I got a Caesar salad and it was really yummy! Granted it isn't very hard to make, but the lettuce was fresh and crunchy and the croutons weren't stale! iI really hope this gets to Steve's manager because after reading another post and his behavior towards customers (his attitude, throwing customer and son out of the restaurant, pulling a chair away from them) that something is done with him. He is definitely rude and arrogant because I've experienced this myself. This is not how you treat people working in a restaurant no matter how your day is going. It actually is a relief when I go there and he's not there. No one should ever have to feel that way going to a place to eat and relax. If you don't like your job just leave. Stopped here on a whim on the way to Worcester airport. Wasn't expecting much but the 3 of us were pleasantly surprised. Wanted something lite so I ordered the side salad for $5. Very generous portion for that price. Very fresh. Husband ordered a Cuban sandwich which was equally generously proportioned to the point where he ended up boxing up the other half; something he rarely does. Daughter got an excellent Cobb salad and we had a couple of beers. Great service too! We definitely hope to go back if in the area again! read more

Food is very good. Yesterday at noon time I called to place an order. I continued to call for an hour. No answer. I then drove by at 1:00 and they were open. I called again no answer. Bad business. I'll probably give it another try but not my favorite. The menu has too many meat products and the selection was small (although the appetizers go on forever). The prices are too high. Even with the change in decor and updates of the place I can still see "Friendly's." The tv's are large and throughout. The bar is large. The most frustrating thing about any restaurant is not accurately listing all ingredients in a meal. I have objection to saying "hold the..." but if it's not listed I can't say that and now I'm forced to pick through my meal. Great place.. Terrific menu from Apps to Entrees.. Talented bar staff.. Friendly wait staff.. Parking can be a little tough, depending on time of day, and to complicate things, the property is monitored by a "security" company that has been known to TOW vehicles for poor parking.. (ie: not parking "within" the painted lines) so be very aware of tire placement upon landing!! Scruffys does NOT own the property.. Security is not "theirs".. They have LOTS of tv's and Keno too! I ordered the haddock plate and a seafood plate and requested to substitute the mashed for another veggie with the haddock. They charged me $3 and added more carrots (the other veggie) . . . and no lemon for the fish. If you are going to charge me extra for a second veggie at least tell me it's an extra charge. I hope people are understanding about the difficulty restaurants are having staffing issues. This will effect wait times, ticket times etc. be patient and understanding. I have been in this business for 40 years and have always received excellent service and food quality. Lobster Roll the very best I've ever had and ribs outstanding. What a great neighborhood place to have! One recommendation... you should post a sign at takeout pick up car parking spaces to alert drivers to turn of vehicles as the exhaust does not do the patio diners any favors. read more

Scruffy's has been on my list of places to check out for a while now. I can honestly say this was the first and will be the last visit there. The only thing that was good about the visit was the drinks. My boyfriend got a sandwich- the french fries that came with it tasted freezer burned and were rock hard. I got the ribeye, which was very bland and the boxed mashed potatoes did nothing for the meal. Our server was extremely slow even though the restaurant was not busy. Another staff member must've felt bad for us sitting around and waiting for more drinks because they finally came over to help us out. Definitely a one and done experience. read more

I've been here a lot with family. Not the worst experience I have had but Service is not the same.I don't think "Seat yourself" is the best idea since some of the tables haven't been cleaned and the wait staff don't acknowledge you for 10-15 min. Although my waiter was nice, he didn't check in on us and we had to grab his attention multiple times. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and the pulled pork was rancid. Waited another 10 minutes to grab his attention and let them know. He was very pleasant about it after I showed him the color and smell. We've given this a place a few tries, so it's not just a one time thing. We had apps the first time, the chicken ranch egg rolls and the beef sliders, both were great. We've tried wraps, can;t remember which ones, but good also. We went in for dinner, had prime rib and seafood casserole. The prime rib was great, but the sides were lacking, looked like frozen mashed potatoes and baby carrots that come in the plastic bags, no flavor at all. We got the egg rolls again, and they were terrible, no bacon, no flavor and presentation was lacking. The drink prices, beer and spiked seltzer is high, $6 for a seltzer! (they sell the same one for $4.50 at Quinns) They need a better chef, and for the amount of servers/bartenders, it's not the fastest. The restaurant itself is great, they did a great job with the remodel, open airy and very clean. We've had a couple bartenders that were good, especially one named Ryanne (spelling?) We'll go back, but they need to get the food up to par, I know it's still new, willing to try again, but will wait a bit! read more

I have been a regular for over a year and the food and drinks are not consistent and if there is an issue the attitude is oh well sounds like not my problem. First time i went was 2 weeks after opening and it was okay my beer was flat as can be and our chicken bacon ranch appetizer was nasty, the chicken was like blended and soggy and it was just horrible. Then our food came out and its cold and BLAND there was no flavor at all, i felt i had to add so much salt and pepper and malt vinegar to give it some taste. Went back a second time tonight to give the place the benefit of the doubt that sure they just opened ill give it another go.. but this time my food was worse. My potatoes were stone cold, my "fresh" vegetables were way under cooked and frozen basically... and guess what ... my drink was still flat. The woman next to us said the person who sat in the seats before us also said her food was cold everything was cold .... my mother got a soda and that was even flat, so she gave it back to bartender who them tried the soda and AGREED it was flat... but he never took it off the bill I most likely will NOT be returning to this restaurant.. i had such high hopes for it too... read more

While the food here is typically great, I definitely won't be returning. I visited Scruffy Murphy's with my family on a not busy Sunday afternoon. After taking our drink order, we waited about 15 minutes for drinks. After taking our food order, our waitress was MIA for OVER a half hour. No check ins, no refills, no update on our food. When we spoke to the manager and asked for the check, our food was rushed out. We were not offered an apology or any explanation. The food was subpar and the second round of drinks were incorrect and and brought out to us as we were leaving. The situation was not handled appropriately by management and I am extremely disappointed in their customer service. read more

Absolutely disgusting. Potatoes were instant, steak had a burnt flavor, food came out cold. sent it back and came back still disgusting. The waitresses had b@#$% faces and were the rudest I have ever talked to. Took my waitress over fifteen minutes to check on us after food came out. Another waitress asked if we wanted another drink. Our waitress came over and I sent the plate back. Not re-done, came back out with an additional plop of instant potatoes slightly warm with a cup of butter. Our waitress didnt check on us again for fifteen minutes. Then a different waitress came over after I tasted the terrible meal. I explain to her how gross everything was, she proceeded to give me a dirty look, took my plate and was a jerk. That same jerk of a waitress, continued to pass our table giving us looks to kill and was an a#@. Never again and I would suggest no one else eat there. So disappointed that this was an Irish pub and even the mashed potatoes sucked. Hospitality was rated zero from staff. The wachusett beer was the only thing good. Absolutely terrible customer service, manager threatened us, waitress told us to order to go meals later then proceeded to say the kitchen was now closed. Clueless waitstaff as well as disrespectful manager that was sitting down in some sections with other customers without his mask on. I thought the customer was always right but in this place the customer is wrong and the covid inviting staff believes they are always right. Food is below average and you feel disrespected when you walk in. Multiple service failures. Table of 6, only 2 meals were delivered so we waited quite a few minutes to see if our friends would get their meals, and by then our food was cold. Our waitress never returned to see how our food was, so we finally flagged down the manager to check on the rest of the meals and have our food warmed up. A few minutes later our waitress came over and explained that somehow only one check had been submitted (we had requested separate checks) and that the kitchen was expediting the other 4 meals. The manager returned with our meals warmed up and offered a small dish of salsa and chips while our friends waited. He knew what had happened; he should have had the kitchen remake our meals so all 6 could have been served together. Instead, we ate, and our friends waited another 20-25 minutes for their food. So much for expediting. When we finally asked for our checks, we asked our waitress if anything could be comped due to the delays, and she proceeded to argue with us because there was nothing wrong with the food. She should have gone to get the manager, it was inappropriate for her to argue with us. Realizing that they had no intention of doing anything for us, we gave her our credit cards. The manager was the one who came back to return our credit cards and just told us to have a nice day, he never apologized for the problems we had. We were forced to pay for a drink that the bartender screwed up twice. No one had the drink because it was so badly made, it could not be saved. Management insisted that we pay for a drink we did not end up having. Aside from how screwy this was by itself, manager definitely treated us like we were wrong for disliking the drink. It was a weird stance, and absolutely not a good look. Not sure why that is their approach. It's my neighborhood bar so it bums me out, but hoping that with one bar in the neighborhood, more (and better ones) will follow. For that, at least, I thank you scruffy. read more
