The service here is amazing! Ask for the firey red head (Kyleigh) behind the bar! She knows how to make a yummy drink & puts on a good show too!

Table outside. Great place to hang!

A Charlotte staple this place was here long before I arrived and from speaking with my friends who grew up here it has been a favorite hangout of Charlotte natives for years. They are known for their inviting patio (I am not really sure I even know what the inside of this place looks like) and their inexpensive mixed drinks they call transfusions which are served in a signature Styrofoam cup. I no longer live very close to this place so I hadn't ventured over here in a while but my Patriots were playing on a Thursday night so some friends suggested this location to get together and watch the game. We managed to snag some couch space along with a table surrounding a fire pit. A fire wasn't needed as the weather was nice but I imagine they come in handy during the colder months. For drinks I kept it simple with beer orders while many at our table enjoyed their transfusion drinks. We decided to try their pizza and ordered three larges for the table along with some chips and queso and several appetizers. The food was ok nothing special. Good enough to eat while drinking and watching sports but not something you would plan your night around to come eat. If I were to base it simply off the food the score would be lower but our main objective was to watch the game and have a good time and they certainly provide that. Our server was fantastic and did a great job keeping up with everyone's orders she gets 5 stars from me. I can definitely see the charm to this place, it is old school and laid back. If I lived closer I would probably swing by more often.

One of my favorite spots to watch football games! Got to try the diet transfusion or the regular if you aren't counting calories! Also they have some "decent"'wines for you none beer liquor drinkers :)

This place is alright. The food is typical bar food options but everything I ordered tasted good. The drinks I ordered were also good, however I do think the first drink I ordered was incorrect. But as it tasted fine and I didn't want to wait for another drink I drank it. The outdoor are could be so good, but they REALLY need to invest in new seating under the roof. The couches by the big TVs were all broken and extremely uncomfortable. When my boyfriend sat down he literally sunk into the seat. This place is not incredibly expensive which is nice.

So...another one of my "been in Charlotte 3 years and I just tried this place?!" moments (ie Penguin). Was out with a buddy last week and after some good beer tasting at Dockworkers, we were in the mood for pizza. Decided to head in the direction of the new Mellow Mushroom on Selwyn, but unfortunately (fortunately tuned) it was not open yet. Decided to go across the street to Selwyn Pub as we'd never been. OMG...place is awesome. Was busy for a Tuesday and the patio area is twice the size of the pub itself. Huge TVs, couches, fire pits, high tops, low tops, fireplaces, separate bar. Selwyn could be my new favorite pub in Charlotte, but I'll let a few more visits in the coming weeks decide that. Found ourselves a fire pit near the TV. Baseball game was on and checked out the menu. To my surprise and delight all the pizza was $12.99. That's right, za for $12.99. And that's their specialty pizza prices. You want A 10" (I think that's the right side, then it's $7.99). You want an 18" cheese pizza with all the toppings...yep...$12.99. Witnessed a few handfuls of customers picking up the pizza to-go, which means like usual I'm the last one to the party. I'll be back soon, especially with the nice fall weather in store!

Too busy socializing and eating his lunch to take our order.

So we come here quite often. Though we have never sat at the bar. Today we decided to sit at the bar because there were only 2 people there. The bartender basically dared us to order a drink and we had to beg for menus. My thought is that if we aren't the right kind of customers (old) let us know. We'll leave. Truth is, I can stay at home and be ignored.

Always a fun time at Selwyn! Best during football season! Just make sure to get there early for a table because those fill up quickly!

It was fairly busy, but we walked in without a reservation and were seated indoors right away. We ordered two Guinnesses, the Mussels appetizer (with garlic bread), and split the Fish & Chips plate. Everything was incredible. The cod was perfectly beer-battered, the hand-cut chips were crisp and hearty, and the green peas and tartar sauce rounded it out beautifully. The mussels and garlic bread were also delicious (even ordered a second garlic bread). I would 100% order both dishes again. Our server was also friendly, attentive, and gave honest, helpful recommendations. Prices felt fair for the quality, and the overall experience hit all the right notes. We've already recommended it to friends and will definitely be back. A cozy, welcoming spot for comfort food done right.

Overall I think it is worth checking out if you've never been and maybe it will grab you and you will want to become a regular. Me personally it's a little out of the way to become a regular haunt located in between Plaza and NoDa but not walking distance from either. Also it's not that the service was ever unfriendly but I just didn't feel like it was my vibe. Still a cool bar though and I can see why other enjoy it.

Not a "need to substitute" or "we're missing one of the items" just completely 86ed. Despite being prominently featured at the top of the menu! Since we already had our wine, we had to order something else. I went with the cheese sticks, and my mom ordered a hamburger based on what the table next to us had. When she got her burger though, despite us ordering the same as the table next to us, it was a completely different burger. She ate it anyway and my cheese sticks were okay for pub food. But overall, a really disappointing experience based on what we expected. And we had to hunt down the server to pay so we could get back to the conference on time.
