    Honey Garlic Chicken
    Michelle T.

Are there places where you always order the same items every time you go? At The Third Place, I always order Honey Garlic Chicken (Korean Fried Chicken) and Creamy Rice Cake (Tteokbokki). This is my favorite place to get Korean Fried Chicken, specifically the Honey Garlic Chicken. The chicken is always fried to perfection and maintains its crispness even while it's covered with sauce and surviving the drive home (takeout). Honey Garlic is my favorite flavor, but Yangnum is good as well. The Creamy Rice Cake is not your typical spicy, red Teokkbokki (although they do also have that). It's like they put rice cake in alfredo sauce with slices of fish cake and onions. The texture of the rice cake is superb! So tender and chewy. I order takeout via their website and food has always been ready by the specified time. There are street parking and lots available, but at times can be a pain to find an available spot.

Partner and I have been craving some Korean fried chicken and spicy rice cakes and decided to try The Third Place. We were pleasantly surprised! The service was good and despite a little hiccup, they addressed the issue right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Interior was clean and noise level wasn't too loud neither.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Korean fried chicken was great! I'm not sure if they use a rice flour or something a little different but it was lightly buttered and crunchy! We got Original and a Honey flavor and both were delicious. The spicy rice cakes were good too. I believe every place has their own "style" and we liked it here. Not too spicy and a good amount of rice cakes and other ingredients.

I've ordered out before. But finally went in to dine. Service was a little slow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was kind of funny to see k drama playing on the tv.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love the BanChan with crispy chicken, chefs kiss. Like how do they make the chicken so crispy. It's so delicious.

I had a really fantastic time at the Third Place a couple years ago and decided to pull up once again for some Korean fried chicken on a Friday night at around 7:30 PM. It's located in downtown Redmond, so parking can be a tad difficult, but there's a small lot on the other side of the Half Price Book that is free. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Contrary to my last visit where the restaurant had a line out the door, it was almost completely empty this time around and that was the first red flag.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My overall impression was nothing tasted quite as it should have and everything was just subpar, not sure that I'll ever be back. Cheese Spicy Rice Cakes (2/5): The rice cakes themselves felt like they were undercooked - they had zero chew and just broke apart when you bit into it. The sauce was really odd: thin, not sweet enough, oddly fishy, and didn't taste like gochujang at all. Would not get this again. Sweet Potato Fries (3/5): The most mid sweet potato fries ever. Needed some more crunch crunch and could do with a little more salt. Yangnyum Fried Chicken (2.75/5): The chicken itself came out super fresh and wasn't too dry. However, once again, the sauce was all wrong. No gochujang flavor again and was super watery, so it just completely sogged up the crunch on the chicken. It felt like eating soggy fried chicken that was spicy, but also had no flavor.

After looking for a Korean restaurant that had good reviews with both cheesy corn and rice cakes, we came across The Third Place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant can be easily missed, as it's nestled in a plaza and the signage isn't the best.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We walked in around 1pm, and there was only one other table of customers so we were seated immediately. We ordered cheesy corn, spicy rice cakes, the spicy pork lunch box and beef bulgogi lunch box. The two lunch boxes had a variety of different items from broccoli, kimchi, macaroni salad, glass noodle salad, potatoes, a piece of dumpling, a couple orange chicken and a chicken wing in addition to the main dish with rice (all for $18.99), which isn't bad price wise as it was enough for two people or two meals. The corn was extremely disappointing, as the corn was warm and the cheese wasn't melted just a glob of cheese, especially dine it was $12, not worth it in my opinion. The spicy cheesy rice cakes were also disappointing, the texture of the rice cakes were good but it was far from spicy and again the cheese wasn't melted, just a glob. The pictures for both are deceiving. Overall, glad we gave it a try but with the plethora of other Korean restaurants I wouldn't come back here.

Kimchi Stew, with banchan ... excellent..!

The trouble with business travels is sitting in your hotel room researching dinner ideas, nearby restaurants... I decided that tonight I just needed something a little spicy, something tasty, and not too distant from my hotel. Tonight I chose "The Third Place", a small family owned and operated Korean restaurant. I'm glad I did...!!! I ordered the Kimchi Stew, it arrived quickly, boiling hot...and goodness, it was fabulous. Just the right amount of spice, and full of flavor. Also, in traditional Korean fashion, banchan is also served. Banchan comes in many styles and varieties, this serving was pickled vegetables. Yummy...!!! I've not been to this restaurant before, but the service was spot on, the food remarkable, and the costs agreed with my pocket book. I most certainly will return...I hope to see you there.

Great place in Renton to meet up with friends for Korean dishes, especially fried chicken! We usually get the original fried chicken wings and a couple of appetizers to share. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant isn't too big so there might be a wait depending on when you get there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is usually street parking nearby since it's located in a shopping center.

Spicy Seafood Stir-Fried Udon, it was ok.

We decided to try a new Korean place besides Mama's Kitchen in Factoria. This place has good reviews, and I think the good reviews are mainly for the fried chicken. We ordered Tofu soup, spicy seafood udon, and honey garlic fried chicken. The tofu soup didn't taste like typical Korean tofu soup, I would still go back to Mama's Kitchen for it. The spicy seafood udon was ok, not too good not too bad. We loved the honey garlic fried chicken the best! The chicken was flavorful, crispy, and not too salty nor too oily. Next time, we plan to try the original friend chicken.

Tteokboki mad does not taste right. The cheese also is crusted over it and not mixed into it. The fries are soggy and not in a good way.

My go to spot for great korean fried chicken and creamy seafood udon. Third time here and it continues to be consistently good. The chicken is large, juicy, crispy, and full of flavor. I've tried most of the flavors - our favorite is probably the honey garlic. But my favorite dish of all time is the creamy udon with seafood. Sooo good and the perfect pairing with the fried chicken! It's great to also bring home as leftovers and heat up and add more to it. We've also tried their sister restaurant Underground Kitchen in Federal Way which also had awesome korean fried chicken.

Half and half chicken wings, corn cheese, tofu soup, spicy rice cake

Saucy and spicy wings, 15 wings for $23, call button for service is such a nice feature.

The fried chicken here is delicious. I got the half and half regular and mild/spicy fried chicken. It was fried perfectly, was surprisingly pretty crispy even after eating it 20 to 30 minutes later- I am sure it would be glorious if eaten right away , generous portions, and the flavor was great. I got a three out of five spice level and it wasn't spicy at all for me but still very tasty. Would definitely return to try more things

Where is parking for this place?

the parking space is limited in front of the restaurant. However, you can also park on Gillman street and walk thru the alley.

Any Korean chicken that is large pieces, like drumstick and thigh, and not wings? Not a fan of wings.

I do not think so. (You can try to ask them)

Bon is located in the same plaza as H-Mart and so they have a shared parking lot or you could walk over from Redmond Town Center which is just a block away. The inside is surprisingly large with at least twenty tables, which is bigger than most Korean restaurants that I've seen on the Eastside. At 11:45am on a Saturday, my group of three had no problem getting a table. Their menu is extensive and has all the Korean food classics including seafood pancake, soondubu (stone pot tofu soup), galbi jjim (beef stew), Toppokki, bibimbap, and cold noodles (spicy and non-spicy versions). Their entrees are around $20 each, but some larger hot pot dishes (meant for 2-3 people) can be up to $70. I ordered the BULGOGI BIBIMBAP (~$24). Unfortunately they don't serve stone pot Bibimbap here, but the portions are large and beautifully presented. My dish came with plenty of fresh vegetables- pickled carrots and cucumbers, sesame bean sprouts, daikon kimchi, lettuce, and marinated black mushrooms (which I've never had in Bibimbap before but was soooo good) on top a bed of fluffy white rice! The egg was cooked perfectly over easy and the meat was marinated well too- I do wish the dish came with more meat though. They give you your typical sweet and spicy gochujang red sauce on the side as well as white vinegar and mustard sauce for added flavor. Service was fantastic and you get complimentary hot tea and ban chan (which are refillable). The ban chan included cucumber kimchi, daikon kimchi, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, fish cake, and sesame choy. All employees were very friendly and made you feel at home. The inside is clean, but the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is that they have an Okay health rating and not a Good or Excellent health rating. I didn't look up the exact violations, but it would be great to see an improvement in score. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere

These folks probably need another great review like Elon Musk needs an increase in his allowance,…read morebut fairness demands that I not keep silent regarding my enjoyment of this restaurant: THE ROSES: Ample dedicated parking. The staff is gracious, prompt, professional, and - I hope no one objects when I say this - rather attractive. Generous portions and reasonable prices for what you're getting. The food is nothing sort of legendary - bold flavors and dishes have the perfect balance of sweet, heat, savory, and umami. THE THORNS: None significant enough to mention. NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: It is important to note that this place is insanely popular with the area's Korean community. The restaurant is quite busy Thursday thru Sunday, and significant waits for a table are likely. Monday thru Wednesday is your best time for going and getting a table without a wait. The price of some dishes, like their signature offering, Kalbijjim, might give you a pause ($80+). It is important to keep in mind this is made to order, and one serving can easily serve four regular appetites. If you're just a couple, you're definitely going to be taking this home with you. This is not a bad thing, as Kalbijjim is one of those dishes that is even better the next day and doesn't suffer from reheating. THE VERDICT: Daeho Kalbijjim is extremely popular, and it's not hard to see why. The execute authentic Korean cuisine pretty much flawlessly with efficient and charming service. What else to you want in a restaurant? Highly recommend. Just try not to go on the busy days.

The first time I visited, the quality of the meat cuts didn't impress me, and the soups lacked depth of flavor. I'm not talking about needing more salt--the broth itself just tasted flat. When you're paying close to $30 for a bowl of soup, I think it's reasonable to expect a higher level of quality and care to ingredients. The second visit was a mixed experience. To be fair, I was in the wrong. There is a clearly posted policy stating that your entire party must be present before being seated. My group was about seven minutes away, and since I had already checked in on Yelp and there were only two parties ahead of me with no one physically waiting, I asked if I could be seated and order while I waited. I had already been standing inside for about 10 minutes. I was told that although tables were available, seating me ahead of the other parties on the waitlist would be unfair. I understood the reasoning, but she had also asked prior for my order. Her explanation left me confused so i sheepishly said I understood the policy. She already seemed upset by the time i had gotten there. Sometimes we have off days i get that. This place is clearly hit or miss, I've got friends who absolutely swear by it. For me, though, it wasn't anything special and didn't justify the price. If you're looking for Korean food in the area, I've had better experiences with higher-quality dishes elsewhere, especially in Lynnwood.
