For a Sunday night, extremely difficult to park. Good thing we had reservations. The atmosphere was nice. There really was no dress code so it seemed a bit weird to see super dressed up people and people in workout clothes on a Sunday at 6 pm. Sushi was good, I prefer Sake Tumi or Umami Moto. Just seemed fresher there. It wasn't the sushi, the over priced menu or the awkwardly dressed crowed that compelled me to give this restaurant 1 star. This place is prime for its water front views and big glass window and the outside seating looked great. The 1 star came from the staff who allowed a bachelorette party sit on the patio with a cooler full of beer and a 3 foot blow up penis with a giant smily face lay across the cooler. This was in everyones view from the restaurant. Plain as day big peach colored wiener over looking the river while a bunch of trashy girls drank miller lite. No one in their right minds wants to go to anywhere where they are spending hard earned money to look at giant wieners. Oh and those same miller lite cans were in the flower pots out front when we left. That experience alone was enough to make me give this place a poor rating. read more

This was the worst service that I ever experienced! The food came all at once (after a very long wait) or not at all! When you have to flag your waiter down repeatedly in order to get his attention for drinks, water, food, etc...that is pretty bad. Once the food came, it was good, but we have no idea how long it was sitting there since he seemed and smelled to have been on a smoke break. For the price we paid and for how long we were there (2+ hours) definitely not worth it. I only hope that the owner reads these reviews and puts his staff through better training or else I cannot see this place lasting long. read more

Visiting Milwaukee for the weekend, I decided to visit Screaming Tuna. The restaurant alone has the best view of downtown Milwaukee. It wasn't the typical view from a high rise, or brochure. It was beautiful and unique showcasing the revamped third ward buildings. When walking in the girls at the host stand were very friendly and accommodating, considering I did not have all of my party arriving at once. They sat us at the bar where the male bartender helped us pick cocktails. He made us a sparkling sake and grey goose martini. It was delicious and crisp. He was very helpful with recommendations of appetizers and dinner suggestions. When being sat,a manager came over and introduced himself to the table as Jeff, so friendly and helpful to all of us. Even bringing us a sample of sushi to try while our party arrived. We decided to share appetizers. The crab wontons were delicious. Crispy, spicy and sweet all at the same time. The spicy tuna maki was fresh amazing. The best was an appetizer that was ribeye, crab and noodles in a wonton wrap served with a peanut sauce. The selection of wines, sake and Martini's were great and affordable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Jeff was a refreshing taste of how management should be. Paying attention to the diners by reaching out and introducing himself instead of assuming they are being helped and being thanked for coming in. I do not remember the last time I felt appreciated for dining at a restaurant. I recommend for birthdays, happy hour or a date night in Milwaukee. read more

In spite of the mixed reviews on ye olde Yelp, my friend and I decided to give this place a whirl, mostly because someone whose judgment I trust quite a lot had raved about it. Upon arrival, we realized parking was a challenge and valet was really the only viable option. We sat inside because with the sun going down it was really starting to cool off - but I must say the patio looks amazing with a great view of downtown along the river. We started off with a lychee sangria that was bright, refreshing and delicious. For dinner, we had pretty standard fare - edamame, miso soup, and a variety of sushi and rolls. Dessert became a little challenging because they were out of a few things, but we landed on tempura banana which was actually quite good. Aside from the $7 we paid to park (including tip) and the homeless man panhandling while we waited for our car (and then, upon realizing we weren't giving him anything noted we were "lucky there are so many cameras around here"), Screaming Tuna was a decent experience. I'll be back when I can fully enjoy the patio. read more

I love Screaming Tuna so much that it has become a regular spot for my husband and I. The staff (especially the bar tenders) are all really nice and make it a point to get to know repeat customers--when we walk in the bar it's like an episode of Cheers--everyone is friendly and the bar tenders encourage interaction between patrons which makes it really fun. As for the food--it's great! Not the best sushi I've ever had, but everything is tasty and fresh and I've never had anything I was not happy with. The chefs also work with special requests and accommodate dietary restrictions. I highly recommend Screaming Tuna! read more

This is the only sushi place I have eaten at in Milwaukee, but it was very good. I ate there for lunch and their lunch special menu is incredible. The lunch special could be anything from seabass to sushi. I opted for the maki roll option. You can choose three rolls (a total of 18 pieces) from a list for 13 dollars. I got 4 pieces of nigiri as well and they were fantastic. Great service, great food, well worth a trip. Parking is limited. We parked a few blocks down the road at the parking garage in the 3rd ward and for about 3.5 hours of parking it was five dollars. Highly recommend that option because street parking is a 2 hour limit. read more

Went here Saturday August 24 for an 8 pm reservation. I had called a few days prior specially asking for a window seat. When we arrived at 8 pm our table was not ready and they made us wait an additional 20 minutes. We finally sat at 8:20 sad to find out the window seat I requested DAYS prior was not accommodated. Service was so so, her knowledge on drinks and fish was not to my standards but she was very friendly and of course we left over 20% because I work in the service industry. I was disappointed mostly that I went out of my way requesting a tiny touch to make my anniversary all the more enjoyable and was a bit disappointed to find out my prior planning was still not accounted for. Food was so so. We got the sushi plate chef choice for 2 and it was okay. Nothing out of this world. Also the waitress suggested rasperry green tea ice cream which was absolutely awe full and did not ask to bring another option or take it off which would've been stellar service in my opinion. Not being cheap at all but personally their happy hour menu was way better. Won't be dining for dinner again. Also drinks are not all that i would stick with wine here ! read more

I have been here twice now for lunch with a friend during the week and was extremely happy with our experience both times. They have a great lunch menu with many reasonably priced options for sushi and non-sushi items. My biggest issue with sake tumi and nanakusa are lack of a reasonably priced sushi option for a weekday lunch. We each got the lunch combo which included three rolls. I've tried the philly, wasabi cream, spicy scallop and california - the philly, spicy scallop and wasabi cream (which had tuna in it) were both very good. Our server remembered us the second time we were there and was very friendly, he was much improved from our first experience with him. My new favorite Sushi restaurant! Not only was the Signature roll fantastic, so were the lettuce wraps and the no name roll. I also was impressed with the amazing mango martini. Expecting it to be from a mango mix and extra sweet, it contained fresh mango, and was perfect! I cannot wait until the weather is nicer to have dinner here, with the walls of windows that open right in front of the river. The atmosphere was perfect, and the service and especially the food was fantasic. We had dinner on a Saturday night and ended up coming back during the week as well with friends who agreed on Screaming Tuna being a new favorite. My husband and I love sushi and were super excited to eat sushi al fresco. Unfortunately we never even got to try the sushi at Screaming Tuna. After sitting unattended for thirty minutes we flagged down a server from another table. She said she would find our server but then came back and said "I don't know who your server is but what do you need?" Kind of odd since what we needed was service but we figured we will stay, maybe just a miscommunication. When the hostess, presumably the manager, came by we explained the situation and she apologized. She took our appetizer order and the server came back and confirmed. 45 minutes later no appetizer, no nothing, nobody even nearby. My husband and I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant however this warranted us to leave. Needless to say never returning. Can't understand how Nanakusa closed with places like this around. read more

I've tried this restaurant twice now, because so many people talk about it and both times the sushi was the nastiest sushi I've ever ate. It was soggy, the flavors weren't balanced, and made me feel sick to even try to eat it. And I'm by no means a picky eater. The crab wontons were okay, but the plum sauce is what made them doable. My fiancee and I were craving sushi so we decided to find a place close to our hotel for dinner. Screaming Tuna was the closest place so we decided to try it. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw that the restaurant was on the river and they had a really modern look on the inside. We were seated right away (next to the window so we had an awesome view of the river and city) and we were greeted by our waitress promptly. We wanted to share some Sake but don't know much about the different types, so our waitress told us about the different types and even gave us a few suggestions. We ordered dinner, 5 maki rolls, our waitress helped us make our decisions and even asked the chef to make a special roll that wasn't on the menu anymore. It took about 15-20 minutes for our food to come and it looked awesome! It was all delicious, and very fresh! The waitress was attentive and really funny! We had an awesome dinner, the view was great, the food was great, and the service was awesome! read more

Tried this place for the first time the other day. I'm not a fan of sushi rolls with all sorts of junk on them that it ends up hiding the taste of the fish and the rice. that being said, i got the chef's special for lunch. got the wasabi tuna roll, salmon roll, and three pieces of nigiri: salmon, tuna, and shrimp. i thought the sushi was good; the fish was melt in your mouth good. i like when i can take a bite out of tuna or salmon and there's no chewy fat that you have to get through. this fish was like that. will be back! read more

I went here on a date with my wife on a Saturday evening for our first time. We love sushi and have had our share of excellent sushi as well as subpar. We lived in Hawaii for three years and were able to enjoy fresh fish and great sushi chefs. We have also had good sushi at other restaurants in the area. Screaming Tuna was recommended to me by a guy from work. We arrived and were surprised at how loud the music was, more in line with a bar. My wife started with a lychee sangria cocktail, which she said tasted simply like punch. We then ordered the salmon poke, which was decent but not much taste. Then we ordered two specialty rolls and one make Thai roll. We ordered the "Eye of the Tiger" roll and the "Lobster roll". All three of the sushi roll were no good. The Thai roll had Thai chili peppers on top with no warning. My wife, who is Laotian and has eaten spicy her whole life was shocked and in pain. The menu stated that the Eye of the Tiger had jalapeño peppers, which I ordered knowingly. However, the just simply placed a whole jalapeño pepper on top of the sushi. I would have thought the jalapeño would have been diced and inside the roll. The lobster roll just tasted foul in general. We literally tried one of each and then asked the waitress for the bill. We told her the sushi was not good, she didn't even bother to ask what we didn't like about it. We paid the bill and left $50 worth of sushi on the table. We then left and went to a local Thai restaurant and enjoyed a fabulous meal for half the price. read more

Every time I have out of town guests, I take them here and they absolutely love it! Not only do you get the best view in Milwaukee on the river, but the staff is very accommodating and the food is unique and extremely tasty compared to other sushi establishments. Hands down, best sushi in Milwaukee that I highly recommend! Only minor con is that it can get pretty busy on the weekends, but it's to be expected. read more

I don't normally contribute to restaurant reviews but this place was so awful and over-priced I feel I have to warn others. My son's chicken teryaki ($18) came with cold mashed potato. My food, grilled meat and mashed potato, was also cold. Total bill for three, with two of us drinking soda and one drinking water, was $77. A complete and utter rip off. This place is trendy and has a good view. But it won't be trendy forever if the food does not improve. I hope it fails and is replaced by a restaurant that can make good meals. Nearby Soup Brothers will give a tasty bowl of soup and a soda for $7. Conejito's Place will feed you well for under $10. Screaming Tuna, no. Screaming rip-off joint is more accurate. read more

I went here for lunch with a friend. I had a few doubts, but love trying different places. I have to say, at first, I was disappointed by the really slow service (over ten minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge us). When we did finally get her to come take our drink order it took another 10 minutes to get 2 iced teas. The time was unacceptable given that we were one of three tables in the place. Then the waitress brought out something that I assume was supposed to be soup? Yuck. This yellow liquid was far from tasty. Soooo, by this point I'm pretty much out of hope for the meal. But when it finally came out, it looked delicious and tasted fantastic. I had the halibut (I think, it was a white fish) and my friend had some type of beef. They were both cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. I will go here again and hope that they can get there act together with regard to the slow service. read more

Was very excited to try out the sushi here. The location is perfect and the view stunning, but the sushi was mediocre. Had salmon poke as a starter, it was very salty and came served in a glass that was difficult to eat out of. The maki was all bland. To top it off, the server clearly didn't care about our experience and didn't bother to ask how our food was until it was clear we weren't loving it. When the question finally came, my dad responded "...its.. Alright." She must have thought that meant "it's great!" because she just walked away. We definitely didn't have a great experience and it didn't seem like anyone there truly cared. (Maybe don't try this place for Tuesday lunch) read more
