First time here - Sunday morning. Appetizer was Fried Green Tomatoes with ridiculously large lump crab pieces on top with drizzle of remoulade sauce. Reuben on thick marbled rye must have had 1/2 lb corned beef. Sweet potato fries are well seasoned. I had the Bangers and Mash - easily the best sausage I've had since visiting Germany in 1993. The gravy is made with a dark nut ale - unbelievably good.. Guinness pints were perfect temp. Pub is dark with hand hewn wood planks on floor and walls. Super find on a lazy drive through Bel Air looking for brunch - no breakfast fare, but the food was excellent and service nice. read more

Love it! I always go for the specials first before the menu because I have had almost everything on the menu lol. The beer selection is what an Irish pub should be. Lots of Irish beer varieties. Great Atmosphere! We dined upstairs which offered a pub experience for the adults in our group yet was still appropriate for the kiddos we had with us (we were there on a Sunday evening). Tremendous Food! The Fish & Chips were authentic and spot on. Fresh Cod hand battered to perfection- the real deal! The crab & avocado appetizer special our friend had contained some of the largest lumps of blue crabmeat I've ever seen. Impeccable Service! The food here is delicious! Wings, paddy melt, sweet potato fries, chicken pot pie, the trout special- Everything our table ordered was amazing! Very cool evening atmosphere. Great for a date night. Not sure why all the high reviews on this place. Especially when there are so many other great options on this street. Anyway I stopped in with my adult daughter for a quick bite on a Thursday evening. This place has more of a saloon feel to it. Sticky and old floors. Not sure if it was because of a Thursday but the patrons were much older (60-70), and surprisingly loud and obnoxious. We ordered the cheeseburger with the house chips at the recommendation of the waiter. Not impressed at all. I'm not much for chain restaurant food but Red Robbin burgers are way better. There are bars in Bel Air with better food and drink specials, but none that combine quality product, excellent service and a community feel the way Sean Bolan's does. Beer selection is excellent, and taps are always rotating, which is something that beer lovers look for and appreciate. The food never disappoints (my favorite is the fried green tomato app...maybe the best app I've ever had in my life anywhere), and the daily food specials are creative and offer something for all palates. One of my favorite things about this establishment is the service you get from the bartenders, servers and the owners themselves! They're attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely make every effort to make sure you enjoy your experience. They're also great at remembering names, which makes guests feel welcomed and comfortable. We had the crab dip and fish and chips. The crab dip was wonderfully seasoned and beautifully presented in a bread bowl. The fish had a perfectly light crispy breading. Our server, Erica, was attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. She listened to our drink preferences and made excellent recommendations on beer and wine. I hate to leave bad reviews but hopefully this will help others. First, the waitress was very nice and helpful. Decor is great in typical Irish Pub fashion. The bad? The wife and I had just come from a funeral and ordered a burger Nd a dish with fried green tomatoes & crab cakes. I had wanted the BLT and she recommended the fried green tomatoes dish with crab cakes. I asked the price and she said $14 (turned out it was $18, double of what my BLT would have been). The fried green tomatoe was burnt to a crisp. It was disgusting. I ate a few bites and offered to my wife and she hated it too. Plus, the crab cake seemed ok but you wouldn't know Bc it was smothered with nasty cheese. Just one of the worst food items I have ordered in a while. My wife ordered a burger. The meat wasn't fully cooked and it was on a pita bread (which clearly wasn't listed on the menu). Just a really really awful food experience. I had been there before for a Super Bowl Party but didn't eat. I think that's the key, just stick to drinks or fried foods. read more

Not bad, but I don't see it being worth the 4+ star rating it has. The servers were ok, nothing special and the prices are good. Also the food seems better than your traditional bar food. Many fresh made looking options, vs frozen and fried. That said the execution was just so so and the flavor was just eh. Nothing that jumped out at me. Maybe this is a great bar, not much of a drinker so that could account for the extra stars. All in all though a solid three stars read more

Usually very happy with Irish Pubs. However, this was an exception. We came on a Monday evening, hardly a busy time. In short, our waitress seemed upset to tell us about thier beer selection (which was good). Then took 45 minutes before we could order dinner. The Reuben sandwich is good. She kept disappearing throughout our stay. What I'm assuming was the manager came to tell us they were out of a particular beer we ordered. At first seemed courteous, but then concluded my beer delivery with " hopefully there's nothing wrong with THIS beer, after I mentioned I didn't like a particular tap they had. Attitudes in customer service are never needed. My party of 7 really tried to overcome with kindness after the beer mix up, but were still left in a corner with an empty beer glass. read more

I've always been happy with my visit to Sean Bolans. I think it's because I always get a shivering nervousness whenever I am in Bel Air and have to deal with all that is (and is most certainly not) Bel Air. But that's another story all together. Sean Bolans has always felt like a respite, like I'm literally shaking off the cold when I come inside. If I can get a seat at the bar I'm a happy camper. Their food has always been consistent and their taps are pretty good for the area. I can agree on how they don't quite live up to the expectation that I wish they would. They don't have the fake-ass Irish feel. They do Irish right. But they could use more education on their beers and this is where the line is drawn between restaurant workers and proper bar tenders. An Irish bar needs a proper bar tender first and foremost. But I thank you for having a traditional cider on tap and not that over sweetened American candy either. read more

First time there despite living only 5 minutes away. We skipped through the bar area and headed upstairs to the more restaurant area. It has a nice, casual pub feel to it. Staff was prompt and welcoming and we were quickly seated. Wife and I tried the Shepherd's pie, crab dip and the beer battered fish and chips. The portions were very ample (we took half of it home). Everything was delicious. An acoustic guitarist/singer arrived around 11pm and, for us parents that don't get frequent escapes, the music was just the right tone and volume to complement the atmosphere. read more

The menu at Sean Bolan's simply does not differ much from MaGerks and Looneys. I'm surprised there's no corned beef and cabbage entree, or boxties. This is one of my favorite restaurant in Harford County. I have been here about 4 times for food and have had a good experience every time. The Rubin is great, the shepherds by is excellent, and the stuffed cabbage dish is incredible. I was never a big fan on Irish food, but this made me think twice. read more
