The food was good. Disappointed that with the name Sea Shell there was very little seafood, but the food was decent. Someone got the fries and those were crispy, too! Surprisingly, their chips were Ruffles or similar. I don't like soggy fries, so I typically choose chips. Here, I'd recommend the fries instead. Service was not good at all. It took us a long time to get drinks and we were unable to get refills. Food came out quickly, but not impressed with the service for drinks.

Local bar that we stopped in for lunch to try for Fish Friday! We ordered mostly off their lent menu except for the fried mushrooms which were great & they have good ranch! We also ordered the large fish sandwich (which is so much food) & the crab po-boy, both with Haluski. The sandwiches were pretty good, but the Haluski lacked flavor for us but still good being that I'm sure they are serving a ton on Fridays. Place was super packed but still had great service!

The weds. special, roast beef in white bread with fries and gravy. Get mushrooms with this! Heck, get double mushrooms!

From now on, only five stars for places I like, and two for places I don't. I have been grabbing lunch here for about a year now, and the service is always friendly, the food is always good, and it has a cast of characters at the bar who all know each other and are friendly and happy and don't talk politics or religion. Oh, and the food is really good. Usual array of sandwiches and hoagies. And a daily special. Also good chili and Friday's are standard fish day, in this area, you can count on places that do the fish on Friday thing. I recommend the French dip hoagie. Get extra mushrooms. I tossed in a picture of the Weds. special, which was roast beef on white bread with fries covered in gravy. Sorry, no mashed potatoes, which would be great! But the fries are hot. Just ask for extra gravy and sautéed mushrooms and you're doing good! And Friday fish is great also!

Not impressed. female bartenders are a little snotty, especially if you're not one of the local bar flies. Food was decent though.

They also have a big menu for drinks at a pretty reasonable price. I was surprised about how many people were there for an early dinner on a Thursday, must be a popular local spot! We had the smashed fingerling potatoes, it was pretty delicious and I liked the ranch that came with it. There was a lot of toppings on top too! For my main, I got the seafood risotto. It had shrimps and bay scallops. It had a generous amount of seafood in it. By then I was full but they had good sounding desert, including a GF Bundt cake! I wish I had saved some space for it. For my drinks, I had one of their speciality mules: Maggie's mule. It was kind of too sweet for me.

And served piping hot and stayed hot (how do they do that?). Drinks: good but nothing special. Great selection of local tap beers, local spirits left a lot to be desired. Two vodka options and neither are worth drinking. I didn't bother looking at whiskey as PA doesn't have any worth anything. Service: absolutely terrible. Sat for 15 minutes with no attention. Finally had to flag down the host and it still took another 5 minutes. Complete amateur servers. Never checked back after meals served and server spent all her time socializing with other employees at the entrance. No management on site it appears - it shows!

My husband and I went for an early Mothers Day dinner and we can't wait to go back for the chef's table experience. My husband enjoyed the elk dish while I enjoyed the halibut. From there, you enter the restaurant and are greeted by the hostess. There seemed to be several different dining areas--an upstairs area, a room off to the side, and another dining room down a few steps. The lower dining room is also ADA accessible. I don't drink alcohol, so I was happy to see that they had a few mocktail options. We started with the heirloom tomato salad and OMG. This was genuinely one of the best things I've ever tasted. The peaches, basil sorbet, tomatoes, and that bite of vinegar were SO complementary. Every bite had something going on. I ate the entire thing myself and didn't even offer any to my husband, which probably says more than anything else I could write about it. We also tried the mushrooms, smoked olives, and grilled peaches. My husband really enjoyed the mushrooms and peaches. I was more indifferent toward those dishes--they were perfectly fine, but the tomato salad was such a standout that nothing else we had to start came close for me. For my entrée, I ordered the smoked cod rigatoni. This one unfortunately wasn't my favorite. It was fine, but there was an oddly gamey flavor to it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I love smoked flavors, so I don't think it was simply the smokiness--there was just something about the flavor that didn't work for me. My husband ordered the halibut and absolutely loved it. For dessert, we shared the banana PB&J, and my husband also ordered an affogato. Interestingly, they used chocolate syrup in the affogato, which he had never had before, so that was a fun and unexpected twist. Overall, Hyeholde is absolutely worth experiencing at least once. The setting is beautiful and unlike almost anywhere else in Pittsburgh, the service and atmosphere make dinner feel like an occasion, and that heirloom tomato salad alone is something I'll be thinking about for a long time. Not every dish was a home run for me, but the ones that were really stood out.

No one came by to provide any kind of explanation. When the food finally arrived, my fries were cold and we had to ask twice for refills on our beverages. We had to go to the bar to get utensils and napkins because the server never brought them. As we were leaving, a couple at another table had just gotten their food and had the same problem-- they needed utensils and napkins. Please see my attached photos for the dinner menu in May 2026. My husband and I have eaten two meals here. The service during our first visit was prompt, while the service during our second visit was a bit slower but always courteous. Here are my husband's and my ratings for our foods across both visits: Bread - 4.5 stars - This bread was free, and it came with olive oil. It was fresh and tasted good. Strawberry salad - 4.5 stars - The mixed greens, strawberries, pecans, and goat cheese were fresh and tasted very good. I liked that the right amount of vinaigrette dressing was added. Soup of the day - 4 stars - The soup was cream of mushroom. I received a large cup of it, and I liked it. Dynamite shrimp - 4.5 stars - My husband said that this appetizer was his favorite food here. A large number of fried shrimps were coated in a slightly spicy sauce. Tuna poke - 3.5 stars - The tuna, avocado, and mango tasted plain, so we added much salt. The wonton chips look slightly burned. Jumbo lump crab cake dinner - 4.5 stars - This entree contained one large crab cake that was very meaty and flavorful (5 stars). On the side was asparagus (4.5 stars) and rice (4 stars). Filet mignon - 4.5 stars - My husband ordered this filet mignon twice. The chef cooked the first steak as my husband had requested, but the second steak was slightly overcooked. Nonetheless, he enjoyed the flavors of the steak and the sides of garlic mashed potatoes and green beans with the right amount of butter and pepper. Chilean sea bass - 3.5 stars - The fish was tender and came with pineapple fried rice and Asian slaw. Other important information: The dress code appears to be smart-casual.
