeling a bit from this exchange, a different manager comes up and is more apologetic. I said to him I just wish someone had just explained the situation when we first game in almost 45 min ago...hey I get it, sometimes large parties are slow to move out. All they had to do is let us know and maybe say hey we're sorry and why don't you grab a drink at the bar on us. He agreed they handled it badly and invited us to grab a drink at the bar while they actually reset the table this time. In the middle of getting drinks the 1st manager with the bad attitude, comes back and tells us the table is ready and that we should come NOW! It was almost laughable, we told him we would be there once we were done getting our drinks. So we finally settled into our table which I must say was tight for a party of 12, and they did send over two apps on the house. Our waiter Jason was a breath of fresh air. He knew the situation, offered his apologies and took good care of us and facilitating our orders as expediently as possible,even though he also had another party of 12 and some other tables. So Kudos to him! Needless to say I will probably never go back - there are way too many good places in Boston that value their patrons, provide good customer service, and are respectful. read more

Came here last Friday for drinks and chips and guac and everything with the exception of my margarita was underwhelming. The chips used were cold, had zero salt, and tasted borderline stale. The guacamole was just smashed avocado served with two cherry tomatoes sliced in half on top; literally that is it. No seasoning, no onion, no discernible flavor just smashed avocado...why??? My husband ordered a margarita, no salted rim, it came with salt on the rim and appeared to actually be the wrong drink (that erroneous salt should have been saved and used on the chips!). The one positive thing about the experience was the Cadillac margarita I ordered which was solid so two stars for that. With all the Mexican options in the Seaport this place just really needs to do better. read more

I've been to a few other Big Night establishments, and had a decent experience. But their new Scorpion Bar in Seaport is definitely on another level. The atmosphere was great. Bartender Dominique noticed me waiting after less than a minute, and slung a delicious cocktail to me 30 seconds later. Found a bar stool eventually and ordered food. Wings were great. They said there were no seats outside so sat us inside. I looked out and more than half the tables were open. If I could give a negative star I would. Beyond the worst service and experience I have ever had at any restaurant in my entire life. Me and my two girlfriends show up at 7:45 on a Saturday night. We ask for a table of three. The snotty hostess says, "Sorry we have no tables available." I asked if we could be put on the wait list and the response after a long pause was, "Sorry we are double booked all night." The best part of this is if you looked around the restaurant about 10 tables were open. We walk to the bar and decide to look on Open Table for open reservations. Shockingly an 8 pm reservation was open! We book it, walk over to the snotty hostess a few minutes after walking in and tell her we are checking in "even though you are double booked." She tells us our table isn't ready so she can seat us at a high top. Ok that's fine. We are taken over to a side bar at the window that's not even a real table. It's literally the place where people just throw their coats. We ask to be seated at a real table and the girl "has to check." We finally get to a real table. Wow thank you! It then takes about 30 minutes to be acknowledged and the rest is history. The food and drink take forever. We ask for the check and the waitress drops the bill with our credit cards and no pen. I ask a girl who is walking by who looks like a hostess for a pen. She gives me one and literally stands over my shoulder waiting for me to finish so she can get her precious pen back. Sorry, just trying to write in a tip for this nightmare, awful experience. She then, while waiting for her pen, tries to take my glass of wine away which is still half full. Wtf?! "Oh, you're not done with this yet?" No lady, sorry, I do want to finish my $14 glass of Cabernet. Clearly she couldn't clear the table soon enough. I actually said, "If you need your pen back this quickly please take it and tell our waitress we need a pen." Truly awful in every way. Snottiest, worst, rudest service ever. I will never go back. You know how sometimes you just want a really good margarita? Well the Scoprion delivers with a big selection of margaritas. I started with the coconut and then drifted to mango. Service was great! bartender was quick but courteous. Ordered some jalapeno raviolis and could have eaten more cause they were delicious. Even though I was there by myself this time, everyone was really cool and there was a great vibe to the place. We were forced to wait in line in the cold because it was supposedly full. 10-15 people left and we still weren't allowed in until the line was longer. We finally made it in and paid the 10$ cover per person. It was probably half full. They remove the dinner tables and turn that area into a dance floor but only a handful of people dancing. It has a very clubby feel with lots of bouncers but is a restaurant so it has a really weird vibe. Dj was very average. Came here with three friends for dinner on Saturday night. The place tries to be pretentious but doesn't attract a classy enough crowd to set such high standards. After expressing I was there for a dinner reservation and being met with a little bit of hesitation I was let inside and then moved past another (pointless) podium to head upstairs. We were sitting for a very long time before we were finally approached by our waitress for our drink order. At that point, we were starving and ready to order our food, when we said that she walked away. Our order was not complicated: Three mixed drinks, an order of guacamole and three orders of tacos (two shrimp, one steak). After waiting a long time, our drinks arrived. Two of them were wrong (we think) either that or they were just bland because we couldn't distinguish between the mango margarita (sweet) and the Paloma (sour). Maybe we they were just regular margaritas? Our guac never came, and our meals were wrong. The manager came over and fixed the wrong one. We finally got our guac half way through the meal and our drinks got fixed, they still didn't taste like what we had ordered. I think the drinks are just not that good. Our waitress was a little more attentive from that point but I had asked for water refills and never once was water refilled. (Rule 101 of working in a restaurant is that the water glasses on your table are always full). The frosting on the cake was when we asked for our bill and it was placed on the table and was just all wrong. It take someone who is not clued in to distinguish tables. ON top of that the table next to us was having a similar experience. The girl had some extreme allergies and had emailed management before asking if food could be prepared a certain way, they said yes and when she got there was told they couldn't. Unfortunately this place has so many problems with the kitchen the bar and the waitstaff. They all need to be trained on customer service and attitude. The only good service at the end was who I think was the GM who was apologetic and hospitable and took care of our bill but never in my life had service been so terrible and apathetic that the restaurant had to comp the whole thing. I hope that the staff can follow his example. I'll be taking myself to Lolita's instead. read more

LOVED the atmosphere here! Just happened to wander in. It's really a cute space. Me and some friends shared the pupu platter which had a mix of things-wings, taquitos, nachos-everything was good. When we asked why we couldn't sit at one of the empty tables they said they were " reserved". We ended up staying the whole night ... no one showed up for the " reserved tables". I can't believe this place has a low rating on yelp - my friends and I loved it! I've been a couple of times since the opening and have enjoyed my food and drinks each time. I also like the vibe of the place and how it switches over from dinner to more of a dance-y lounge vibe later in the evening, making it perfect for nights where you want to get dinner and then stay out for drinks and a little dancing! They have SO many tequila options (I feel like there are hundreds) and some interesting speciality margs on the menu. I personally like both the spicy marg and the French marg. As far as the menu goes, I have tried the Philly Rolls, Quesadillas, Chips with both Guac and Salsa, Buffalo Chicken Flautas, Chicken Fajitas and the NACHOS - really enjoyed everything I have had!! My friends' food looked good too. As some other reviewers mentioned, the nachos kill it because they actually layer the toppings instead of just dumping them only on the top layer. Also, when it's nice out they open up the windows so it has an open air feel. I don't typically leave yelp reviews but felt the need to write one for Scorpion Bar because I really don't get why the rating is so low. Go check it out!! read more
