This is my new favorite spot. Great location by Minnehaha Park and amazing seafood. The Cajun battered clam fries were delish. I plan to try a crawfish poboy next time! Lots of seating options and a great beer selection. Takes a little while to get your food when it's busy, but it's worth the wait. The prices are reasonable, and you get large portions. I've had seafood on the coast, and this is just as good. So happy to have finally tried the sea salt eatery! With lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce. **I was not expecting this massive portion of crawfish on this thing at the modest price point! This thing was overflowin'! Just the right amount of spice and hot sauce too. I've wanted to go to Sea Salt for years now, but have always felt intimidated by how busy it is. Today was the day though, Mother's Day -- I was determined and I'm glad I finally got to check out this place. My husband and I both got a crawfish po' boy and fries to share -- both were really good. I'm glad they super filled the po' boy because be prepared to lose a few of the crawfish. The fries maybe seemed a little expensive for how much you actually get though. Oh, and the half shell oysters were excellent! For seating, there are a couple small tables inside (it was cold today so I wish we could have sat inside.). There are also tables outside, as well as long cafeteria style seating in a sheltered area that's connected. What a cool spot!! Earlier in the summer I was on a long bike ride with a big group of family and little did I know we'd be having a really great seafood lunch smack dab in the middle of the park. It's an incredibly beautiful area, right next to Minnehaha falls. The park had plenty of tables so the 10+ of us had no trouble at all finding space. We ordered through our phones and got notifications when the food was ready to be picked up and the process couldn't have been more simple. They had napkins, utensils and everything else we'd need in the bag and staff were all wearing masks. I got the fish tacos (a go-to order of mine) and they were really good, maybe a bit dry but still really tasty. Definitely stop by while the weather is still beautiful! Calamari was like any other, if anything it had some overused oil taste. calamari taco was edible, and not-impressive. Crab cake was not at all good and crab stuffed avocado was just meh. My conclusion is: people don't come here for the food, but for the weather and surrounding. Time to update my review from so long ago. Over these past several years, their calamari tacos have been my favorite selection, in fact my "only" selection. So far in 2022, I've been to Sea Salt twice - first time was a month or two ago, when I tried their fried shrimp basket (which was EXCELLENT - hot, crunchy outside and very tender, perfectly done shrimp inside), and earlier this week, when I reverted to ordering my mainstay, the calamari tacos. When my order arrived I found my tacos literally swimming in the special sauce they use. From underneath that wet mess I fished out a piece of fried calamari and popped it into my mouth. It was cold and tough. I took a bite of the wet mess that was supposed to be a taco and found it overwhelmingly tasting only of their special sauce and the calamari tough and cold - not hot, crisp and tender as it always had been over the years. With some quick thinking and reasoning, I decided to return my basket to the staff to complain and to request a new order. I waited a few minutes at the counter and then was handed another basket, supposedly "fresh" made. Upon returning to my table and taking a bite, though, again, the taco was swimming in special sauce, and the calamari was "tough", and certainly not "hot"; instead, it was lukewarm at best. After this experience, I won't be ordering their calamari tacos again, sadly, because, apparently, the staff they have now don't understand much about assembling tacos with seafood in them. I believe that people want to taste the seafood in their tacos, and not slurp a puddle of "special sauce" and chew on some things that happen to be swimming in it. read more

It was a glorious day, the first day of Fall, and the perfect reason to get my fill of fabulous sea food before cold weather settles in and this gem of a restaurant across from Minnehaha Falls closes for the winter. The setting can't be beat. The Falls was roaring. The music pleasant. The crowd clearly enjoying the lovely weather and the come hither smells eminating from the kitchen. Since my last visit they've improved the ordering and delivery system to almost a science. So, no more intermitably long, slow-moving lines to order and then wait, and wait, for your food to arrive. Despite lunch hour and the great weather, finding an outside table on the Falls side was not a problem. Before we knew it, our food was delivered by a very friendly server. We had the gazpacho, which came with several large shrimp and a side of tortilla chips. Delicious. That was followed by the Cajun Grilled Catfish Po' Boy. Yikes! When we mentioned the Eatery to a local friend, she told us that it was right by the waterfall in Minnehaha Park. As a result, we arrived a bit early to walk around & then headed over as the restaurant was opening at 11am. Good thing we came early and were the second group in line because it got super busy soon after. We ended up getting the Fried Fish basket and the Fried Shrimp Po'Boy for lunch. My husband really enjoyed the fish & said it was probably the best fried fish he has had in a few years. The Shrimp Po'Boy was pretty good; I can't believe I am going to say this but ... I personally would've enjoyed it more if the shrimp had more breading. While the baskets are served with slaw, the Po'Boys are not served with anything. It would've been nice if the fish & seafood would've come with fries as they are at other places (especially considering the price). The only reason for minus 1 star is because everything (tables & floors) outside & inside was really dirty. Maybe it's as a result of being located in the middle of the park. My girlfriend and I went here over Labor Day weekend. Great spot to take an out of towner after checking out Minnehaha Falls. No reservations so it took us about half an hour to get seated. Sea Salt staff has done a great job with COVID-19 protocols making sure everyone is safe and socially distanced. Service was order at the counter top and then they would bring your food out to you. Mostly everything was disposable and tons of sanitizing going on. I had the Fried Catfish Po Boy along with a bag of chips. Nice piece of Catfish that had the local hot sauce Cry Baby Craig on it (goat of hot sauces). Bread was grilled and the mayo was nice and creamy.
