I love love love Sephora! I always find what I need and unfortunately, things I don't need but want to buy as well! This leaves me completely broke by the time I'm done here. The only thing I don't like at this location is the fact that it can get pretty busy and hot in here! Not a good combo when shopping and trying on products. The staff here are nice and knowledgeable, though I've encountered a few who I think have no idea what they're talking about. My quick tip is to research your products on the Sephora website and read the reviews before coming in. The reviews are face and money-saving because it's actual people who have tried the products and write their own personal experiences (kind of like yelp!). If you find makeup that you want to try at home before buying just ask for some samples, the workers would be more than happy to give you some. What I like about Sephora is their variety. It's not a bad variety like the ones you would find in your local drugstore, it's all types of quality makeup all packed into one store. And their brushes are awesome! Though expensive, it's worth every buck because they last pretty long. The best thing about Sephora is their return policy! They will take back any makeup within 60 days even if it is used but you need a receipt. I've used almost half of one moisturizer which did not do it for me. Why I kept using it beats me, I thought that I would have to wait it out because it got such good reviews. It just didn't work and Sephora was more than happy to give me a full refund. If you don't have a receipt, they'll give you store credit which isn't too shabby because no matter what, you're always going to find something at Sephora! Oh, and I love their beauty card point system! I don't usually get those point cards that stores offer but this one is definitely worth it! Every time you purchase something here, you get points. You can either save the points for a bigger gift or use them on the spot for whatever sample products they may have. They also give you a present when your birthday is near. I don't really like this Sephora because it seems bigger than Oakridge but smaller at the same time! I have a 6 month old son and we take him in a stroller and its harder to maneuver around this one. I love their products but their customer service sucks ass. Well SOME employees. Cathy H. is right. They love to stereotype here! I had my stroller and I swear AALLL the older/snobby looking employees love to stare at my stroller like I'm gonna steal something. Honestly, I wouldn't go into a store if I couldn't afford what was in there. And I understand loss prevention is a big thing especially with a store like this with a lot of little things but COME ON NOW. There's subtle ways. You don't have to MUG ME then stare at the bottom of my stroller. SHeeesh! I have mixed feelings about this place. The cashier though was really nice. I didn't catch her name. My one-stop shop for all things makeup and skincare related! (Yes, I am a VIB.) I normally go to the store to see what's new and browse, but I shop online because they usually have a wider selection and I can take advantage of more perks during check-out. Pros: - great online selection and streamlined UI for their website - helpful online guides to help you find the right product - online reviewer are candid and reviews are actually helpful - one of the bigger Sephora's in the area with a larger selection of perfumes, makeup, and skincare Cons: - staff varies from helpful to completely useless - the aisles are pretty crammed, so during busier times,it can be a tighter squeeze Overall, this is still a great store with tremendous offerings! read more

This place is a hit or miss with someone helping out. Weekends are obviously super busy. I went on a weekday at lunch since I needed help. When I got there, I was approached by a sales associate and explained to her what I needed. Though the associate listened to me, she wasn't helpful. She was rushing me and even though I explained to her that I was a novice, she didn't care. It wasn't even that busy at the store. I guess if you know what you need and want, come here. Straight craziness today. Maybe its me, but I feel like this place was totally understaffed for a busy Saturday. I walked in looking for three specific items. It would be really fabulous if they just had a map of where to find all the different brands and products since they obviously don't care to have enough employees available to help customers navigate this madhouse. I really REALLY love this Sephora location. They always have tons of staff waiting to help you/answer your questions. They also give the best suggestions based on what you want/need... not what *they* always use (I hate it at department stores when salespeople say "I use this all the time blah blah blah" and it's this lotion that smells like poo...). Went in here, no makeup, sweats, looking like a bum. All artists know that when you're busy with gigs, or just finally off, you do not make yourself up!! We do not go to the mall, gym, grocery store etc with a full face of makeup. Came in here, ignored completely. Needed help, no one to be found on the floor. I was like wtf? Went looking for my self and no items were in stock (or visible at least) asked a worker, she looked at me and snubbed me off and just pointed to the location of what I needed. Umm hello there is a reason why I asked for your help cause I couldn't find it. Told her i need "Tarte sex kitten liner" Her, "oh we don't carry that" without bothering to look. Showed her a pic and she pulled out the drawer and said "see this the only one we have" (not the item) . I went through the drawer and found it cause I knew what the packaging looked like. And she goes Oh and went off. Bad customer service. I felt that if you don't look like you do makeup or wear makeup they ignore you. Please train your girls better. I wish I could give ZERO star for ripping their customers! THIS STORE IS BUSY, but they use that to take extra money from your wallet. I purchased an item with displayed price of "$32" clearly labeled by their display area. After checking the receipt, I saw that they charged $34, not $32. Fortunately, I was still in the mall to go back and talk to manager about it and received the difference in amount in cash, BUT it was still very disturbing to know that they are charging their customers MORE if you are not CAREFULLY checking your receipt. TALK ABOUT TRUST!!! The manager was keep saying that it was the system's error, but REALLY??? Isn't that the STAFF's responsibility to check the price in the system and the displayed price??? I am the friend mentioned by Sandy below! I usually have decent customer service experience at this Sephora store, but the skincare lady who helped us today was fantastic! She mentioned, like Sandy said, that she used to work at a plastic surgeon's office and gave us lots of great skincare advice. I also gave her a sort of vague description of what I was looking for (sunscreen SPF 30+ for combination skin that can get really shiny) and she started asking me questions about my sunscreen use and habits, what my skin normally is like with different brands of products, and how I have reacted to sunscreen products in the past. Then she gave me very helpful advice on general skincare based on what I told her. She recommended a very lightweight, SPF 47 Josie Maran sunscreen, which was great! I had never used a Josie Maran product before. Unfortunately the product was over in the makeup area and she told me she would have to stay in the skincare section, so she gave me very specific instructions on where to find the product and what it looked like. Afterward, I tried to find someone to ask about a sample, but all the employees were busy! I wandered around for a while until one was available, and although she was a bit curt, she gave me a huge sample of the product. Overall I was a huge fan of the skincare customer service! However, the people in the makeup section never seem quite as attentive or helpful as this. read more

First off, I will say that the customer service is fantastic at checkout with the nicest cashiers. The return policy is exceptional, and I always find what I need. However, I haven't had a good experience yet on the sales floor. I went in planning to spend a lot on new skincare. I have acne and hyperpigmentation, went in with no makeup and asked for new product recommendations. I told a sales associate about my history with acne and ultimately, I felt lectured about poor skincare habits, how I should be wearing makeup and felt that my skin was a lost cause. I understand hyperpigmentation is hard to treat and was shocked at how condescending and critical the sales associate was. She asked me multiple times if I understood her like I was a young child. This experience has really discouraged me from asking for help again in regards to my skin. I did get product recommendations and samples in the end, but just bought products through my own research online. read more

When I go to Sephora I expect premium customer service. Today I was being helped by Vanessa and I had a completely different experience. I have never in my life felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable. What happened was, they credited me back more than they should have and they couldn't void it in their system. She goes ahead and tells the other cashier "well we have her on camera.. So if she doesn't come back we can find her." Basically she was pissed for something that was their error in the first place. They wanted me to pay them the money that didn't even get credited back into my account yet. I'm a VIB Rouge member, they always say they take care of you. You are "top tier" I definitely didn't feel taken care of. She has no smile on her face and she looked mad at the world. Totally done with that location. We stopped by here on a Thursday evening, around 7pm. It wasn't as crowded, I tend to avoid the weekend madness or order online. But service was still horrendous. The greeters at the door were so friendly, and then it's downhill from there. I stood in front of the product I was interested in and literally looked and waved for an associate for help. My girlfriend and I decided to take turns walking and no one was looking up or just busy with customers. When I finally got an employee's attention, she answered me while running away! Like her body was facing away and she continued to walk in the opposite direction. Ridiculous. My 2 stars are for product selections and cleanliness. read more

So I go to Sephora to buy my dad a Chanel blue because that's his favorite cologne, I go to the sales girl, and she brings 2 sized a 1.75 I believe for $130 and a 3.5 bottle for $165! I was surprised by the price but was in a rush so bought it and left, I come later when the dust of a crazy Saturday sells and I just wanted to check and sure enough Nordstrom and Macy's carry it and the 3.5 bottle for $92 vs I paid $130 for the half size bottle, next day I call the store and wanted to know what ther price is near double compare to everyone else, and the girl says you had the option to buy from anywhere you chose here sorry can't do anything and hangs up!!! Really so that's fine now I make the choice of going on every site and advising your buyers and stop anyone I know family friends and colleagues to never buy from you! When I'm at Sephora...I'm like a kid in a candy store. I love playing with make-up, trying out new skin/hair products, and I also collect pretty looking perfume bottles...so everytime I walk out of this store, I tend to be a few hundred dollars poorer. The SAs here are always eager to help, but that can get annoying if you just want to browse in peace. Sometimes I find myself avoiding walking by an SA just so I don't get pestered. Ok seriously... I needed make up to accomodate to my photos and modeling gigs. I met a makeup artists that does do runway... tell me WHY did my face turn out HELLA GHOST WHITE in my pictures?! OMG... she directed me to wear Smash Box and another press powder... don't get me wrong, it looked preety nice in the store... but damn... THIS FIVE STARS REVIEW GOES OUT TO DALINA!!!!!!!!!!! normally, sephora doesn't tickle my fancy. not being a make up junkie, i dont know much besides from the daily eye make up that i put on. that being said, i usually never go inside any sephoras. if i do step foot inside (once in a blue moon), i wouldnt even spend an adequate amount of time in there. BUT! i happen to have a little time on my hands when i was roaming around valley fair the other day with my friend, so i thought... why not? i had recently taken interest in trying out new products on my face, such as foundation/blush... etc, so i thought this would be the perfect chance to experiment and look around. i was greeted by a sales associate who quickly led me to an expert, dalina, who answered all the questions i had. since i didnt know much, it was a LOAD of questions. dalina was very sweet, and clued me on every product she picked out for me. when one thing didnnt work, she would readily suggest another.. she tried on a few different foundations on me, different brands, different forms, different shades. when i brought up blush, she picked the perfect color from the first try! you could tell she loves her job and is very knowledgable. whatever she did to my face, i loved! dalina never tried to force me into buying something i wasn't comfortable with. she was honest, and i appreciated that. when we were done working on my face, i told her that i wanted to see how long these products would last first before coming back and purchasing them. she happily wrote down the name of everything she used on me, including the brush itself, so i could come back and easily pick up where i left off. i left the store feeling somewhat rejunvenated at my fresh look, and super eager (for the first time) to see how well these products work. i also received multiple compliments from friends whom i saw later on in the day, and was very satisfied with what remained on my face by the time i got ready for bed. for sure coming back to buy these products, and its all thanks to dalina! thanks for changing my perspective on sephora, great customer service! :) read more

I feel absolutely nekkid when I come into this place. My face, that is. I hardly wear any make-up because its a pain in the ass to take that much time to put on and I rest my hand on my face like I was still twelve and bored and stupid. But, when I come in here, I notice everyone else has gots the make-up on to the hilt and I feel nude in the face. The salesclerks were really helpful hailing the troops in with their headsets to have others descend up me and my quest for some kind of concealer for my spotty face (funny how those "freckles" get larger and uglier with time). They were calling in the experts in on face concealers.... or else they were hailing another clerk to come see the character from Deep Space Nine with all the spots on her face ( Jadzia Dax??)....and were very nice about suggestions and not pushy at all. They have such a big selection of perfumes too....I'll be coming here instead to stock up on perfumes than having to deal with the surly clerks at Macy's who are too busy putting on their make-up to ring me up. I was on a hunt to find foundation today & I sampled a few different brands. Fenty was the last one I sampled & the fenty rep that helped me out was amazing. I didn't get her name but she was wearing a hat and she had blue eyes! I have a ton of freckles on my face & she suggested for me not to cover them because they were "adorable" She applied foundation on one half of my face and I loved it & then she applied highlighter so i loved it even more! I took 3 stars away due to my experience today. Only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one was because the manager really did help me. I have never really had a terrible experience with this sephora until today. Today i came in and was looking for a specific eyeliner in the sephora collection. I asked a worker (wish i asked for her name) help for me finding it. She had long black hair, a nasty attitude, and a brassy voice. And basically she looked at me as if i was stupid and told me to find it myself, after i stood there looking for that eyeliner for about 10 min. I really did search and i did not find it. She could not even help me for 10 seconds. Gave me an answer "if it is not there it is not in stock" alright even after i asked her for my help she told me i have to look for it myself and laughed at me a bit... okay so your getting paid to not help customers because your lazy and tell me to look for it myself. Why hire someone whos getting paid for doing absolutely nothing? so i asked another lady which thankfully was one of the managers for help. She actually did help me and placed an order with me since the product was not in stock (thanks for checking). I got great customer service with her, but as for the other lady who "helped" me (did not make any effort and chuckled at me) really did make me look at this specific sephora in a different way. Even though the manager did help me today, i was very disgusted about the attitude of the worker and I think my voice should be deserved to be heard just incase this issue happens to another customer with the same worker. read more

Right on! I'm not the only male reviewing this place! So basically, I found my new favorite cologne here (Lacoste Essential. I used to be an Acqua Di Gio guy), well I found it at the Burlingame location after having the best tiramisu ever at The Cakery (read my short review on them), but nonetheless I bought it here. I was never pressured into buying anything, and I didn't feel like less of a man for being in here. ...Maybe that's because I was with my friend, but that's besides the point. I can honestly recommend this place for guys that want to find a new frangrance. All of the bottles are available for testing, and best yet, they're all on the same wall, unlike department stores where the fragrances are split amongst many islands. They also have little containers of coffee beans to clear your nose after sampling so many different fragrances, kind of like pickled ginger for cleansing the palate. At times I found myself taking longer whiffs of the coffee beans than colognes, but what can I say? I heart coffee! read more

This Sephora is this makeup wh*re's wet dream. Seriously. I can spend hours wandering this place like a kid in a candy store. Unlike other Sephora's I've been too - this one is HUGE. Anything I want with the exception of MAC, is @ Sephora. If I want it and they don't have it - I'm probably using my overactive imagination again in thinking it exists. I'm sure there are some brands they don't carry but I am not sure which ones. I cannot walk into this place without leaving with at least one thing. The customer service has always been stellar although the girls on the floor sometimes don't seen to be to educated yet in the ways of makeup. The cashiers seem to be the least friendly of the employees there. I'm always asked in my aimless wandering at least a dozen times if I need help, when they give me a little shopping basket it's allll over now .. haha They have a good selection of perfumes and colognes as well as bath procudcts from lines like Philosphy, Bliss, and Sephora's own. The makeup lines vary from really high end like Guerlain down to Sephora's own brand (which is quality as well!). They carry brands like Fresh, Tarte, Benefit, Dior, Makeup Forever, Cargo, Urban Decay, Kat Von D (exclusive to Sephora), Nars, etc. etc. Some lines like Nars, Urban Decay and Benefit they carry pretty much all the products that brand offers including nail polish and makeup brushes. Sephora also has a wide variety of skin care lines that you would be hard pressed to find in a store and not online only. They now have a temptation line where while you're queued up to pay - there are smaller sizes of certain things like perfumes and makeup products for you to grab.. I love coming here and no trip to the mall is complete unless I take a stroll though. read more

This Sephora has the friendliest and most helpful staff I've experienced in my Sephora shopping adventures. I got a mini makeover because I'm part of the beauty club, tried foundation for the first time in my life and Brenda was really helpful and kind. She held good conversation and taught me about foundation and setting powder. To which I replied, "If you are comfortable getting herpes and pink eye then more power to ya, but none for me, thanks." This is one of the bigger, better stocked locations. Oakridge doesn't carry Duwop, along with a few other brands, the Stoneridge store is TINY, and well - you get the idea. If you haven't already done so, get their Beauty Insider card for the freebies. When it comes to make-up I need suggestions, recommendations, and opinions of others. I came to Sephora for my wedding make-up which I did all by myself because I didn't want to trust a stranger i've never met before (I had a destination wedding) with my face on the most important day of my life. I was approached by an employee named Thu. She was absolutely awesome! She helped me find primer, foundation, powder, blush, bronzer, eye make-up, perfume, and something to keep it all in place because I got married in the hot and humid caribbean. Thu was so knowledgeable on different types of make-up and even gave me tips on what she thinks would look good for weddings and how to make an even balance for in person and photography. I must have spent about an hour with her, you can really tell she has a passion for make-up and that definitely helped me in making my decisions. I have to go back and find her to thank her because my make-up turned out great! All day and night I only needed to touch up a couple of times! Also, all the make-up she recommended is make-up I could use on a daily basis. I didn't have any expectations coming in since I didn't have a receipt since the item was gifted to my partner and knew it would be a long shot. But they were patient with me and tried to see all the options they could which was very appreciated. I'm sure they also helped me out because I didn't throw them attitude like they're obliged to help me and fix a problem that wasn't their fault to begin with. Had a terrible experience tonight. First of all, I had to look for assistance after waiting in the store for about 15 mins. Once a sales was available to help, she was rushing to make a suggestion, took me to the products for that brand and just left me there!! I could tell it is a very poorly managed location, lots of bottles, tubes laying around, samples missing, and most of all, those sales associates never looked at you when talking. I rather take my business somewhere else, even if I have to pay more. read more

This is a down-sized version of the one in downtown San Francisco. Even though I only wear make-up about twice a year, I do love going into Sephora and browsing through the array of make-up, skin-care etc they have. I'm not a girly-girl, but even I enjoy coming to Sephora a couple times of year to play with all the makeup. You can try pretty much everything out before you buy it, and they have a great return policy that if you just bring back the product, its original packaging, and your receipt, you can return pretty much everything. Sometimes the salespeople can be a little snooty, but most are very helpful if you need aid in finding a specific product or advice on which products to try. The only thing I dislike about this store is how crowded it gets on weekends. The line can get up to 20 people long, so it's best to stop by on a weekday when there are fewer patrons. read more

Make up heaven. However it seems whenever I need help no one is available and when I don't need help I get asked about 3 times by different sales girls if I need assistance. Either way they have a great selection of colognes/perfumes, skincare, haircare, make up brushes/tweezers, nail files etc. I come here for the Diorshow mascara which is my personal fave. Make up wise, I love Nars. Extra star for having stations set up with mirrors, make up removers, tissues etc so that you can make yourself up and clean up if you make a clown of yourself. read more

I really love shopping at Sephora, especially since they started carrying more natural and paraben free products. I especially love the selection at this one. It's also one of the largest stores. My only reason for knocking down a star is that this location is no longer planning on carrying the "Cargo" line, which is just started using today. The colors and pigment are rich and yet still stay on all day. It's all all natural and contains very few preservatives, in addition to being sold in these cute biodegradable containers. Such a shame, however, when I'm in the area, I'll continue to shop here. Also, the service is sometimes a hit or miss. Came here again after work and it still sucks. I was in the store for 15 minutes and no one said hi to me when I walked in or came up to me when I clearly needed help. I ended up going to Nordstrom to pick up the Dior lip balm and eye brow pencil that I was looking for. At least the MUA there was helpful and actually got me what I needed unlike the girls that just walked around with a product in their hand as if they were putting it back while talking to each other. Work does not mean social hour... Maybe I'll just stick to makeup counters and online shopping. On the other hand, Sephora's customer service call center is AMAZING! I had multiple accounts and cards that weren't linked and in a matter of minutes the suuuper sweet girl on the phone linked my accounts and made sure all my past purchases showed up and I received all my accumulated points on one account registered to my primary email address. I might just have to drive the extra miles to Oakridge. P.s. I have never been a girly girl. Alway a tomboy I never had a chance to get in to the whole hair and make up side of being a female. To be honest the whole thing was a bit of mystery to me. This all changed when I had a friend take me in to Sephora. The staff is knowledgable and was able to teach even me how to do all those girly things one needs to know. The best part was they took in to account that I live an active life and were able to give me products that fit easily in a bag and don't look over done. They also taught me how to go total glam, which surprised some of my male friends when I put it in to practice. They even taught me 5 million ways to do my hair, helped me pick out a signature scent (prada), and all the cases to organize things. All in all Sephora is a great place to go to get all those little things one needs to pamper themselves. read more
