We went to Seng's for the first time. It was a very nice experience--reminded me of the Korean restaurants we enjoyed in Pusan and Seoul, Korea! Grilling your own food at the table really is something we should all do at least once. Besides, at Seng's it's all you can eat and as long as you eat most of all you cook, the staff is more than happy to provide more meat choices and ingredients. The staff were quite helpful and very efficient. The place was clean and quiet. And the exhaust system was quite powerful, you almost didn't even notice the smoke so it was a delight to eat without worrying about anything other than eating what we cooked! read more

I brought my little brother here for lunch. He had never been to a Korean BBQ place before, so we went on a Sunday and let him try as much as he wanted. The Bulgogi is on point. The Spicy Beef Belly was surprisingly good, and the plain Beef Belly was surprisingly "meh". All the different types of chicken were good as well. Service was good, although we did have to flag someone down one time to get more chicken. The venting they have for the grills is VERY good. Despite all the smoke we created, that little vent sucked up every bit of it and we left the place not smelling like we'd been the BBQ. Anyways... Great place. Good food. I've gotta concur with the other low rating. Service was a nightmare! From the get go, we saw it coming and should have gone across the street. We got there at 5:25 for our 5:30 reservation. We were a party of 9 even though the hostess kept insisting we were a party of 7 (other hostess confirmed it as 9 on the screen). 4 of our 9 people were there, we were told they would not seat us until the full party was there. The other 5 people came right at 5:30 then we waited. And waited. And waited. For 27 more minutes!! They told us at least three times that they were clearing our table. We felt like that Seinfeld episode watching party after party yet seated before us!! The shorter female hostess became straight rude after the third time in that 27 minutes we asked how much longer (she really should not be in a customer facing role IMO) Once we got to our table, things didn't get better. 10 minutes to take our drink orders, 10 more for them to be delivered, the few alcoholic drinks took even longer. They eventually took our orders for meat and sides limiting us to 3 only meats on the table at a time (other Korean BBQs have allowed each person at the table to order a meat). The sides "for the table" came out just as slowly and in single serving portions. We didn't get the white rice we requested until almost the end of the meal. Pile on top of that the number of things they were out of--no bulgogi beef, no miso soup, no cheese corn, no miso chicken, no bulgogi pork, no soft tofu soup. How can you even be a Korean restaurant without anything bulgogi? It was our observation that there was a significant lack of waitstaff. This is a high touch type business and they were running it with what looked like a skeleton crew. Many times we had to flag down a server either to ask for more of something or inquire about what we'd already ordered. We felt unimportant and unseen as we watched other tables get what looked like a higher level of service. There was apparent frustration in our servers over the time the "kitchen" was taking but even the things under their control (like drinks and bussing empty plates) took far too long. Fortunately, they did not enforce their 90 minute time limit that was so prominently posted on their menu! I've never seen such a thing! To their credit, our servers were not unpleasant or unkind nor were we unkind to them but we did express our frustrations to them more than once. While everything food wise (that was available) was extremely delicious, the poor, slow service, onerous rules, and disgusting bathroom condition made this a one and done experience for us. read more

This was the first time at a Korean BBQ for the majority of our party of seven. Our server explained what our options were and what items they had already out on our table were. After making our first choices we were really impressed how quickly the meats and other items we choose were delivered to our table. I wish I had asked our servers name so I could give him a huge shout out! He was very friendly, excellent at explaining the process. He also checked back frequently to see what we needed more of. There were many choices of meat and vegetables, sauces and sides. Everything very fresh, well seasoned and marinated. I liked the garlic chicken and the brisket the most. The bulgogi beef, carne asada beef and miso chicken were also favorites for our group. The kimchi was some of the best we have had in a long time and the vegetable and kimchi pancakes were crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside, both were good but we liked the kimchi one better. The restaurant was very clean and decorated nicely. Every staff member that we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. This was a great special occasion treat for us. We had the barbecue. We had 7 different meat options at a time and whatever sides you wanted. I had a party of six including me and we got knocked out at two rounds. Meats I would personally recommend the spicy pork belly. It was chewy in a good way and had a lovely flavor. The beef bellies (spicy/non spicy) was also great. Beef and pork bulgogi has a lovely umami flavor. I had more meats but the best things were the sides. The kimchi was delectable and still crunchy. I do not believe it was house made but honestly that doesn't matter much to me. The spicy cucumbers tasted of gochugaru and were not as crunchy as I personally liked but still flavorful! The Hawaiian Mac salad was perfectly balanced and the pasta had a nice bounce and chew. The Asian veggie pancakes were to die for. They were crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was also covered in this tangy sauce. They're were perfect. The cream corn was delicious and very cheesy. There was a nice balance of cream, corn, and cheese leading to a nice creamy flavor. I also had a order of lettuce wraps that we add rice, kimchi, spicy cucumbers, and meat. It was really good and had a lot of different textures. The service was great! We had multiple servers and they were lovely. The service was fast and efficient and the hostess was great and bubbly. Our first visit went really well. We were seated very promptly even arriving 15 minutes before our reservation. We went for a Friday evening dinner and there were definitely a lot of staff that were constantly checking in on us. We never really had to wait on food or drink drinks which seems like they are taking the feedback from customers very seriously. The owner came and chatted with us for a bit, which was great. All of the food was really tasty especially some of the premium cuts. Some of the marinated meats were a little salty, but still nothing to complain about. Me and three of my friends regularly go out and try new places In Spokane and this place has been on the list for I minute. I want to specify that most of the negative comments on this place was about service. I couldn't disagree with those comments more. We had servers check on us regularly. I anxiously waited months for this place to open. Despite just opening a few days ago and working out some kinks, our lunch experience today was phenomenal. The service was not lightning quick but KBBQ is about the experience and not how quickly you get your food. I've been to many AYCE KBBQs and you typically sacrifice quality of food/sides for the all-inclusive price and quick service. This place is different. The meats were similar to KBBQs I've been to that made you pay high prices PER plate, and that's because they are good quality. The sides were very generous portions and from what I've heard, the steamed eggs can be a pain to make so I was so excited to see it on their menu. The premium meats are worth it from the Kalbi alone. The lychee-tini and the mushroom soju old fashion were delicious. I could sit here all day and talk about how exciting it is to have this kind of restaurant in Spokane and how much fun we had having lunch here today. It was pretty mid over all. Never gone before, went with my friend for the first time on a Wednesday at 7pm. We were sat on time, food/drinks came out reasonably on time. However our sides and meat came before our appetizer. And we weren't given a timer on how to cook our foods or what our grill was set on. Our shrimp still had poop inside of it. Even when sent back to the kitchen they just arranged it into a heart and didn't remove the gunk. So that was disappointing being charged $10 for left over food that still had poo in it. Total Chaos at Dinner! Go for Lunch, Skip Dinner Service! I had high hopes for Seng's, especially with no real KBBQ competition in Spokane. But dinner service was a mess. 1. We had a 6:45 reservation for 3 but we weren't seated until 7. 2. It took three tries to get a root beer and three tries to get a bowl of rice. 3. First round of meat took 25+ minutes, and the server repeatedly made promises (water, sides) but didn't follow through. 4. Another table sat after us and got a large meat platter within minutes. I asked why... turns out he worked there. So paying customers wait, but staff get priority? 5. The new waiter who took over our table was clearly frustrated, ignored us, and had to be shouted at by his staff friend just to acknowledge us. 6. Basic safety was ignored. Hot grill grates were handled carelessly and placed behind them without warning. 7. Servers were amateur at best. Ignoring customers and laughing with inside jokes. They all looked especially untrained, overwhelmed, and unprofessional. There was no manager keeping things professional. The boss need to be there to oversee how poorly his employees perform. 8. The meat itself was marinated well (the single thing that raises this review to 2 stars), but the grill was uneven and the staff fumbled setting it at the correct heat. It felt like a Gordon Ramsay reality show about kitchen nightmares, except without Ramsay. I half expected to hear him yelling in the back of the kitchen Bottom line: KBBQ is my favorite cuisine, and I wanted to love this place. But this was some of the worst service I've ever had. First, thank you for bringing a restaurant like this to Spokane. It is something the city has truly needed. As someone who spent the majority of my life in SoCal, Korean BBQ has always been a part of my life, and it is great to finally have a place here that captures some of that experience. That said, I want to share a few honest thoughts in the spirit of helpful feedback. Some of the flavors could use a bit more depth. The bulgogi had a very strong pepper taste which I was not accustomed to but was missing the rich marinade I typically expect. On the other hand, the teriyaki beef belly was excellent and actually reminded me more of traditional bulgogi. The kimchi was spot on, and I really enjoyed the marinated spinach, which was a new and pleasant surprise. Rice paper was not available during our visit, but our server explained they are currently working on sourcing it, which I appreciated. We did not try some of the pork, lengua, or options due to personal preferences in our group, but another table nearby seemed to really enjoy it. After trying several restaurants in Spokane that have been voted among the best by the community and finding many of them lacking in seasoning or flavor, this restaurant felt like a welcome change. The potential here is strong, and with some refinement, I believe it can truly stand out. As for the service, yes, it felt a little hectic, but that is common for Korean BBQ in general. The format is fast-paced and interactive, and that naturally brings a certain energy to the experience. Our server Patty did a great job. She was friendly, responsive, and made us feel well taken care of. Speaking as a local business owner, I understand how much goes into starting something new. There is always a gap between expectations and real-world operations in the early stages. Things take time to smooth out so I would take the negative reviews in regards to operations with a grain of salt. If you are still reading, I would say absolutely give this place a try. The pricing is better than most Korean BBQ restaurants I have been to, and with just a few improvements, this could easily become a go-to spot. Our server, however turned out to be a different story. Very rude, very short with requests, forgetting items we ordered, bringing items we didnt. Come to find out it was the first day open. Nobody mentioned opening day, nobody mentioned "bear with us" etc. just a full Priced Cheque for a far from polished product. Give it an F.
