Seems the customer service gets worse and worse at this location. Management is just as useless as regular employees. I've lived in this area for many years and have finally had my breaking point. Sadly I will start looking for a Sephora that actually provides customers with good service. I'm a rouge member and was treated as if I wasn't a loyal customer who spends a good amount of money at their store every year. I couldn't even have the representative try the foundation, concealer, and powder on me so I would know how it looked before making the expense. I had to wait a bit for an employee to actually be available; for a mall location on a Friday, I feel they may have been slightly understaffed? That said, when I did get help, it was fantastic! I'm new to makeup and was looking to figure out what eye shadows I should be using, as far as color, texture, etc. The employee who helped me was absolutely amazing; she explained well what she was using and why, and what it was doing to my eyes' appearance. Looked on Yelp and it said they opened at 10. Stood in the front with 2 other customers while 3 employees went in and saw us standing there and said NOTHING to us when they didn't even open until 11, SO rude and terrible customer service. Tried calling the number and the automation said they opened at 12. No hours sign on the door. Your customers are confused! And you lost 3 of them that were standing there for over 10 min. read more

It's okay. You go in and may get asked to move by other customers or workers because the aisle are tight and the plus side is that dogs are allowed in the store! So, I'm just a guy reviewing Sephora... it probably doesn't mean much, but here's my take on this location. It is probably the least favorite of the 4 or 5 (Arcadia, Costa Mesa, Pasadena, Brea) that I've been to. It feels small and everything feels so cramped in here. It just felt like things were just all over the place. Some sections were disorganized and it wasn't what I was used to seeing in a Sephora store. The staff was extremely helpful since I was there to look for a birthday gift. So, I gotta give them props for that. This location does the job if you're in the area, but if you have the luxury of being near another location, then head on that way! read more

I am extremely disappointed with how my return is being handled by Sephora.com I used a product three times before deciding to return it. My return was denied because the Distribution Center "determined I used half of it". As a powder product, the jar was not filled up to the top upon initial receipt. If you are relying on mail order to try out any products, please pass. You might not be able to return them if they don't work out. If you have access to a store, you might have better luck working with a salesperson. I live nearly 2 hrs from the Rancho Cucamunga store. I really don't know what to do now. After stuffing myself with some BBQ at Lucille's the group opted to walk around to burn some calories and we ended up here. I love make-up and after stuffing my face and feeling oh so fatty, I guess it was my automatic response to want to buy things that will help make me feel pretty again. (Hopefully it works lol) So many to choose from, such little time and money! All of the staff were very friendly and willing to help me find what I need. This is probably the best sized Sephora. Not too big to overwhelm you and cause you to waste hours browsing (yes you can totally get lost in all the selections) but also not too small where you don't find the things you want. The staff is friendly and helpful, they don't approach you unless you look like you're looking for help which is the best kind of help, in my opinion. Nobody likes to be bothered all the time during intense shopping. I was here on a fairly busy Saturday and the line looked really scary but it moved along surprisingly quickly. read more

I have been a professional makeup artist for nearly twelve years, have worked at a competitive brand for over seven years, and have been in management for this brand for four years. It takes a lot for me to pay full price for beauty products as I get a huge discount on the brand I work for and other brands as well. The fact that I walked into Sephora (on 28 August 2015 around 1130a) with the intent of purchasing at least three items, but was treated with such a disregard helps me to remember why I rarely bother shopping there. First off, my friend (who is pushing a stroller) and I walked in and about three employees walked right past us, not even batting a lash in our direction. We were not dressed in gym clothes nor did we look like we rolled out of bed so I can't even use that as a sorry excuse for being ignored. Many other shoppers were greeted or acknowledged, some were even asked if they needed help. In the 30 - 40 minutes that we spent in the store, we were NEVER GREETED OR EVEN SMILED AT. To top it off, I grabbed us each a basket and we were putting product in there to purchase, we weren't just browsing and wasting time. My friend needed to exchange a foundation for a different color but we couldn't find the brand in the store; she checked the app and saw that the JCP Sephora had it so she decided to just return the foundation at the location we were at and we would walk to the other to grab the correct color. We got in line and when it was her turn, she got to the register and KAYLA E was unfortunately, the employee that she got stuck with. Kayla E decided not to even say "hello" and this is what happened : Friend : Hi, I wanted to return this foundation and grab these products instead. Kayla E : Was something wrong with it ? Friend : No, I actually love the formula but the color changed when I wore it so I wanted a different color but you don't carry the brand at this location so we were going to go to the one at JCP. Kayla E : Yeah, we do. Friend : Oh ! We looked for it and didn't find it, can you tell me where it is ? Kayla : Yeah, it's over there. (And she points across the store.) Seriously ? Not only was Kayla E rude but she wasn't helpful at all. So maybe she can't leave the register area to walk us in the right direction. Understandable. But why not grab one of the other employees standing around and ask them to show us where it's at ? We walked over to the brand while four employees LITERALLY stood there and watched us as I grabbed a sponge and started matching my friend to the foundation. Then, one of them finally asked if we needed help but at that point we were done matching the color. I'm not sure if they don't know how to color match foundation or what but what is the point of working at a makeup store when you can't (or don't want to) help people ? We walked back to the register and luckily, someone else was available to ring up. Kayla E was ready to help someone after a minute or two but I waited for the nicer employee to ring me up. I wish I could remember her name because she was very friendly but our entire experience was so bad that I forgot to get it. KAYLA E should have been sent home on the day my friend and I visited. She had such a sour look on her face whenever dealing with any customers but managed to smile and laugh with fellow employees. (Cast members, correct ?) Either she doesn't care about the attitude she gives off of her manager doesn't care but something needs to change. If I was her manager and I read this review, I would definitely be having a sit down with her. I am going to also forward this review to the corporate office because I am that appalled at how horrible this experience was. I bought $100 worth of product and one of the products I purchased ended up having a broken seal so I exchanged it at the Montclair location where they actually care about customer service. Even though we are makeup artists, I would have at least appreciated a simple, "hi, can I help you find anything ?" And it's not like the employees knew we were artists. They really need to have a meeting on how they are expected to treat customers. Now, I understand why so many customers come to us complaining about not only the makeup skills that Sephora has to offer but also the lack of customer service. As a manager, I know that sometimes, customers can embellish the truth on bad customer service experiences. I can truthfully say that everything I typed in this review is exactly what happened. Being in the retail world, I love to praise people when they do well and I am not afraid to be blunt about bad experiences. I have always loved this Sephora and always received great service. However today was a little unusual. I went in this morning to return a foundation and purchase another one. I was hovering in the Hourglass section and an employee asked if I needed help and I said " yes with color matching". She was with someone else and kindly said "I'll be right with you." I waited for about 10-15 min. And saw her in another section helping someone else. No big deal maybe she forgot or the other customer was before me. Totally understandable. So I decided to ditch my effort in finding another foundation and decided to do the return only. A gentleman greeted me at the counter and as soon as I said I have a return with no receipt his attitude changed and wasn't so nice. I purchased the item with my VIB card so I knew there would be a record that I bought it. He asks for my email, and since I have so many , I accidentally gave him the wrong one. He tells me "receipt not found ",condescendingly. I said "ok try this email", he says again, rudely and loud, "receipt not foud". I asked "what do you mean?" He repeats himself again and says "receipt not found." I purchased it with my VIB so I asked if he could look it up with my phone number since that's what I usually give them he says loudly and rudely " no it has to be email or I have to have my VIB card." I preceeded to look for my card and found it in my wallet. After that he didn't say a word, gave me my money and said thank you. After writing this it sounds that he wasn't being rude, but it wasn't so much what he said but how he said it. He was being so loud and I felt completely EMBARASSED that I almost wanted to cry. I am a Sephora girl all the way. It's my first stop and usually last for any high end product I need. This location is pretty decent for it being in a very popular mall. I don't tend to have many issues finding products and if I do the girls (and guys) are always helpful in finding a substitute or if I need it online I just grab it myself..I know how to navigate the website pretty well. I do take a couple stars away because when I do get someone to help me they are great but it's difficult to find someone to start to help me. And if you actually need real person help don't go in there on a weekend. At that point that's on you not them. It's a mall people..it's going to be busy on a weekend. Now receiving help leads me to my next problem..who they cater to. I understand that I am 21 and I could see how they would expect me not to buy a ton of expensive products so they don't want to waste their time with me but I feel a little ignored until I flash my pretty red card (Rouge member) then the whole store wants to help me. I understand taking care of your top members but you should take care of everyone to help them also become top members. It takes me flashing my card to get some extra help in what I need. Well this is my first time going to Sephora.. all I know is that before I came here I always called it Sephoria.. lol. But now I know.... duh.. Anyhow.. I love how they have so many different brands to choose from even thought they weren't as big as my fav store ULTA.. I needed help choosing a foundation and compact.. hoping to get Clinque.. but they didn't have my skin color match.. =/.. The sales girls were snobby.. its like I have to have fake ass tits to get noticed. I politely asked for helped and after 15 min's I finally got it. Some of the best service I've ever received. This team is dedicated and ready to assist all that walk into this establishment. I'm pretty picky and I can walk around Sephora for an hour before picking anything and I found that the staff was patient and courteous when answering all of my questions. These ladies Layla, Destiny, Andrea, Natalie, and Tania were the highlight of my shopping experience. I love this sephora! There are two locations closer to me but I enjoy going to this location because of how well organized and well maintained it is. The employees at this location are also very helpful and polite. I have noticed however (and this is most sephoras, not just this location) that the employees do not know their products as well as some of their customers do. I went to a HUGE sephora in NYC and the employees were very familiar with the products I inquired about. Still, the rancho sephora is my go-to spot for all things make-up! P.S. there is a very tall, blonde store director that is specially awesome! She taught me how to use my temptu properly. read more

I guess even at my age (mid 40s) you can learn something new from these youngsters. I am Not a fan of makeup. I only feel that way because I have absolutely no clue what /where/how to apply it on properly. I have a daughter that's a cosmetologist and what she's able to do in 5min , would take me a hour! I'm totally jealous of these beauty's, that can apply makeup & look gorgeous! Well today decided to walk in and ask for some assistance, and some positive Karma was on my side. I was approached by the sweetest young lady named SUMMER. Yes! Even her names adorable! Needles to say we discussed my issues with foundation and within a few minutes we found the perfect color for me. I plan on returning and making a appointment with SUMMER , for a full face consultation. I really felt comfortable with her techniques, and our communication was on the same page the whole time. When i go to ask for assistance on applying makeup, the first thing i do is look at their's and SUMMER'S , was flawless . She's definitely in the right field...Great people skills and knowledgeable. I like this location better than the one inside j c penny. Last time i went to the one inside Penny's, Lissette, couldn't stop chit chatting long enough to take my concerns. Sephora satisfies the "girlie-girl" in me.. I dont' wear too much make up.. but if you look at my make up bag.. you might think I do.. The place gets pretty crowded on the weekends.. everyone is trying on makeup.. wandering around.. the lines can get pretty long.. They do a great job of keeping the testers looking neat and inviting to use.. especially since they supply make up cleaner, alcohol, and a bunch of tissues and applicators.. The store is always neat and clean.. their staff is always really helpful and seem to really know their makeup and cleansers and moisturizers.. you can pretty much ask anyone in the store any question and they would definitely know how to help. read more

I had a really positive experience at this Sephora. I walked in and knew immediately that I was looking for a particular skincare product. I was able to clearly see where the skincare section was, and the brand were labeled clearly underneath the skincare marker as well. I was obviously a little lost as to what size product I should get as a first timer, and the manager (I believe), came over and greeted me, asking me if I needed any help. I told her about my dilemma and she made some recommendations, and even offered to help me get a customized skin profile. When I told her I didn't have enough time that day, she didn't pressure me. She told me she completely understood, told me about the Sephora return policy if I didn't get the size that I needed, and offered additional assistance. She was pleasant and friendly. I picked the size I needed, purchased my product, and was told that I had quite a few points on my Sephora card. The cashier took a minute to explain what I would be getting once I got to 100 points, thanked me, and wished me a nice day. Excellent customer service! read more

I went to the Sephora in Juan Carlos Penney. (No i didn't buy make up for myself) I bought some Blu_Ray by CARGO for my sister's Birthday (scouts honor). The service was amazing, right when I walked in I was greeted, most places don't do that now a days. I must have been there for a good 20 min. looking at stuff, not knowing what was what. Luckily the lady that was helping me (Her name was Alexis) showed me what she preferred and I was dumbfounded on her knowledge of the product. Me being a film major of course i went with the Blu_Ray (pun intended). As i was paying I ended up with a handful of cologne samples which made me smell like Sean Combs and James Franco with a lil bit of Lacoste. In terms of selection and quality of products, I love Sephora. I disagree about the employees being snobby, I actually find them to be overbearing yet helpful. I usually go when they're slower during the day, so maybe it's because they aren't busy, but seriously every time at least 4 employees ask if I need help finding anything! I get annoyed! I removed a star because of their excessive packaging and I cringe at the thought of all the wasted trees as I watch them wrap everything in tissue!!! I've been to this location a few times....the employees are lazy and only helpful when they see products in your basket. Also you can definitely tell they recommend products they have in stock as opposed to all the products that are not in stock. I waited for nearly an hour for help. I was not approached at all or asked if I wanted help. When I finally stopped someone, they said they had no idea about the Drunk Elephant products I was questioning and they just told me they would send someone else my way. I thought I would finally get the help I had been dying for...WRONG! A lady comes after another ten minutes and tells me that the current Drunk Elephant moisturizer I was using was "not enough". She lead me to another moisturizer and told me I couldn't expect for moisturizer to do everything. She then left me at the other product with no information and no time to answer any of my questions. Do not come to this location if you want QUALITY customer service. I am bothered...irked...and even worse, just plain disappointed. Although this location has a nice selection of brands and makeup, I am hesitant to ask for help from the employees. One time I asked one employee to match me with an Anastasia's eyebrow pencil.. And she proceeded to try it on me. When I looked into the mirror .. I was horrified. This girl is suppose to be good at doing makeup.. I mean I am not a makeup expert... But a simple eyebrow fill.... If you like to be customer serviced when your shopping for makeup this is not the place for you! What I love about this Sephora is that the associates greet you when you walk in. If you need help they will give you the great customer service that you need. The associates are knowledgable and give their honest opinion about products. Of all the local sephora stores I have been to (Santa Anita, Brea, West Covina, etc). This is probably one of the better ones. They keep a good stock of most of their items and the sales girls are friendly and do a great job of helping you find what you need. I like Sephora b/c of the no hassle returns and their makeup events. read more
