I was in the market for a side by side refrige due to the configuration of my kitchen so I looked at some new units and really did not feel like spending $1200+ on a damn refrige. So it was Craigslist to the rescue - enter Better Affordable appliance. Tah Dahh! Now anyone that reads my reviews knows I am very honest and I call it like I see it so listen up peeps! I called and spoke with Tony about my requirements (size and wants). Any who, they had several that I could have used in the 299 - 350 range, but I really did not like dings and scratches. Yes he sent me several pics of potential units that in the pics looked clean but it is the in person inspection that shows the "used" condition of these units. So yea, long story short I jumped in the car and went down to take a look at the goods in person. first impression is It's not the store of the future my any means BUT they had lots of stuff in there, washers, dryers, friges and so on. Some great, some not so great. One has to be EDUCATED BEFORE going into see their products. Fortunately, we had the old smart phone and internet to see exactly what we would be buying. Tony showed us several units that fit our specs but again one thing or another did not suit our fancy. We ended going for a $500 (OK 499.00 lol) Kenmore Elite Stainless with all the trimmings. It was purdy and has no visible dings. One shelf was missing (I've since bought that from sears) but it was in great shape. Got this baby home and the refrig side was warm! Not having any experience with frig repair I said hellllll nah this is going back. So I called them and explained the issue and they said this is an easy fix and sent out the repair guy THAT DAY. He came late in the evening diagnosed the issue and ordered the part. Two days went by the part came in and bingo the fridge was working great! They stand behind their stuff for 30 days and they really do what they say. So I ordered a nice stainless and black gas stove and this baby works great and looks great. Overall, I am very happy with these guys. Again, KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING BEFORE YOU BUY. Check the year and model online for common issues so you will know what you are getting and spend the the bucks for the 30 day warranty it's worth it. Inventory is hit or miss so check often and you just may get a great frig and stove like me! read more

I decided to give these guys a chance a couple of months ago, even though the reviews were a little questionable. Boy can I just say that I'm glad that I did! I needed a washer and dryer for my new condo that my family and I just moved in to, and cost was a huge factor. I found Affordable Appliance on craigslist, they were the best prices I found, even less expensive than anything being sold privately. Not only that, their appliances aren't just used, they are completely refurbished. I called them up and was greeted very pleasantly, and explained to them my situation. They let me know they had a huge selection of inventory to look through, and invited me to come visit them in their Des Moines store (they have another one in Renton) and pick through their inventory myself. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised to find the huge selection that they promised, in all sorts of price ranges. We ended up being able to get better quality appliances than we had expected for our budget, and went with a mid-to-high end washer and dryer set, spending better than half of what we would have buying brand new, or even used on craigslist. Once we were set on the pair we liked, we squared up and scheduled delivery for the afternoon the next day for a reasonable delivery fee. They showed up on time, and even installed the washer/dryer set for us, which I wasn't expecting. The delivery driver was great, and was very polite. As of this moment our appliances are working fabulously, as good as anything brand new we could have purchased. But even if something does happen I know I'm covered by their 90 warranty which is very comforting! I would definitely invite anyone to give these guys a shot, you'll definitely be satisfied, and save some big bucks at the same time! read more

When I moved into my place a year ago I realized I didn't have a normal size refrigerator, but I couldn't find anything that would fit in the space cut out for a fridge. Then, one day, unexpectedly, the door came off of the fridge. Completely off. And, I needed a new fridge and fast. But, I couldn't find anything online that would fit the space, and I didn't want to spend $500 or more on a new fridge that was still too small, so I started thinking unconventionally and ended up on Craigslist. Affordable Appliances had a refrigerator listed with the perfect measurements for my space, so off I went to find it. When I got to the store a man quickly came up to assist me, providing me with a tape measure since I had forgotten mine at home. I found the perfect fridge for my space for only $225!, which was much lower than I expected. He said it could probably be delivered on Saturday. But, it was only Thursday. They asked me what exactly was wrong with my current refrigerator and when I explained the situation they said they would be out that night or the next morning! And, at 8:30 p.m. I received a call from Anthony , the man was great! When the refrigerator wouldn't fit through my kitchen door, he figured out a way to fit it. I am amazed by their service. Good service is hard to find in this day and age and you would never get this somewhere else. And, even if another store was willing to rush the delivery they would probably double the price for the inconvenience to them. I highly recommend Affordable Appliances to anyone who needs a great appliance but doesn't want to pay for the brand new price tag, and anyone who can appreciate fantastic service! read more

There is an awful amount of hate being posted here and I hate to say it but I think it is mostly based on the writers deep-seated bigotry, racism and bias. I had nothing but a 5-star experience. I went in and found a range and dryer I wanted on the floor with the price marked (both were $239.) As it turns out, the gentleman who helped us (he was very busy and working solo) was the owner. We inquired about delivery and they said that it was $109 for both (to my home area) and they would take our old ones away and install the new ones for that price. Taxes included it was $495. Our appointment was for two days later, they came, pulled our old ones and installed the new ones in maybe 20 minutes tops. I was amazed. I returned the net week to thank him as well as to get a new sales receipt because I had misplaced mine. He was less busy and we chatted for a while and he showed me photos of his home and garden in (I can't remember the country...but lots of tropical fruit trees) I think he sends money home to family. I was impressed how hard working he was to have built this business as an immigrant. And this is where all those negative reviews come from; our saddest, uneducated (and likely mostly white) citizens; people who do not see an immigrant family providing a valuable service to many of our poorest local people. People who are quick to hate because they had problems with his accent or wasn't providing the type of service and response they expected. We're all human here! The property manager for my rental left it up to me to locate a repair service and I found Affordable appliances Talked with Tony who I assume is the owner/technician called back within 5 minutes of the phone message that I left. He came out the very next day and within 10 minutes he disassembled the washer and diagnosed the problem which required ordering a special part. A week later Tony came out to install the new part and within a few minutes he was done. After he was gone I immediately started washing a load of clothes and noticed a strange noise. Nevertheless I proceeded and 30 minutes later I went to remove the clothes and stick them in the dryer and I noticed the washer was leaking more than before and the tub had not drained. What the heck? I immediately called Tony and arranged for him to come back out at 6pm that same day. Well to make the story short, Tony apparently had disconnected the pump during the initial diagnostic visit and didn't remember doing so. When he came to install the new part he forgot to reconnect the pump. Tony was able to get everything working again in short order. In the whole scope of things this was a minor inconvenience to have him come back a 3rd time but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He seemed like a nice man and boy does he work fast and efficient and returns calls promptly. He also removed his shoes before entering my place and I didn't even have to ask him :-). He gave me a good. I am happy my machine is working. read more

When I say amazing, I seriously mean it. I'm not the type to leave reviews but this definitely deserves one! I recently moved from Enumclaw to Seattle and was in dire need of a washer and dryer for my new home. I seriously could not find anything within my price range at Lowe's. I made a few phone calls to stores near me and even further out because I needed something immediately. I typically prefer the brand Whirlpool because it's compact and pretty suitable for a smaller house, wasn't looking for anything super fancy and I didn't mind the color of the appliance. I tried Craigslist and came across a few adds from Affordable Appliances so I called and spoke to the owner Tony who was super polite and got straight to it. I asked specifically for a Whirlpool washer and dryer set and he had them available at a very reasonable price ( thank God!). I made my way to the store and checked the set out, and it was perfect. Not only did I purchase my appliances but he delivered same day and installed them! Life saver, now I can wash my clothes and not have to travel to a laundromat to do so lol. read more

I called the Affordable Appliance on a Saturday morning due to the fact that my Kenmore washing machine would not drain or proceed to the rinse and final cycle. Over the phone the owner diagnosed the issue and provided a quote for the service. He then stated that his technician, would call me within 20 minutes to schedule the appointment time. I received a call back within 5 minutes and he was at my house within the next 20 minutes. He was polite, knowledgeable and the charge was even lower than the original quote. Also he noted if he needed a part that their warehouse (which was open on Saturday) was only 15 minutes away so it should be possible to fix the machine today. Fortunately he had the part on the truck so the extra trip to the warehouse wasn't necessary. Within an hour and a half in total my washing machine was repaired and back in business. Very impressive and especially for a weekend/Saturday!!! Great service and highly recommended! Tony your the best!! read more

If you're looking for good, honest opinions in appliance repair, well Affordable appliance is your guy! I really appreciated his advice over the phone! My mom called me telling me her clothes won't dry and the dryer would keep going and going and make her clothes hot but still damp. I called a couple places explaining the situation and to see how much it would cost to come out, all $30-40. When I called Affordable appliance and explained it to Tony he said he will save me some money because he doesn't need to come out. If the dryer was working then the air duct was clogged and all we had to do was clean it. He said trust me, you won't need to call me back and he was right!!! I am keeping his number bookmarked if any of my other appliances break down because now I know I have an honest person I can call who won't try to rip me off even chump change. Thanks soo much! As first time home buyers, whenever something goes wrong in the house my husband and I stare at each other dumbfounded thinking, "shit, what do we do?!" We had an "oh shit" moment when the fridge stopped working. Of course we didn't notice until the contents of our freezer defrosted all over our kitchen floor (let me tell you, I'm still trying to get the smell of defrosted meat out of our house). We did our best to clean, stuff things into coolers and poke around to figure out what was wrong... We soon gave up and the hubby called Affordable appliance when Tony answer he was really polite he had amazing humor and was really helpful.. Within an hour, someone came to help us out. My experience with Affordable Appliance has been great. 6 years ago I purchased a very nice stainless steel stove that would have cost me double the price anywhere else, and it still runs well to this day. The owner was friendly and the delivery was fast and efficient. Since then I have referred all my friends for numerous appliances and they have all been happy with their items. I just recently purchased a stainless steel refrigerator at another remarkable price. Once again, the delivery was fast, arranged the same day as purchased, and in and out within 20 minutes. Oh man, all I can say is DO NOT give these people your business. I run a business which heavily relies on doing laundry. I bought a washer and dryer from them and both have broken down 3 times in the first 2 month of having them. Not only that the owner is completely unprofessional, never takes any responsibility for the breakdowns and is totally unreliable. They took my payment and said they would be out to deliver the dryer that day... 2 days later I still did not have my dryer! Seattle used Appliance is great! My friend bought from them before and had been telling me about them for awhile. He stopped by the shop to see if they had available what I was looking for and was impressed with what he saw.
