First of all I'm from Orange County California and know Mexican food very well. This is not even close to authentic Mexican food. This restaurant wouldn't last a month in California. I ordered the steak and carnitas platter. 1. The rice was as bland as could be with no seasoning. 2. The beans came straight out of a can. 3. The tablespoon of carnitas in the taco was not good either. 4. The steak taco had square pieces of steak that looked like it came from a can. Steak tacos or carne asada as they are called are not square. They should be small strips of tender steak which these were not. I understand I'm not in an area that's abundant with Mexican food, and am willing to pay a higher than usual price, but this is truly HIGHWAY ROBBERY. I hate to say it but if you want Mexican food DONT GO HERE. read more

Let's see, how can I put this experience?! Fantastic comes to mind. Worth all 5 stars!!! Arrived around 4:00 pm. A good amount of diners enjoying their meals, plenty of seating at that time. A very nice restaurant, inside & out. Drink menu is EXTENSIVE & I went with the Margaritas. Chips & Salsa came & were fresh & that salsa was amazing. Not too spicy & a nice thick consistency. We ordered dinner at 7:30pm (server left the order ticket on our dish) and it came out at 7:34 pm. It was guacamole & chips and a short rib burrito. Chips & salsa understandable but a burrito in 4 minutes is faster than chipotle & Pancheros!!!! It was cold, we complained to the server, she told her manager but nobody addressed our complaints?!? Very good mexican restaurant near our resort. The food was as amazing as the service. Everyone working there deserves praise. Our waitress (wish I got her name) was incredible. My wife is currently pregnant and they talked as if they have known each other for years. And she even had my toddler helping her printing out the check and bringing it to the table (he loved it) and the food was very very good. What a wonderful place. Mexican food on Maui? Saw the great reviews and decided to try it out. Located in a strip mall and close to many hotels, the location is convenient. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The food is average - not really authentic Mexican but definitely some version of it. We started with the spicy smokey mango margarita - it is definitely both. Perhaps a bit too smoky for me. The grande nachos - a large portion of chips, choice of beans, guacamole, sour cream, pickled jalapeño, and lots of cheese - a very shareable plate. It was good as far as nachos go. I went with the chile Ellen and my friend ordered the cheese enchiladas. Entrees come with rice and choice of black or refried pinto beans. The sauce on both seemed to the same. This place is incredible! I ordered a margarita and the flautas and both were magical. The margarita was delicious and strong and the flautas were complex in flavor and very delicious. I saw a couple of reviews that mention the price but, based on my experience, the food and drinks are well worth the money. The service is top notch, too. The bartender, Jeremy, was very nice and attentive and I met a few of the servers in passing and they were all very sweet. 10/10 experience. read more

I wanted something healthy as I was tired of heavy food so I ordered the mixed vegetables. I dont know what I was expecting but they were all diced in a dish. They were ok but nothing special. The guac, pico, and sour cream were great. My husband and enjoyed his enchiladas, and we shared some chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't the traditional recipe like I'm used to, but I really liked it. We went to Sergios for dinner about a week ago. We love the casual atmosphere and the Latin American cuisine. Service is prompt and courteous. It's a short walk from our condo, but there is plenty of free parking near Sergios. Some local friends told us about it a couple of years ago and they were right! This New Mexican place here just North of Kaanapali is a really great find. We haven't been to too many Mexican places on the island, but for the ones we have been to, this one lands near the top easily. The huge list of mocktails is a giant plus. The chips and salsa, though coming at a charge, are well worth it. The chips are crisp and salty and the salsa is incredible. I ordered the huevos rancheros and in my opinion, they were not the best, but I put the blame for that mostly on me. The verde salsa it came with had a very strong tomatillo flavor, which is a plus, but for me, it was too tangy. If you like really tangy verde sauce, it's awesome. If not, go for something else. The eggs were great and the tortillas were exactly right for this dish. Sour cream and pico were as good as expected, and the pickled jalapeños were a nice touch of flavor on top. I would personally pass on the guacamole. Go for straight avocado instead. I don't know what it is exactly, but something isn't right with the guacamole here as well as some other places we have been on the island. Can't place it, but maybe you can. Prove me wrong. The chile relleno my wife ordered was quite good. The beans were great and the rice was solid--good beans and rice are the basis of great Mexican food. My mother ordered the maya salad and the quantity of food there was very impressive. It looked very fresh, and the dressing comes on the side so you can decide how much you want. We finished the meal with the chocolate tres leches cake and it was very good. Extremely moist and light as it should be. Wouldn't change anything about it. The service was quick and nice. Our server got back to us very quickly about any questions she didn't know the answer to (the black beans do not have lard). The restaurant was very well appointed and it was overall a very nice place to have a meal. It would have a five star solid from me if it weren't for the guacamole. Like I said before, there's just something about it here in the island that isn't right. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. read more

We ate at Sergio's Cantina last week because our resort was nearby and we were able to get reservations for 4 on relatively short notice. I'm so glad we did! The food was very good. We all had something different and each of us enjoyed our dishes. Thank you to the friendly staff as well. I was surprised to find that chips and salsa were extra (like $3.50) but when your craving good Mexican food you pay for the chips and salsa if you have to. We stay in this area almost every time we visit Hawaii so we will definitely return. read more

Sergio's is the go to place for the best Mexican on the west side of Maui. The restaurant and bar is great and they have happy hour food and drinks until 5 pm, but they also have the same food at a discount in the Lahaina Cannery for a relaxed place to eat. With a similar menu and execution in a simpler environment, Sergio's food, service and quality is excellent. The steak quesadilla had a cheese crust on the outside and wonderful, creamy cheese inside. The steak was tender, juicy and flavorful. The lettuce wrapped fish tacos were fresh and crisp with a perfectly cooked piece of Mahi Mahi in the middle. Healthy, yet excellent flavor. Chips and salsa were well executed as well. Service was prompt, fast and friendly. For a new restaurant, this was surprising. Sergio's is currently BYOB but will open a full bar in March. read more

We really enjoyed eating here. The service was top notch. Ashley, our waitress, was so fun and attentive. The other wait staff was very attentive to us as well, like refilling water and taking empty plates. Being from San Diego, we were curious how Mexican food would taste out here in Maui, but it was super good! We shared a quesadilla for an appetizer, it was yummy with the crispy cheese on the outside. My guy got the short rib enchiladas and cleared his plate within seconds - I am not sure he even took a breath. I had the garlic shrimp and they were very tasty!
