Calamari
Annie R.

We found this cozy little restaurant while visiting San Pedro last Friday. We wanted fish and this place ended up being perfect. We spent a while here, just enjoying the ambiance. We sat outdoors, and even though it was a hot day, a little breeze was coming up through South Shores. The bread that came with our pasta dishes was so good. The shrimp scampi I highly recommend the shrimp scampi, but beware it is enough for two people to share. The portions are very generous here from the 8 ounce wine pour to our appetizer of fried calamari - all was so generous and tasty. Our waitress Emily was very patient and kind courteous and professional.

This restaurant is located in the corner of a Vons strip mall. Not too crowded for brunch during the week. There's seating outdoors on the sidewalk. I sat indoors, in a booth. The place is not that large inside, and you do forget you're in a strip mall. Not much ambiance though. I ordered the fresh fruit waffle and coffee. The waffle came with fresh bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. The waffle was a little chewy. No non dairy creamer available for coffee. Service was efficient.

Service was a wee bit slow, I believe if there is children at the table they should be served first. Our server served our drinks then my kids something with the food served our plates then the kids last. As far as the food goes the steak was super chewy and tough not even enjoyable. French toast was alright super sweet with sweet cream drizzle powered sugar just a little too much for breakfast. Maybe if you're just planning to get a basic eggs, bacon and potatoes go here.

Mini family reunion with wonderful food and service!

The Seared Scallop dish was delicious, and as an appetizer I had the French Onion Soup!!! The service was amazing and the chefs prepared everything quickly!! Great spot to have our mini family reunion!

Came here with my family. We were a group of 12 with my aunts and cousins... The food was good overall. Everyone seemed happy with what they ordered. The appetizers were great. We had raw oysters, Rockefeller oysters and calamari. Some of the main course items were slightly salty. Oddly, the kitchen felt the need to draw Seaside on each plate. We did not really like the desserts. Desserts didn't really taste all that good. Our server was excellent. Overall we had a good time.

Love this place! Great service, food, atmosphere, everything. I had the french onion soup and french dip sandwich, it was really good. The soup had lots of cheese on it and the sandwich was perfect and very filling. I definitely plan on coming back!

Very good cheese burger.

My sisters and I went there as I was craving a burger. My sisters recommended this place. We all ordered the burger during happy hour and got 40% off. The burgers were big, cheesy and juicy. The accompanying fries were very good. I would definitely go back.

Seafood Linguini- a great way to have a little bit of everything yummy! The shrimp were ginormous!

A quaint romantic spot with family vibes. Our server Melanie was friendly and knowledgeable she quickly explained the wine list and helped us identify a white wine we liked, an obvious pro! Delicious fresh bread when we sat down, we had the grilled artichoke, seafood linguini and cioppino. Food was outstanding and the linguini was a large enough portion that I had plenty of leftovers! First time there and we will be back to try the lunch menu! Thanks to the staff for making us feel very welcome.

COWABuNGA! We definitely found the hidden treasure in this seaside community! Seaside Bistro is truly a beach city eatery with a touch of class! When you first enter, there is an enclosed outside sitting area just in case your furbabies are joining you. The atmosphere is a casual beachy boutique vibe. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a team member. Brian was the one that greeted us right away. A peek to the right shows a quaint lil bar with a variety of wines and adult sodas. The restaurant is very intimate and on the smaller side. The owners did a great job with placement, because it did not feel crowded at all! Patrons were constantly coming in and out. Our service professional was Carolina. She has such a great personality! She was very professional until I opened my mouth... After that, she matched my dorky vibe! We picked her brain for items to order. We didn't want to order items that we cook at home! We ordered the following; Medium rare steak sandwich on a roll smothered with mushrooms and garlic butter with a salad. This was 5 stars! Completely mouthwatering! The steak was well marinated and tender. It paired perfectly with the sauteed mushrooms in the soft warm roll. Chicken fried steak with crunchy hash browns, scrambled eggs with cheese and a well toasted English muffin. 5 stars again!!! The chicken fried steak was well seasoned and solid. It definitely was made with more meat than fillers (unlike other restaurants). The gravy tasted like actual country gravy and not salt. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and fully cooked. The eggs were made with beaters, so they were okay tasting but cooked right! The English muffins were buttered and grilled. So good! The mango mimosa was given a 4 by hubby. He said it needed more mango and needed to be chilled a bit more. The coffee? Definitely fresh and tasted like smooth coffee. Not one hint of bitterness and it wasn't watered down. As always, the icing on the cake is the service level and hilarious interaction with Carolina! Definitely a must for us to come back!

Totally yummy happy Sunday

This has become go to place for French onion soup and French dip sandwich. The combination together cannot be beat. Also tried the barbecue chicken salad and clam chowder is also awesome. Great service nice happy hour and it's a nice small restaurant. Parking can be a little tight sometimes but worth it Nice patio dog friendly patio be heated

Bone-in French Ribeye, very good

Had a bomb brunch here of steak and French toast. They were kind enough to let me order the steak even though it was still breakfast time. It was cooked perfectly and my son and I absolutely devoured it. The French toast was rich and delicious with lots of syrup. I'll def be coming back here!

Wife and I visited on Friday at around 1 ish and these are a few new things we found: 1) Parking is a $20 flat rate, credit card only accepted. The lot seemed small compared to the old location. 2) There's no fish market, there's 1 window where you order your food and drinks off a menu and it gets delivered to your table. Before you order though, get a table and check the number on it 'cause they'll ask you for it once you place your order. 3) Bathrooms are bigger and cleaner lol 4) Right next to the boardwalk, real nice to watch cruise ships and naval boats passing by. Food was still delicious, a little pricey but if you are a Costco member, I recommend you get the InKind gift cards, they take them and that's a huge saver. Staff was real nice and helpful, we had fun chatting with Rosa, whose been working for the market for over 20 years, real cool lady. We are already planning a trip back, this time though with our whole fam and looking forward to see Rosa again.

I was bummed but dang.... It was DELICIOUS. It's super juicy and flavorful. We also got Brussel sprouts, fried string beans and clam chowder. The Brussels are similar to expensive restaurant quality with a little balsamic vinaigrette and parm, but a really reasonable price. Crispy leaves, a little sweet a little oily but mmmm they were amazing. The clam chowder is perfectly creamy but not too thick. Needs a little salt but otherwise it's up there as one of my favorites. The string beans were just fine but I'd skip them. There had like a fried zucchini batter, well coated and crispy but eh not for me. My partner got the fried shrimp and fish and chips and they loved it. They couldn't get enough of the shrimp. The batter was really light but crispy. Nothing soggy or heavy. The fries are skinny but kinda battered, good. Everyone here is super nice and helpful and felt bad they were out of the fish but obvy not their fault. The beer was cold and the AC hit the spot on a hot day. We'll definitely be back.

We also tried the garlic bread because so many reviews hyped it up, but honestly... it was just okay. Not bad at all, but probably the one thing I'd skip next time. The biggest surprise for me was the fish and chips because I normally don't even like fish and chips. This version was lightly breaded so you actually got flaky, flavorful fish instead of a mouthful of batter. Perfectly fried and genuinely so good. We also ordered the arugula salad which was fresh and paired well with everything else. Overall, such a great experience from start to finish. 22nd Street Landing has a 3.5-star rating on Yelp, and after dining here, I'd say that's about…read moreright. The biggest draw here is undoubtedly the view. It's beautiful and easily the restaurant's strongest feature. Unfortunately, once you take away the waterfront scenery, you're left with a fairly average restaurant that feels like it's in need of some updating and renovation. Before my entrée arrived, I started with a cup of clam chowder. It came out hot, which was nice, but it was surprisingly light on actual clams. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. For my main course, I ordered the swordfish. It was good, but not outstanding. In fact, that pretty much sums up the entire meal. I was part of a large group, and we ordered a wide variety of dishes across the menu. Nobody complained about their food, but nobody was blown away by it either. The general reaction around the table was, "Yeah, it's pretty good." You can usually tell when people are genuinely impressed by a meal, and that just wasn't the case here. To be clear, the food isn't bad at all. You're not going to leave feeling disappointed, and it's certainly better than your average chain seafood restaurant. The issue is that nothing we ordered felt exceptional or memorable enough to justify the premium pricing. The service was another area where the restaurant fell short. The staff wasn't rude, but they weren't particularly attentive either. If you needed something, you generally had to flag someone down. There were several times when my water glass sat empty while our server was nearby, yet he never seemed to look over at our table. One thing that stood out was the bread service. Bread is available, but unless you specifically ask for it, don't expect anyone to offer it. A simple question like, "Would you like some bread for the table?" never came. It's a small detail, but at a restaurant in this price range, those details matter. The restaurant itself appeared clean, and the restrooms were decent. However, I'm grading this place against the expectations that come with Yelp's $$$ price designation. When a restaurant falls into Yelp's higher-priced category, diners naturally expect the food, service, and overall experience to be noticeably above average. That's why little issues become more noticeable. Even my water glass had a slight odor to it, and I had to ask for a replacement. Mistakes happen, but when you're paying premium prices, those things stand out more. In the end, the view does a lot of the heavy lifting. If this restaurant were located somewhere without the harbor scenery, I don't think it would stand out much from the many other decent seafood restaurants in the area. The food is good, the service is adequate, and the setting is beautiful. But for a restaurant carrying a $$$ price tag on Yelp, I expected more. For me, 3 out of 5 stars feels like a fair rating.

There were a few things that really stood out and made me very happy that I gave it a try. First, the red sauce in the salsa bar: very legit! Spicy, but very flavorful! I also tried the green chili/tomatillo sauce, which was also very good and good counter point to the unctuous marinated chicken. And they don't go cheap on the meat. Secondly, the corn tortillas were made in house and were hefty! Very tasty and held together where other tacos need two of the thin store-bought variety to have a hope to stand together. Very good. If I had the tiniest critique, I would say to add a tiny bit more salt to them, but I have a theory why they may go scant on it, and I respect that. Third, the beans and rice: The beans were very simple, but simply good. It takes a lot of guts to make and serve simple pinto beans boiled with salt. I know! What a concept! But simply delicious, and made to complement the rest of the food, and not distract from it. It takes a lot of confidence in my opinion for a restaurant to have such faith in their food to leave some that should be simple, simple. The same was true for the rice: simply well made, not over done with a ton of ingredients. It was well made: the individual grains didn't stick together. And it was unctuous without being overbearing. If I had to guess, I would say that they used broth and chicken fat. Simply good, and a complement to rest of the meal. Now to my theory. It makes sense that the masa would be light on the salt because it is the same masa that they use for pupusas, and the filling for pupusas (I just like that word) is savory and well seasoned. I'll let you now next time I got back and try the PUPUSAS! ;)
