Both my husband and I were in the field for glasses full time. We both never wore glasses before. We went to another reputable glasses company and we were not happy then we decided to visit SEE in soho. We walked in and was greeted with the nicest smile I have seen in a long time with customer service. Latoya was assisting someone but she advised us to look around and that she would be with us next and she did exactly what she said. Her customer service is second to none. I had a credit with See so I went to the Soho showroom to look at frames. I saw a pair that I liked but they were $479. I told the salesperson that was too much for me and she said there was a 'special discount' as they were an older style and they were $250. Nothing was in writing and when I picked up the frames they had charged me $390. 87 for the frames. I would never have picked these if I had known that was what they were charging. Buyer Beware-Do Not Buy Lenses from See I have worn glasses for over 65 years. I personally have glasses with lenses that are perfect to see with and have NO fog or marks of any kind. These lenses are over 20-years old. I love the frames I have gotten at See and continue to have people compliment the frames. THE PROBLEM: after only 2-years the lenses I had gotten from See are unusable. And, the store told me that lenses Have a 2-year life. This is just not true. Either the coating or the special cleaning solution that See uses is causing the problem. read more

Good day, I am writing this on the basis of a single experience with SEE. I ordered prescription glasses, with UV coating and a small progressive lens. Within minutes of putting the glasses on, I noted the progressive feature was inconsistent yielding an uncomfortable sensation; it was not manufactured to optical standards. The lenses then demonstrated a high tendency for discrete scratches with mild cleansing using an appropriate cloth with approved cleansing spray. In short, Overpriced, poor quality. Too bad: service was very good and friendly. Strongly recommend going to another company. Thank-you. read more

This is my second order because I loved my first pair so much. I was looking for a great looking pair that was also within my budget. I am Asian and I have a wide face. I need glasses that fit my low nose bridge. The order was made with the understanding that the fit was incorrect but that nosepads would be placed to correct the fit. The reason I purchased the glasses was because of the offer and acceptance of that nosepads would be included in the price, and because they are essential for proper fit, I wouldn't have purchased them had I known I wouldn't be getting nosepads with the glasses. But then the pandemic hit-and prior to shutting down their shop they mailed out my glasses to me April 2020. Normally, you have an opportunity to discuss the situation when you pick it up, and ask for a refund if you're not satisfied. Because of the pandemic, they shipped it out and closed the store for SEVERAL MONTHS. With all the time elapsed, they told me no refunds. Had I known of the cost of nosepads, I would have picked a different pair. I am currently unable to wear the blue pair and I am left unsatisfied and hundreds of dollars wasted. When I put it on, it hurts my head side and slides down my face because I have a low nose bridge. I have astigmatism, so I start to felt nausea if I wore it too long, making it uncomfortable wear. So I put them down and never wore it again, waiting for when the store reopens to fix it. My first pair are size 54/19/140 and the new ones (blue) are 47/23/150, but they flex a bit. See images. After NYC phased re-open allow retail, I follow up on nosepads they tell me it'll cost an +$80 on top of my $300+ bill. The sales guy doesn't work there anymore and they can't ask him to verify and no notes left behind. I said: "I got the CORE collection which is the more affordable line. why wouldn't he mention the expense if he was planning to charge" Staff then tells me" "we have a separate facility and we charge everyone per the policy and have to send it out. That the sales guy was not the kind to not charge people." If that were the case why wouldn't he charge me before the glasses were ordered? Why wait till after you get the pair of glasses if it was already established that the pair doesn't fit right? I've literally only worn those new glasses once. I am left with the impression that what SEE Eyewear wants is your money and will tell you whatever you want to hear to close the sale, and don't care if it's a poor fit. RUN AWAY! The person who assisted me with the first pair no longer work there, but she was wonderful and worked with me to find a cost-effective solution. The others used shady sales tactics and are not transparent with you on the price. They will warn you not to go to ZENNI/Warby/EyeBuyDirect.com to get glasses online because they aren't going to be customized the way they can do it. They will bring you to the MOST EXPENSIVE items first and shower you with compliments. They will say things like: "it won't be on the shelves for long" and tell you they only make # of copies of the frames. I've had to schedule an appointment at 5:30 for viewing and they called you several times asking "where are you?" at 05:31pm as I'm around the corner to the store. My partner came by about 30 minutes later and my partner told me the some of the styles we picked out didn't fit me AT ALL, but happened to be the most expensive ones. I don't trust the sales team and you shouldn't either. Once you realize what they're doing, it lessens the appeal of returning to this location ever again. I got a pair of virtually unwearable glasses and I feel mislead and scammed. The Dr. who did my vision exam was amazing and patient with me, I would see her again. The sales team at SOHO? I'm a reluctant shopper, especially for eyeglasses but it was time, and my wife and I had already tried two eyeglass stores unsuccessfully and were getting weary when we entered SEE, last Friday. There was only one person working at the time but she was very friendly immediately. She was calm and clearly very knowledgeable and eager to help us both, but without any pressure or upselling. She even asked about our insurance, and gave honest and professional advice and opinions that actually saved us money! Her name is Tameika Smiley. I got the impression that she was smiling all the time but of course we were all wearing masks, but she exuded such a genuine and helpful nature that the mask could not hide. i have been a customer there for 10 years. The frames are usually very creative and interesting. However my latest experience was extremely bad! I had my lenses redone and they assured me that this could be done and then be fitted on the frame, so I could keep my glasses meanwhile. It seemed strange... And of course, when they called me to say that the lenses were ready.... the lenses did not fit the frame. So everything had to be sent back to the lab. i really need those glasses as I have a high prescription... Result: a week has gone by, glasses not ready, I have to go out of town. My favorite pair of SEE glasses frames (with SEE prices, choices, acceptance of insurance, transition option, progressive option, not to mention a lot of really fun as well as classic conservative frames, I have more than one pair of SEE glasses) broke (quite old and also squashed) I was heartbroken. They were my regular glasses and I took the popped-out lens, broken frame and went to SEEs to see what they could do. They no longer made my exact frame, but Ron found several frames in the store that were either a perfect fit or a potential fit for my lenses. I loved a potential fit and he managed to pop my lenses into the frame, and they looked perfect. At SEEs, if you buy a frame you also buy the lenses so I was entitled to a new pair of lenses and decided to try out progressives instead of just getting an identical lens. Additionally bundled in purchasing frames was also a free eye exam! I went for my eye exam, it had been a little over a year since the last one and my prescription had changed slightly in both eyes. So I now will get an updated prescription a new pair of glasses, and I'm comfortably wearing my new/old glasses until my updated lenses show up in a few days. How to turn disaster into a unexpected step up. Really lovely, thoughtful customer service, excellent eye exam and love my glasses.... So glad I discovered SEE. read more

I love coming to this location. Muse, the manager, is friendly and warm and makes you want to come back. Really everyone is friendly. The best thing is everyone has great style so you'll have no trouble getting help selecting a frame to suit your needs. I used to go to a competitor but I have stopped because you can really find unique frames at See and the turnover is great so you ever have to worry about someone else rocking your frames. But they all worked as a team to give me their opinion in 2 or 3 tries. At the same time,they leave you alone to shop, but helped me with the final decision. I love SEE so it pains me to write this review. I had a lovely experience in the store during my exam and working with the staff there in the front of the store. I agreed to purchase the (very expensive) daily contact lenses vs what I had before and have them shipped to my home since I live in Boston. Fast forward five weeks later and I still did not have my order. I emailed them and the corporate contact when I did not receive a reply from the store. A few days later a box showed up on my doorstep but for only one eye. Fast forward another two weeks later and the second box finally showed up. Honestly, for an order of over 1k for contact lenses, I'd expect way better. If I'd ordered off of 1800-Contacts or something along those lines, I would have saved money AND would've had them in 10% of the time. While I won't abandon my loyalty to SEE altogether, I will - from now on - stick to my locations in Boston and glasses only. read more

Just wanted to give rave reviews for both "Muse" (pronounced Moose), who is an optician (and also I believe the Store Manager), and the fabulous optometrist Dr. Alshawkani (who was super patient with me throughout my entire eye exam). For starters, I shopped in the SEE Bleecker St. location (bought a pair of frames in late summer 2017) and I felt the customer service was great and went back to get a new pair this season (since I was feeling like changing up my look). The store was packed (naturally since it was a Saturday), so I took a snap of the glasses I liked at the Bleecker St. store to see if I could go back when it was a little more quiet for an eye exam. Fast forward a month (or two), and I finally decided to pull the trigger and go back to get the glasses, but first I simultaneously emailed the Bleecker St store and SOHO location (closer to my apt), with the ITEM# and photo of me wearing the glasses. They BOTH responded within (10) minutes to say they had one pair in mint condition left in stock. Knowing that the country only carries 75 pairs of each style (to keep their inventory fresh and exciting), I jumped at the chance to snatch the last pair in stock since a major sale was going on before Labor Day and I had a feeling I would be SOL. Since SOHO is closer to my home, I decided to go with them. Elisabeth (who answered my email) even texted me and when I supplied a photo of my Aetna card, she immediately provided me with pricing on the new frames and also booked me for an eye exam the very next day. AMAZING customer service! Today I left the store a very happy camper. Dr. Alshawkani made sure that my prescription was PERFECT. Feeling SUPER disappointed with my new glasses from SEE. The frame is wonderful, the lenses SUCK. The staff is friendly, selection of frames is great, and my glasses were ready for pickup before the estimated time, HOWEVER the lenses are HORRIBLE! After an hour of picking up my glasses I noticed that things in the distance were blurry. I gave it a few days b/c I figured my eyes were still adjusting. But after 3 days, things haven't improved. I sent an email today explaining the situation and they told me to come in with my old glasses (from somewhere else) for comparison. To my knowledge, my prescription has been the same for YEARS. I went in, they checked both glasses and told me the old frames are a different prescription and that the new frames I purchased from them were correct and matched the newest prescription. Ok, fine. But if the new frames are the correct, most up to date prescription, WHY CAN'T I SEE OUT OF THEM??? They told me to do two things: 1) give it a few more days to see if my eyes adjust and 2) go for a check-up with my doctor. They were flexible and made a note that I'd return after that. Fine. I left dissatisfied, but ok with their response. A few hours later, I got home tonight and discovered that my order from the online discount optical store, Zenni, had arrived. I tried on my TWO new glasses from Zenni, which combined cost me less than HALF of what I paid for my frames from SEE ($75 including anti-reflective coatings and shipping). The frame quality is comparable, however the quality of the lenses is like night and day. I can see crystal clear through BOTH of my Zenni frames and the prescription is the EXACT SAME ONE that I provided SEE. I don't understand. I'm going to return ONCE AGAIN with my Zenni frames, which they can't claim are different prescriptions, and see what they do to rectify the situation, but it's unlikely that I'll purchase from SEE again, or if I do, it'll just be for the frames -- I'll go elsewhere for lenses. read more

I love the selection at SEE. The glasses are of better quality then a Zenni or Warby Parker, and the styles are much more interesting too. You can find a really zany pair of specs (giant, colorful, crazy shape) if that's what you are looking for and they also have plenty of more subdued but still unique glasses. The staff was helpful and friendly. The associate I worked with was new (like, first day new) but she was still really great even though she had to ask a few questions. I had an eye exam at SEE on a Sunday and she was really nice too. I can't wait until my insurance resets, because I will definitely get another pair of glasses to love. If you buy 5 pairs over time, you get one free! And if you use insurance, they give you 40% off the full price of a second pair. read more

I accompanied my friend, herself a See disciple, to one of their trunk shows and I have been hooked ever since. The styles they offer are eclectic and expertly crafted. Everyone that works there right down to the uber chic optometrist has style and swag for days. The customer service is stellar. I'm on my third pair of eyeglasses from them and I'm doing everything I can not to go back and spend ALL my money. I now go exclusively to Elizabeth for assistance and she provides honest feedback and legendary service. Now that I've discovered this gem, I find it hard to purchase eyewear elsewhere. I've had issues with my eyes that doctors have been unable to help with. I visited Dr. Lamees Alshawkani after a couple of coworkers recommended her and can say without a doubt that she is the best of the best. She was punctual, remained patient through all my questions, and did not rush me at any point during the exam. Her bedside manner was superb; I felt like I was talking to a friend the entire time. I appreciated her gentleness, the way she made my comfort her priority, and that she actually helped with my specific concerns. I am so grateful to have found my new optometrist; she's not one to let go of. Also, I decided to stick around and check out SEE's glasses; they have an amazingly fun and eclectic selection. I always end up coming back to SEE because there's no place quite like it. I've tried going to many of the eyeglass stores in this area, including Warby Parker, illori, and others, but they just don't have the variety and character that you can find at SEE. They have really great collection that range in price. All their frames are made in limited quantities per season, so once they sell out, they sell out. And every season they have something new and more exciting. They do well with unique colors, finishes, and styles. It's definitely the one place where I can find something more artistic or bold without having to venture to other stores. Often there are promotions or sales going on as well that help you save when buying multiple frames or older out-of-season frames. The staff is very helpful when selecting a pair of glasses or figuring out insurance. They accept quite a lot of insurances which was also a great plus, making them very affordable. Always be sure to double check your plan before coming in though. I'm on my 3rd pair of glasses from SEE, and just got my family on board with them too. Highly recommended. read more

It took almost 6 months to finally get my glasses and I finally through in the towel after 3 rounds of exams, re-exams, product replacements, etc. to have poor fitting glasses in a style I don't love and one pair that is compelled ineffetcive. Service was friendly and the optical exams seemed very thorough and professional. Everyone was nice, but ultimately styles were very limited, I was hustled into buying one style as the ONLY frame that would work for the lens (not true). Seems to have been some new mgt who tried her best to please, but everything was labored and took weeks and weeks for each change. I just could not continue the cycle any longer. read more

I'll start this review by saying I LOVE my glasses. 5 stars for the glasses themselves. However, the service can use a lot of improvement! During my first visit (in which I purchased my glasses), my salesman was super helpful & sweet. He gave me suggestions that worked really well for my face, & I was so excited for my glasses. When I paid, my receipt was broken down into 3 sections; one section was for transition lenses, which I opted to get. However, a few days into owning them, I decided I wanted normal lenses. I brought the glasses back to the store to exchange, expecting to be refunded for the transition lenses portion of my receipt. However, the store manager & the other woman in the store could not explain my receipt to me AT ALL, and said that I was not due a refund for some reason that didn't make any sense. They told me they'd have their accounting guy call me to explain it better.... a few months ago. I have yet to receive that call! They seemed like very sweet girls & seemed to want to help me, but they had no understanding of how their own store charges purchases, and they did not follow through on the promise to have their accountant explain the receipt to me. Needless to say... although I love my glasses, I still feel I am owed $66 from SEE, and I am disappointed in the lack of service regarding the phone call I am owed.
