I got to this location with a friend on a Friday night at around 6:10pm to an empty restaurant that brought a good number of people the longer we stayed. Seriously, it's only because it's dinnertime right? Parking lot here is small but manageable when finding a spot. The place itself is close to Hui Lau Shan and Lee's Kitchen in the Redmond area. Inside has tons of tables for groups of 2 to 4, and feels calm with the not-too-bright lighting inside and calm music playing. I got seated with my friend pretty much immediately and ordered using their menus. Our server was helpful in answering some questions we had on their soon doo boo (soft tofu soup), which we each got. I got their beef soft tofu soup, and my friend got the pork one. Both come with onions and zucchini in a soup base, and we each requested 3-star spice out of 5. A raw egg is cracked in just before serving unless you ask otherwise like my friend did, and there is purple rice served on the side. This was a nice spicy, somewhat thick and silky and richly flavored soup base that kept boiling as I ate. Banchan was also really good and refilled a couple times in a timely manner. I am so puzzled why this spot isn't rated higher on yelp but given how packed it was on a Friday night perhaps that is a good thing :). The service is always exemplary--I don't know how Beau (the sole person serving and running the front of the house) is able to balance everything and have such a sharp memory on our orders (he doesn't write things down but doesn't make mistakes) and our names (we tend to get take out but he sweetly remembers both my husband and mine). The banchan (love the kimchee, cucumber, potato, tofu/fish) are always so good and he is kind to bring more of when you finish. We always get a seafood pancake along with the cauldrons of tofu soup. Although we love take out--it is much more enjoyable eating it in the restaurant.... And the barley tea in the beginning is so flavorful as well. Really good, authentic sit-down Korean food in Bellevue for good value. There are a ton of different Chinese/Taiwanese/Indian restaurants in this area, but not so much Korean, so finding a good one is important. Seoul Hot Pot is my daughter/SIL's favorite Korean restaurant in the area and it happens to be close to their apartment (close enough to walk, but took car since it was a frosty cold night). Three of us came here for dinner on a Friday. We didn't need a reservation, and were seated right away, provided menus right away. There are some tables with built in grills (for traditional KBBQ), but don't think they are used anymore (no ventilation that I could see). Warm barley tea was served along with water. It was my last night in Bellevue, so wanted comforting soup that we could all share. Seoul Hot Pot serves a large selection of traditional dishes, not specializing in just hot pot, in spite of the name. I got a bottle of Korean rice wine (makgeolli for $10), which came in the traditional tea kettle and drunk from metal rice bowls. Gave a little toast, thanking my hosts for their hospitality. Our two soup dishes came, and we felt both were well done, with good portions. Sul Long Tang (Beef bone soup $17.99) - a traditional collagen infused beef soup, it was a winter special with limited quantity. This version is served with sliced brisket, and had that milky, cloudy color of bone broth. Ham and sausage Hot Pot ($38.99 + $3 for American Cheese slices) -meant for two, the precooked ingredients are brought to the table with a burner, and you are allowed to keep it cooking/warming as you eat it. I know this dish as Army Stew (Budae Jjigae), where a variety of ingredients easily available from American army bases, were used to make a shareable stew. The stew base is similar to kimchi jjigae, and you put a lot of pork products topped off with one packet of cheap ramen instant noodle. It is the dish with the most processed food dish that you can make, but it's comforting and was fun to share it with my daughter. (It's lost its appeal with the newer generation, but it's popularity will come back someday). They use good quality sausage, and it was good enough to bring back when we couldn't finish. The trick is to try to finish the dish before the ramen noodles becomes too gummy...didn't quite make it, but it was fun trying...plus it is nice heating stew that is as temperature hot (or hotter) in the last bite than the first. The dishes came with one bowl of purple rice each, and five refillable banchans, all of which were good. I especially liked the little sausage egg appetizers (buchim), which is usually too costly to have as banchan, but here it was offered (and was generous enough to give another serving when asked). Service interaction was good throughout, and my SIL gave a generous tip (good way to split the cost between us). Payment via credit card was standard, and we were on our way into the cold, Seattle night. But the warm stew definitely helped the bite. I've been going here for years. Their Fried chicken (spicy) is amazing. It's such a big portion and I eat the whole thing. The other thing I love is the spicy pork. The chef there is this power house granny lady and these must be her old family recipes as they're so good. This place deserves way more customers and a much better rating on Yelp. Great service but I admit I was the only customer. I ordered the kimchi tofu stew with beef and kalbi combo. First I'll start with the rice. Purple rice at no extra cost. Amaze balls! This combo at jang soo tofu down the road is almost $50 bucks so it's a cheaper option as well. They gave me an egg to crack in my stew which is traditional. The kalbi came out sizzling hot on a bed of onions which I love to pick at. As I'm going to visit S. Korea, I wanted to sample cuisine before traveling there. The server (owner?) was extremely helpful with food suggestions and with suggesting dishes to our needs. We had seafood pancakes, chicken bibimbap and a tofu soup. All the food was excellent, well cooked and flavorful. He checked on us frequently and we had a great conversation about food to check out while in S. Korea. Seoul Hot Pot was a great find to sample the cuisine. Hidden gem tucked away in between Bellevue and redmond, this is my favorite Korean spot in the area. The music is always good vibes and the food is by far the best in the area in my opinion. Classic Korean dishes and so many varieties of soups not just tofu, my favorite is the dumpling soup. Seasoned perfection every time. I would say if you're craving Korean food, eating here would scratch that itch, but I don't know that I would recommend this to anyone. This does seemed to be a decently established restaurant in that the tables tend to be full, but a line never really formed at least while I was there. Bossam (3/5): This was very okay. I found myself wishing that the pork was fattier, cut differently, and more flavorful on its own. Maybe skip this for another protein. Kimchi Stew and Short Rib Combo (3.75/5): I actually thought the short rib was fairly decent and would have been a 4 on its own. More satisfying and filling than you might expect, it has a well seasoned broth, some zucchini, beef, clams, and one shrimp. I moved here from LA 5 months ago, and this is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the Bellevue / Redmond area. There's only one server but he's great, and the food is all around delicious. I've had the soondubu, bossam, and the bibimbap, and all were solid to great. The prices are decent, especially for the soondubu, and I've only had a good time here. I've eaten here 4x now, and the only not-great experience I've had was entirely my fault. It was my birthday, and I got too excited by the warm bossam and was chewing without abandon, resulting in my tragically biting myself. There are many menu choices, although all of it tastes extremely good. You should definitely go there! Pretty good korean food to be honest. Pleasantly surprised since I had a somewhat lowered expectation from the current 3.5 stars. It's located at the overlake plaza, so plenty of parking. We got there around 6:30 and parked at a Seoul Hot Pot reserved spot right out front. There were maybe five or so other tables already seated, but plenty of empty tables so we got seated pretty quickly. When we left at around 7:30, there was a small line waiting to get seated. We ordered the Seafood Green Onion Pancake, Assorted Soft Tofu Soup, and Bi Bim Stone Hot Pot. Everything was very good. The complimentary side dishes came out with the tofu soup and stone hot pot and was delicious as well. Definitely was a bit longer wait for the food to come out, but manageable. Music was a bit loud though. Like many of the other reviews said, there is only one server. A lot of the lower starred reviews are given due to the service. While I understand where they are coming from, I honestly though the waiter was just trying to be efficient since he had to service fifteen or so tables all by himself, and he manages that very well. If he spents too much time on one table, fourteen other tables will have to wait much longer to get what they need. I don't think the waiter is rude, I thought he was trying to be as efficient as possible, and he did a good job at it. If anything, it's the fault of the restaurant owner for not hiring enough staff. All of their 6? banchan were delicious, and if I had more time I would've taken advantage of their free banchan refill. I got a tofu soup at level 1 spicy: I appreciate that they made it as mild as they did, although I should probably order a spicier level for myself next time. The broth was incredibly savory and delicious! My brother got the classic bibimbap, and it was sizzling like crazy. The flavors of that were also quite excellent. I'm new to the area so I'm really happy to have found a reliable Korean restaurant to eat at. I'm definitely coming back to try some of their army stews. :D read more

Also all the side dishes that they bring out with your order is super yummy! We really enjoy everything here. We've probably tried a lot of stuff on their menu but our go to dishes are: Soondobu -- you can ask them to make it EXTRA EXTRA spicy if that's what you like, and honestly its the spiciest soft tofu soup I've had but in a very good way! Galbitang -- always great when you are craving something flavorful and soupy! Kimchi pancake -- it's big portion, crispy and delicious! Fried chicken -- we get the half and half and the chicken is so crispy and tasty!! Budaejigae -- their soup is so goooood and it's a little different than some other ones we've had at other restaurant because of their "special" sauce they add ;) It's important to support small local businesses and if you can, go order take out from them especially right now with everything going on. The server was great and very nice/helpful, but the food was actually some of the worst I've ever had. The sides were fine, except the potato salad was unevenly salted and there was a clump of unmixed salt at the very bottom of the plate. The menu was very descriptive and helpful for people who might not be familiar with asian food, but that's about it for the positives at this place. We ordered the seafood pancake, and two hot pots (Kimchi Dumpling, and Seafood). The seafood pancake was tasty, although it was different than what I was used to because it was really doughy and thick, and super oily. Meanwhile the hotpots were some of the most bland soups I've ever had, and for a restaurant with Hot Pot in its name, we expected atleast some seasoning in the soups. It was actually the worst soup I've ever had in my life. It's like they didn't add any salt to either hot pot. We couldn't even finish the seafood hotpot because it tasted so bland. It was like unseasoned octopus boiled in plain water (because it basically was). The kimchi dumpling hot pot was also extremely watered down, not spicy at all, and slightly sour from the kimchi. We love kimchi but it really tasted like they just added kimchi and water to a pot, without any pepper, salt, even gochujang. The hot pots arrived with the food partially cooked, but I don't even know how they messed up adding noodles and dumplings to the soup, because they were overcooked and lost all their texture. The noodles weren't stirred while cooking so there were giant clumps of overcooked noodles breaking up into lumps of dough. The dumplings were also doughy and overcooked. If I were cooking this myself from scratch, I'd blame myself for overcooking this, but they arrived already overcooked. You can tell that they probably were understaffed, and were unable to taste test their food, because they probably left the hot pot cooking for way too long, causing everything to be mushy and tasteless when it came. edit: it seems like the place is family run and the mom is in the kitchen which makes me feel more empathetic knowing there is only one person juggling everything, but I think they just need to take their time with the food and taste it for seasoning, without rushing it out to the customer before it is ready. read more

We tried out their weekly meal kits and it was A-OK! The home kits are more homey (or what I envision a Korean home's normal food would taste like). We did wish it came with more banchan in the kit (like at the restaurants though or at least standard kimchi). The owner's son was very good about explaining how to eat everything or what to freeze if you can't get to eating it right away which I appreciated since I'm not fully versed in Korean home food. As a Korean, I would say this place makes authentic and tasty Korean food. This is probably my new go to Korean place since Southgate Garden closed. I would say this place, the third place, and stone Korean win out on taste. But this place wins out on price. Originally I had tried out this place a year or so again and remember it was awful. I recently tried this place again for takeout and delivery. I would have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The soondubu tasted great this time, I remember last time I had it a year ago, it tasted super watered down. Personally I'm not a fan of zucchini in soondubu but I like it here. I also tried the seafood pancake here and that was also super crispy and tasty as well. I liked that they put it in a pizza box and gave more than enough dipping sauce. The banchan was also good too. Like most of the other reviewers, my complaints come with the service and not the actual quality of food. The food is decent but with only one server it does really suck that he barely pays attention to your table and doesn't fill up water, check on the table, etc, which funny enough, I came in on a slow day. I'm not sure why they call it Seoul Hot Pot, because the restaurant interior is not set up like most hot pot places and the menu itself only has 1/8 pages of actual hot pot dishes. It's pretty much a standard-issue Korean restaurant with the option of hot pot. My friend and I ordered the tofu soup. The tofu soup was good, nice flavor in the broth and I'm glad they had the option of adding a raw egg. The banchan was alright, I wish they had more variety in side dishes than the usual pickled veg. I would like to give this restaurant 0/5 stars if I could for both the food and the service. I ordered three dishes (1 house bibimbop, 1 yukgaejang, and 1 mackerel). The food quality for all three items were below average. I had a bad incident with the owner. When I kindly asked the owner for a remake for the burnt fish they burnt, the owner responded passive aggressively "it looked fine to me" and proceeded to walks away from me. The owner proceeded to call my family and I a "piece of shit" because we weren't satisfied with the burnt fish. With the covid pandemic going on, covid guidelines weren't strictly enforced. The owner's mother, who is the cook, did not comply with the WA health department rules and wear a mask. During my entire stay there, I observed the owner's mother fixing her hair and then cooking. The owner's mother didn't once wash her hands after touching her hair. Instead, she proceeded to continue to cook. The owner was handling cash and touching / serving food with his unsanitary hands. The owner did not comply with the 25% capacity rule for indoor dining during phase 3. The tables, chairs, and utensils were not sanitized throughly. I found old rice marks left in my spoon which left me with an uncomfortable and weary feeling. Overall, my visit at this restaurant was horrific, unpleasant, and unprofessional. The owner stated in a private message via instagram how he solely based my in store restaurant experience based on past experience when my husband would come in. First, I would like to clarify that my husband gave a $1 tip his first visit because he was not satisfied with the service. My husband was not satisfied with the service because the owner purposely gave slow service numerous times, the owner was not welcoming, and the owner cursed loudly about customers. The owner is very arrogant and greedy as he stated in a private message via instagram that tips should roughly be "25-90% from the total check. And, the owner makes it seem like tips are an obligation, however, tips are based on the service. Quite frankly, the service every time my husband came to visit and when I came was horrific which is the reason why my husband gave a $1 tip for his 1 food item dish order. In addition, the service is the worst because the owner purposely kept my family and I waiting for around 24 minutes to take our order. The owner served my family and I food once then never came back to see how everything was doing, if we needed anything and etc. The owner responded to a private message via instagram how he intentionally didn't give my family and I good service. Coming from a customer perspective, no restaurant should intentionally give their customer no service. In my truthfully opinion, this restaurant is the worst and you should go elsewhere for real authentic korean food. I've eaten here 7-8 times and have been satisfied every time, and I introduced my friends to this restaurant as well! In my experiences here, the server has been very efficient and quite nice--he helped suggest entrees for me to try based on food I generally like to eat (kimchi stew). The soft tofu soup is their most popular, though the kimchi stew is also very good. The pancake is great--not too oily and very flavorful! The fish cake banchan is my favorite, but it tends to be a little lacking in the initial round of side dishes. Seafood soondubu has a very strong seafood flavor compared to other seafood soondubu I've tried, but I like it! My favorite is kimchi pork soondubu. I brought a few coworkers in for lunch here a few weeks back. My Korean coworker really enjoyed the meal (ordered ddukbokki, rice cakes appetizer)! I have been getting the weekly meal plans from this restaurant and I love how they come up with different menus each week. That's hard for lots of places to do, some places just repeat the same dishes every 2-3 weeks. Not only that, each dish has a creative spin to it. One of the dishes I got last week was the steamed egg. Not the average steamed egg (gyeran-jjim), but steamed egg with tobiko using a kind of japanese broth. It had a different flavor and texture. My husband and I really enjoyed it. I also love how they also provide a little dessert. Last week was Tteok Ggo chi, a common Korean street food, deep fried rice cakes on a stick marinated in a sticky spicy and sweet sauce. It totally brought back that nostalgia of standing in front of a food stall in the middle of Korean winter keeping an eye out for the bus to get home. We've really been enjoying their meals and they have been tremendous help during the pandemic. Will give 0 star if I can. Nothing related to the food because I didn't have any. I ordered take out through a third party app (hungry panda), and arrived in the store 30minutes after. I was told that the food is not ready and it needs another hour. I waited in my car for an hour and went back in. I was then told it needs at least another hour or 90 minutes. This is ridiculous and I asked them to cancel the order. They told me they can't and asked me to do it myself. Their attitude was terrible during the whole process. No smile, no apology, no explanation. Just to be clear, I controlled my temper the whole time and didn't show anger. But they showed cold face to me the whole time even after I waited for an hour. Worst experience ever in my life. Don't come to this store unless you want your day ruined. read more
