Senor Bear is a fun spot with great food. Really flavorful and fresh, and very attentive service. Their margarita is great, freshly made and full of lime juice. I will say they need to turn down the music, they were blasting badly mixed club jams so loudly on a Wednesday that I had to scream at my husband. The aguachile was good, but overall too many light flavors. We couldn't taste the scallops at all, they are such a mild fish. No spice at all, it just tasted like a cucumber avocado salad. Recommend adding a little jalapeno and shrimp or crab, like the traditional aguachile. The veggie mole was amazing, I could live off that forever and never get sick of it. They just added a new meat dish to the menu that's not on their online menu, I'm forgetting the name, it's a pork dish, and it's way too soupy. It comes out looking like a soup but not meant to be. (I hope someone at the restaurant reads this and know what I'm talking about, it had potential!) The churros are amazing, better than the ones I've had in Spain. The food waa good However Service was not great - took our drink order and we waited 15 minutes- we could see the drinks sitting on the bar getting warm - took our food order -20 Minutes later food arrived by others - 5 minutes later stopped by to see how it was and one of us ordered one more drink - would have ordered at least another round of he had checked back with us sooner- waited another 10 minutes and saw the drink sitting for at least 5 minutes getting warm on the bar. When it was finally deliver - almost done eating ! Disappointed with the service! The guy had the most personality when he delivered the bill! I would have given 5 stars and I wanted to give 5 stars; however, there were a few shortcomings with the service. Granted, they've only been servicing people for a week. We sat at the bar, naturally. The Cuba Libre was on point. Which you can't ever really say about a Cuba Libre, but this Cuba Libre was the perfect mix of lime, sugar cane cola, and rum. It'll make you want to buy a one way ticket to Havannah Sean was the master of the cocks, but he acted as if he didn't have time for us. At one point I glanced around the bar and noticed several customers with a shot glass full of frozen goodness. I immediately asked, "may I try your frozen daiquiri," and it took another thirty minutes to communicate my dissatisfaction with being excluded. Quite rude. Now on to the good stuff. FOOD. King Crab was phenomenal. Not because it was a beautiful leg of lump crab but solely because it was completely unexpected, as it should be. It was shelled and intertwined with this lovely avocado mouse and served with an appropriately spicy broth, and a couple of crunchy rice bites. Which makes for the perfect combination. The pig tail was stupid. Meaning it was fatty and meaty and crunchy and that glaze is I was ecstatic about the duck empanada because I love empanadas, almost more then pupusas. Unfortunately, I must say I was extremely disappointed with the empanadas. The dough was off. Too thick and not soft and buttery enough like it should be. There was not enough meat and it wouldn't hurt to add some green olive. The meat itself was beautiful, but don't be stingy. Especially not with an empanada. My husband and I checked this place out last night. I am indifferent about it, but I probably won't return unless friends suggest to meet there or something. FOOD: We ordered Queso and it was good, but not great. They advised us to stir it because there was shredded cheese at the bottom. We did, but it was still very stringy and hard. It was difficult to eat too. After that we ordered the 1/2 order of the Pollo Bronco (?). It was a very big portion size, enough for at least 3 people. Again, it was good, but not amazing. The chicken could have been a little more charred and less rubbery. It lacked a little bit of flavor too. Drinks: SO GOOD. We really enjoyed the drinks. We had 3 different drinks and all were fresh and delicious. I think they are expensive but they were good. Service: The service was not bad, but again, it just wasn't great. The server did not explain the menu to us at all so we found it a little confusing. It's all in Spanish so..... also, there are unique dishes that would've been nice to know what they were, how much to order, how big the portions were, etc.. We ordered drinks and appetizer to start. We got our appetizer and ate the entire thing before we received our drinks. We don't eat fast either. I put that on the bar because I could see the server waiting for the drinks to be made. Amazing, perfectly seasoned food. Portions were generous given the price point (I'd say $$$). The coffee was delicious and the brunch menu very diverse. Unfortunately we ate too fast to take pictures of the food, but the burger was *incredible*. Guiso Stew was super tasty, get it with an extra egg! Best of all and why we'll come back for sure is the quality of service. Smiles everywhere and truly helpful staff all around. It feels like a team and that keeps everyone happy. Ambiance also 5/5. Churros....churros...churros! While we also love the dinner, we do tend to frequent Senor bear more frequently for just a late night end to date nights where we just get the Churros. We've had some slow service as it can be fairly popular, but the last couple times we went our service was spectacular and we did not have the same issues we had early on. This place is great! Had a place across the street not able to get us in. So glad they couldn't! This place was busy but not obnoxious. Very friendly guests that scooted Down to let us in. Bartenders really helped make the night as well. Devon was just fantastic! Tried the Gordo taco and many other delicious things and I just kept ordering more gordo tacos! Out of the three tapas style dishes we ordered I enjoyed the arepa de maiz the best, corn bread on the bottom with braised beef and picked onion and a tangy aioli sauce hits the spot! Stumbled upon this place after every restaurant in the downtown area and near 17th were just packed, most of them required a reservation. So we decided to drive to the highlands and came across señor bear. The place is very small and yes every crowded. We were lucky to score a table for four people. It was my son's birthday and he was already getting tired of looking around for restaurants that he didn't really even wanna try this restaurant, but we all were tired as well, and said, let's give it a try. First of all the atmosphere is great if you want to sit outside it's a great atmosphere it's not big it's not loud it's just right The chairs are a little bit uncomfortable and the tables are of a small if you have a big party but we were just fine with four people. The food is fantastic. I wasn't sure really what I was going to get since the menu is very very small and limited. Don't think you'll go there and get a big menu and have a lot of things to choose from. There are selected items. I guess the reason they do this is because they concentrate on the quality of the food and not the quantity of the food that they serve. My son had the sirloin steak, my brother had the jerk chicken. I had one of the best salads I've ever had and the best bread I've ever had in my life. My mother had the halibut. Each one of these plates were delicious absolutely scrumptious nobody left a single thing on their plate. The drinks were also absolutely out of this world except my mother got a tropical mixed drink nonalcoholic and it was a little bit too sweet . The only thing negative thing about this restaurant is that they add service charges and their own gratuity which is 20%. The food is expensive but it's completely worth it. The portions aren't big they're perfect. So that's my review I would say absolutely go and try this place order all the things that we ordered. They were absolutely scrumptious and good we would go back absolutely. read more

We (the wife and I) came here just for drinks and queso fundito. It's a cool modern Mexican place. I'd give the queso a solid 4 stars. It was very good, with a good ratio of chip to dip (wife liked it, but not as impressed as I was). The drinks were just okay though, nothing special (for the price). They lacked pizzazz. The place did have a good atmosphere. Lively, but not too loud where you have to yell to hear the person next to you. Overall, it didn't seem worth the price. I feel like there are so many Mexican places that have better value. I would like to go back and give it another shot, and try an entree. The carnitas did look and smell really good. read more

This place is cute inside, and the drinks are decent- but don't expect great food or service here. Not sure if our waiter was hyped on adderall or rumplemints, but his movements were a little uncontrolled as he slid plates onto the table, knocking the silverware onto my lap and plates into each other, among other odd behaviors. Double check your bill for drinks they tell you they can't make but charge you for anyway and don't expect drinks you do order to make it to you. Most of the food we ordered was ok, but we had one plate that was basically inedible. The broccoli (which adventurously comes with french fries) was so salty, no one could eat it. I would request a regular shaped table next time! Our waiter was excellent and never missed a beat. Rum selection was excellent with Abuelo aged and Xacapa. Nice surprise. My reservation was on a Monday @ 8PM. Restaurant was still pretty busy. As far as service goes I could tell mine was also the bartender for the night so he did take a while to get back and forth to us. This didn't bother me but people who are not in the industry will not understand something like this. Server did recommend for us. We started off with the "Elote" and it was so good!! Something I know I will want in the near future again! I ordered the jerk chicken and my bf ordered the steak(forgot the name) Those were a huge let down. The chicken had blood still and was pink all over. The steak we ordered medium and it was very very salty !!! Because the server took so long to check back on us we didn't send anything back. We ended the night with churros and a raspberry sorbet. Both very good. I personally am not huge on churros but they were amazing here. This is probably my favorite place to go to at this time in Denver. I like the latin inspired food menu, the flavours and presentation of each dish are great, some dishes are a bit spicy for my taste but I still enjoy them. The staff sevice is amazing, they make you feel welcome and at home. The cocktails are amazing, I especially like the Anis Pisco Sour. I am Colombian and we Latin people enjoy great food, drinks and especially great music and this place has it all. The music is excellent so much that I feel I want to start dancing everytime I'm here. Loved that this spot opened up so close to our house. We've been here twice already and everything was great both times. Try to sit outside on the patio as it seems like a much calmer dining experience than inside. The food: ceviches are incredibly fresh; queso fundido was more like a regular queso; not as thick as a typical fundido, but was fantastic (I have a high bar for queso coming from Houston)- don't forget to add the chorizo! I also recommend the quesadilla, veal carnitas, and the crispy pork tail (my favorite dish of them all). Also had the churros for dessert and they were awesome. They had great margs, superb. But their food might be the most disappointed I've ever been with a meal in denver. We ordered a broccoli and mushroom dish that had literally one oyster mushroom with some broccoli smothered in teriyaki sauce. All of that was on top of a ton of French fries?!?
