There was a young long blonde hair surfer (KEVIN) that helped us from start to finish he was very attentive and got us everything we needed (extremely quick) he checked on us multiple times making sure were all good, food was amazing drinks didnt get low overall killer experience thanks to KEVIN the long hair hippy and the cooks who killed it also!!!!!! But we absolutely love grubbys, the owner Justin was so friendly and really went out of his way to make sure everyone was enjoying their experience tonight at their opening night,(we are active customers at the carlsbad location). Opening night at the new location in Oceanside went amazingly smooth! The staff was on it- food came out quick and was delicious. My fiancé got the recommended al pastor Torta- he loved it. And I had the pollo asada bowl! It was loaded with chicken, veggies, rice, pinto beans and Guac! It was delicious. Came late afternoon for a late lunch. The restaurant wasn't particularly dirty, but there were tons of flies circling. I ordered a pastor burrito and my partner ordered a carne asada/pastor burrito. The pastor was bland and extremely greasy. The chunks I got were mostly solid fat. The mixed burrito my partner had was tasty and cheesy. The salsas were great. Unfortunately, both of us got sick. Not sure if it was due to the amount of grease, or something else. But, I won't be coming back to risk it. read more

We found this location by driving by but I had seen it on Yelp a few days earlier. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the suggestions given by the employees. The Chips and Queso were very good. Hubby had nachos, which he enjoyed. I had a the taco plate. I liked the carnitas the best. Son on Pollo Asado burrito and loved it. This has become my new favorite place to eat. The service is the best here and the food is second to none. I like getting their cheese dip with a meal. So amazing!!! They make the food fresh and it only takes a few minutes after you order it and they bring it out to you. Lots of TV's around the place with surf, sports, etc playing. Finally got a chance to visit this new location on a taco Tuesday. My husband and I ordered the pastor tacos. They came out burnt, hard, and cold. They tasted like charcoal. The meat was chunky and hurt my mouth. Super disappointed!! The meat needs to be shredded and should be juicy!! Hello?!! So my husband went back up to the register to order something edible and noticed the cook in the back flipping a spatchula. Well he dropped it on the floor. The service was exceptional, and they checked in on us and offered us refills when we where empty. I went there tonight and ordered the carne asada nachos. I had to get it to go because of stay at home . The food was excellent. The toppings were overflowing and the meat was wonderful and lean, no strange fat or gristle, the fresh cilantro and onions and guacamole were the best I've ever had, and I have been eating in oceanside for 20 years. It was the best nachos I ever tasted. The guys serving were very nice and gave me plenty of salsa and limes on the side. Grubbys totally exceeded my expectations. For being located in a somewhat tourist location, the locals need to check this one out. The food is definitely worth making it your NEW GO TO RESTARAUNT!! And prices are reasonable. My boyfriend brought me to this restaurant & I didn't even know it was being built in Oceanside so when I saw it and the incredible design I was excited! The lighting is SO unique and it is such a nice change up to be in a bright space! The aesthetic is super ~cool~ and I loved the whole vibe. Micheladas were delicious.
