This is a great place to buy chocolate gifts especially around Christmas time. The chocolate boxes are definitely pricey though. The service was really good here and I was handed a sample as soon as I came in. I got the assorted chocolate boxes and butterscotch lollipops which are always good. While this place looks clean and modern, the people behind the counter are still the lazy helpers that have always made See's on Prospect a reluctant place to go. Since their remodel, I decided to take my sons there for a small treat. One woman was talking with a customer about which was the prettiest box , and the other person just finished with a customer. As we were waiting for someone to help us get a quick order, now the woman who just finished with the customer ends up talking with the other See's employee and customer about the gift box. This went on for 15 minutes, long enough to realize I don't need to purchase chocolates after all. Unfortunately, while they remodeled their store, they still have not improved their service. Oh yes my local See's Candy. I am not a big fan of the brand but love how the smell of the chocolates are when I do make the time to buy a gift for a neighbor or friend. Before all this I came here once in high school, it's a huge hit among students at the local high school. A lot of people who were in HS relationships always come here for gifts for their girlfriends or boyfriends. As I got older, and are free of any mistreaters, this became my destination for neighbor gifts or something to send to actual friends as a token for appreciation. Even when not brand loyal to See's they have different types of chocolates for various holidays such as Christmas. I really love their chocolate Santas, they have been a favorite ever since age 5 when I saw them for the first time. Price is a bit high but worth it. Stopped in to buy one pound of assorted dark chocolates. This See's Candy is located in a small Shopping Center on Prospect Avenue across the street from Trader Joe's. Parking is a premium and there is no handicap parking in front of the See's Candy. They have been at this location for the better part of 50 years. As I walked in I was immediately greeted with friendly hellos. Now usually at this point you get handed a free chocolate but, at this particular store the gentleman walked around the coner with an assortment and asked which one we would like, what a cool concept. See's chocolates are always 5 stars the service at this location was also excellent they get five stars as well, I'm deducting 1 star only because there's no handicap parking out in front of the Seas and it was very hard for my father to come in with me. ( there is handicapped parking further down but it's difficult for people who are handicapped to walk that far) read more

If you're reading this, you're already ahead of the game! See's Candies have different kinds of sales all season and during my visit we found a coupon $5 off a $25 purchase! During Christmas it's very common to see a box of assorted See's chocolates at the dinner table but for our visit my mom was able to customize our very own box of chocolate- rum nougat, about 20 pieces for $23. I didn't even know you were able to customize your box of chocolate, I thought you were always stuck with the assorted box! It's always nice stopping by See's Candies because they always have chocolate that you can taste and they're very generous. Thank you to Michelle for being attentive and helping us with our transaction! There are 2 absolutely horrible Wicked Witches of the West working at this Prospect location. One is elderly and heavyset and no one would ever mistaken her for a loving grandmotherly type. She's as awful, grouchy, and rude as you can get. My husband came here to buy my son and I gift cards for Valentine's Day a few days prior and he mentioned the women working there didn't know how to add funds to 2 new gift cards and was quite obnoxious with her lack of ignorance when he questioned her if the transaction went through. Last night 2/16 my son and I went to get 1 pound boxes of chocolates and since he doesn't frequent see's often he was taking his time to decide and look at his choices. The lack of service was appalling! The grouch kept rushing him to pick his pieces quickly when he wanted to take his time to look at the display case. When he inquired about a sample he was told they give it to them afterwards (which isn't true bc I've been to the Sunnyvale see's and she gave me one from the display that I requested for and said I could sample it outside while she waited.) How else will you know if you like it for your personalized box? His gift card was for 24.50 and he specifically said he did not want to go over that limit but she insisted that he had more pieces to go even after he repeatedly asked is that enough? After she was done overstuffing chocolates, she weighed the box and yelled out you owe me $6!! like a crazed maniac. During this time I observed her yelling at other customers who came in from across the store NO! YOU CAN'T COME IN!! There was only my son and I and another customer and she kept repeating that we must all be 6ft apart (like a parrot) as if we didn't know about CDC guidelines. Her other female coworker was just as rude as they partnered up together in their despicable behavior towards paying customers looking for some sweetness in their lives during the pandemic. Telling people to get off their phones, hurry up when choosing, rolling their eyes amongst each other while snickering lacks any normal courtesy, let alone SERVICE. It's plainly obvious these GRUMPY old ladies absolutely HATE their jobs as if it was painstakingly difficult to smile, be patient, and place chocolates into a box. Even though this See's is right by my house I'd rather drive to another location to avoid this unpleasant experience and I highly recommend others to do the same. read more

I stopped by to pick up five presents for Easter. I picked two tall Easter bunnies from the right side. Suddenly, the shelf police swarmed me. "What are you doing selecting bunnies for the display side?" I thought I was going to be arrested. This rude person was a worker at the store. How was I to know that you were to never, and I say never, select items fro the right side. I didn't know that the left side, which had dozens of chocolate bunnies, was the place to pick a chocolate bunny. I immediately left after buying a couple items. I went to the Campbell store where I was greeted cheerfully and with respect. The Las Gatos store is also a pleasant site. Skip the West San Jose store. While our family is a huge See's fan, I was very disappointed in our last purchase. I bought a large Red Heart shaped premade box of milk chocolates about a week before Valentine's Day for my husband. Sees has been getting more and more expensive since the days that I remember selling boxes of chocolates for school of 1 lb for about $11. Now it's over $16, but I can't lie, they are very good. Peanut crunch and their Awesome Peanut Brittle Bars are enough to cheer me up on a day when I just need a pick me up. With this particular Sees Candies, service is nice, and you can always go to the counter and get a half-pound, pound, whatever, of all the different candies (while sometimes getting a free sample too). I would normally just pick up a box, but this was the first time I even considered hand picking the candy, like a donut shop. Actually I brought my wife, and it turns out the pleasure of hand picking the candy (and getting a free sample of two) is greater than the surprise of getting candy, so I recommend it. I come to this one and the one at Valley Fair, but THIS one will be my favorite from now on. The customer service is simply awesome. It's hard not to like a chocolate shop, but I wanted to write a review about this See's location because they really deserve it! We went on Valentine's Day and of course it was very busy but the employees were still so gracious and gave each person individualized attention. We got a custom one lb box and the woman who served us was really kind and patient during what must have been a very hectic day for her, and treated us as if we were the only customers in the store. I also just love how charming the black and white decor of all the See's stores is. I don't think it has changed since the 40's-- it always makes me feel like I've stepped back in time. So shopping at any See's is always fun because the stores are so charming and clean and inviting. All of the stores are company owned, not franchises which may have something to do with how nicely kept they are, but this location was particularly nice because the employees were so friendly. Someone was offering samples, which is always nice as it is nice to try the varieties that you might not have thought to pick before. Our new favorites are the apricot bon bons! De-lish! See's chocolates make such a great gift for holidays, or anytime you want to treat someone. Everyone in our family has a favorite variety that is fun to treat them with! Plus it's very versatile as in addition to prepackaged and custom packed boxes of various sizes, you can just get one or two chocolates that you can buy individually, they also have lollipops and novelties for kiddos or for a small gift, and many items in holiday packaging at various times of year. read more

For West Coast natives (or nearly natives), See's is a tradition. I really can't help but get excited when I see a box of See's. I haven't seen many locations other than this one and am equal parts happy and sad that they are so close to us! There are many per-packaged options: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, nuts&chews, etc etc. Then there's the option to make your own box. I always fill up mine to the brim with dark chocolate scotchmallows HEAVEN. They are so delicious, I just can't. Last trip in there, the super nice girl that was behind the counter said one of the customers gave her a tip to melt the scotchmallows between some graham crackers. YUM.
