It took about 15 minutes before the food wasn't too hot to eat. The pot just keeps everything so hot and it burns your mouth. I ate half of it and took the rest home. Even as I spooned it into the to-go container it was still steaming! When they say smoky pot, they mean it! When I ate the leftovers the next day, I really liked it. It has good flavor, but when served in the pot it is too hot to enjoy. My girlfriend got the pad thai and liked it, but she also said it was spicier than expected. Sea Thai doesn't look like much from the outside, especially since it's in a strip mall with some other shops and a Domino's, however, once you walk in the smell of kitchen hits you and you know you're in for some goooood food. The ambience inside the restaurant is updated and sophisticated, and I loved the hanging basket lights over all the tables. Some of the other reviews here have mentioned that the seating was uncomfortable, but I sat in one of the bench seats and thought it was fine. I ordered the Lemongrass Soup with tofu at a medium spice level. I got my soup pretty quickly and it was delicious and spicy! I was pleasantly surprised with the spice level. It came with onions, mushrooms, and some greens, and was a good serving size for an appetizer. For my main course I ordered the Yellow Curry with tofu. It comes with carrots, potatoes, peas, and onions and white rice on the side. Based on the heat of the Lemongrass Soup I also had my curry at medium spice. My friends ordered the Cashew Nut Stir Fry with shrimp, Massaman Curry, chicken Pad Thai, Tiger Tear Steak, and Coconut Shrimp (appetizer). Everything came out in good time, and we were all very happy with our meals. My curry wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be which was a little disappointing, but it was still delicious and full of flavor. The Pad Thai looked and tasted amazing too! The portions were generous and we all had to get boxes for our leftovers. The prices are very fair here and in the end I paid $15 for an appetizer and main course. Owners apparently don't know how to run their ordering app very well. Ordered a $71 take out order that was supposed to be ready by 7pm tonight. When I tipped them well online and still decided to drive and pick it up this sign greeted me and never was able to get food for my wife and 2 year old son. Coming down with a cold and I wanted something hearty but spicy to drain my sinuses. "CURRY" I thought to myself. Decided to give this place a try since I am always seeing it. The decor was very modern and cute however the tables were extremely uncomfortable. I was sat in a 4 seater with 2 wood chairs and a wood bench, I started in the chair and then moved over to the bench but it wasn't much of an improvement. I then ordered the (Spicy) Red curry lunch special and I opted to make mine veggie and to get a side of salted edamame. Edamame was great, no complaints. However my curry was a bit disappointing. I've had this restaurant bookmarked for quite a while, as I have not found a really memorable Thai restaurant in Orlando...until now. I was pleasantly surprised how busy it was for the lunch hour during a Tuesday - definitely a great sign of things to come. They have some amazing lunch specials and lunch sets that are affordable and tasty. We ordered the duck noodle soup and the panang curry salmon. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted amazingly. The salmon was steamed (my request) so that it was perfectly done. The curry provided a nice spicy and creamy contrast to the fish. Service was really good! Tremendous find. With all the Thai places in my area I was very excited about renting a house near Colonial, but my first outings to Royal Thai left me disappointed. After some research and magazine reviews, and after checking out the very professional website with videos about the hardships of operating a restaurant, I gave Sea a shot, and my family of 4 had a GREAT lunch here (they offer both eat-in AND take-out specials at lunch). This is my 3rd and LAST visit to Sea Thai. What they serve is NOT THAI FOOD! It's not even bad Thai food. They serve Chinese food with randomly assigned Thai names. Pad Prik Khing for instance is stir fried red curry chicken and string beans. Very simple. My meals here have all been more like Chinese food with salty sweet sauce / gravy. Great expectations...Papaya salad, laab and sticky rice on the menu!! That's the trifecta of my favorite Thai dishes...but the reality is it's hard to find true "made to order" Thai food. I don't like sugar in my dishes and the "sauces"are pre made so no customizations. The result is too sweet which although appeals to the majority of palates, it does not appeal to me. Laab had too much sugar and not enough roasted rice powder and no mint! The papaya salad was okay, asked for Thai hot and there was no heat to the dishes. The sticky rice was mushy and the beef salad inedible for me (way too sweet). Unfortunately with great service you can forgive a lot of things but didn't find that here either. We've been to this restaurant before but haven't been here in a while and noticed the decor had changed. There were a few less booths and the restaurant less dark. The colors were a little brighter but still provided an intimate feel to it. Simple tables and chairs still gave it an upscale feel. Succulents were on the tables for a natural element. It was a bit crowded on a Saturday night but we were seated right away. We ordered firecracker shrimp for appetizer with a sweet chili sauce. It was ok with a small piece of shrimp fried inside a cracker. I ordered the beef pad see u which was good except the beef was a tad overcooked but I was hungry so I ate everything ! My husband had the chicken and beef red curry which he always raves about and it didn't disappoint. Service is always good here so we plan on coming back again. read more

I came across Sea Thai recently in Orlando and it hit the spot! It's been a long time since I have delicious Thai food and it didn't disappoint! On Friday through Monday, the chef's special menu is offered. I ended up ordering most of the chef specials and it is an opportunity for the chef to be creative. 1) Crispy Pork Belly with fish sauce caramel 2) Eggplant with eggplant relish 3) Soft Shell Crab 4) Woosen Phad Thai with river prawn 5) Steamed Salmon with tepo curry The soft shell crab and woosen pad thai were some of the best I've ever had. The sauce the crab was tossed in is so flavorful that I could inhale that dish within seconds. The pad thai was made with thinner noodles than your ordinary pad thai and there was a perfect amount of spices mixed together. A special shout out to chef for cooking the salmon to PERFECTION like no other. I'd recommend this place 10/10 read more

Incredibly authentic Thai food. My son spent time in Thailand so he's a pretty good judge of Thai food. I would order the dish "mild", even though we like it a bit hotter, unless you've experienced authentic Thai cuisine on a regular basis "hot" is nothing like American hot (from my perspective). Although I have to rate my "take out" experience a 3, I suspect it will be much higher when they finally allow onsite dining as some dishes were impressive. It may be an instance of what dishes you choose or the busy kitchen missing details. The Pineapple Duck Curry was amazingly tender and flavorful with just a touch of sweetness. The Smokey Pot and Thai Lemongrass Soup both delivered strong flavors and spice and are recommended. The Spicy Basil Stir Fry with Shrimp was also enjoyed. However, there were some issues on other dishes. The menu says the Garlic Chili Salmon is served in a spicy & savory sauce, but it was served in a vinaigrette that was not enjoyed. The glass noodles were missing from the Smokey Pot which only has shrimp no chicken, which was probably confusion with other orders. Papaya was missing from the Green Papaya Salad. Unfortunately, the heat and steam from the other dishes melted the Summer Roll rice papers together. Uniquely, they still (6-5-21) have not opened the restaurant to diners, but I recommend you wait until then to experience this very good cuisine the right way. It was just this year the I learned Sea Thai was NOT a seafood restaurant and finally gave it a try. They have a great lunch special that includes an appetizer and entree. I always get the Tom Yum soup and it is soooooo good. Not too spicy. I'm a big fan of chili jam and their triple flavor and I keep seeing other things that I want to try so I'll be back for more. Sea Thai is the best Thai food I have had in the Orlando area. I visit Orlando several times per year for over 15 years. Start at Sea Thai each trip, then venture to other Thai restaurants while there in an attempt to find a better spot for Thai Basil (pad kra pao). I have yet to find a better place in Orlando. Most recent trip, Sea Thai won out again. Other 4 spots were not nearly as good, one was super oily, other three seemed to be venturing from the standard ingredients adding zucchini or bamboo shoots. Additionally peppers and onions for Sea Thai's Thai Basil were cooked to to perfection with regards to texture which is usually not always the case at many spots. read more

Sea thai is good..but I feel it's too Americanized and overpriced. Their losing the Thai flavor and Thai feel of the restaurant...so much that they are losing it in their food as well. The portions are getting smaller and smaller every time I go here. If you go down the street, I think Thai House is cheaper/larger portions and tastes way better. read more

It's my last night in Orlando and it seems as if all the Thanksgiving binging has got my appetite in overdrive! So why not head back to Colonial Drive for dinner since I've already eaten there twice? But tonight I'm in the mood for Thai so it's off to Sea Thai and its 4 1/2 star rating... I call in an order for two of my faves: basil summer rolls and pad kee mao, aka "drunken noodles". A quick ride down the street and I pop inside the place. Looks busy which is a great sign. The lady in front is super nice and asks me if this is my first visit. An affirmative nod and she says, if there's any thing you don't like, come back and we'll return your money. Whoa, now that's confidence in your food! Back in the hotel room I bust out the food and it looks pretty good, the three small basil rolls come with a large side of peanut sauce. Tasty but the sauce could have used a bit more punch and flava. And now I hit a hurdle, I forgot to ask the nice lady for some cutlery and I've got NOTHING in the hotel room. And damn, the drunken noodles smell pretty good so I improvise... Hopefully the first and last time I eat pad kee mao with my, ahem, hands! The noodles were cooked just right, firm and there was plenty of chicken and spice for this dish. And we're talking a really large portion for the price, I couldn't finish it all. So yeah, Sea Thai does a great job serving up large portions of fresh and spicy food! The people that run the place are SUPER-nice which is a side bonus. I'm sure if I lived in the hood I'd be here regularly so you locals enjoy it for what it is: lots of great Thai food for not a lot of money. We have eaten from sea Thai for years. This time when ordering from Uber my whole order was wrong! We ordered 4 dishes. 2 Thai hot and 2 medium. All 4 were Thai hot and half of us could not eat. The red curry that was Thai hot was supposed to not have egg plant and peppers however it still had peppers. 3 out of the 4 dishes were wrong. When I called to let them know the guy insisted on telling me that he saw them personally put the spice in my yellow curry and it was medium. Umm no sir eating here for many years I know what your medium tastes like. He offered no solutions to our problem and basically offered ZERO help. Thai House now called Thai smile made this GREAT praram dish with prawns and OMG it was so delicious. Anyway back to Sea Thai..I also ordered Basil noodles. It was ok as well. It was lacking of sauce imo. The ambience is nice and LOL @ the ornaments comment because it's true..I had to double check whether those were actually xmas ornament balls..lol.
