One of the best subs I have had! The bread is fresh and the meat and veggies were perfectly balanced. Highly recommend!

We miss the original Seppe's. Now their subs are not a full of meat like they used to be. Pizza is OK, bolis are decent.

Dining area is on the classier side for a casual 'pizza joint' & you don't bus your own tables here. But the food - that's why we're here, right ;) ...I like the rolls they use for subs - very good & fresh. Meat, lettuce, etc. have been fresh as well. Always have had a good experience here. I usually show up at off hours, so it has usually been pretty quiet - great place to unwind on your lunch hour! Recommended!

The girl at the register was nice, but Joe, the owner, came out, sent her away, and aggressively asked me what I wanted. I wasn't sure and said I needed some time to decide, but over the span of the next couple of minutes, he pressured me at least 3 more times to place my order. I ended up getting a boli with pepperoni and cheese and a soda and specified that I would be eating there. I'm not sure if he was deaf or just didn't understand English, but this somehow registered in his brain as ham and cheese, water, and for takeout. After getting everything corrected, he asked me where I was from (I'm local) and seemed frustrated that I wasn't one of his regulars. I stood at the counter for 5 minutes waiting for my cup, but he was too busy yelling at customers over the phone and at his own staff to provide it to me. He seemed bothered to do so, but eventually gave me the most pitifully small cup I have ever seen. After getting my soda, I sat and waited for an eternity for my food to come out. When it was finally ready, he yelled for me to come and get it, once again seeming frustrated by my mere presence. When I started eating, the very bland boli had ham instead of pepperoni, and the soda had no flavor. I didn't want to deal with him anymore at that point, so I finished my flavorless meal and got up to leave. Since I had to walk right by him, I decided to wish him a good evening despite the poor service and awful food, but he was too busy slamming imaginary dough into the oven from all of the non-existent orders coming in to notice me. I'm honestly not sure how this prick stays in business, but hopefully, it won't be for much longer so as to not further subject the residents of Enola to his bland food and piss-poor customer service.

As a self-proclaimed old Forge style pizza expert from Scranton, I can say this place has found its stride and I would put them up against just about any place in Northeast Pennsylvania. Really fantastic red and double crust white pizzas and the wings have been among the best in the Harrisburg area. Let me say that again: awesome wings!!! In recent years, many places who I didn't think of so highly have upped their wing game and have impressed me. This is one of those places and the owners have been taking much pride in their food offerings and the restaurant itself. They are in the midst of a remodel of the basement bar in anticipation of football season. I can't wait for that to open and I will be making this one of my regular stops, especially because it's so close to home. Also, the brews are really good for a microbrewery. Good selections and ok prices.

The server did come right over to the table to get our drink order but when we took a minute to look over the extensive mixed drink menu, she didn't come back for a long while. Service in general was poor. Took FOREVER to get one pizza at our table, and not a huge pizza either. While the pizza was good, both of us commented on how the grease laid in our stomachs later. Trying to order take away food, to bring home to our husbands was next to impossible and took 20 minutes to get. The garlic Parmesan wings my husband didn't have enough sauce and really had no flavor. When a man won't eat a chicken wings you know it's bad. The mixed drinks were weak and the one I had tasted like nasty coffee medicine. I wanted to love this place, but couldn't. The servers dragging tables across the floor loudly doesn't add to the ambiance either.

I opened their website and ordered the pizzaboli online, to be picked up in about 25 mins. I received notification that the food was ready right as I was getting in my car to head over. I am a pizza snob and truthfully, boil isn't my favorite. This however made my whole night! The sauce, the meats, the never ending cheese? Perfection. And at 26.50 because of 1 topping, it was more than worth it. I cannot wait to order again! I want the million dollar cheesesteak next!!

Their description alone sold me: "Seeded Hudson roll, shaved ribeye, caramelized onions, and Cooper sharp cheese melted into a sauce. This right here is the main event." Say no more. Take my money and hand over the cheesesteak! At $16, I was optimistic but a little cautious. It arrived in a hefty white Styrofoam box that smelled incredible. The moment I opened the lid, I knew I had made the right decision--it was massive, drool-worthy, and everything I hoped it would be. One bite in and I was in food-vana. The meat-to-cheesy-sauce ratio was perfect, the roll was dense and chewy with just the right crisp on the outside, and it held everything together beautifully. No soggy mess, no flimsy bread--just pure cheesesteak glory. Honestly, it really did taste like a million bucks. We paired it with bacon cheese fries for the ultimate heart-stopping combo, and together it made the perfect carb-loaded, finger-licking, "oh my God this is good" kind of dinner. The total was $27.18 with tip--not cheap for cheesesteak and fries, but definitely not robbery given the quality and portions. Parking is plentiful since Amici's is in a strip mall, but we opted for takeout because the dinnertime rush was a little too chaotic. Either way, if I'm craving an amazing cheesesteak, Amici's is at the very top of my list.

A quick side note that this place is in the same plaza as the Summerdale Driver and Photo License…read moreCenter which, on Saturdays, resembles a Black Friday event with self-absorbed randos on their phones wandering into traffic. No doubt they are all complaining to someone about the long line out the door and how they probably had to change their plans for the rest of the day. I mention this because getting to Al's through the mob was dangerous if you enter from the light at the center of the intersection. Come in at the side toward the Dunkin' (and beware of those careless drivers as well). Al's is somewhat conveniently located off of I-81 just across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, so a nice place when you're hungry and hitting the 81/83 interchange. There are a lot of dining options in the area and Al's does not call attention to itself with its modest signage. It is hidden behind a McD's and Dunkin's and you have to drive past a lot of other options going north or south before this place comes into view. Still, it is worth a try. In my circle of friends and family, I have as many who don't prefer this restaurant for various reasons as I know people who get excited when reminded it is still around and it's nearby for a quick lunch. If you want pizza and beer, it is well above average. Al's is one place where the only consistent thing I've heard from others is inconsistency. Some friends with similar tastes have very different opinions about their pizza. Others say they've gone with friends and been both pleasantly surprised by the improvements while others have been disappointed to come when it felt like the kitchen was off its game. I don't like sitting in the dining area surrounded by beer because people stand around and wait or they intrude on our space while checking out what is an impressive selection of beer options. The side dining area is quieter and slightly more comfortable, thought the seating is about as comfortable as your average fast food chair. I met with Dirk and our friend Erik the Stonecutter here at the top of their dining room service on a Saturday and the place seemed to be doing a lot of carry out business compared to the empty dining room. Because of this, we had great table service from the bartender. Dirk ate his slices of white pizza noting it was "utilitarian" in that it was pizza and it was edible. Erik, however, praised his cheesesteak which was massive and juicy. He took his with a 1/2 order of fries which is more than most full orders I've seen in this town. Erik is a regular here, so one of those who loves the kitchen and its hot subs. I tend to avoid the pizza because I've never had a slice that tasted like it wasn't reheated from much earlier in the day. However, the sauce on their meatball parm sub and the fresh bread is worth the price for me. The prices were GREAT for the quantity of food on the table.

Al's Pizza and Subs -- a place that's been around literally as long as I have. Al's opened the same…read moreyear I was born, so it's not just a restaurant for me -- it's a core memory. This is the place I run to when I need a break from food experiments and just want something consistently delicious at a great price, served by friendly folks who know what they're doing. No chaos, no nonsense, no disappointment -- just good food every single time. It's finally time I give them the praise they deserve. There's plenty of parking since it's tucked into a strip mall, and the staff are always friendly, quick, and on top of things. I swear, Al's doesn't have "bad food days." Everything is always good and always tastes the same -- which is rare in a world where restaurant consistency seems to be a myth. Their tuna salad? My all-time favorite. I don't know what they do to it, but no one -- no one -- makes it like Al's. It's perfectly balanced: moist but not too moist, flavorful but not overpowering, seasoned just right. Paired with those dense, doughy sub rolls? Perfection. It's honestly one of my favorite meals ever. On this particular visit, I branched out a bit and tried the stuffed cheesesteak pizza, too, for the first time. It was everything I hoped it would be -- thick, doughy crust on top and bottom, filled with savory cheesesteak meat, and an extra cup of marinara sauce for dipping (which I happily used every drop of). And now we get to the dessert fridge. I still remember the first time I walked in after they installed it -- I nearly screamed. A fridge full of rotating desserts? Dreams do come true! These days, grabbing dessert from that glorious fridge is a mandatory part of the Al's experience. I've tried nearly every dessert they've stocked, but the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone cake has my heart. That said, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Layer Cake I had this time came dangerously close to stealing the crown -- rich, fudgy, deeply chocolatey cake with peanut butter frosting that struck the perfect balance between sweet and nutty. And it was huge. Like, "probably shouldn't have eaten the whole thing but totally did" huge. Al's is -- and always will be -- a solid winner for me. Every single time. Without question. I'll be an Al's groupie until the day they close their doors (which I hope is never). Long live the dessert fridge -- and my lifelong love affair with Al's.
