First time in Minnesota so someone had recommended seeing the in-city falls. Saw the Sea Salt as I walked to the falls. Did not even expect to get hungry or have a meal at the falls but when I saw the platters of fish being carried out to patrons I had to get in line. The line was long but went fast. They are extremely organized and ready for a crowd inside. Ordered and paid at counter and food is brought to the table with a number system. My crab cake and basket of fries was delicious! There are tables inside and out so lots of seating possibilities. It definitely feels like a destination place and there is merch if you want a souvenir. Was very excited I got to try it out before they closed for the season! read more

I've been here at least half a dozen times. Sometimes just for beers, other time it's just for food, sometimes just to meet people at the falls. I actually really love their food here. My biggest beef has always been that I think it is overpriced for what you get. And, while that may be true, you do get a fair amount of food and it is really freaking good. This week we got a crawfish Poboy and a shrimp basket. The crawfish Poboy was overflowing with crawfish and they were really good. A little too spicy for my liking and I wasn't the one eating the whole thing. I got the shrimp basket and the shrimp were good size and I really like the breading. I also like the coleslaw. The cantaloupe was not ripe and so I could've done without that. I might try a shrimp Po boy the next time. I love that they have lots of beer and wine options and the service is always fast and friendly. They are now doing a mandatory 15% gratuityWhich means you can't add more and you can't take away less. For some that's good, for others not as much. You'll be the judge. read more

Do you ever wonder when you walk past the Sea Salt Eatery's line at Minnehaha Falls if it "is worth the wait"? Well guess no more because YES it is definitely worth it. Waiting in line is the most dicouraging part about the Sea Salt Eatery's experience. It's because of the wait in line and the wait to get the food is why I didn't give it a 5 star review. ANYWAY TO THE FOOD- My Favorite thing ever! Oysters! They were from a city in Washington the day I went and although they looked very ugly, they were delicious! A little lemon, cocktail sauce, horseradish and the sweetness of the oyster were a perfect combo. Especially on a warm day, it was truly refreshing. The Crab Stuffed Avacado was awesome. It's light and refreshing. Make sure you put some lime on it and eat it with the chips. The New England Clam Chowder was tasty. It had good chunks of clams and the broth had just the right thickness to it. The Shrimp Po'Boy was my least favorite but it's my own personal preference the shrimp had a fishy taste to it that I didn't like and it was a little dry. Sea Salt Eatery is BACK and open for the 2021 season! I went on their season opener day and was absolutely blown away by how good our meal was. We had the calamari tacos, the crawfish poboy, and fries. YES, they have fries now! The tacos were huge and piled with great toppings. The crawfish was perfectly breaded and fried. They do sell beer and wine, and the Fulton beer truck is often there outside on the weekends. With COVID, they only have outdoor seating, so make sure to go when the weather is nice. They also have live music outside from time to time which is super fun. So glad to have Sea Salt back and can't wait to visit again this summer! read more

While the line can be intimidating, the food is top notch. I usually stick with the fish sandwich and calamari as my stand by. Recently had Swordfish tacos that were on special and they were great as well. A friend had the calamari tacos (her go-to order) which looked fantastic. Sited outside in a park next to a waterfall with frequent free live music nearby, you can't beat the setting. Only complaint is that the prices can be a little steep, especially on alcohol. A glass of hard cider (which I really appreciate that they carry) cost (if I recall correctly) $8 for a 9 oz serving. To minimize your wait to order, come on a week day evening after 7 pm. read more

I love this place and visit every time I am in Minneapolis. A wonderful outdoor setting. This is a fish, oyster cafeteria style place with a great outdoor park seating in Minnehaha Park next to the Minnehaha Falls. They have great food, beer, wine, ice cream and a great outdoor and indoor seating. The line can be long but moves at a good pace and you can go up and get beer while waiting in line. Sea Salt has a beautiful location along Minnehaha and easily accessible by the multiple trails whether or biking or walking. It's an order at the window place and they offer a decent variety of ocean cuisine. We order crab cakes, fried fish tacos, and a grilled fish taco. The grilled taco was dry and the crab cake was very soggy and not cake like at all. The corn salsa was also too salty. I really enjoyed the fried tacos though. They were a perfect texture and flavor and my husband and I both agreed these were the best. The crab cake did have good flavor, but I didn't like the soggy texture. It needed more breading or binding. The space is large and I really enjoyed the live music. Prices are decent, especially for the location, I just wish the food experience was a little better. I did like the option of getting Sebastian Joes ice cream with just a short walk to the other side of the building. It made for a beautiful dinner by the park, and it's a great place to take visitors, but I personally don't think it's worth waiting in a long line for. read more

Wonderful experience at Sea Salt! The grilled catfish po'boy and house salad were delicious. I waited about 15-20 minutes around noon on a week day, not bad at all and definitely worth it. I do wish they offered online ordering ahead of time but I also understand why they don't do it and it's certainly not a deal breaker. I came here finely after perusing the menu every summer that I am living in MN for over a decade, and I understand why this establishment is so popular. During the second annual Minnehaha Falls Art and Crafts Fair, I ate here twice in a row while helping out a friend who had a booth at the fair. The first time, I had the fried oyster po-boy with fries and my friend had the crab cakes platter. I did not get a chance to try the crab cakes but oh my my...the fries were delicious, crispy and not greasy, and the oyster po-boy actually, truly shocked me in how good it was. I've had my fair share of oyster po-boys while living on the US East Coast and this one...was reminiscent and commendable for as a land locked state as you can get. The fry on it was crispy and, consistent with the fries, not greasy or soggy. And true to a good fried oyster po-boy, the oysters were still with a perfect texture and not at all over cooked! Not an easy feat, especially when there was a 15-20 minute wait for food, so they were turning out food as quickly as quality could allow! They also have a good list of local brews, although I do not drink beer so I cannot speak to the beer. They offer wine as well. Also, there are healthier options such as salads and soups that also looked (and smelt) great. I recommend coming here and when I have out of town guests visiting, I will bring them here if it is during the summer. read more

We never had a chance to try the food. There were so few customers that the staff never even took our order.Nobody greeted us or asked us if we'd like help. The menu is on the wall about 5 feet away from the order station. We were standing in front of the menu and asked for some explanation, but the staff said we had to come over to the order station, since they only came over to the menu area when it was busy (?!). Perplexing as that seems, there were 4 staff members loitering around the cash register, checking their devices and gabbing. We felt that at least one of them could help us out, but they were unwilling to answer a simple question about the menu unless we walked over to them, where the menu was difficult to read. We left without ordering and went to a welcoming neighborhood restaurant. We hope your experience is better than ours with these self-entitled children. read more

We came to Sea Salt on a hot day but it was worth the wait! A nearby Surly beer truck kept us cooled off as we waited to place our order. We found a table in the shade and our food was quickly delivered to our table. I had the shrimp roll, a refreshing take on the Boston lobster roll. Our kids had fried shrimp and clam fries, and my spouse enjoyed grilled mahi tacos. Honestly, we can't wait to go back and try different items! After lunch, we walked down to the falls and cooled off in the creek with many others looking for ways to cool off. On our way back to the car, we stopped for a scoop of ice cream next to Sea Salt. The fish taste was really strong and so horrible not worth for pricey food. The breading part wasn't great. I Love fish myself but not for this one. Definitely will not recommend anyone who has a strong taste bud. Also bean and rice with chips from appetizer menu taste very bland. My mother in law is from Honduras. We both know how to make delicious tasty refried beans even black beans. She didn't Like it. Strawberry Kiwi beer is not wow and it in small cup size. Wish they had sweet drink less of grain and yeast to offer not all of boring beer. Including beverages that offer root beer, sprite, tea, orange juice, and apple juice it look ridiculous. Cool place but overly popular. We came here for dinner one night. First of all, the location is superb, right in the middle of the park next to the beautiful waterfall. The line was out the door, but luckily it moved pretty fast. However by the time we got to the front of the line, many things on the menu were sold out. We wanted oysters but that was sold out. We placed our order and waited, waited and waited. It took over 40min for us to get our food while I was being eaten alive by mosquitos. I'm not a fan of waiting when I'm hungry. When we finally got our food, I was covered in large red bumps including my forehead. Talk about unattractive. The mussels were very good, really liked the walnut sauce. The catfish poboy was also very tasty and pretty big. My favorite is the pickled herring appetizer, first time I've had this, and it was impressive. So here's my breakdown: food - 4 stars cleanliness - 2 stars: many tables were dirty and several broken and was unstable wait - 0 stars Parking is 75c/hour in the adjacent lot. Randomly decided to grab a bite to eat here after walking around Minehaha Falls. I came on a Saturday afternoon around 1-2PM and the place was packed. The service was really slow due to the crowd. I ordered the fried crawfish po'boy. The sandwich was toasted perfectly with shredded lettuce, tomato, tartar sauce, hot sauce, and piled high with fried crawfish. I came here thinking this place was going to easily be a 5. They're only open during summer, but they usually have great seafood dishes, so it's worth the winter wait. I knew about the long line, but call me strange, I don't have an issue with that. I enjoy grabbing a beer and chit chatting with friends while I wait. It also makes it more suspenseful, like dang this is going to be a good meal. They have a small selection of beer and wine, but it's good beer. I settled on a Surly Hell and got ready for the wait. It was a nice day for October, started off around 70, and slowly dropped off to lower 60's. Minnehaha is a beautiful area though so we get to see the lovely fall trees and hear the waterfall close by while the sun sets. Once we got closer to the front I see that there are a lot of items sold out. Clam fries, jalapeño cornbread, crab cake sandwiches, walleye sandwiches, and ahi tuna burger, gone. This was a bummer. About 45 minutes later, which isn't too bad in my opinion, we ordered. We decided on calamari, fried scallop tacos, and a soft shell crab sandwich. We got our number for our table, then looked for a table. There's outdoor and indoor picnic style tables for seating. We sat outside on the patio. Don't expect much here, just enjoy the scenery. As it got darker I noticed there wasn't much lighting on the patio. I wish there were bigger bulbs or even more strings of light, that would have helped the atmosphere. Inside was sort of depressing as there were tables, but you're surrounded by stored bicycles and the bathrooms, so we stayed outside. Our wait on food after ordering was an issue for me. We watched as they slowly brought trays out. Our number was 84, they were bringing out 46. Uh oh. We noticed it was going in order too, so my hope that there were numbers skipped was squashed quickly. It took an hour and a half for food, this was turning into a 3 hour meal. The biggest disappointment, however, was that our food was cold! You'd think it would have came right from the fryer and to our table, but it was all cold. The temperature of all the food was the same as my cold coleslaw. The flavors on the tacos and soft shell crab were excellent. The fried scallop tacos came with a corn salsa, it was sweet and creamy, really good. The soft shell crab was my favorite. It was perfectly fried, had a nice crunch, and a tangy aioli. The calamari was "so so." The aioli dip with the calamari had too much lemon in it, I squeezed lemon on the calamari before I tasted it so that sort of ruined it. Had all the menu items been available, the wait after we sat been a little shorter, and all the food been hot, I would have given Sea Salt a 5 for sure. The food hasn't even arrived but this is an entirely customer service review. As me and my husband (and our three young kids) arrived there was one family ahead of us who were visible Hindu/Indian and wearing traditional clothing. We are a Muslim family and i wear a scarf. As they walked up the stairs there was maitre d in sight at the table at the top of the stairs so they took a step towards the restraint when the man pictured below begins yelling at them "woah; move back move back, push back please" he was extremely rude where even i felt super affronted on their behalf. Before the poor family gets a chance to speak he glances at our family below them and says, "nope, i can't take a big group like you guys" Only thing that makes us similar is we're both brown families. He says other things in a rude tone and the family end up leaving and not coming back. My husband takes over as I'm so upset I can't even talk and as he tells us which table to go to, he shouts out "he needs a mask" at my 7 year old son who is literally holding his mask about to put it on. (Btw this is outdoor dining) I watch as this man suddenly becomes the most polite maitre d ever as he greets one white familiar after the other even going up to some that are waiting in line to pet their dogs. The only other time I saw him become rude again was when i saw him bark at a visible Hispanic woman to give more space between her and the family above her. Super disappointed at being made to be treated differently because of my skin color. My money is still green though just like the white families. Update**** I wanted to post my thoughts on the food as well. It was very bland. The shrimp and fish had little to no taste and the portion size was very small. Sea Salt Eatery has become one of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis, and for good reason. It's situated in a beautiful scenic park both in the rain as well as in the hot summer evenings. As a seafood addict, I was curious as to how a restaurant in a park could be raved about so highly. Now after trying it once, I came back again a second day just to have more of it. Yes- it is THAT good. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. On our first visit, we rushed in to avoid the downpour that had ensued. I ordered a round of Clam Fries ($10) and the Fried Scallop Tacos ($6). The clam fries weren't my favorite and I can't really recommend them, but the scallop tacos were BOMB. There were so many pieces that you'll definitely find them worth it. Our second visit was the following evening because it was THAT good. Plus, Joshua B. and I had wanted to taste their calamari, and we were not disappointed. We also ordered a Fried Fish Basket that came with four pieces, slaw, and a slice of cantaloupe. The fish was amazing and breaded/fried to near perfection. While the line was a bit long the second night, they stayed open until everyone was served which was fantastic. Plus, one of the amazing workers remembered us and my name when I came back for a refill on my drink. It's truly the little things. I love this place! Not just the restaurant, but everything that surrounds it as well. Plenty of parking at 11am and no line. Parking cost $1 an hour or $13 max. Plenty of outdoor seating with awesome scenery surrounding you. Check the board when you enter for the specials of the day. We got the beer steamed mussles with fries and lemon aioli. Nice size portion and if you like beer, you'll definitely taste a hint of it. Mussles were fresh and the aioli was so good. A must when we visit is the soft shell crab sandwich for $15.95. A good sized sandwich as well. They split the crab in half on the sandwich, making it easier to share. It comes with a side of cole slaw. Lots of hot sauces to choose from if you're looking for a little spice. After you eat, make a point of checking out the waterfall and walk off your big meal by doing a nice round trip hike around the park. Take the hike all the way to bridge 5.
