The local Edelweiss tourist ship was making its way through the river across from Screaming Tuna as we dined so the bridge went up.

Incredible culinary and sensory overload as we watched Milwaukee's river front skyline change as the sun set. The colors deepened on the water the cloaked the skyscrapers in darkness as the city light came on, all the while enjoying fabulous fresh sushi and excellent alcoholic beverages. Thank you for the memories! 5 stars.

Interior so cute, love the scenery of the buildings, sunset, and river. Service was great, waiter was very friendly and nice. We got the crispy tuna appetizer that seemed the most recommended. I enjoyed it. Then we got the queen of hearts and Spider-Man roll. Something was off about the Spider-Man, as the soft shell crab seemed burnt lowkey. Not very much crab at all..... that kinda threw off the whole Roll for me. Queen of hearts was pretty good, bigger and had more flavor. Very nice spot but wouldn't rank their sushi the best.

After a show at the Marcus Center we were feeling like a little late, light dinner would hit the spot. Sushi calls, Screaming Tuna to the rescue! Friday night after Thanksgiving is apparently the time to visit without a reservation. We stopped by and were seated immediately it was very quiet and frankly, lovely! We ordered drinks, chipotle won tons for an appetizer and each order a specially roll. Service was quick and efficient. We had a great window view of the city, and left feeling full and happy. Always a great visit here!

August 2025: I went to Screaming Tuna on a Monday evening in August with two other girls. We were seated outside right away with no reservation and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The view from our table was a beautiful cityscape on the water! We first ordered drinks, which we enjoyed. I had the Flirt Juice- it was refreshing and perfect for a summer night! Fruity and flavorful. For an appetizer, we shared the fresh veggie spring rolls. The spring rolls were good but we didn't care for the sauce they were served with. I typically like the sauce a little sweeter. I also ordered the seaweed salad, that was good. For dinner, we each ordered two rolls. I ordered the Rising Sun roll and the Shrimp Tempura. I thought both of my rolls were okay- somewhat bland and fishy tasting. My two friends also said their rolls were fishy and they didn't finish theirs. Our bill for the three of us came out to $160 before tip. Overall, great service and a beautiful summer night view, but not-so-great sushi and an expensive bill for what we ordered (my opinion).

I really enjoyed visiting screaming tuna for my birthday this year. I started by ordering a lychee martini-- very good. The sushi rolls were a consistent size, rolled correctly, and the ratios were very balanced. The sashimi was decent--not the best I've had, but pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers we ordered. We ordered the tuna crispy rice, the crab chipotle wontons, the beef spring rolls, and the gyoza. All very tasty. The miso soup was nice as well. I will say, I was offered two mochi for my birthday-- the green tea flavor was nice. The red bean flavor was crumbly and inedible. I actually spit it out. That being said, I'd be glad to come back for sushi and apps. Pretty solid.

For Midwest sushi the food was good it just wasn't a memorable meal like we were hoping. I did enjoy that there were a handful of rolls with different fruits and the size of the sushi was perfect where you could actually eat it in one bite without it being too much. Our waitress was nice and the restaurant was easy to locate. If you're looking like a sushi fix like we were this place will scratch that itch I'm just not confident we would go back.

A beautiful restaurant in the Third Ward! We decided to go for dinner on a gorgeous summer evening. We were sat outside overlooking the river. Our waitress greeted us promptly, and placed our Crab Rangoon starter order. We enjoyed the real crab inside & crispy outer shell. We shared several rolls & nigiri & were pleased with the flavor & quality. Would definitely recommend!

Screaming Tuna is a cute sushi spot! It was a little too cold to sit out but the indoor seating was still nice with the river view. We got two apps and a few rolls. The crispy spicy tuna was not as good as some other sushi spots, but the rolls were all pretty good. Service was excellent, she checked in a good amount of times and was attentive.

gorgeous view on a beautiful day to sit out on the patio facing the water!!!!! service was a bit on the slower side however. ranking of food: 1. matcha tres leche cake: so. good. and light and airy. obsessed 2. miso braised short ribs: short ribs very good, surprisingly enjoyed the japanese sweet potato even though i'm anti sweet potato. vegetables could've used a bit of a sauce drizzle from the short ribs and that would've perfected the dish. short ribs were really tender 3. crab chipotle wontons: wish this was crispier but the plum sauce and chipotle pepper complimented it well. still good 4. firecracker roll: feel like this could've impressed me more but it didn't 5. garlic roll: didn't even taste the garlic tbh big disappointment overall wasn't really impressed by the sushi rolls and have definitely had better elsewhere. but the view was gorgeous and i loved all the dessert options

This place was a lot of fun. It is right next to the water so the views are pretty cool from any spot within the restaurant. We got there right before the dinner rush on a Saturday evening and we're able to sit at the bar where we met Lizzie who was an amazing bartender. I had their alchemist sour which was a whiskey based drink, and my girlfriend had the pine after the hunt which was a tequila based drink. We got the edamame to start with the chili garlic on it and it had good flavor and a nice kick to it. Then we ordered the sushi for two. Our favorite nigiri's were the salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The rolls were also really tasty as well. Excited to come back during the summer when the patio is open.

Went to Screaming Tuna on a Friday night, there was good seating options even for a last minute call at 8:00pm. Food and drinks were good- would definitely recommend trying new things but they make a great classic roll as well. Service was the best part, very friendly staff and bright personalities that make your experience lively and welcoming. Servers and hostess included! Would definitely recommend trying on a night out.

Absolutely delicious sushi and drinks! It was a busy Friday night, but our server made sure we were taken care of in a timely manner. It was beautiful to look out and see the lake! Beautiful interior - I will definitely try it in the summer to sit out on the patio. Parking is tough, so use a ride share or carpool if you can!

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this place so I decided to give it a try as I was craving sushi that day. Place is fancy, clean and upscale with it being by the river. I'm a fan of the atmosphere. A great place to host dinners. We ordered some Vietnamese spring rolls and sushi, but unfortunately they were not up to par, especially with the price. The spring rolls were good, they packed it real good in there. The rice in the sushi was almost too soft for it, it had a slight foul smell. I can't remember what exactly we ordered, but it was 3 different rolls and the one with chicken was the only enjoyable. Maybe I expected a lot from this place- especially when I'm craving sushi. But I would still come again to try something else and hopefully have a better experience. The service was excellent though!

The greeting from the hostess was warm and friendly; she is an asset and really makes you feel welcome. Once we were seated and finally finished our struggle with what to order, we got our drinks. I had to go with the One Night in Bangkok again because it's just a really nuanced and complex mix of tangy, spicy and a hint of sweet. The smoke show also is impressive. My cousin tried the Berry-cation from the summer menu and it was perfect for her - very fresh and a little sweeter. Cousin-in-law got the Thai Goddess, with tomato, and it was very interesting - not quite fruity and not overly vegetal - very cool. Our food was amazing. The first several minutes were just a series of different people saying "Oh my God" as we tried different things. There was no weak dish. We enjoyed a good mix of seafood and meat dishes, that included Golden Fungi, Phuket Jor Pu, Namya Pu, Kurobuta Pork in Panang Curry Sauce, Hung Lay Short Ribs, the Samurai Signature Set, Kinnic Crisp Shell, Nam Prik Aon, Waygu A Rockfire, Mango Sticky Rice and a complementary birthday Yuzu Cheesecake. If you are celiac or gluten-free, I don't recommend ever eating here. While they have a dedicated gluten-free menu with options for changing things out, on two separate occasions (of the 4 times I've been there) they've made a mistake. It puts you in a challenging and uncomfortable situation when you are curious about something actually being gluten-free. I know for myself, you don't want to insinuate that you don't trust your server! My most recent visit there I had the shittake/vegetable Ramen with rice noodles. I explained that I can't have soy sauce because it contains wheat. I explained that if they have tamari that they could check if it is wheat free because I often can have tamari instead of soy sauce. I explained that I can't have anything that contains wheat. My server informed me that she would make sure that this was gluten-free, that the rice noodles would be replacing the Ramen noodles. While eating I was curious if the noodles were not gluten-free, and I was informed that they do seem to be rice noodles. We were also sure to order the tofu as steamed rather than fried so that it would not have cross-contamination. (Due to first glutened experience) Later that night and the following day I can report that what I ate was not in fact, rice noodles or gluten free, and I have been glutened. On a previous occasion, I ordered the fresh spring rolls with a sauce that I was informed was gluten-free with tofu. While already eating this, the server came over and informed me that the tofu was not gluten-free, and had been fried. I think that there may be some lack of understanding what gluten-free means and how it impacts people generally in most of the food service industry. I believe they did their best to try to accommodate. That being said if you are celiac or gluten intolerant, please steer clear! Very unfortunate because it was tasty. I understand that as someone who needs to eat gluten-free that I am taking a risk by eating at a restaurant that is not gluten-free forward. Although they have a dedicated allergy menu, two out of the four times I've eaten there it hasn't made a difference. Great restaurant, not great for celiac.

I completely agree that this isn't authentic chinese food, but approachable fusion that tries to keep it truthful to the flavors and presentation. The highlight of the meal was the peking duck, which they only have about 2 orders of a night. We snagged it immediately when we sat down and it can easily feed 4 people with the sides. The duck was juicy and cut into thick pieces, so it was more of a steak rather than a bao style that I am used to. Nevertheless, it was delicious and even warmed up well the next day. The green onion wraps were...strange in my opinion. They fell apart easily and didn't have the best flavor that complemented the duck. Overall, I would come back for the duck itself, but everything else was average or extra salty. Service was great and the staff are very attentive. Happy eating!

The vibe: It was packed at 7:15 PM on a Sunday, and they held firmly to our reservation time--which is understandable given the crowd. We took a nice stroll while waiting, so no harm done. Once seated, the service was excellent--attentive, prompt, and professional. The food: This is clearly high-end Americanized Chinese food, not authentic regional cuisine. If you go in expecting that, you'll have a better experience. The menu reads like a "greatest hits" collection--familiar dishes done with nicer ingredients and presentation. What worked well: Smashed Cucumber - A strong start. The cilantro and bean sprouts were exceptionally fresh, and the peanut finish added nice depth, though the sauce leaned a bit salty for my taste. Service and atmosphere - polished and efficient. What fell short for me: Wonton Soup - The wrappers were thicker than I prefer; I like a more delicate, translucent skin. The leek-based broth was pleasant, though. Salt & Pepper Cod - The seasoning was good, but the cod pieces were too thick, so the center remained bland. Halving the thickness would improve the texture. Mongolian Beef - Tender meat, but I wanted thicker cuts and larger onion pieces for more bite. It leaned a bit soggy for my preference. Rice Cake with Pork Belly - Pork belly was well-executed, but too many rice cakes overwhelmed the dish. The flavor leaned Korean (almost kimchi-like), which felt like a departure from the rest of the menu. Beef Chow Fun - Felt repetitive, using the same thin-sliced beef and bean sprouts as other dishes. I'd prefer charred broad rice noodlesthat are thin. These rice sticks were wide and thick,so like the cod, the center of the rice sticks were bland. I also preferred more eggs in this dish for variety. The overall pattern: Many dishes share similar ingredients and sauce profiles, which makes sense for a busy kitchen but does reduce variety across the meal. Bottom line: If you're looking for authentic, nuanced Chinese cooking, this probably isn't your spot. But if you want a polished, upscale version of familiar Chinese-American favorites in a great location, with reliable service, Dan Dan delivers that well. I personally wouldn't return, but I can see why it's popular--especially for the crowd that wants comfort food in a nicer setting.

Our server, Adam, was quick and attentive. He was funny, suggested items for us to try, and was very tentative of our friend's food allergy. We started the night with a few drinks; #39 non-alcoholic Paloma, #129 non-alcoholic sbagiato, and #33 Sherry Pear-Y. All of which were absolutely amazing! Then we ordered the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs (comes with two pieces), Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushrooms, Cappelletti, Slow-braised Bison Cheek, Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish), and the Wood-fired Bavette Steak. Where do I begin? First off, everything was fantastic! Delicious, creative, and memorable. Some dishes even had us ordering seconds! First the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs: so creamy! We ended up ordering another plate of them (four orders) because one wasn't enough for the four of us. The Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushroom: insanely seasoned! It was crispy and the kick of the Thai chili peppers, made it our tables favorite (we ordered another plate of this)! The bits of crunch rice mixed in was also a pleasant surprise. The bits of green beans and cucumber was a nice way to cool the kick of the spices. The Slow-braised Bison Cheek: It was very interesting. Very soft and when paired with the polenta cake, mozzarella, and carrot, it tasted amazing. Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish): Also very interesting. It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese catfish soup! The pineapple fish sauce paired amazing with the glass noodles. The only complaint I have about this dish, was that the glass noodles weren't fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. The Wood-fired Bavette Steak: My god, this was amazing! It was perfectly cooked, the dark chocolate bordelaise paired with the mushrooms and steak was incredible. Like I said, everything was amazing! Our table was blown away with the creativity and quality of the food. The service was amazing, everyone was very sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and quirky.
