I would absolutely recommend this facility to others. Maribeth and Jeff were both extremely helpful whenever I had any questions or concerns. They were even kind enough to let me into my unit one night when I arrived slightly after the gate hours. I've had storage units at other facilities in the area and would choose Security Public Storage over any of them. They are in the process of doing some slight remodeling and upgrading so there a few stacks of building supplies scattered about the complex but no big issue or concern. The managers are so friendly and very helpful! I love it here :) They always greet me with a smile, and I always get a reminder before my payment is due, it is so helpful since I have a busy schedule sometimes I forget, but they call me and let me know before so I always pay on time. I have used many storage facilities before, but this is by far the best storage facility I have ever used! The staff here is so friendly and professional! I feelthat my belongings are safe here, it's clean and the price is excellent. I haven't been into my storage in quite awhile, and there was a few spider webs, not a whole lot, which I was surprised, I mentioned it to them only to let them know that I was impressed by the fact there wasn't many spider webs, and right away they sent pest control to spray in there, they are AWESOME!!! I needed to store some stuff from them for about 7 months. Communication was great, employees were always helpful and friendly. I recently moved out and everything went very well. Moving out was simple and easy. I remember when I first rented from them, there was a lighting issue towards my section. I was wary about having to walk almost all the way down the dark hall before the lights would come on. I guess I've been watching too many horror movies. Well, the owner noticed it and the next time I came back it was fixed. If you're using a moving truck to remove your belongings from storage though, be careful because the driveway down to the storage is narrow. read more

I've been using Security Public Storage for several years. They've always been very nice and helpful. I called in to pay a year in advance which I have done several times before. They gave me a price, and I agreed. I looked at my card statement afterward and it was much higher than what I agreed to. I called in and they explained that sometime between when I called in and when they actually processed my payment my rent price increased. I asked them to honor the price they agreed to and they refused saying that I was still getting a "fair deal". Well, fair deal or not, if you give a price, you honor it. read more

I've used this storage facility for over 10 years & have never had a problem until they were purchased a few years back. The former manager, Jim, was wonderful. The current group managing the place is awful, they're so busy covering their shortcomings that they forget we are customers, not children in elementary. First off, Angela and Josh are great to work with. They are very personable, and the facility is well maintained and the two of them are very helpful and professional. My issue comes with a certain situation when an employee who was filling in for Angela and Josh that day refused to allow a family member of mine who was coming to get my items access to my storage unit, even when she had a key, my unit number, and I called to confirm both of our identities while she was standing right there in the office. We were just requesting the gate code number for her to gain access to my unit, and even after offering to scan said employee my drivers license, provide my SSN, and email him statements they send me monthly, he still said no. And this was not a "I'm so sorry for your inconvenience" kind of no. It was a "No, nope can't, sorry. Can't help you unless you are here with her showing me your ID". Word to the wise: use this facility, but be sure Angela and/or Josh are there if you have a question or need assistance. read more

I was looking for a storage place where I would be able to keep my stuff for a few months, I came across this one and I must say I've had nothing but excellent customer service from Angela and Josh. They both were very helpful and friendly. They helped me get the right size for me and they also ensured that I understood everything since I did tell them that this was the first time I had ever had to use a storage place. I've had my belongings here for a few months and I can honestly say that this place is very secure, it's always clean and their employees have amazing personalities. i can see why other people have rated this place highly. i've had some good times with the place. it is in fact a bit more human than the bigger storage locker companies (Public Storage, etc.) - but sometimes that's the problem. i've had a locker here for about a year. FULL DISCLOSURE, i have a hard time keeping track of my shit, so am often behind in paying them. NOT THEIR FAULT. but, it's way harder to catch up than it should be. for example: - two months ago, i went into the office to pay whatever i owed and the guy who runs the place (he's in the photos here on Yelp) wouldn't allow me to pay with a credit card. surprise, i didn't have (about) $250 in cash on me, so i had to drive to the bank (outside of which i got a parking ticket!!), get cash, and then drive back to SPS and pay them. wtf? it's probably some corporate policy, but it's stupid - if i don't need to get into my unit right then (which i didn't), what's keeping them from accepting payment and waiting for it to clear before i'm allowed back in? this doesn't happen with the larger storage companies. that day, i certainly paid more for the sake of going with a smaller company. - today, i went into the office for the same reason (the first time i'd paid since the last time! of course! sorry!) and the guy working (not the guy who runs it) accepted a credit card (hallelujah) BUT couldn't make the computers work well enough to know if the payment had gone through. i cranked up the old Bank of America app on my phone and, yes, the payment had gone through - but it took (i'm not embellishing this) TEN MORE MINUTES to have their computers catch up and to print a receipt. i want to be clear, i don't mean some vagary of the banking and credit card system kept them from knowing - it was that their computers would not work. the guy sat there apologizing, clicking the mouse quickly, rolling his chair over to the other computer, and apologizing again. do you think, perhaps, a larger company would buy some computers that work? or maybe retain the services of an IT professional or two to sort out what the fuck is going on if they stopped working? i... do. anyway, i really want to move my stuff out of here because of days like today. i think we're conditioned to interpret this sort of criticism of sort of mom 'n pop operations as personal attacks on the people who run them, but that's not what's happening here. the people who work here seem nice enough, and it's hard to imagine what kind of bullshit one deals with when one runs a storage facility in suburban California. that said, i'm not a customer because they seem nice - i want dependable service, i want to be able to get things done when i walk in. too often i can't at SPS Walnut Creek. read more

I have to admit, this was my first go around and I was a little skeptical of using a storage facility for some of my belongings. Therefore, I did a lot of research around the Bay area. This location was recommended, so I decided to visit it myself. From arrival to move-in and all the time in between, I was taken care of by Steve and Josh. Consistently friendly staff. An additional benefit is the on-site management. Only facility that I'm aware of that provides this type of security. Centrally located and at the time of my initial rental, (Jan '12), their rates were the most competitive. This rental facility is clean and well-maintained. The managers have always been nothing but helpful and personable to my daughter, who was the actual renter. When she needed me to help her by emptying her space since she had moved away, and she sent me the key but could not remember the entry code, I went into the office hoping they would allow me gate access with my daughter's approval. The managers were not in today, and I was told in no uncertain terms that it would not be possible. I had her unit #, the key in my possession, and she called in while I was standing there, but no dice. She offered to scan and email her driver's license, sign an authorization, forward a copy of the email invoice they sent her monthly to prove that it was her to authorize my entry....still not an ounce of cooperation from the employee of the day. He saw that I had a rental truck for which I had already paid, it made no difference....policy is policy. Even said that for all he knew, I could be conspiring to get into a unit to take things. Really?? My daughter could provide private info to verify her identity beyond a doubt, but there was to be no way to help mitigate a difficult situation. Very disappointing. read more

I looked around before choosing a storage facility and ended up at SP in Walnut Creek b/c they were so helpful and reasonable even over the phone--- Customer service and communications on billing were quick, professional and really friendly. I was a first timer and they took the time to tell me how everything worked. The only suggestion I would have for first time renters is to be sure to ask to see where your unit will be BEFORE committing. It is price dependent of course... but know that some units are harder to access than others. My unit worked out fine for the money. I had to use the elevator but the elevator worked well ---and again the office was really helpful both when I moved stuff in and out. It is a safe and well run facility. The place is hard to find from North Main since it is a way off the road so make sure you get good directions. It is not easily seen from the street. read more
