Update: I want to give credit where it's due. After my experience, the store manager, Britney, personally called me to discuss the situation and offered a sincere apology. She invited me back and said she would personally assist me during my next visit. Britney was outstanding--professional, compassionate, and exactly the kind of manager every business should have. While my original experience was very disappointing, the way she handled the situation restored my confidence in Warby Parker. ---- Absolutely terrible customer service. I arrived on time for my appointment and waited almost an hour, only to be told I couldn't be seen because my appointment was booked as a re-exam instead of a full exam. The reason? A full exam takes about 20 minutes, and my appointment was booked for 15 minutes. Let that sink in. They had me waiting for nearly an hour, but somehow couldn't find an extra five minutes to honor my appointment. Instead, the front desk employee, Shay, kept smiling and acting like she was doing me a favor by offering to rebook me five hours later. It felt incredibly patronizing. Rather than taking responsibility for what appeared to be a scheduling issue, they wasted my time and expected me to be grateful. If you value your time, I'd look elsewhere. This place has no respect for its customers' schedules, and I won't be coming back. read more

I've had two experiences at Warby Parker after my cataract surgery, and I'm honestly a bit mixed. My first visit was to get reading glasses. I was handed a tray of frames and a sheet and told to pick my strength by looking at a sheet and trying on different strengths it felt very self-service, which might work for some people, but after surgery, I would have appreciated more guidance. My second visit was because I needed a very light prescription. The associate I worked with was friendly and knowledgeable, and I do want to give the benefit of the doubt that they were trying to help. However, I was told that returning my recently purchased frames would take over a month, while ordering a new pair would take about two weeks. Out of curiosity, I ordered online instead--and my glasses are arriving in less than a week. That made the in-store timeline confusing and a bit frustrating. That said, I do like their pricing, frame selection, and convenience. I'd still consider going back, but I'd recommend going in with a clear plan and understanding your options ahead of time and maybe bring a friend for support. read more

My sisters have been buying their glasses from Warby Parker for years, based on their reasonable prices and nice frames. So I decided to get my first pair of progressive glasses from there. The Union Square location closes at 7pm and I got there after work around 6:15pm, which gave me plenty of time to browse their selections. They have plenty of options: narrow, medium, wide, extra wide, sporty, and low bridge glasses. Someone greeted me as I had walked in but I told them that I wanted to look around first. When I had picked out a frame, I went to the back and an optician assisted me. I had my own prescription from my ophthalmologist, so she took my pupil distance. I mentioned that I also wanted to buy a pair of sunglasses, but had difficulty choosing from 4 frames. She had me try them on and she helped me narrow it down to 2. I ended up going with one of the suggested frames, with a $69 discount for purchasing a second pair. If you add on options like transition lenses, thinner lenses, blue light filtering, lens coatings, etc., it increases the overall price but I still find it to be very affordable compared to other places that I have been to over the years. I liked that I got an email receipt with a breakdown of the pricing for both glasses. When I mentioned that I was leaving for a trip in 2 weeks, the optician assured me that the glasses would be in store in 10 days. I would get an email once they were ready. Sure enough, I received an email 9 days later. When I came in, someone checked me in right away and an optician called out my name a few minutes later. She had me check both glasses for fit and if I could see clearly with them on. She also asked if I had progressives before. When I said this was my first time, she gave me some pointers on what to expect and how to make adjustments if I was using them for computer work. She told me it could take two weeks to get fully adjusted, but in the meantime I could come back for any fit adjustments or if I had questions. I am pretty satisfied with the whole experience and will be back for my future glasses needs. read more

Great service and very friendly staff. The eye exam was very thorough and convenient to get an appointment. I highly recommend Warby Parker!

My appointment was the first one of the day. Staff was lovely in greeting my party upon entering the store. Check in was smooth and quick. We were welcomed to browse frames while we waited or we could sit in the back if that suited us. The eye tech did a great job asking questions and scanning my eyes. It's an up to date replacement for eye dilation with eye drops. I was very happy about that. Then we did the eye pressure test and I happy to report that at no point did I have to have air or anything else like that blown into my eyes. After 10 minutes with him, I was taken over to the female doctor who assured me eyes are healthy, just older. The person helping me choose the frames was lovely and did a great job of helping me choose frames that suited my face. Checkout was a breeze and all in all took 45 minutes from start to finish. I'm looking forward to using my new frames when they arrive. read more

Great visit, store experience! They shipped my glasses 10 days later, as communicated. They were undeliverable after multiple annoying emails that they were on their way. I tried twice emailing their help line. No response, so I called. The agent was clearly untrained and kept putting me on hold. Now I get an email that they are remaking them. I asked that they overnight them. I was told they don't do that. I will never set foot in there again. Will likely return them if they ever do arrive. read more

The best lenses I've gotten at a relatively lower price, compared to other stores. I had to get lenses and frames. The only caveat, is that you can't bring in frames of your own. The lense measurements are spot on. My old school ophthalmologist wears glasses from there. If they're good enough for him, they're good enough for me. Highly recommended. I typically find Warby Parker's people to be a mixed bag when it comes to competence, but always eager to please and never performing below my expectations. My first (and probably last) visit to this outlet on 5th Avenue near Union Square yesterday reveals once again that nothing is "always" or "never". A very rainy day, I entered just behind two other people, and we were greeted one-by-one at the door by two employees to check us in. When it came to be my turn, the young man asked what they could do for me. I needed lenses popped out from a bent pair of frames and installed in a replacement pair. He replied without haste. "I'm sorry, we don't do that. How bent are the frames?" "Severely." Then, after pausing and waiting to never find out why he asked, I continued. "Okay, then; I'll go to the Chelsea location. Thank you." "They don't do that there either." "Oh, yes they do." "They do?" "Oh, yes, they absolutely do. Thanks again." And with that I left, not saying anything further. Halfway down the block across 5th, I began to wonder if he thought I expected them to provide the frames, possibly at no charge, or... but that was just me trying to accept responsibility for something someone else did wrong. There really was no excuse for his response and simultaneous lack thereof, and if he had allowed me to speak or asked another question, I could have told him I had the new frames with me. Perhaps his answer would have been the same, but one way or another, this location wouldn't be getting a one-star review right now. I'm not really a vindictive person, but in this case, someone in their organization needs to see this, reassess operational procedures for this store, and possibly retrain some people on how to sell things. People like one particular short-ish 20-something male with dark hair. Even if nobody in the shop would have been willing to help me with my request, the proper thing to do would be to refer me to a sales professional instead of somehow qualifying me at the door without offering entry. No exceptions. Perhaps I could have been talked into buying a different pair, or talked myself into it; at the moment, I would burn money rather than spend it at this high profile and low performance location. read more

You simply cannot beat Warby Parker for prescription eyeglasses. With all the perks, they are a fantastic bargain when compared with other opticians. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by an associate who asks if you need help. If you simply want to browse, no one follows you around and you don't feel compelled to buy. But then again, that's been my experience with all Warby Parker stores, anyway. The employees are helpful but not pushy. This particular shop is well-lit, spacious and airy, with a wide selection of frames to choose from. If you live, work or simply happen to be in the area of the Union Square store, check it out. I had a great experience working with Troy (hopefully I remembered the associate's name correctly). I already had a prescription and wanted to find frames. Troy was super helpful and asked some great questions about how I liked my glasses and what sort of situations I'd need them for. I got some great recommendations, and great product information. I feel really good about my choice. I really appreciated how relaxed and friendly the whole experience was. Picking glasses can be stressful, but I was able to get everything ordered and set on my lunch break. Would definitely come back again. The young man who helped me was very nice, but not well trained. First he couldn't find my history and told me it wasn't in the system. The manager walked by and heard him, then clicked a button and pulled it up. Then he put my order in wrong, requiring that I have a prescription for readers that I've ordered a million times before. Now I've been on the phone with their customer service for 20 minutes now trying to get the order fixed because they say it was processed wrong. Very annoying. read more

If you list that WP has free eclipse glasses, then you should make it easy to find out whether a particular location has them in stock or not.
