    Caesar Salad
    Carol L.

This is my second trip (the last one being a few years ago), again for Sunday brunch. Lovely room and bar, Sunday brunch brings you live music in the form of jazz. Service good, food mixed. I met two friends and we sat in a comfortable booth near the trio. The music was pleasant, not really jazz but more jazz-ish renditions of some popular tunes. My friends had a chardonnay and a sauvignon blanc to start; I was in the mood for a cocktail and went with a citrus-y concoction that alas is no longer on the online menu and I've forgotten the name. It was tasty! The menu is small and a mix of brunch and lunch items. My friends had the egg white omelette and the Caesar salad (pictured) which they found satisfactory. I was not so happy with my Eggs Benedict (also pictured); the English Muffin was tough to knife through and the poached eggs tiny. The taste was there but my enjoyment was not. The roasted potatoes that came with were flavorful. I will go back if it's the most convenient meeting place but won't rush back for brunch. It's in the heart of Belmont Center, which is charming, with a bookstore and a few other interesting shops open on a Sunday. There is onstreet metered parking and a large metered parking lot (free on Sundays) behind the restaurant with an entrance into the back.

A decent place to have a meal with a nice ambiance but ultimately lacking in flavor and much too ordinary a concept. Also mistakes on the menu whereby items on menu were not present in dish, and items in dish not listed on menu. The burrata appetizer is an example: the cheese itself was fresh and delicious with a nice rougher outer layer balanced by the softer inner layer. The preserved meat salami was great as were the figs and the berry jam. But the menu mentioned beets and there were none provided. We checked w the waiter and he said that the recipe changed and so wasn't included! If I were them would have reduced the price or provided some beets on the side. The Caesar salad was good but the lettuce and flavoring was nothing special. The parmesan chips were a nice touch as was the pumpernickel croutons. There needed to be more flavoring on the sauce. The shrimp and grits was good. The grits were rich and creamy and the shrimp was spongy with a nice bite to it [though they could be meatier]. Generally a good dish. The Mahi Mahi could have been more flavorful and a tad less well-done. The coconut broth was gentle and delicate, and the tomatoes were a nice addition. The ginger however was way strong and there needed to be fewer strands of ginger or the ginger strands needed to be thinner. They also need to be cited on the menu! The service was excellent and helpful. The pricing was probably more than I think the meal is worth though that's true for a lot of restaurants in an era of high inflation. Check this place out and see what you think!

This is what The Wellington provided for a $49 Thanksgiving Dinner to go What a shame! Great chef (or so I always thought) until today

5 STARS . Food is amazing , fresh ingredients & made with love. Shrimp & Grits , like where else can you get real grits around here that melt in your mouth ?! We love the atmosphere, great ambiance & upbeat employees make this place stand out from the rest. Oh and their Brunch ... Where do I begin... The waffles have Pearl sugar that caramelizes, crystalizes to give them that amazing texture . The real deal. Flatbread with avocado, applewood smoked bacon , gruyere & fontina cheese & pickled red onions topped with soft poached eggs with chives is my go - to... But the Bananas Foster is a mind blowing experience on its own. I suggest you get one for the table in addition to your individual meals. Also huge omelettes & 4 styles of Benedicts - smoked salmon , ham , bacon or spinach . You won't be disappointed, I promise ! !

It was our first time here. Dinner and drinks were great, however, service was a bit slow on a Saturday night.

Post-COVID, life looks a little different. I've changed jobs and moved to another town, so it's no longer the easy drop-in it once was. Still, I make a point to come back at least every few months. What hasn't changed is the consistency. This remains one of the most reliably excellent restaurants in the Boston area, and still one of my all-time top five--while others that once held that spot haven't quite held up. One thing has changed, though: the Ghost of Mary. Scotty, the former bar manager, created what's still my favorite cocktail of all time. When he left, the drink left with him (by mutual agreement), and while he generously shared the recipe with me, I've never quite managed to recreate it at home. It was clearly meant to be made by the expert. That said, Sycamore hasn't missed a beat. The space is still as comfortable and quirky as ever, the food remains consistently excellent, and the current bar program is in very capable hands. The cocktails are thoughtful and well-executed--just maybe don't remind me about the one I'm missing

Sycamore is SPECTACULAR!!!…read more Newton centre is probably one of my favorite cities for date night and afternoon shopping. They have some great places to shop and dine and Sycamore is one of them. We have been here multiple times and everytime is better than the last. From the Managers greeting to the service, and atomosphere, Sycamore sure knows how to make customers feel seen and heard and their bellies happy :) We came here after attending a wine tasting not far from here and were able to grab some bar seats. They have a great cocktail and wine list; I always have a hard time choosing just one. I went with a vodka drink called Nothing Rhymes Orange and my husband had a beer. Since we were not that hungry he ordered the Chorizo Croquettas and I had my favorite salad in the world (not kidding) their Kale Salad. Let me just tell you 1. if you don't like kale, you will love this salad. Just the way they make it and the flavors/crunch will make your mouth water 2. you will eat the whole thing. 3. trust me. If there is one app that you need to order its the chorizo croquettas, OMG. They are like little small drops of heaven and there are only 3 so if you plan to share I would recommend ordering more than just one. For dessert, we ordered an Espresso Martini. The only thing that was missing is the coffee beans but still good. Thanks Sycamore for another fabulous dinner and evening. Thanks Kale Salad for being the best ever. I know I will be back for another one sometime soon. Cheers~

Steak tacos are - as someone else has mentioned - to die for. My filet mignon was juicy and VERY tender. I mean, it was so easy to cut apart. I think the chef and whoever is making the food are really carrying this place. The hostess and our server, Alex, were also very very nice and welcoming. My dinner partner had the foie gras dish, and it was also great! I definitely want to come back. Just do not order cocktails, haha. Maybe I'm too old, but fine dining should involve that refinement. Stop calling yourself fine dining and call it expensive food with uppity servers and no dress code. Food was amazing- so please know I would absolutely go back for the food! We had lobster bisque, the best Caesar salad (top 5), calm chowder, shrimp and clams, lamb and a fillet. During our meal just after the lovely table side service of the lobster bisque my son accidentally moved the table with his feet and the drinks flew into my food. Our server watched it happen and walked away. She turned not to help but out of disgust walked the other way! The food runner came to the rescue! But then we were charged for another drink that spilled! I don't know but when your at fine dining and you get double charged for a table moving and treated like you are an inconvenience that gets me. Plus she was clearly angry with us. Food 5 stars, service 2, price for the service we received totally not worth it. Don't waste your money to get treated badly. Sorry kitchen but front of the house ruined it.
