I bought a Groupon here for Microdermabrasion. I really enjoyed it. Terri was very sweet, genuine, and fun to talk to. She really seemed to know what she was doing, and gave great advice. Her treatment was gentle and thorough. I even learned a few new things about my skin. Plus, it feels super smooth now too! I only wish she would say things such as - "oh this will feel rough or this and that" or "I'm going to put more pressure here." Nothing hurt at all, but I'm guessing she just didn't say these things since we were talking a bunch or she knew I had the treatment before elsewhere. I didn't mind this part at all, but I'm guessing for first timers, this might be important. Despite the 30 minutes commute (I thought it would be closer), I think I would definitely come back here. This review is long overdue!! I don't know where to start. I have followed Wendy from place to place for years. She will be part of my monthly beauty routine forever. I experienced a horrible breakout after the birth of my son 12 years ago. I've seen a few dermatologists, changed my diet and had many different facials to help with this. Along with the breakouts I ended up with a lot of marks and scarring. Not to mention a lighter wallet from the derm. visits. Luckily, I met Wendy. After the hydra facial Wendy took the time to address the concerns I had with my skin and what she could help with. She was very realistic and knowledgeable. After our conversation I felt comfortable and willing to try the services she recommended. I purchased a microdermabrasion treatment package and took her advice on changes to make to my everyday skin routine. I visited her every other week at beginning. Within a few weeks, the breakouts stopped! 3 months since my first visit we have done 3 microdermabrasion treatments and my skin texture is like baby skin, the spots have significantly faded and most importantly I have much more confidence! I do not feel the need to wear makeup like before and have received loads of compliments from friends on my skin's difference. Obviously, every person's treatments will vary depending on the problems but Wendy seems to be very knowledgeable and personable to each client. I ended up booking a massage with Renee (sp) and a facial with Caitlin (sp). My massage was relaxing and great as usual. My facial was fabulous! I have never had a facial from Caitlin before but she great! She is very professional, friendly, and thorough. Her facial is extremely relaxing! I almost fell asleep and I never do that! I came here my first time, and got a Diamond Peel with microdermabrasion, caviar mask, and eye treatment with Jun Gao. There was a Yelp coupon for first time clients, and it was $75 off (for the Diamond Peel/caviar mask). Great deal! And I was able to get in quickly. Jun was professional and skilled. I loved the treatment; it felt so luxurious getting my hands and feet massaged, before wrapping them in heated booties while the first mask absorbed. I had never had a microdermabrasion, and it didn't feel that good, but it was what I expected. The caviar mask is like a thick moisturizer that you leave on for the rest of the day. You can't see it, like you would a mask, but it is a thick layer on your skin. Resist the urge the wash it off right away. It is two days later...and wow! The effects are lasting! That first night, my skin felt baby soft; I couldn't believe it was mine! I kept touching my face, it was soooo soft. I don't know if it was the microdermabrasion, or everything combined, but I am very happy. Hard to explain all the benefits...I feel like my skin isn't as oily as it was, or the oil doesn't penetrate it like it did. My skin just doesn't feel like mine anymore, it feels like it did 10 years ago. Age sneaks up on your skin, and that was proof. Facial services are pricey, but I know that none of the creams they have on the market could have done what that treatment did. And some of them are just as costly. read more

I found my Serenity Day Spa experience to be solid but nothing extraordinary. I called for a 60 minute Swedish massage and was able to book an appointment for the next afternoon, which I appreciated. The location had several small thoughtful touches including a little snack of chocolate & nuts when entering and a container of extra hair ties in the room. However, I was in the room closest to the road and found the sound of traffic distracting. In addition, the rooms are clearly used for the wide array of services available and so there is a lot of additional equipment in the room. I found the equipment and make up displays to take away from the overall ambiance. Although if you were booking multiple services, then this might be a plus for you! In terms of the actual massage itself, it was very comfortable but definitely more on the side of relaxation than massage therapy. The massage felt a little more generic as opposed to specifically tuned to the problem areas within my body. I wouldn't have a problem going back again, but I likely will not rush to do so. If there was a half star option, then I would rate Serenity Day Spa a 3.5. read more

I've been there a few times, each time with a different massage therapist, most were good. I just think it's kind of rude asking customers to pay and tip before the massage and the lady at the front desk half way gets up and stares at the tip section while I'm signing the receipt. I don't like to tip prior to the service at all, tip should be based on how well the service is provided. I always tip well, always between $20-30, never less. However, if you go to a restaurant, wouldn't it be super awkward when they make you pay and tip before the food is delivered? It's the same concept. So for that, I take away 2 stars. read more

Get a facial with Dayna... Seriously, you can thank me later. I got a facial the day after Xmas so I could have glowing gorgeous skin for New Years Eve! First off, the spa isn't large but is comfortable sized and the treatment room was really relaxing. Soothing music, fuzzy blanket, hand warmers and aromatherapy neck rest were perfect additions to help me get into a relaxing headspace. Sometimes it's hard to just zone out and enjoy a treatment but the soothing touches were so nice and unexpected. So my facial was literally the best facial I've ever had. I work for a medical skin care company and I get offered complementary facials from my clients like waitresses get tips. Not kidding. So I know a thing or two about facials. Keyword here is attention to detail. Her hands are delicate but she goes above and beyond to get every nook and cranny. I got microderm all over my face, extra attention to a recent scar on my chin, around my ears and down to my décolletage. The facial included neck and décolletage which most places simply skip or if you ask them to do the treatment down to the neck they charge more so I was thrilled for extended area. I got a cross facial, I'm acne prone but I also have dry spots so she mixed it up for me. Gentle glycolic peel then Microderm to the max! She also used this weird watery vibration thing (gonna have to look it up) that used microcurrents to push blackheads out of my skin, it was freaking awesome in a gross, can't stop watching kind of way. Anyway, I was absolutely glowing afterwards and the glow lasted long after the epic New Years party. Next time I'm up there I will definitely be back for a facial with Ms. Dayna! read more

I can't wait to come back here with my sister :-) So, I made an appointment this morning after doing tons of research online last night about facial/massage places to go to with my sister in town. She can't make it out to see me often, so I wanted to take her to a great skin care place. My sister's skin was breaking out from travel, and mine was kind of crying at me because it's super sensitive from all the new products I tried out. After reading the 5-star reviews, I decided to give Serenity Day Spa a try. I called today morning, and luckily, got an appointment for my sister and I 3 hours later. A small yet clean and relaxing atmosphere, they give you water and snacks as soon as you sit down. Intake was quick and informative, and we started our treatments right away. My sister started out with the clarifying facial to calm her acne-prone skin, while I started out with a massage. The table was warm, room was well-decorated (simple, NOT superficial and overdecorated). The massage was just so relaxing, I drifted away. My chronic neck pain subsided, as my massage therapist gently eased into the deep tissue. My pet peeve is massage therapists jamming their elbows on me right away, and my therapist did the opposite-- nice and relaxing before working out the kinks. After, my sister and I switched, and I had the clarifying facial. I have to admit, I was nervous because my skin requires PRESCRIPTION strength medication due to allergic reactions. It's usually smooth, but due to change in diet during the holidays (too much sugar...?) my skin started developing pimples. To make matters worse, my skin started developing sensitivity to this new cream I started using, so my face felt like it was on fire, with so many little raised bumps. The esthetician working on my face was gentle, yet she was very focused on getting my face clean and zit-free. She also used extra-gentle enzyme mask and products to help my sensitive skin calm down. At the end of the experience, my face was much much calmer, and my sister and I were super relaxed and happy. My sister's acne-prone face was a lot smoother, and we were just so impressed. I'm a huge massage fan and have been to a lot of different massage therapists. I scheduled a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Stephanie to work on several problem areas of mine. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I was really impressed by how much she knew about how the different muscles were connected and how well she was able to trace the muscles and match the pressure she exerted with how my muscles were responding. She has magical, healing hands. During the massage she explained why she was employing different techniques and seeked my feedback on more advanced moves to make sure I was comfortable. She also gave me suggestions to help reduce tension in my problem areas (e.g. changing my sleeping position, doing specific stretches, etc.). She even spent extra time with me for free to make sure that she finished working on all my problem areas. I'm definitely going back to her. read more

almost 4 stars Teri is great overall. I went to see her twice before my wedding. I almost don't want to write this review because I think she's the bargain of the century and don't want her to get booked up! She's in the Oak Creek apartment complex in Palo Alto and is a lovely and warm person (as is her receptionist). For my first cleaning, I paid $65 for a deep cleansing facial, blue light, glycolic treatment, extractions, sulfur treatment and a deep moisturizing treatment on my hands and feet. She spent about an hour and a half with my skin and it was clear that she is a perfectionist! I was thrilled. I went back a week later (and two days before my wedding) to get a final facial. I paid $135 for a skin balancing facial and some waxing and brow shaping. She had this little tube of liquid and was like "after this treatment, this whole bottle of liquid will be in your face." I should have objected because my skin's kinda shiny, but what do I know? Anyway, I was beyond glowing afterward - my face felt really balanced but looked like a bit of an oil slick afterward and even on my wedding day. Thank god for photoshop - I will have to get rid of a lot of the shine from my pictures. Minus one star for super shiny wedding face, and for being more than 1/2 hour late for both appointments (although for the second appointment, she called me and asked me to come late). read more

I've used this spa several times for massages and facials and recommended it to my client who took 15 managers here! With a referral like that, it would have been nice to get a Thank you card. I have frequented a few spas in the area but never found one that had a masseuse I LOVED. I stumbled across Serenity's yelp page last night and was blown away by the amount of 5 star reviews that were left. I decided to take a chance and contact them to make an appointment. I had sent an email around 5:30pm and got a response rather quickly. I was told there were no appointments available but that if something were to open up last minute that I would be contacted. Sure enough, Katie emailed me around 8pm that there were 2 cancellations. I decided to take one and had a 75 min massage with Manee. I will start with Katie's customer service and response time via email was incredible! She was even more pleasant in person. Manee was amazing and I can honestly say probably got one of the best deep tissue massages ever! She is strong and mighty and that is what I wanted. I went to Serenity to get my eye lashes tinted. Kaitlin was my cosmetologist and she did a fabulous job! She was gentle and professional and made my experience very relaxing. She took her time on my lashes even though I was her last client on a Friday night. Kaitlin was gentle on my eyes and made sure I was satisfied with my lashes before I left. My experience at Serenity was amazing because of the spa-like atmosphere, fireplace, peaceful music, and Kaitlin did a fabulous job. My lashes turned out perfect and I plan on continuing the lash tinting with Kaitlin. Kaitlin also gave me a face serum sample for extra hydration because she knew I was going on an airplane and that tends to dry out your skin. She was so considerate and made my entire spa experience very memorable. This spa is beautifully decorated and feels like a high end spa with very reasonable prices. I've been coming to Serenity Day Spa once a month for several months now. I have never missed an appointment. I had an appointment scheduled for Saturday, 11/18 at 600 PM. I arrive and the door is locked with no one available. I call and ring the doorbell. After 10 minutes, someone answers. I share that I'm here for my appointment at 6 PM and she has no record of the appointment. I scheduled a month in advance!! Just awful! Very unhappy with the poor appointment keeping and customer service. Appointments are handwritten in a book and no confirmation phone calls are ever made. I left my number at the reception desk, but doubt I will be called. Disappointed with this business! UPDATE: Owner contacted my first thing the next day and apologized profusely for the missed appointment. She offered a session at no cost. I appreciate the quick follow up and comp offer. Love this place! A quality, intimate spa in Atherton for a reasonable price? Awesome! My last massage was at Sense-A spa at the Rosewood on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park for almost twice the price. This massage was in the top 10% of all massages I have ever received. Booking was easy and pleasant. They use high-quality products like Biotone massage cream (not oil), and customer service is excellent. The interior is dim, quiet and relaxing. Parking is so much more convenient than most places. I had my first session with Terri 3 weeks ago...did permanent make-up on upper/lower lids and brow. Although I had gotten my brows done several years ago at another salon, I was a bit apprehensive about having my lids done due to the delicate skin around the eyes. Terri thoroughly explained the procedure, made sure the skin was completly numb and gave me gentle reassurances as she applied the liner. Terri really helped me stay relaxed, and she has a great sense of humor, which I feel you need to have working so closely with your clients. I am very happy with the results, although I need to return next week for a touch-up to enhance some of the liner. It is so nice to wake up every morning with my eye make-up "ready to go"!! Booking here was pleasant. My call wasn't picked up the first time but within minutes the receptionist called me back. She was sweet and pleasant. I told her I mainly wanted help with my carpal tunnel. I arrived about 10 minutes early, was offered tea and/or water, and was brought a small snack. The girls up front were very sweet, as well. My therapist, Kelly, picked me up early which I was happy with. Kelly did an extremely wonderful job at getting into the very tense muscles in my arms, neck, shoulders, and back. She was consistent about asking me if the pressure was okay (which it was!). She does an excellent deep tissue and she made the whole experience relaxing. Overall, the spa is great. Convenient parking, easy to find, and wonderful staff with equally wonderful service. Definitely a place I would go back to! read more

Teri is honest, reasonable,discreet and has been doing this work for years. I see her once a month or so for regular facials and scrubs, and she is fabulous with my skin. The location is humble - she has space in an apartment complex, and you have to go to the apartment complex gym to use the restroom. Don't let this sway you. I receive comments from friends about how great my skin looks after I see her, and she isn't pushy about selling treatments or products. If you want to treat yourself to something above and beyond the standard cleaning, she gives great facial massages. Standard cleaning packages often include massages of hands and feet. read more

The owner was so accommodating when I called to make the appointments-she let us use a special that would have been expired by the time we went, had the massage therapists come in on their days off because they were short-staffed that day, just SO sweet. The only thing that kept me from being totally relaxed was the fact that I was in the front corner room for my facial/waxing/massage, and I could constantly hear the traffic going past.
