I went in for the Swedish massage. I soon as I arrived the receptionist looked bored. She called the masseuse who was kind enough to take me in right away since I was a bit early. The massage itself was great, but the environment was not. The room felt cold and I was only covered in a small towel. The masseuse was wearing shoes that were so noisy on the cold tile floor and they kept playing the same muzak (Dido's, Thank You) for the entire hr I was there. After it was over I was given bottled water that was warm. Overall, massage was great for the price, but staff and environment could be better. read more

Prices as very competitive and there is always a daily special every time you walk in, for example they have early bird specials and up to %50 off on some days on waxing and facials. I actually had one of the best massages I've ever had here. They were advertising a 50 minute hot stone massage for $50. Why not? It was fantastic. The masseuse was Amy (my mother had had her for a facial and thought she was fantastic as well). She was wonderful and between her strength and the stones, it was one of the best I've ever had and I've had quite a few. I had used a Groupon before for a swedish massage and it was good but not like this one. I will definitely go back and make sure I get Amy again. As far as the spa for other services, it is quite lovely. They give very good manis and pedis. Not so sure why the bad reviews. It can be pricey but they have lots of specials. I only treat myself to a mani-pedi once and a while. I was so horribly disappointed by the one I had today! It ran me $42 plus tip. I felt as if because I wasn't paying for a more expensive treatment, I was almost invisible. My friend (who had a fancier pedi) received attentive service. My whole deal was rushed. My toenails are uneven and one of them (my big toe) is was not filed and has a snaggle in it. Some of my fingernails are rounded, others are square. They didn't even dry my nails. It was clean and pleasant otherwise. But I felt really let down and taken advantage of in the end. read more

I've generally been very happy with this salon until my most recent experience. I'm writing a negative Yelp review due to the way the salon handled the situation. I very quietly pulled the receptionist aside abs told her what happened. A simple story would have been fine, but she blamed me instead saying I was probably allergic to the nail polish they applied. I googled and found MANY people have had problems with the nail polish they applied - Quimica Alemena nail hardener. Let me explain. I had to have a medical procedure that required me to remove my powder gel nail polish. As is customary, the salon staff soaked off the gel using acetone. I originally thought this was the problem. It wasn't. What they did next was paint my nails with Quimica Alemena nail hardener. My nails began to burn nearly immediately, but I thought the burning was related to the acetone soak. I figured it would go away. A number of days later, my nails were still burning and painful. They also started splitting along the sides and middle. I considered a visit to the dermatologist, but googled the nail hardener instead. Sure enough, there were a number of complaints about pain (felt like my fingertips were hammered and they hurt any time something came into contact with them) and burning. I quickly removed the hardener and my nails started feeling better. I've since been applying oil which has been helpful. I've had the hardner applied as a top coat in the past, but never as a base coat. Beware of this nail hardener! And, make sure it's used in accordance with the directions! read more

This place has is really just the worse. They spend money making it look good and charge a lot for services but it is unprofessional and low budget. I paid a little over a $100 for a voucher that was supposed to include a mani-pedi and hot stone massage. Good deal right? Wrong. The pedicure felt like someone just washed my feet. No scrubs, relaxing little massage, nothing and the manicure was about the same. When I got my massage, this was awhile ago so things may have changed, but apparently they were still working on the new addition to the place where the massages would take place. It looked bare and barren and was the meeting place it seemed for workers with nothing to do at the time because I had to listen to construction people doing work on other rooms(!) and loud talking in a foreign language right outside the door while I was supposed to be getting my relaxing massage. I mentioned it to the lady and she went out and said something and the voices got a little quieter. She also put on music. The massage was terrible. I've had plenty of massages before. This lady began rubbing me down with the hot stones without having put ANY OIL on my back. I asked her and she said, 'later, later'. I thinks he just didn't want to admit she forgot so she was acting like it was some new technique or something. The massage was horrible, the room wasn't properly warmed so I actually felt a little chilly, she had no rhythm or system to anything she did and I was just very, very disappointed. I actually got credited for my money from Groupon or Livingsocial, whoever it was I used. I warned them then to not continue working with this company and this was in early 2012. I had been a customer for almost a year and was pleased with the services 2 weeks ago I had to have eye surgery and had to let my lashes go natural. FIRST my natural lashes were a fraction of their original size. Whatever they did, weakened my lashes horribly THEN I asked (as a long standing customer) if they would give me a break on my reapplication. I said I would like to pay for a 3 week touch up. Which is NOT cheap..75 dollars On the phone Alice said, don't worry we will work it out When I got there she said I had to pay $120.00. They were giving me 20 off WHAT?!?!? No one charges that anyway and is that anyway to treat a long standing customer who had eye surgery??!?!? The worst, was I had an event that night so I had no choice but get the app as my lashes looked awful I had the WORST app EVER They looked skimpy when I walked out the door and they are falling out faster than they ever did Was this a spite application People who don't treat long standing customers well should NOT have new ones read more

I give a star for decor and cleanliness alone. The service was nothing less than dreadful. Came with a groupon for a shellac and decided to get a pedicure. The pedicure lasted a little over 20 minutes and should have been advetised as a "Drive By Pedicure". I totally agree with ED from NJ it was barely a foot steep and change of polish but cost $30.50. Then the shellac service started with filing the surface of the former shellac and cutting the nail, without soaking and removing shellac first. Needless to say I questioned AMY and she said that is how it is done. As i did not wish to ruin my nails, I decided to just pay for pedicure and leave. Spoke to manager who was basically argumentative and realized it was a waste of time. What a shame as it has so much potential and great location but it is basically not interested in providing a good service but just to "turn and burn" the clientel. I had purchased a couples massage and went with my mom to the spa. They were very accommodating and gave us separate rooms. The massages both my mom and I had very very enjoyable. They spent a lot of time concentrating on the upper body so by the time we were getting close to the hour being up the last 10 minutes felt a little rushed - but overall I would definitely go back again. read more

I got the shellac manicure and my technician Rosie was AMAZING...pretty quiet but a true artist as she took 6 months worth of no care/cuticles and turned my hands into a lotion ad. She was very very good and spent a great deal of effort to provide good service....Please tip her well if you go there. I watched the lady next to me demand 2 techs, one doing her nails and the other giving her a massage, split the $5 tip she put on her cc. If I could give a half a star or no star I would one star is more than generous... Living on the UES - I have been coming here for years.. I leave a box of my things there for a 10 dollar fee and they keep track of your services so you collect points for a free service -I leave things like my own quick dry topcoat polish and base coat, nailtique's and so on. I arrived today and asked for my box before my pedicure - half way through the service -my box still hasn't appeared. I asked 3 times - no response- now if they just ignored me that would one issue but countless times my things are missing from my box / fine human error. If they lost my box - instead of ignoring me I wouldn't have gotten so angry but they said nothing and when I asked the manager - her English got worse - now I know this game. When the manager 'Coco' walked by for a third time - consistently ignoring me I was floored. It would have be nothing if they were upfront and honest but to flat out ignore a loyal customer is where you lost me. Clearly not allowing for a pleasant pedicure - when I said we are not continuing until someone tell where my things are- I got various lies when I forced an answer. Being someone where English isn't my first language - no one can its a 'language thing' so after countless years of coming to serenity spa simply out of it being a convenient locale - and collecting hundreds of dollars worth of free service - they finally found my box - clearly my products were close to empty in their bottles as they were using it for their other clients. CLEARLY THEY DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT TREATING A CLIENT OR THE WORD LOYALTY. I finished my pedicure and told them they just lost a good customer- paid my bill and I am sitting here drying my nails writing this review - right in the salon. Why not??? How a person handles themselves speaks volumes - if you don't care how someone treats you and have no problem being lied to then this nail salon is for you. My experience at Serenity Spa was absolutely wonderful. I went in for the 60 minute massage, mani/pedi, and eye or lip wax package. I was truly pleased from the moment I walked in the door as I was greeted by the super friendly staff and offered a bottle of water to begin my rather relaxing experience. The mani/pedi turned out beautifully, the wax was quick and pleasant, and the massage was the perfect ending to my spa day. Went to get my Groupon Massage i purchased. $38 isnt bad for an hour massage! The place is clean and neat. The only problem i had, was when i got my massage, i was on my stomach the full 60 minutes. This kind of hurt a little that i didnt get to change positions. I have had several massages, and that was a first. The massage itself was pretty good. I was offered to buy the sam coupon again...i bought 2 more sessions! Not a bad deal at all. Next time ill tell the therapist to get both sides! read more

I got a gel manicure there and was very disappointed with it. I had no problem getting an appointment, but after five days the manicure started peeling. This is very frustrating considering it's supposed to last two weeks. Also, I got a French manicure, but the lines were all uneven- some lines thicker than others. Very disappointing. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR A MASSAGE!!! i puchased a couples massage package from groupon.com for this spa because it was a half price special deal. We arrived at the spa which turned out to be just a HOT, tiny, dingy room with 2 massage tables. We immediately felt uncomfortable but figured to be open minded. we layed down and the massagers came in -- wearing dirty sneakers and sweat pants -- very unprofessional and not encouraging at all. They proceded to cover my entire body with a towel, but my boyfriend got a random fabric remnant. They started massaging us OVER the towels which was not relaxing at all... thought i was getting rug burn. Then they started massaging our necks and ONLY our necks for about 15 minutes -- our necks were so sore we had to ask them to move to another part of our bodies. So they attempted to massage our backs but just rubbed their hands on us - there was no pressure applied at all. We were so stressed and annoyed that we begged them to stop after only 20min even though we had paid for an hour. After some arguing they reluctantly gave us a full refund because we were so angry. I came for an eyelash tint and I was nervous at first because the woman did not leave the tint on for as long as usual; however, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Living Social coupon holders- you are in for a treat. I used my coupon on Monday and I left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and looking fabulous. Amy was my therapist and she was very sweet. The massage was wonderful. It seemed much longer than it actually was. She did some great work on the knots in my back and shoulders. Then she gave me a facial that left my skin truly glowing. The sea salt pedicure was wonderful. Amy took her time with me and gave me a great foot massage to go along with it. I returned in the afternoon because my fake eyelashes (that I had done elsewhere) were falling out and looking ridiculous, so the manager offered to fill them in for me later that afternoon. When I returned, the lady who fixed my eyelashes was also very sweet and also took her time with me. She was also very gentle which I appreciated because I have sensitive eyes. I even fell asleep on the table. I wanted to bring my visiting mother and my aunt back the next day for a facial, but our schedule was too busy. At least I know I will definitely be returning soon! Absolutely horrendous service. I went here with my sister to get gel manicures. They started us both but then stopped my sister's in the middle and made my sister wait 40 minutes. We told them that we would have gone somewhere else if we had known they were not properly staffed. Then they finished mine and made me sit next to the door with a freezing cold draft so I couldn't even talk to her while they finished her manicure. They are overpriced and incredibly rude. I can't believe they are able to treat people this way. The manicure was fine but not worth the awful treatment. read more
