I received a call back Monday at 8 a.m. Rick came out Wednesday on time at 8 a.m. I had received a text the night before confirming the appointment, and a text that morning that the tech was on his way. I like that! Rick diagnosed the problem, he ordered the parts, and I paid the service fee by check. Following the same procedure, he and Mike arrived at 8 a.m. the next Monday and installed the parts. Then they checked the circuit board. Nothing. Rick gave me a price for the board, including the parts he had just installed. I decided for that cost I could buy a new washer. The techs were very kind, agreeing, and charged me only for the service, which I'd already paid. They did remove the new parts to return. Note to self: If the washer is so off balanced that it "walks" several inches, get it checked out now. That rattling/walking can loosen other parts.

A little context: Originally Sears was out (yes, they still exist). Having repaired a few refrigerators, garage doors and operator control boards myself over the years, I knew things weren't right with these Sears guys (yes, plural -- well, one in training, poor sod). They weren't dishonest, really, just excessive. Especially with cost (...pretty obviously constrained by dinosaur policy -- what felt geared towards getting a fleeced customer to buy a new appliance from Sears). The Sears guys estimated a four-figure two-man project, including for two off-the-shelf generic machine screws, $37 each, parts only. (Still had to pay them for coming out.) Bless their little hearts. I can see how people get bamboozed by this blue-shirted Sears "professionalism". Hearing good things, I contacted Daniil. And in a little more than a day, paid an eighth of the price for way more, better, no-nonsense, good natured, in-and-out service. With warranty. They watch you do all the heavy lifting and then ask if you need help. It's a pathetic store which is dirty,unorganized, and obviously poorly run with a plethora of obstacles in the aisles.
