Sentient YUM! I don't even know if that makes sense, but it sounded good in my head... The Sentient Bean is all that a good restaurant should be! They have a wonderful atmosphere, kind of hippieish mixed with casual. The curried tofu salad that I got was delicious! I was very happy with the choice. I did also get a melon soup which I was not fond of, but it was unique! The staff was kind, but what makes this the place for me is that they have so many healthy/vegan choices! great place I found in Savannah GA with lots of healthy yummy options for vegans/vegetarians. I had a tasty spiced apple cider with my morning vegan breakfast burrito. the location itself is super cool with high ceilings, large windows, very spacious, airy and welcoming. a definite must visit in Savannah. read more

thank goodness for a tasty, warm and fast cup of delicious richness after running the savannah half. this place was perfectly located at the top of forsyth park and they had set up a "rapid" coffee and hot chocolate station to accommodate many of the runners. when i lived in savannah, i remember coming here on sat or sun's with the pooch and enjoying their coffee after strolling the squares and parks of savannah. they have such cozy couches to relax on and their coffee was always bold...never cheap and watered down. read more

Great iced coffee and iced chai latte. We were recommended by a friend to come here and got our cold beverage fix satisfied. It's a bit further away from the busy part of the town, but it may very well be worth going out of your way to check out. The iced coffee is served without cream and sugar so you can control those aspects to your liking, but it's also good black. The iced chai latte has a strong chai taste.. as it should, but most places take the edge off of the chai. I also like the play on words of the name, The Sentient Bean. Clever! read more

I am always grateful to find cafes that offer organic coffee, but not all are able to deliver really delicious cups and flavor. This was this case. Coffee was ok. Self service of milk at the coffee station is soy, half&half and whole milk, so I asked for organic options and was told that next time I have to request it and pay an extra charge... Well, being a first time customer, I thought it was an unnecessary comment. Perhaps they should offer the different milk options at the register if they charge for some. The cashier seemed to be in a rush. When I ordered my medium vanilla iced coffee I received a watered down coffee with no vanilla. I tried to make it better by asking another barista to add vanilla and she had a nasty attitude. The bathroom was gross and dim. It was actually really gross. If you like to get up early on a hot morning and play some spirited tennis in Forsythe Park, then Sentient Bean is the perfect place to chill out afterward and have a good cup of coffee (or tea if that is your preference) and just relax for a while. When I am in Savannah, I like to walk up the squares from the river, and play some tennis with the locals in Forsyth Park. Don't be bashful about approaching the tennis regulars. They are happy to have newcomers on the court. After your'e winded by the Savannah heat, just amble on over to the Sentient Bean and get a cup of coffee or if you want something cold, there is a local version of the Slurpy on the menu and bring the newspaper or ipad and just read and relax. I tried some kind of egg burrito. It was OK, a nice breakfast but you are here for the coffee. read more

The food here is good, and it is the best coffee in Savannah (not necessarily glowing praise there) But the restaurant is disgustingly dirty, really just every surface is coated in grim. The rag tag thrift store furniture is falling apart, the paint is chipped, and you can scrape the filth off your table with a spoon. This is a pretty nice coffee shop to relax and enjoy the atmosphere near Forsyth. We went on a Tuesday night (happy hour 5-9pm: $3 craft beers and $5 glasses of wine!) and they were having an open mic music and poetry night. There was some really good talent and we really enjoyed it. Service was great. We didn't try any of the food unfortunately and the craft beer selection was pretty small, but overall a nice place. read more

Yay! There ARE vegetarians in Savannah! And they make tasty sandwiches. I had a special panini called the Irish flag, I believe. Roasted sweet potato, greens, and goat cheese on focaccia. And a frozen blended mocha coffee. That I didn't enjoy as much. It was kind of watery and had huge chucks of ice in it. I would definitely come back and sample more stuff from their menu and bakery, though. read more

I love hanging out here. It's in a great location right by Forsyth Park, and it has a nice ambiance and vibe. Some of the people who work there can be a little pretentious and attitudey. The food is pretty good and very healthy. read more

A very low key vegan and vegetarian place that serves hot beverages, frozen beverages, smoothies, juices, desserts, pastries, salads, tacos, and more. The ingredients of our salads and tacos went together perfectly, providing a delicious meal. The cost was very reasonable for the quality and quantity. Service was very good. It's not a flashy or fancy place, the decor is very subdued and unpretentious, tables and chairs are plain and old, but the food makes you forget your surroundings! read more

Great lunch spot. Interesting wholesome food, el fresco dining out front and back. We had 4 meals and drinks for under $30. The strawberry and peach smoothie was icy refreshing and not too sweet which I really liked. I ate a quesadilla which was wholemeal with a delish salsa. It was super tasty. A must-see coffee shop next to Forsythe Park. I visit Savannah once a year and this is the one place I make sure I always go to. Great food of sandwiches, soups, and pastries always made fresh and with creative ingredients. Veggie friendly. Had the humus tacos off of the gluten free section of the menu. They were delicious and filling. Accompanied with one of their flavored iced tea's (which I didn't really care for). It has a very artistic relaxed atmosphere. An ideal place to do some pleasure reading, but I wouldn't attempt to do any kind of studying or scholarly reading- it's a bit to loud for that. It took them 20+ mins to bring out our food... we had to ask about the status of our food and then we got it a couple of minutes after that. Came in this morning for the first time. The weather was a little grey outside, but inside, this cafe was warm and cheerful (including the baristas). You can enjoy your morning tea, coffee, pastry, breakfast burrito, yogurt etc. in a variety of comfy lounge chairs or tables. And the coffee; so many types to choose from. You can choose a bean type from among the artisan roasts on the wall and ask the baristas to grind them up for you to take home. read more

Being new to a plant based diet, we were so happy to find a vegan breakfast place. We had the vegan breakfast burrito along with a cup of coffee with soy milk. Everything was great until my daughter and I used the bathroom. Fecal material all over the toilet seat and filthy walls. All the enjoyment of of our breakfast fled as I imagined how filthy the kitchen could be if it was cleaned as infrequently as the bathroom. read more
