Scotty P's dishes up an a'ight burger. It's a big 1/3 lb. patty, with shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion & mustard on a toasted sesame seed bun. Good ole Texas style. I couldn't decide between fries & onion rings so I got an order of frings, which is both. Way too much food for lunch. I'm not at all a fan of the onion rings, but that's just me. The fries were right down the middle of the road good. My one complaint is the size of their large drink. It's a Jack in the Box small & for a To Go order with a large tea, that's just not enough liquid. However, the star lost from that is totally recovered by the To Go parking spot & ordering window. Since the place was packed & had a line of about 10 people, walking up to an empty counter & placing my order made me oh so happy. The prices are just a tad on the high side, but this isn't a burger from the $.99 menu, so it's all good. Bottom line, a solid 3.5 stars & a great burger if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Scotty P's is the kind of place that you have high hopes for but in your gut you know it may not work out. It would appear from the outside that the burgers will be incredible.....big.....juicy....and well seasoned. Well....they are big but it doesn't go much further than that, sigh. Came here after leaving my daughter's flute concerto (she nailed it btw). With all the anxiety of performing in front of 200 people we were extremely hungry (not that I did anything but bite my nails). She wanted burgers so we spotted this spot and I immediately looked on Yelp to see what my peeps thought about good ole Scotty. Some good, some bad and no viable options closer so we decided to go for it. Ordering is pretty simple, look on the big board make a decision and go for it. Young lady at the counter was gorgeous and very helpful so hey I'm happy ;). Daughter and i got the regular cheeseburger and little man the chicken strips (his go to order when he is unsure). Turns out he was the only one who did well. Burgers were nice and big but flavorless, bread falling apart, meat unseasoned and just badly built (think Ke$ha's body). Google that at your own peril :/. Fries were forgettable but the chicken strips were pretty tasty indeed. I wont be back unless i just flat run out of options. Waaay too many better burger spots out there. read more

The default for a Scotty P's burger is medium well, so if you want it done less remember to mention it. Just going up a step to medium makes a lot of difference. I will also say that the crispy (Chris P) chicken sandwich is decent here. It's covered with a not-so-thick breading and comes out juicy and well seasoned, also seems fresher than most. Fries are good and crispy here, not the best I've ever had but for sure better than most any fast food or Fuddruckers versions. The rings leave a lot to be desired, pretty dry and bland. The salads here are great, I could do with not quite as much lettuce but its better than to have too little. The Greek or Chop salads (plus chicken) will definitely fit the bill. read more

I've eaten here 3 or 4 times over the past couple of years on visits to the area and their food and service has been very consistent. Atmosphere: This is a fast food/counter service place. Very casual but plenty of tables. They have a few TV's to catch a game on. You serve your own drink (soda or tea). If you order a milkshake (yummy) they call you up when it's ready. Tables and drink areas were clean as were the restrooms on my visits. Food: I typically get the grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings. The chicken is nicely seasoned and has always been good. The onion rings are standard- nothing special, good but not awesome. Their milkshakes are fantastic. I typically order a caramel milkshake from their "secret" menu. ;-) It's yummy!! Try it! Service: Service for me has always been friendly, but it's counter service. They call your name when your food is ready so you go pick it up yourself. I always ask for no whipped cream on my milkshake and this week they forgot and I asked them to just scrape it off (I simply don't want the extra calories, it's not that I don't like it). The guy asked "where are you sitting? I want to make it look nice for you." And he did and brought it back to my table. I couldn't even tell there had been whipped cream on it before! Scotty P's is at the top of my list of burger places in Plano (although I haven't tried Country Burger yet), for several reasons: 1) Their turkey burger is delicious AND comes on a whole wheat bun! 2) Wide range of burgers/topping combos available -- including crispy onion strings, YUM! 3) You can ask for your cheese melted. 4) They serve beer, wine, and Dom Perignon, if you're into that. 5) The fries are fresh, hot, and delicious, and the onion rings aren't bad either! If you like a good ol' charbroiled burger, this is the place for you! Stopped by after kids game and was fairly empty. Ordering is little confusing with options to get burgers in several different combinations. Several bun options but be warned, sourdough is bread, not a bun. Either way, the burgers were great! Saw several other tables with salads which were huge and looked tasty as well. Today was my first and last visit to a Scotty P's. The place was dead today... 4:30 on Super Bowl Sunday. I'm thinking... all the better for me because they can do a good job on my order and it won't take too long. I ordered a Harrington (Cheese Burger) with onion rings and a soda To-Go. The Dr. Pepper was not mixed correctly... the Coke was mixed a little better but not quite right either. The wait was super long. I am not sure what I was waiting so long for as I was the only person with an order in the entire time I was there. I considered telling them to forget it... then I finally got buzzed. Drove home. The onion rings were awful... overly breaded, bland and under done. They should not offer onion rings. The burger was cold, dry-dry-dry and overdone. Almost no cheese (I had to look for it because I definitly didn't taste it). The tomatos were mushy and flavorless. The lettuce was old and limp. They have decent burgers and fries. Their siganture hot dogs that are split down the middle and served on a hamburger bun are something out of the ordinary, and should be tried . Their crispy chicken salad is very very good, and their ranch is amazing. Now i always ask for the chicken on the side, and no tomatoes or onions. They use red onions, and they give me terrible heart burn, also i dont like red onions flavor at all. Also it may be weird but i dont like my cheese melted nor lettace warmed from the chicken which is why i order it on the side. They CANNOT seem to get this right. I always end up picking off the chicken, onions, and or tomatoes out of it. I then have warm melted cheese stuck to my lettace, onion flavored lettace, or tomatoes. At the establishment it is either deal with it or look like a douche and return it, wait for another to be made while the rest of my party eats. Its not that big a deal there, as i can get it all off rather quickly before it marinates and messes up the salad further with juices and heat. Tonight i took my order to go on my way home, ordered it my usual fashion and when i got home and opened my box, they had not put the chicken on the side and it had onions in it. The chicken had melted the cheese onto my salad, and warmed the entire thing. The onions by that time had tainted the salad with their flavor. Also they were close to closing time when i got my order so i couldnt return it. This wont stop me from eating there, but on my way home around their closing time, i will choose something else as i dont want to deal with an order made incorrectly. One day after work I was craving a good burger and looked up burger spots around me on my Yelp app. Scotty P's came up and after checking on the menu and reviews I placed an order online. Yes, you can order, customize and pay for your order without stepping into the restaurant, Yay! I ordered an original burger with guacamole and cardiac fries. I made the rookie mistake of not getting them loaded ($2 extra) and ended up with just a large mound f cheese fries. I customized my burger to be on texas toast and it was very good and big enough to split with someone else along with the fries. He got the fried chicken sandwich and it was so dang good I kept eyeing it as he took bite after bite! It was the most moist and juicy fried chicken patty I've ever tasted. The onion rings were pretty good but I will try the onion straws next time. My favorite part of the experience was my order was ready and completely accurate from pick up! They have 2 separate to-go parking spaces right in front and a special to go counter. Easy peasy for to go- try it! read more

3.5 stars. Not the best burgers I've ever had but not the worst. My aunt swears by this place and loves the burgers here. I'm not that picky when it comes to burgers and these did not dissappoint. I ordered the original burger and I found it odd that the condiment of choice spread was mustard instead of mayo. I'm not that big on mustard so it kind of made the burger a little less than enjoyable for me. However, their sweet potato fries were delicious! I love sweet potato fries and this place makes it just right. The cuts are thin so they're extra crispy and not salty at all. I love a place that offers sweet potato fries. If anything, next time I come back I'll just ask for the original burger with mayo and the sweet potato fries and I think I'll enjoy it much more. Solid place for burgers. I've been a fan of Scotty Ps for a while. But there's so many burgers in town- it's hard to be a top pick in my book. The other night, I ordered take out for the family. It took 10 minutes, they had dedicated pick up parking and didn't charge the "packaging fee" or any of that crap. The meal was great! My son loved his bacon cheeseburger, the wife loved her chicken salad and I was pleasantly surprised with my buffalo chicken sandwich. I expected dry and tasteless, but they cooked the chicken perfectly! The shoe string onions were a hit, but the fries were still hot and delicious! This is certainly a great selection for to-go. Yum! They do not skimp on any part of your order. My burger was SO good and my toppings were spot on. I was SO glad when I saw the avocado was not skimped on. It usually gets the raw end of the deal whenever I order it on my burger. So seeing that they gave me a good portion really made me happy. STAY AWAY!! We used to love their burgers until our last order 2 nights ago. We got the Nashville chicken to go without any sides & the impossible burger. Well both me & my husand got food poisoning. I am 30 weeks pregnant & this is a huge deal that violates every safety concern & we got sick the night before our baby shower. After spending $40 (wow) for 2 burgers, chicken sandwich, fries and drinks, they lost our order. After waiting 20 minutes and watching everyone that came in after getting orders, we ask mgr where our order was. He started scrambling looking for it when he found it sacked up on the to go counter. A few minutes later he brought it out on a tray and I specifically asked him if everything was hot and he assured me it was. It wasNOT ! Cashier was unable to explain the discrepancy and as stated, I was not in a "Happy Mood". Great burgers made however you like it! You can choose from their normal menu selection of burgers but I go the Custom Burger route and choose exactly what combination I want on my perfect burger. Great fries but great Onion Rings too so its always hard to decide which side to use to make a platter. One tip - they claim all burgers are cooked Medium Well by default but I think they tend to be a bit more on the Well Done side, so I ask for Medium and get just a bit of pink in the center of the burger (which is what I think Medium Well is supposed to be). If you forget, the burger is still juicy, just not as likely to have any pink center from my experience. read more

Meh. It's been years since I've been to Scotty P's, and the reason for our visit this time was for a family lunch. I guess in those last few years I've had FAR better burgers for the same price or less. We had an order of grilled chicken strips with fries (so we could split an order of fries), one burger, and one fountain drink. Total was nearly $19...ouch. Burger was very mediocre compared to pretty much anywhere. We usually spend about $20 at Grub Burger Bar for two burgers, a drink, and an order of fries and a milkshake to split. It's worth the price as we get really delicious, quality burgers with tasty sides. Hopdoddy, Goodfriends, etc are all in the same vein, costing about $10-11 for a burger and a side of fries. Or, you could go to Keller's and get a great burger for less than $4. To pay the same or more at Scotty P's for the quality is just crazy. I really like the option of the grilled chicken tenders here, but these were extremely salty. I really like salt, so for me to consider it nearly too salty to eat, it's pretty bad. I don't see a return visit to Scotty P's in our future. There are just much better options out there when it comes to getting a good bang for your buck. read more

This fast casual joint is a great place to have a good flavored burger. Their burgers are more on the charred side. They have a little smoke too it as well. The burgers are pretty juicy. They overcooked mine but for my girlfriend hers was more on the medium-well side. We ordered the regular cheeseburger and the mushroom burger. I enjoyed my mushroom burger. The mushrooms didn't have much seasoning but it was all about this inch and a half beef patties. The burgers have a delicious seared crust. Some of them are a bit overly charred. So if you don't like charred burgers this is not the place to go. Small but nitpicky negative points is the bun. These burgers also have a classic sesame bun on it. It kid of gave me bad reminders of mcdonald's and burger king. Not a fan of the gooey white sesame bun burger. Especially, if your mushroom burger is gooey and your bun can't soak up the delicious sauce. Oh and if you get a platter it comes with fries. We opted for the sweet potato fries. They The fries were a let down. They were goey and greasey and weren't given a proper chance to dry off and get some seasoning. Nonetheless, the platter of fries is enough for two people. Overall, great cheap deal for 6/7 bucks. Pretty good burgers. Some other notes: They have wifi but it's protected. I didn't know where to ask for the password. They call your name when your foods done. Cooking the burger may take some time because they're so thick. Don't expect fast food. For some random reason they offer a chicken kabob. I've been here several times for the burgers and the chicken, and I have to say the grilled chicken is my favorite! You can get the kid's size with two strips, or the adult portion that comes in three or four strips. The plate comes with a side of fries (or your choice of other side). I unknowingly got the four strips with fries and could only eat half my plate. It's a good sharing size for two! The menu is on the wall as you walk in and you place your order at the front, give your name, fill up your drink and take a seat. They'll call you to pick up your order when it's ready. I'm a cheeseburger kind of gal, so that's typically what I'll order, but I have been known to get the grilled chicken strips on occasion, and they are very good. I don't know what they marinate their chicken in, but it sure is flavorful. If you're after some greasy comfort food, try the Cardiac Fries (a junior size is plenty for one person, trust me!). Went to Scotty P's in Plano early this evening. It had been a couple of years since I last frequented this place. Even though it had been a minute since the last time we were there, the place was as we remembered, clean and casual. I don't eat meat every day or every week. But, I had a hankering for a hamburger. With all the new burger joints opening in the area, I went for the tried and true. Scotty P's aren't gourmet, but they hit the spot. My husband ordered a Turkey Burger and I ordered a Preston Trail burger(burger with chili, cheese and onion). We also ordered the chicken strips (shouldn't really call them strips, because they are huge). They aren't spicy but they are fresh. We each ordered a basket of fries with our orders. We probably should have ordered one basket for the both of us. If you're looking for the "wow" factor, then this isn't your type of restaurant. But, if you' re looking for good, made-to-order burgers, fries etc. that won't break the bank, then head over to Scotty P's. read more
