Finally found a su yuk (soo yuk) spot in Irvine! It came with beef slices, tendons, and cartilages. We ordered this for 2 people, but it can definitely feed 3. We've only had su yuk a handful of times, but this is the first time we've had it served with less broth. We've only gotten it in more of a soup style. Regardless, the flavors were still good - beef was tender and tendons were well cooked, not tough like it usually is sometimes. I do prefer if it had more broth in a soup style, so will have to keep searching for a su yuk place in OC. Side dishes included various kimchi dishes and fish cake. The su yuk came with sauce, similar to the one you get for galbi tang and a yellow horseradish sauce! Perfect to go with the meats. I got take out from here for lunch after a friend recommended their spicy cold noodles. It's a small dainty hole in the wall place with very limited seating and limited parking. I called and placed an order for the spicy cold noodle dish and it was going to take 20 minutes. The spicy cold noodles came with buckwheat noodles, half of a hard boiled egg, cucumber slices, and pickled radish. They also gave vinegar, hot mustard, and pickled radish on the side as well. Seoul Haus was one of our top choices for Korean cuisine due to its proximity to our home, its menu offerings and affordability. I almost always order the Sul Long Tang + Mandu combo and my wife opts for the Galbi-tang. Neither has disappointed, but I will say that we have been quite thirsty after the meal which leads us to believe they use quite a bit of sodium or MSG in their cooking. The restaurant now offers 2 tables outside, so we chose to sit at one of them...BAD decision! After our food was dropped off, the two servers completely forgot about us. We wanted to ask for a refill on banchan but they never came around, not even once! I had to literally walk inside and wait in line for an open opportunity to ask for it. As if that wasn't bad enough, the server actually glared at us when she dropped off our requested items. There's no issue with parking for this non-descript place with really good food. The service was very "Asian" but good in that respect. The setting is relaxed and clearly more about good food. They have a wide variety of soups and some other traditional dishes. I always get spicy pork bulgogi when I eat Korean and was not disappointed. There was plenty of great food to fill me up. Spicy pork belly: delicious. fatty but meaty at the same time. not that spicy though. i would get this again. Cold Noodle Soup: had a lot of flavor even though it looked light. refreshing. noodles are very soft. My favorite spot for sul long tang and mandu guk. I love their garlic sul long tang especially, so aromatic! This is a quaint hole in the wall that's frequently visited by the lovely ahjummas and ahjussis who's been in Irvine for a while. I see a lot of people also ordering their combos (cheaper during lunch but only by $1-3 dollars). The usual combo is bulgogi/spicy stir fried pork with sul long tan/ naengmyeon. The ahjummas here are way nicer than the ones at Yigah and will happily refill your banchans. The only downside is that I think their banchans are quite lack luster. If they had a better spread or better quality because quantity is lacking, I'd bump this place up to a 5. read more

Craving some comfort food after a long day, I opted to take out a bowl of rice cake soup. In short, it was absolutely inedible. I don't know what soup they used as the base but it smelled odd and the taste was just horrible as if they added something they shouldn't have. It started salty, bitter and indescribably awful aftertaste. I tried three rice cakes and even tried soaking the rice cake in water but just couldn't get the horrible flavor out and had to dump it down the drain. It was an awful experience not to mention a complete waste of money. I tried calling to ask if I can get an explanation but the call kept getting disconnected. That being said, my food was delicious and the service was quick. I ordered the maeun galbi jjim and it came out in about 15 minutes. Overall, the meat was on point, the portions were fairly sized, sauce packed with flavor, and it was about what you'd expect of homely Korean food. Soup had no taste needed seasoning, the meat was super sweet and the fish cakes tasted fishy. Sent this to my baby girl due to her having a cold and she and I were very disapointed. It is probably now going to be my favorite local restaurant for Korean comfort food (especially after Kaya closed down) The mul-naengmyum was perfectly chewy, cool, and refreshing! The bulgogi that came with my combo came sizzling hot and was one large strip of tender, melt in your mouth, quality beef. It wasn't the thin sliced bulgogi that I thought it would be. It was better. They gave us scissors to cut the long strip into smaller pieces. Excellent. The husband ordered the Ox Bone Soup (milky white broth) with tendons that he loves. I didn't taste it, but it looked legit and the way he devoured every last drop, I could see that he really enjoyed it. My friends wanted to eat at this spot and swore it was delicious and that it was. On a cold night this soup was perfection. The broth wasn't too heavy and the flavor was spot on. I ordered the #8 Galbi Tang per my friends recommendations. Parking was easy. The only thing I wish they had were pictures of some of their dishes on their menu because I had to rely on Yelp as to how the food would be. I was not disappointed with my friends recommendations. Hey so, your server sucks. I empathize with the other reviewers who spoke out about a particular short haired korean server. Management needs to do better since this is unacceptable etiquette for a place like Irvine. I ordered my order togo, like I usually do. And every time I'm greeted by the same rude server who doesn't speak a single word to me, rather she just taps on the food like she's indicating 'here'. No hello, or thank you. She can use her words to inform customers their food. You know, the typical business practice in hospitality. My experience was not nearly as bad as some of the previous reviewers have stated. Still, this is absolutely bottom tier etiquette. But since I'm sure she's way above that, there's no reason to be courteous to her patrons. Our go-to's are their sullungtung, kimchichigae (THE BESTTTT!!), and beef bibimbap. My daughter and I came here on a weekday for a late lunch. The place was bare, just the way we liked it. There was only one table occupied besides ours. We were greeted by a nice middle-aged lady. She was very friendly, and polite. A soon as we placed our order, she immediately served the banchans. I really like that they had my favorite fishcake. She also served us a jar of flavored water. I thought it was iced tea at first, but it didn't taste like one. It had a light sesame flavor to it. Nonetheless, it was refreshing. My daughter always order COLD NOODLES at every Korean restaurant we go to. So, she got one here. I usually don't like the other cold noodles she had gotten in the past, but the one she ordered here was good. I still couldn't get myself to slurp the cold soup though. I just prefer hot soup and noodles. But she loved it! According to her, it's one of the best she's had. She also ordered their PORK BELLY BULGOGI. I tasted it, and it's another one of her favorites that I would rather skip. She said it was very tasty and delicious, and she finished every bit of it. I ordered their BRAISED SPICY BEEF RIBS ($25.99 Half) and requested it super spicy. It came with 2 small beef ribs, and 1 medium sized one. I love that it was so spicy! Not "tears-on-your-eyes-spicy", but it kept me drinking the flavored water after each bite. Although I enjoyed eating it, I wished it was a lot less sweet. My daughter and I also shared the OCTOPUS FRIED RICE. I originally told her not to order it 'coz we already had enough food to share between the two of us. But somehow, she managed to sneak it in with our order. However, upon tasting it, I was so thankful that she got it 'coz it was the best out of everything we ordered. It was so good! Ate here a lot when I was in the area for school. Visited this last weekend after 8-9 years and the garlic seolleongtang is just how I remember. Kimchi was to my preference and they had one of my fav banchan (the one with squid, loveeee eating it with rice). So good! I really enjoyed the cold noodle soup, tangy and sweet, great texture. The food: noodles were great, I thought the bulgogi was just ok (a bit too marinated and texture like ham. Service/ambiance: the tables are very close together here and it was awkward sitting so close to others and having to listen to each other's convos. Also with COVID, I felt uncomfortable personally. I honestly don't think this is up to fire code, I could barely get by some tables when trying to enter and exit the restaurant. The menu doesn't have a pictures and the English descriptions are not very helpful for non-Korean readers.
