Everyone knows about Sees Candy! However, I did NOT know that they are known for donating to a bunch of foundations and that this month (every August) they celebrate DOGust. In honor of August 1st being the universal birthday of shelter dogs (since it's pretty much impossible to know when their true birthdays are) Sees Candy celebrates the whole month by having dog themed gifts, such as their paw print shaped chocolate gift box (human safe, not dog safe) and for the pups, they are selling bandannas I picked up some sugar free candy for my mom and then made a donation at the register (you can even make a donation online during checkout) Jessica, helped me and handed out a couple samples. Whenever I come in here everyone has a smile on their face. So 5 stars for staff always being helpful and friendly. I picked out a custom 1 pound box. You always get a free sample when you visit. You don't have to take the one they give you, you can chose whichever one you'd like! If you don't want to buy an entire box you can get just a couple pieces in a bag. For YEARS it was a tiny little store...I grew up going to this location as I live in the neighborhood right by it. I have ordered from See's only once. The order wasn't for me but the delivery was smooth and I was notified once the delivery was made. Since it was during the hot, hot Alabama summer when I ordered, they packaged the order to protect the chocolate from melting in the process. On the East Coast, there were many excellent candy stores and candy manufacturers that didn't break the bank. Through the years they disappeared to make way for chocolatiers that do break the bank. See's existed only as a small ad in magazines for ordering. The real live See's is like a fairy tale shop found only in the west. Nothing could really be this nice. But it is. "You had me at hello." ...and the arrival candy sample. When we entered, we were informed that photographing of employees was not permitted. Ok. We arrived, I guess during a lull, so there was store and candy to photograph aplenty. Immediately the flow of customers appeared from nowhere. Let me tell you they mean business. Serious and specialized orders. When it started to get busy it was reminiscent of the stock market or old Fulton Fish Market. Real loud. The first candy lady was helping a candy buying bride so we were free to roam. We were like kids in a candy store...oh, wait...we were. Wide eyed. But then along came most helpful and magical Sarah. She guided us through a selection process that befits a luxury purchase. I had a gift card that had been sitting in a drawer way too long. She was charmingly patient with us as we pressed our noses against the lengthy display cases. She even gave us a rewards card and yet another sample. Entering the store on a busy Valentine's Day, I found the store to be very organized with candy boxes stacked neatly and well labeled. Large posters above the shelves provided a good picture of what was provided in the candy packages. While standing in a fast moving line, the friendly staff organized the customers in two lines; i.e. custom orders vs. pre-packaged purchases. This moved things along nicely. The See's staff was friendly and helpful, answering any questions that one might have about their products. An added bonus; you get free samples while you wait to pay for your purchase! Corporate discounts can be available, so make sure you ask if you think your company might participate in a See's discount program. Went into the store yesterday and was amazed how good it smelled in there. Immediately I was greeted by Sarah, with an H and also Sara with no H. They gave me a delicious piece of chocolate from a huge box and of course I had a dark chocolate treat! I told her I'm off to a 4th of July soiree in Los Feliz and this is a host gift for their new home. I knew he liked the dark chocolate brittle, and I asked if it were gluten free, Sarah said yes! I was thrilled, since I was a corporate customer for UCI and always marketed with boxes of See's sweet treats to my case managers, and MD offices, etc. All were so happy when they saw the See's logo and my biz card. See's has always brought such joy and goodness to me and my referral sources. Sarah, once again, said may I wrap it and use the black n white paper and do a bow? I was thrilled, service, with a smile, and graciousness. I saw she was a Lead for the location on Bellflower in Long Beach CA. She definitely made my day, and I walked out happy as pie, She let me sample the new season coconut chew, out of this world! I must admit she knows her stuff, and most of all she knows how to make the customer smile and leave happy! I was in store literally just now. Spent $50 on a gift box. Spoke at length with two different employees. Even though everyone else in the store received a free piece of candy as a sample I was never offered a sample. I was even chatting at the special order counter about their seasonal candies. The employee pulled a sample from under the counter, showed it to me, commented how good it was, then put it right back in the box. With the exception of parking this location will be awesome. The staff were so nice and welcoming. They were very helpful and will answer all your questions. They will also offer free samples for you to try out and will try their best for you to get the best deal. See's candies are staple here in LA so it's best for you to visit this location and buy from here. The only issue is that parking sometimes is hectic and you may have trouble landing a parking spot in the rear or in front of the building. I wanted to order chocolate as a gift for my dads birthday. I noticed many shops are closed but luckily this one in Long Beach at the location on Bellflower Blvd is open, but you can only either order online like I did and it's a lot faster or when you get there you have to call and wait a little while to get what you want. My dad is a big fan of dark chocolate so I ordered online the dark chocolate box set and it was $23.95. When I arrived I park behind and walked over and there was about 4 people already waiting in line I gave the staff my name for pick up and my chocolates were given to me fairly quick. However I do miss going inside and able to get samples and pick various candy but for now curbside pick up will do. read more

I've been coming here 36 years. ALWAYS been happy with my experience until today.. Store was organized in two lines, things flowed smooth for a 20 minute wait until it's time to pay.. You can only use a Visa Giftcard for a $25 purchase because "they've had problems".. My gripe, how about a sign that lets us know things like this, holidays and all.. Probably gonna be a ton more cards after the holidays as well.. And the manager, I got an apology, but a solid NO on ringing my purchases up separately, no inkling of alternative solutions or payment, just nope and beat it, got other customers behind you.. We live in the neighborhood and walk to See's at this location. Most times the workers are polite but not very personable. Although we don't come to See's to make friends, Erin you are getting paid to be polite and engage when a customer is trying to make small talk.
