Just tried this place out last night and I was really impressed! The pricing is set really well for what you get. I got a great glass of red wine blend to start, priced at $7. Can't really go wrong there! We didn't get appetizers or anything, but I did get one of the chefs specials - Duck,veggies and mango in like a creamy, coconut curry sauce. It was really good. Crunchy duck, crisp veggies, creamy mangos and the sauce. I will say, it was a little heavy on the sauce - but that's how I like it! I think my plate was around $15.00 - great portion too! The Ambiance is fancy, the lighting is dark so it's a great date night spot :) just in a little strip mall off Colonial Dr. The service was good, we got there kind of late and they close at 9:30. We were kind of pushed out the door quicker than we would have liked, but I also get it, it was getting close to 9:30 and they were ready to go. My love for Thai food is unconditional! I could eat Thai food every day if I could. First time venturing out to Sea Thai. Don't judge the book by its cover is my rule of thumb. Outside the restaurant is, well ok. Once you enter there is a fish tank with a few pretty fishes, I was seated immediately which was fantastic being on a Saturday night. I'm not sure who my server was as we had 3 people taking orders, bringing out our food and as needed products. Service definitely needs some work but the staff is friendly so can't be too upset. The food was delicious. For appetizer I ordered chicken dumplings and tom kha soup. Chicken dumplings tasted like store bought and fried. The soup was very flavorful, mushrooms very not cooked so a bit disturbing. For the main course I ordered chicken green curry and chicken pad Thai. Loved it!!! The main course was absolutely delicious, nothing else to say but definitely order both if you try this restaurant. Don't be fooled by the unassuming outside appearance. Although it's not a big restaurant, it's got quite a bit of seating. And the servers are very attentive. I've never had a bad meal here. The tom yum soup is delicious - probably my favorite in the area. The chicken in the sweet and sour dish is always white meat - and not fried, which is what I prefer. And I love the summer rolls. I've been coming to Sea Thai for many years and while I enjoy the darkly lit downtempo atmosphere the food can be a hit or a miss. On my recent trip I ordered their tom yum goong, papaya salad, chinese broccoli with garlic, nam sod with pork, and smokey pot. The tom yum had 3 shrimp, a decent amount of mushrooms, but lack of other ingredients. I feel like a thick layer of chili oil in the bowl is often an indicator of using a tom yum paste. This soup had the layer of chili oil but also had some nice lemongrass and kafir lime flavors. It was not exceptional but not bad either. $5 The papaya salad is a decent size/value for $6. The shredded green papaya is tossed in a solution of lemon juice, sugar, salt, and fish sauce. The lemon juice is strong in this papaya salad and their is no basil to balance out the acidity. Overall, it is a nice appetizer and sometimes it comes with some tasty crunchy green beans. They were not present in this order however. The chinese broccoli with garlic is a new item on their tapas menu. It was a small portion but only $4 and thoroughly enjoyable. The bitter green vegetle element was complimented nicely with roasted garlic and light oyster sauce. The nam sod is always a good choice. The flavors are balanced well and the minced protein is presented with lime juice, mint/herbs, dry chili, sugar, ground nuts, and a healthy serving of fresh shredded ginger. One of my favorite entrees on the menu is the Smokey Pot. It is one of the more simple and subtle dishes at Seathai. It consists of glass noodles, cabbage, shrimp, chicken, cinnamon, star anise, and ginger cooked in a hot black pot. The flavors all intermingle and the result is a comforting and soothing herbal noodle dish. There is some noticeable overlap in the flavors and sauces Seathai uses for their dishes and some are better than others. The Pad Thai on this recent visit was too sweet and saucy for my taste. I was really impressed by the lunch specials here. They have plenty of options, and most are under $10. Right now due to the pandemic they are only doing take out, which we did not know. We ended up ordering our food at the counter and just waiting in the restaurant. I must say, the restaurant does smell a bit odd. The food was pretty good! Sitting at another restaurant on Valentine's day, we were talking to our server (who happens to also be a friend) about great Thai options in Orlando. As we chatted, a gentleman from the table next to us interrupted and insisted we try Sea Thai. He said it is the best in Orlando. The fresh Summer rolls with creamy peanut sauce (it's more like luscious peanut paste) come in a set of three. Shrimp & Chicken, basil leaves, julienne carrot, lettuce and vermicelli. Absolutely perfect to start your pallet and quench your taste buds for the opening of a fabulous meal. On my most recent visit I went with #66 - Smokey Pot Marinated shrimp and chicken, glass noodles, fresh ginger, scallions, celery, cilantro in Thai herbs and spices, smoked and cooked in a pot. The pot is delivered smoking hot to your table (hence the name) with a side of jasmine rice. It was delicious. There were cinnamon sticks in there that I thought was going to turn me off but all the flavors worked great together. There are always people in here but I have never had to wait. It's crazy to me that I have never written a review for my most favorite Thai spot in town! I almost don't want to give them any love, so I can keep them from getting any busier than they already are. Sea Thai is situated in an unassuming small plaza across from the Fashion Square Mall. Their menu selection is huge, with all the usual Thai goodies: Pad Thai, a great selection of curries, Pad See U (a personal favorite), etc. I feel like I have had enough items on the menu that I could plan anyone's meal for them, tailored to their tastes and preferences. The yellow curry, with beef or shrimp is amazing. With carrots, peas, and onion, in a savory sauce, it is quite filling. I usually take half to go, and ask for an extra side of rice so I can have lunch the next day. Lately, the pangang curry has been a go to. Really nice flavors. The massaman curry has a great peanut taste! When I am not in the mood for curry (which is rare), the Pad See U is a great noodle dish. I love the beef and veggies and the perfect soy-based sauce. You can't go wrong with the Panang duck. This dish is huge, so be prepared to either share or bring half home. But it is just as good as leftovers the next day. The larb salad has the best lime-y dressing, so refreshing. And the Thai coconut soup is amazing. I could go on and on. The flavors of every dish I have had is always excellent. Oh, and you can't end your meal without an order of Thai donuts, little fried pockets of dough with the best sweet dipping sauce. We got the appetizer sampler so we could taste everything, it was okay, nothing was great and I'm glad we didn't commit to one appetizer alone because I wouldn't have wanted so much of one. I got the smokey pot, it was just weird, there was a lot of cinnamon and clove, those flavors are strong and don't taste right with shrimp for me. The noodles were lacking in flavors other than clove. My boyfriend got the masaman curry, it was missing the kick that curry is supposed to have. It was very sweet and bland for a curry. My sister got the pineapple fried rice and it was dry and unsalted. We got a side of peanut sauce and poured that on it, then some of the curry. Then it wasn't so dry anymore. Friend enjoyed the Massaman curry with shrimp and I enjoyed the Panang curry with tofu and shrimp. First time I tried a protein combo and it was delish, I'll be ordering that again. The Panang curry is like Thai crack for me -at bite #1 I feel like I cannot get enough. The sauce is so flavorful, a nice blend of spices and coconut milk. Shrimp fire cracker was great. Second time I arrived I ordered Panang curry. For appetizer, I ordered chicken Tom Yum soup. The soup had plenty of chicken. Pnanang curry was decent. This place is definitely cool and a big change of pace of what you would expect when walking in into a Thai restaurant. Modern decor, high energy vibe, dimmed lights and pop music in the background. The service was amazing, all the staff was super nice and attentive and relatively fast service. The food however, I did not find it to be great but rather very mild and subtle in flavor and I don't mean that as if it wasn't spicy but throughout the night all the food was lacking seasoning and kick that Thai cuisine it's very well known for. I've had a lot of Thai food around Orlando and I would honestly rank this place with some of the bottom ones on my list strictly based on the food :-/ if these guys would put out better food they will be a top winner and very hard to beat. My wife is a big fan of peanut butter sauce so she order the chicken with the peanut butter sauce but was quickly disappointed when she got some sort of peanut paste instead of sauce. It tasted as if it Came out of a can Instead of fresh-made. We also order the pineapple fried rice, again not flavor at all on the rice, it was very bland and the meats in there were paled, they had not even a slightest bit of color nor charred to them. It looked unappetizing. Remember, we eat with our eyes first! and though they have pretty nice presentation of the dishes you can't forget to actually add some pronounced flavors in there. Last I had was the crispy duck with Panang curry and this was the dish that saved the night for me. The duck was actually crispy and the curry was on point but not a lever to wow me but it was enought to make the dish satisfying for me. The Thai tea sucked here too! and it is real hard to mess that up. I really wanted to like the food in this place when i first walked in since it was such a cool, chill and relaxed vibe but my main focal point is always the food despite how cool a place is, food is the main reason and service coming 2nd I'd frequent a restaurant. The bowl is so large and full of chicken, potatoes, that you can easily share and have leftovers. The red curry was not as spicy or flavorful as I thought it would be. The drunken noodles are the best and pad Thai with chicken are extremely flavorful. We have come back to Sea Thai and tried other dishes. Tiger tear steak is basically steak and peppers. Not even all the hot chili sauce made it tasty. Would be great with some tortillas as fajitas. On the appetizers, the dumplings were ok but presented well. It was a okay Thai restaurant, nothing too special. The service was basic. My food had spicy seasoning sprinkled all over it like it was parsley or something. I personally like my food cooked in seasoning instead of just looking at it on top. The food also needed more gravy to properly cover the rice. The server took it upon herself to give me a old menu with the old prices. I knew the tea didn't come with refills so because it was the same price as the other drinks I ended up with it. When I got my check I noticed a $2 up charge and it was for the food and drink price increase. Instead of fixing it & charging me what was on the menu she basically just said deal with it. I absolutely love Sea Thai! They offer delicious Thai food and you can really get it "Thai Hot" if you request it. The servings are humongous, and they will give you more rice at no charge if you want. And they're definitely not overpriced. The flavors are spot on, and I haven't had anything but a surprisingly excellent experience here. In addition to offering sake, wine, and Asian beers, they do have bottled craft beer on their menu. "Blech!" Were the words that came out of my mouth after I left the restaurant this afternoon. I can't for the life of me understand it I mean.. Look at all the stellar reviews and awards this establishment has won and yet my meal was so mediocre that I only ate 4 spoonfulls before I decided I just couldn't eat anymore. Maybe it's because I ordered the curry. It was crowded, so jam packed that I had to park in the street and walk several minutes before getting to the restaurant, I figured its because it has to be good so I go in really positive about my upcoming meal. I got the spring rolls and the red curry- it wasn't red it was pink and the vegetables tasted like they hadn't even been cooked at all, just dumped in a bunch of raw veggies coconut milk AND it wasn't even spicy. The menu stipulated that it was supposed to be spicy and it wasn't hot, it was luke-warm at best. It was this mess of raw gunk that left a horrible taste in my mouth and I just gave up. The waitress asked me if I didn't like it and I was honest; I said I didn't like it. The spring rolls were ok but I've had curry before and that was THE WORST curry I've had. I'm really sorry to say it. Even more sorry that I had to pay despite the fact I ate practically nothing, AND had a horrible stomach-ache afterwards. The wait staff seemed really sorry and were attentive-but not sorry enough to refund that monstrosity they call curry. Found this place through Orlando yelpers. Over 200 reviews were posted about this place. SEA- stands for South East Asia. So I decided to check it out to see what the fuzz was about. Really good Thai food, but the service is a bit slow. First, it took awhile for a server to visit us after we were seated, then the food came out slow. The worst was when we were finished, and they took FOREVER to bring the bill. We had a coupon and they couldn't seem to figure out how to deduct it from the bill. After several tries, I was about to do it for them! The worst part was they left people waiting for our table. They were real apologetic, so maybe they just had a bad night. Anyways, I got a the Volcano Basil which was brimming with seafood and had just the right requested heat level. The Green Papaya salad was delicious -- highly recommended. We hadn't been to SEA Thai in a while, so we decided to try it for Sunday lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant has had a little interior makeover. By getting rid of the old booths and replacing them with clean wooden tables, the atmosphere has been greatly improved. This continued with updated contemporary dishes.
