Ate here for the first time today and it is my new favorite breakfast. I had the cal-mex benedict, which is made with a special tangy creamy hollandaise sauce. It was DELICIOUS. My mother in law had a chili verde omelette which was also amazing, so full of flavor. Our server was kind and attentive. I am writing this as I am actually eating, so it will may change as I eat. So far this place is great. The waiter gave us some great recommendations on the vast menu. He recommended a side of biscuits and gravy and they didn't disappoint. The biscuits were flaky and light and the gravy was nice and peppery like I like. I ordered the meat lovers skillet special (pictured) and it looks and smells amazing. It is equally as delicious! So much that I burned my mouth because I just wanted to devour it. Easily my favorite breakfast place in the area. I've never had something here that wasn't delicious. Their house breakfast sandwich is my favorite and it's all at a great price. Whoever decided to use garlic bread as the bun is a genius. The people here are nice and are quick to remember you and your favorite drink/order. Dropped by here for a bite to eat around 6:15am, and also to kill time while waiting for my main destination in Simi Valley to open. The restaurant had clearly just opened for the day as they were still getting things ready, which is understandable. I was greeted by a man named Armando who was friendly and helpful and took my order. I got some pork chops and sat down. Armando struck up a conversation with me asking me where I was from and where I was headed. I'm from Chicago so interactions like this in a place that's not my home are precious to me, and I really appreciated his hospitality! He even offered me coffee on the house, which was MUCH needed because, like I said, it was 6am. I wasn't too fussy about the wait time because I had time to kill, but I think the pork chops came out in 10 to 15 minutes. The plate was presented beautifully. I didn't think to take a picture, but I wish I did! The pork chops came with two eggs, toast, and fruit, though the options are customizable, of course. The entire meal was about 12 bucks, but once I was done with the pork and the eggs, I had actually forgotten I had toast and fruit left because I was already almost full! To be honest though, I didn't come here to talk the food, but rather the experience. I'm in the LA area for just one day, and I took it upon myself to wander just to enjoy the city. But Armando especially made this random stop at a random restaurant for breakfast extremely memorable. Loved talking to him and will definitely drop by again just for that. After reading the reviews, my kids and I were looking forward to trying this out for breakfast. We got there at about 10 am and all but 2 (2 person) tables were full. I was greeted, asked how many in my party (3) and she said it would be 15 min. No problem, we went outside to wait. I watched several parties leave and 4 parties seated who arrived while we were waiting outside. We waited 20 minutes and as I walked inside, there was another gentleman with his wife who was acknowledged before me. That's it! I politely told the waiter I had been waiting, but decided to leave as I was not ok with all that had happened. Instead of trying to salvage any part of the situation,he just said "oh, ok bye"!!! Thank you Armando and the Burger Express staff!! I ordered food from Armando for my home party a few weeks back for about 40 people. It's pretty stressful having so many people come to your house. Armando made it so easy for me. The food was a huge hit and everything was soooo delicious!! My guests had seconds and thirds of everything -we had so much food!! I ordered chicken soft tacos, enchiladas, rice, beans, chips, the works! Armando gave us Everything we needed, salsa, taco sauce, chopped onions and cilantro, and his famous cilantro sauce as well. Armando is a total professional making sure everything was good to go on time and piping hot. He provided chafing dishes and gave us a quick review on how to set everything up. Many people consider my reviews very biased due to what I write and how I write them, but small businesses that work hard to provide excellent service and food deserve to be heard. I went here with my girlfriend on a Sunday at 10:00 am, we were given a table as soon as we got there. The food came out after 15-20 minutes of waiting. She even gave us updates with our waiting time. Here are a few things that stood out to me. -Our waitress was SUPER nice, she was helpful and entertaining. -The rest of the staff were polite and respectful. -Our water cups were always refilled -Chicken enchilada and chicken fajita omelet were really good -Our order came out exactly to what we wanted. I started researching breakfast places that open early and I found Ferretiz.. we decided to try it based on Yelp reviews and the early 6:00 am opening. We were the only ones in the place at 6 am on a Tuesday morning so we really received the red carpet treatment! Very friendly and attentive staff, food was delish and we were even brought out a sample of their potatoes, which they make fresh daily to try. All were outstanding! Meat... lovers... skillet. Truth time... I'm a country gravy snob. This place makes legit country gravy that they use to smother the mound of meat and potatoes with on a sizzling skillet. Their coffee is great too, which is very important for a breakfast joint. It's not a fancy place. It's not meant to be. It's down home no fluff breakfast food. I love it. I've come here twice and it's been great both times. The service is friendly and the food has come out fast too. I had their Mexican spin on eggs Benedict the first time and it was bomb! The manager or owner even came to our table to ask how it was and brought me a side of salsa because he said it goes great with the hollandaise on that Benedict. The second time I went there, I had their breakfast enchiladas which is their cheese enchiladas, country potatoes (recommend if you're feeling like a treat" and they give you your choice of eggs to go on it. I'm a big fan of eggs Benedict so I got two poached eggs on top and it was probably the best breakfast I've had in years. I've been craving it for a while now. In fact, I'm pretty much writing this review because I looked up to see if they were open on Labor Day (today) since I could go for those enchiladas right now. Try this place out. That being said the service here was really nice and everyone was polite and happy to help. This is a more Mexican inspired breakfast spot, dishes with some chorizo, or salsa which is cool. Always good to switch things up a bit, but there was still plenty of standrard breakfast fare too. Fear not. The food was only just fine. Nothing fried to be crispy was. The pancakes were just okay. The coffee was fine. The eggs were well cooked to order. The biscuits and gravy were okay. The omelette was good. The seating was simple and plain, the condiments were empty so just grab from a nearby table. The price was okay, for four of us for breakfast it was about $30.
