As a current tenet, I appreciate that Nicholas in the office is personable, available and easy to talk to. He has helped with several issues in the last few years and I like the consistency. The place isn't what it was. Very disappointing after staying here 7 years. Didn't repair some outside damge for more than 2 years. Promised a fully renovated condo only to receive one with new floors but the old fixtures, appliances and ceiling with doors that had 1 inch openings at the bottom. Developed a mold issue in the closet that cost us hundreds in damaged clothes and shoes only to be told that's what happens when you live by the ocean. LOL the ocean is a mile away. Refused to respond to emails requesting information on rental increase that was close to the maximum allowable. Then after stopping in to discuss the issue received attitude and they billed us for 2 days of the 30 day notice because February only has 28 days. We wouldn't recommend here unless you have no choice. read more

Now that they've painted pickball lines on the one tennis court, it's rendered the tennis court unusable for tennis players. If picklers show up to play, when you are on the court, you can only play tennis for 45 minutes. Have you ever heard of a doubles tennis session time limit of 45 minutes? It's ridiculous. ALSO, they sold the majority of the guest spots so it's very difficult to have any guests visit. We don't have a lot of guests, but sometimes we'd like to invite two other couples over for dinner maybe once a month. Their suggestion is to for us to buy one of the open spots when one comes available for those occasional circumstances so they can make even more money from us. And now we can no longer use propane bbq's on our balconies. This one issue is not their fault but all this happened after our decision to move here. It's definitely affected our ability to enjoy our condo. read more

The buildings were constructed in the 1970's, no new windows and outdated, bug-infested infrastructure. Without those trees, it is significantly hotter in this community than it was previously. When you add in the people who are vaping and smoking, this is not the place to live. Don't even consider it if you kids! Carlsbad banned this behavior, but the management company doesn't enforce and people get nasty when asked to stop! Don't move here! My husband and I recently moved to Seagate. Nick went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional, he is a true professional and is excellent at his job. I had so many questions and Nick thoughtfully answered them all. He sent me video walkthroughs, dimensions, pictures of the views, etc all to make sure we were happy and confident with our decision to make Seagate our home. The longer I live here the worse this place gets. I've been dealing with a horrible sewage stench in my kitchen sink, which has resulted in monthly maintenance "repairs" which done help at all. They don't care about the long term tenants and it appears as though they're actually trying to get everyone to move out so they can upgrade the units and charge more. This is resulting in constant construction work. The contractors park their cars in my parking space, block the garages and throw trash, including nails on the floor. They are currently working on 2 units next door to me and one across the street from me. I know they're trying to upgrade the place, but it's a horrible inconvenience to the tenants. They also turned the few guest parking spaces into rentable spaces, so people are constantly parking in my space because they can't find anywhere to park. read more

There is unexplained charges and zero privacy in fact you will be charged an addition if you want to put up any kind of privacy shield. They lie and deceive once you sign your stuck! I toured the community recently as a potential new tenant, and was very impressed with the property and the staff - so I thought a positive review was in order! We have been looking at properties for weeks now, so I appreciated how quick and easy Alex made it for me to tour the model the day I visited. She was friendly, efficient and professional, which I really appreciated, since I rolled into the parking lot sort of on a whim between work clients one day (short on time - DUMB). The property is gorgeous - beautifully landscaped, clean and lush. There was a nice sea breeze when I was there - let me tell you, I was ready to move in! The model was gorgeous of course - I wanted to call in sick to work and lock myself in that condo and never come out! Now just to wait for the right model to open up... read more

I am actually sad to write this review since we have lived here for almost a year and have pretty much loved everything and everyone, esp the maintenance team! BUT, we just got our lease renewal and they are increasing our rent by nearly 10%. I've heard so many people complain about this and honestly I didn't believe they would do such a thing, esp during these difficult times and a recession on the horizon. Quite a "family" environment, huh?! If you want to switch to month to month, it's an extra $250/mth, too?!? Insane! We were looking forward to staying here for years and now we are thinking about where to go next since they probably raise your rent 10% EVERY year and after a few years, who can afford that?? I don't think they care about having long term tenants at all since we are apparently just a number... I cannot express how disappointed we are in this gouging and it has left such a bad taste in our mouth that we probably won't stay much longer. I'm not even sure it's legal either. We will be checking into that, for sure! I really don't think I could recommend this complex to anyone and feel good about it. I feel terrible because we did actually recommend this place to some good friends and they are moving in this month. I'm sure they will be getting this 10% increase next year and will be as furious as everyone else. I wish I hadn't recommended it to them now :( read more

It's been six months now, and I am very pleased with my experience here. Though on the small size for nation-wide standards, 1100sf for a 2-bedroom is pretty good for this area, in this price range. The ocean views all over the property as well in my unit are fabulous. It's like Christmas every day, waking up to see the beautiful blue ocean. May Gray & June Gloom are the clever names to describe weather in Spring, so I then head for the Mid-Atlantic. Anyway, the rest of the year is fabulous, mild Winters at a resort-like community. Condos are rated higher in general because of their more durable construction. I hardly hear my neighbors at all, only if windows are open. The pool is one of the better ones I've seen, with real grass, trees, foliage, for a park-like setting. Two tennis courts, a top of the line grill, jacuzzi, kayak rentals, and tropical landscaping make this place a wonderful home. Parking is easy, relatively speaking. Views of Carlsbad Flower Fields and nearby canyons, as well as restaurants and services within walking distance. The ocean is less than a couple miles away. The traffic is Southern California here, so it's nice to have this quiet sanctuary to take refuge. Tranquil nights star gazing, fresh air from the ocean all the time, tone up in the year-round heated pool and decompress in the Jacuzzi; this place is really lovely. W/D in-unit is truly full size; it's enormous. Dishwasher could be better but it's more than adequate. Living Room is smaller than I'd like as are the bedrooms, BUT having a balcony AND a patio AND a garage provides more outdoor living space, when all you have is 1100sf to call your own. Yes it's more expensive, but you save so much money not needing AC, not buying so much gas to get to the beaches, not having to travel to get to some place beautiful. Wonderful place to meditate and still be close to all the activities, classes, workshops, and local attractions. Mountains, valleys, biggest canyons this side of grand canyon, parks, animal reserves, lavender fields, etc. Management is solid and fair, despite a policy where you cannot switch units at will, even if you offer them money to move. Maintenance crew are all very nice, respectful, and willing to perform repairs to your satisfaction. Mail carriers are all nice. Neighbors are mostly nice. Instacart delivery of groceries and supplies is amazing. Yes, I love it here! read more

Absolutely terrible. The condos are poorly taken care of. Turnover us always high here. The amenities are decent but being charged $50 for a key is insane. They don't care about long term tenants and water is well over 150 every single month. My condo was left in deceptions condition, better than we received it and they still took my entire deposit and charged another 700 on top of it. I asked for maintenance to come several times and didn't or they'd show up without warning. I also asked for a walk through when departing and never received an email back from anyone. Another tenants car was stolen from this property and it took the entire complaining for them to send out a simple email. They towed my car and didn't reimburse me one my first week of moving in. I have lived here since 2019 and can say that not only are the views great but the staff has been really awesome. They have always replied within 24 hours or so for any maintenance concern I have had and carry a smile around the property and never miss a 'wave' or 'hello' Katarina, Carlos and the Maintenance team really have gone out of their way to make a positive impact on the community. This is a beautiful complex and the units are great but they are NOT wheelchair accessible as advertised. No ramp from street to sidewalk. Doorways not wide enough. Turns too narrow. Their own contractor said modifications not possible. Unfortunate and disappointing but common to see in any pre-ADA buildings. read more

RATS! There is a persistent rodent problem with this community. During the winter months I had rats in the walls and ceilings. Despite placing sticky traps in the crawl space no rats were caught but plenty of rat crap was left in traps. About a month ago I told management there were rats/mice droppings near front door. They said it would be taken care if and they would but down bait. Well, just saw another rat on my patio next to the slider. read more

I am enjoying the views...they are beyond amazing! I am in awe every time I open up the front door to the beautiful ocean view. And from our balcony, a different sunset every night! I have captured so many fantastic sunset pics. As far as the apartment itself, it does not have high end appliances, fixtures or furnishings. In the first couple months, we had oven, refrigerator and dryer maintenance requests. The first request took a couple of attempts but overall reasonable response time. We had a garage door opener go bad too. The towel racks are cheap and fall off the wall, etc. The tennis courts are nice and the dog park too. The location has been great- close to most everything! The staff is helpful. It is expensive to live here but it's a real treat! read more

We've lived here for 5 months in 2016 and, as most of the places, this one has its pros and cons. Overally, we were satisfied with the apartments and would recommend it as one of the best in Carlsbad. PROS: 1) great location, views, weather (even when it's really hot outside, there's an ocean breeze felt on the top of the hill) 2) good price/quality ratio 3) most of the leasing managers are great (Matt solved everything really fast) 4) most (all?) of the units are renovated, new appliances, new paint etc (and looks really great) CONS: 1) no heater 2) sometimes your issues are solved after 2-3-4 inquiries only (we've felt we were ignored by one of the leasing managers, others were ok) 3) insects (some pale ones in garages, rarely inside apartments, ants in gym zone) and you can't request pest-control to your apartments - all happens, probably, because of the canyon nearby 4) living near the pool will make you crazy - a lot of times people swim/speak loudly at 12am-1am 5) trash container zone is not so clean as expected, sometimes it's not emptied for a couple of days read more

We've lived here since November now and I can absolutely say this is an incredible place to live. EXTREMELY pet friendly. We have a gorgeous ocean view from almost every window in our unit. We also have a good view of the Flower Fields and we can't wait for that to bloom. SO close to Costco, the outlet mall, restaurants and a really nice, upscale Ralph's grocery store. We walk down to Seafire Grill for happy hour when the mood strikes. You could also walk to Islands, Tip Top Meats and Green Dragon Tavern. Don't have to pay for an Uber! It's a short drive to the Village too. My kitchen came with brand new appliances. Pretty flooring in the living spaces. Very quiet complex. Helpful management. Fun activities for the residents. It's better then we'd even hoped. We are planning to say for a few years as long as they don't raise our rent so much we can no longer afford it. People do seem to move in and out pretty quickly. We are excited about what summer time will have to offer. They even loan out kayaks and paddle boards to the residents! It's also incredibly close to the 5 freeway. All the thumbs up!! The only "bad" thing I can think of is the parking situation if you have more then two cars. The guest spots fill up quickly on the weekends. But all the pluses far outweigh that. read more

This place is a dump. Stay clear. This place is old and falling apart. Every week it seems like they are slapping a new bandaid over the old one. It seems like every week they are doing some project that makes no difference in making this place more up to date, all it does it create more and more noise for no reason. This place is out of date, over priced, and the property management here is a joke. I would look elsewhere before renting here. They have this new billing company they work with called conservatives which has increased our monthly utility bill by more then $50 a month. Everyone is complaining about this as well. They do noting too want to make you stay. Just want to raise your rent for no reason. read more

This is the best community that I've lived in so far. No matter what there is always going to be an angry or unhappy neighbor no mater what you do... but the girls in the office are always amazing. I'm sure they're blamed for things that aren't their fault on a regular basis but I've seen Katerina in the office handle confrontation very professionally and fair to all parties. Alisa is exceptional! I have truly never enjoyed an apartment rental experience as much as I did here. I wondered if once we finally moved in, the service wouldn't be as spectacular.. but I was completely wrong. It has been amazing so far. They are super responsive to every concern I've brought up, even sending out a repairman the same day or next day. When we moved in, the carpet on the stairs wasn't completely clean, so they had someone come in and clean it for us as soon as all our boxes were unpacked. All the ladies in the office are extremely helpful and responsive. I have had nothing but amazing service here! Alisa deserves a raise!! Thank you Seagate!! read more

Scheduled a tour to view a 2 bedroom. Very responsive and attentive from that first communication. When I showed up at the allotted time, I was greeted by Alex. She was very helpful and informative. It was clear she had prepared for our appointment and had all materials ready and available to explain the clear tour path, community amenities, and locations of the apartment homes. The community is gorgeous, with breezy ocean views, wood flooring, patios, and lots of closet space. Absolutely the best choice I could have made. I lived at Seagate for 3 years and only moved because of my job. Seagate is a beautiful property that I always felt calm and at peace while living there. The grounds are very well kept and the amenities are fantastic. Great access to freeway, shopping, and the ocean! Seagate has the best balance of value, amenities, and most importantly the staff truly understands customers service. From day one I always felt a part of a community...I never felt that I was just a "renter". The leasing office staff, Kelly, Kelly, and Wes always made me feel like I was a part of a family. I enjoyed many of the amenities...free tennis lessons, pool, gym, business office and the occasional cup of coffee and fresh baked cookies. If I ever move back to Carlsbad I would choose Seagate. I appreciate the fact that i can place an online service request and typically get full service with in 24 hours!! The complex it self is immaculate. Our family enjoys the pool and appreciate that it is clean and maintained. If you ever want the connivence of renting and not the hassle of a private owner this is the place!! We had to relocate quickly and we were so lucky !!!! Seagate is a jewel. Our condo overlooks a green canyon - peaceful and quiet. Just beyond our balcony is a red tail hawks' nest w/ a couple tending to their 3 new born. For a city girl, this wild life is huge. But it doesn't stop there. From our driveway, we view the Pacific horizon. Just imagine the daily sunsets; no two alike. Then there's the outstanding maintenance team always present for our needs. And the resort visual pleasure is poolside; it's been beautifully planed and presented to include a BBQ. All this is managed by a responsible, smartly trained office trio. H.G. Fenton Properties is one of the most successful, responsible, environmentally concerned land owners in San Diego...We have lived here 3 years and plan on staying several more. read more

We lived in Seagate for 5 years. The first couple of years the management was great. In the last 3 years our experience with management was disappointing. There was a leak from the upstairs unit and we had to move out for almost a week. My mother in law was visiting from out of country and I let management know she wouldn't feel comfortable staying in hotel with us. They said ok we will give you access to the condo while it's been repaired. We arrived late that evening and the locks were changed without letting us know. We had to get my mother in a hotel. They obviously had to reimburse us but it was obvious that the manager seemed inconvenienced even though this was an issue they created. Beware of mold! We had several shoes, belts, hats and clothes damaged from mold in the closet. There was also mold in the bathroom. When I brought this to the attention of manager and during annual walk through. They said well you have to leave the sliding door open and we are not responsible for replacing your person items. Renter Beware! read more

I stayed in a 2 bedroom apt at Seagate on a six month lease, left the place spotless and they initially charged me 554.00 in paint, cleaning etc. These move out charges were outrageous and after complaining they split the painting charges, which didn't need painting at all, and sent me back $28.84 out of a 500 deposit for a six month stay! Can't recommend this place after that experience! read more

Beware: not as safe as it looks! As a resident here for 5 years, it is safe to say that the quality of management has gradually gone downhill. The location is beautiful, yet when issues arise they are not taken care of. Mine and another's cars have been broken into within the last month, and after speaking with neighbors I've learned garages have recently been targeted. When speaking with resident manager Kyle, he showed little compassion or interest in amping up security even after robberies. Ashame a beautiful place does not care about its residents.
