Best restaurant in the area, by far, and far and away. The specials, the drinks, the standard menu, the vegetarian dishes, the fries, OMG did somebody say "Belgian Fries"? Best outside of Europe. The restaurant itself has good ambiance however, the service was slow, it was unclear who the server was, and when we first asked to eat outdoors they said it was full but there were many tables empty. The food is very expensive and my fish and risotto was not flavorful and was mushy. Lastly, they didn't take my friends gluten allergy very seriously and she didn't feel well the next day. read more

The food is really great the environment is so so. But he reason I give 3 star is because of the service. We were their with a large group. The waiter identify who the party owner is and who will be paying the bill and that was it....in the side of the table where we were seating we never again got our wine pored again. It was my Dad's 55th birthday so we decided to celebrate the special occasion at Scutra. Unfortunately, my experience at Scutra was extremely disappointing. PLEASE do not waste your money or time! There's better out there... Appetizers: I tried the red beets and arugula greens salad with fried artichoke gnocchi as well as the Halibut strudel, which was a special for the night. Both of these were good, but small portion sizes. They were certainly both unique dishes. For dinner, I ordered the scallops served on couscous. This dish was served cold. It was so annoying. I had to ask them to reheat the dish so I ended up getting the dish back when some of my family members nearly finished their meals. It was certainly nice of them to substitute the risotto for couscous since I am lactose intolerant. The scallops were fresh, but some of the spices in the dish such as the ginger were overpowering. My dad ordered the braised cod served with vegetables and ginger sticky rice. I was thinking about ordering this dish but decided to try the scallops instead. I tried some of this dish from my dad and was immediately filled with happiness solely because of the fact that I did not order the dish. The fish was overcooked and extremely chewy. I could barely swallow my bite. We sent the dish back and ordered the chicken and eggplant parmesan served with mozerella and pesto sauce. This dish was not any better. The chicken was extremely bland. I felt horrible because my dad did not like it at all. He struggled to eat a portion of it. Considering we came to Scutra to celebrate his birthday, I was rather frustrated. Dessert: I ordered the warm chocolate soufflé. This time I asked for it to actually be served warm and it was warm indeed. The dessert was about average...good enough to satisfy my sweet tooth this is only satisfied by chocolate Service: Excellent service. The reason I am giving this restaurant two stars instead of one star is solely because of the amazing service. They were very accommodating of my dietary restrictions. They were very friendly and patient. Overall, I do not plan to visit Scutra again. If you are looking for a great Mediterranean cuisine, my suggestion is Oleana, which is a couple of miles away in Cambridge and similarly priced. read more

This is the cutest little European restaurant tucked off the beaten path in Arlington. It really is a hidden find. The dining area is pretty tiny so if people start to discover it I expect the lines to quickly be out the door! The garlic mussels were tasty tasty and the grilled pork chop was plain mouth watering. It was our anniversary the other day and we were looking for a way to celebrate the occasion with a take-away meal. Scutra did not disappoint, their food was excellent, the process was easy and friendly - a phone call to the restaurant to order and pay, and then the hostess brought our order right to our car when it was ready. Unlike a lot of places in Arlington, parking is easy. I will certainly be returning when in-person dining becomes safe again, and we will probably get take-away from them again before too long. read more

Scutra has long been one of my favorite restaurants - hidden gem, amazing fresh, seasonal menus, incredibly welcoming and friendly staff, fantastic drinks and all at very reasonable prices. When they opened with outdoor seating I couldn't get there fast enough! I've already been twice since they reopened and both times were fantastic! Always get the special strudel appetizer and always get the tempura whatever they are serving! First time I got a special ravioli with lobster and shrimp and second time I got bacon wrapped short ribs. Couldn't go wrong either way! Food and service are top-notch but the noise level--Full restaurant on Friday night--was deafening. Since we're now medically prohibited from alcohol, we particularly appreciate very inventive and delicious non-alcoholic cocktails. I recently hosted a collation lunch following a funeral at Scutra and they did a fabulous job. We had the entire restaurant and it was a great space for our very mixed age group. We absolutely LOVE this place. If a 10-star option was available, I would click on it without hesitation. This is their 15th year, and Scutra just gets better and better each year. My husband and I left very satisfied after our last visit, and wondered why we don't frequent this place more often. We started the evening by sharing 2 appetizers, Burrata cheese on top of tomato salad sprinkled with pea sprouts, and their special appetizer, stuffed clams. Then I had their special entree dish, lobster ravioli, while my husband ordered bacon wrapped Filet Mignon with goat cheese with sides of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Yes, you read correctly when you saw bacon. Of course bacon makes everything better! And then that goat cheese as it melted down the juicy Filet was sinful. But I wasn't envious because while his dish was sinful, mine was heavenly. Generous portion of big chunks of lobster meat covered my plate, with homemade raviolis, and the sauce....I bet they won't give that recipe away. We also had a bottle of 2011 Chateau Le Calvaire Bordeaux Superieur that just went perfectly with our meals. As much as we were full to the gills, you can't leave here without having one of their desserts. So we shared grilled, warm cheesecake. Guilt. Service can really make or break any business. The service we received at Scutra was phenomenal. The owners here really should pat themselves on the back for hiring quality professionals. Helen was our waitress and she is probably the friendliest person you will ever encounter in Arlington. And then we met Brian, the bartender, who saw that Helen was busy with other tables so when he saw our wine glasses were nearing empty, he got out of his bar to pour us more wine. What bartender does that? Never and we eat out a lot. It surprised us to see that level of service anywhere. Truly a team effort and it's commendable. They just recently added a patio for outside seating. The patio faces The Minuteman Bikepath and what a clever idea to hang wheels along the walls of the patio. In case you're thinking well it's getting colder outside, our waitress Helen did mention heating lamps have been ordered for the patio. So they should be coming any day now. Reservation is highly recommended if you plan to dine here on Friday or Saturday evenings, and you can do it thru Yelp. If you can't find parking in front of the restaurant, there's more parking on the other side of the bikepath. We just walked the one mile to get there and the walk afterward was much needed after that cheesecake :-) If you have the time to read this article, it's a great read. Delicious food. We have been there in the past. Once a few years ago for an occasion and found it to be a fine high end restaurant. We went again after they opened the patio off the bike trail. Decidedly more casual. We were really there for the cocktails which were delicious. We went there tonight (after biking). Louie is reason enough to visit Scutra. The food is the best in Arlington by far but the whole experience for us is centered around amazing service you simply won't find anywhere else. Particularly after COVID gutted the restaurant industry, and customer service has been dead for years in most places, Louie is a throwback to a bygone era of service. Every time we go there it feels like we have a private server who is exclusively there to help us. He knows the menu inside and out, is honest and laid back yet super attentive and always willing to spend a few minutes chatting with us.
