Food is amazing! I also came out for when they had the world's largest croqueta party and it was a fantastic event, even the mayor came out. I am a fan of their breakfast and the avocado salads. Generous portions and all the breakfasts come with warm buttery Cuban bread. Service can be improved (quicker at taking orders) but I also understand there is a staff shortage nationally which affects timing. Their pastries and empanadas are also tasty and filling if you need something quick on the go. We grabbed some tequenos and empanadas for a picnic later on, and they were still great by the time we ate them. read more

This is my favorite Sergio's. Every time I walk in the manager Marlin sits me down in my favorite spot and actually takes my order herself and passes it on to my server. That kind of attention is not the norm. I sometimes watch her surveying the room and looking for anything that she can fix. I'm actually sitting in the restaurant now as I write this and there she goes again. Too funny!!! Were here on the last day before flying out from cruise. Friend suggested this place so we went. I had the Ropa Vieja which was just beef fried on the grill, a little chard for flavor and onions on tops. Nothing special. Wife had the Cubano Sandwich and really didn't like the pork they had on the sandwich. We have had other Cubano Sandwiches while in Miami and they were better. Place was packed on a Sunday which looked like a lot of locals. They had a breaded steak which looked great but I wasn't that hungry to tackle it. This is definitely a good quick spot to stop by when in need of some Cuban cuisine. I sat down here for lunch and I ordered the vaca frita which was pretty tasty while my company had the turkey pesto sandwich--which he thought was mediocre at best. One important point was the service (or lack thereof) which was very inattentive and rushed. When we received our lemonade, the waitress failed to see the paper napkin holder swimming in the lemonade. She never came back till close to the end of the meal so we grabbed the first waiter we saw for assistance. We even had to wait for her to pass by to ask for refills. Overall, our experience was okay and I definitely would come back again for a quick meal. I just wish the service were a bit more attentive. read more

For 30+ years, my favorite steak sandwich was from Sergio's. I had it at least once a week, usually at the Bird Rd location late at night on my way home. I visited the Coral Way location back in February, sat down, and it was fine. Ordered one to go a few weeks ago and it's was total garbage. They had some stupid ring type camera setup. They said it was ready and someone would come out, that took 15 minutes after 2 calls. It was half the size, apparently so it would fit in some shitty Styrofoam container and the bread was old/stale. They used to wrap the full size steak sandwich. Can't even blame it on the pandemic. Saw other stupid business decisions. I saw some guy trying to load food into some ridiculous rumba looking thing. They guy could have just delivered the food to the table in less time. read more

You may recall that prior to the pandemic I was doing a weekly restaurant review. Up to that point I had written 43 reviews, going back to June 2019, when I reviewed El Floridita. Then we all realized that the pandemic was serious and getting worse, so we discontinued eating at restaurants. My last review was on March 15. Only recently we ventured (equipped with shield and mask) to eat outdoors in some restaurants, where we felt that the conditions were favorable. So now that the weather is pleasant, we went last week for lunch at Sergio's (3252 Coral Way). This establishment has always been a favorite of mine, and it just happens that they are almost complete with a major renovation/expansion. They have taken some parking spaces and created a very inviting and attractive outdoor terrace, in addition to functional and aesthetic changes inside. On a recent visit I ordered the "Tabla Española" which is a board (tabla) with chorizo (Spanish sausage) croquets, slices of Manchego cheese, Cantimpalo sausages, Serrano ham, marinated olives, and bread. Lourdes had the "Frita" which is a Cuban burger made with beef, chorizo, and onions. It is served on a Cuban roll with string potatoes and ketchup. Both entries were delicious and very satisfying. To accompany my tapas I had a glass of Merlot, and Lourdes had a Materva with her frita. Sergio's is basically a Cuban restaurant, but they have evolved with the times. Their menu is limited, but offer you some interesting choices. For example: the "La Flaca" (the skinny one) which are low calories and healthy items. Also, sandwiches as Turkey Pesto, and Cobb Salad. My favorite sandwich there is "The Miami" which has turkey, ham, bacon, Swiss chese, lettuce/tomatoes, Mayo, and served on a hot-pressed Cuban bread. It comes out buttery and delicious. read more

Cuban food is my favorite!!! I've been to Cuba and this place is as close to their food as possible. My husband and I ordered the mojito which were awesome. I ordered the mango (which is my favorite fruit) and my husband always order the original. Theses drinks were on point. The plantain chips were hot and fresh and the garlic sauce they give you are outstanding as well. I ordered the vaca frita de pollo along with morro rice and the fried plantains. My husband ordered the grilled chicken with white rice and black beans. Those beans were superb! Black beans are my favorite Cuban dish. I even ordered a cup of black beans to go. Overall, the restaurant was excellent. I would definitely will return there for my Cuban fix. read more

I was there last night and the service was terrible even though it was not a full house. It took them over an hour just to get utensils and napkins (we ended up getting up from our table and going inside and requesting them). They got our order wrong, the mariquitas were all in small pieces, so we asked for the manager and things got a little better but even then they totally forgot to bring us a tuna salad we had ordered so we canceled. I called an order over the phone and they said it would be ready in 10-15 mins. This order was just for pastry's. I get to the window and the lady tells me she has to go to the back to get the order. She disappeared for over 8 mins. Returns and gives some other customer their order... doesn't tell or say anything to me. Disappeared again. I asked for a manager a guy named Hector comes out, I explained the situation and he said he's personally take care of the order and help me. He disappeared. Another 5 mins later the original lady who said she went to get my order in the back .... over 20 mins since I initially told her o was there to pick up an order I placed over the phone 20 mins ago... it's now 40 mins since I placed the order over the phone for pastry's. Which was never ready to begin with. The manager never even came back out to apologize. The one lady who took initiative and offered me a discount because they didn't have enough empanadas to Complete my order of 4. Every Thursday at the office I start asking around who's going to order from Sergio's with me because it's carne con papas day. Not the perfect Cuban restaurant - but there are some fine things on the menu. Masas de puerco are to die for, the perfect combination of savory life-giving pork and tart citrus. Heavy and light and addictive all at the same time. Yucca is quite superior. Plantains? That's nice dear. Cauliflower rice? Well maybe if it could soak up some gravy or something. A dustbowl by itself. Flans/Custards and the like? Definitely skip. They leave a bad aftertaste in your mouth. But what is good is fine, and if you don't like what you got, don't order that one again. You'll still be well fed. read more

Sergio's is very reasonably priced and I really enjoyed it. Its Cuban food plain and simple. Not greasy, not overdone. Last time I came I was there for breakfast and had the eggs with bacon or ham. So when I asked her for egg whites she suggested turkey in it instead of ham or bacon and that was pretty cool since I was going to tell her to skip either or. I love the fact that the cafe con leche is served separately so you can make your coffee as dark or light as you want it. PLUS I really appreciated how observant she was since she asked if I would prefer Splenda instead of Sugar. I drink it without sweeteners but it was refreshing to see how she paid attention. I was shocked about how the staff working in the outdoor patio threaten the customers with their "taken or leave it attitude". I was never threaten so bad at Sergio in London Mall. I always take Cuban guess to this Sergio. I ordered the Cuban Sampler to start Lunch. I had to get up to get the utensils and napkins in order to be able to eat the Tamal. It was half full what was the reasons for the disservice? When I got the bill she had 22%, 20% and 18% for a horrible service overall. The outside patio staff was the worst. I don't deserve to be mistreated. There had the "take it or leave it attitude" mistreating everyone who approached this two servers. This happened on December 23, around 2PM. It was bad. I went for brunch for the first time today and loved it! I had the eggs Benedict and they added their own Cuban flare! Poached eggs on top of spinach, Serrano ham, and Cuban toast. Yum! The rosemary potatoes were delicious and full of flavor. My only complaint is the service was a tad bit slow but what can you expect on a holiday weekend. Next time I would love to have their appetizers! A table next to me had it and it looked delicious. Definitely a good twist to a traditional Cuban restaurant! read more

This restaurant holds a special place in my heart because my family and I have been going since I was a kid; two decades now. It is good for very specific things and the everything else is just bad quality food. Their breakfast is great. It's simple but the price is great and you get their cafe con leche and their Cuban bread. Next, their tamales, tequeños, empanadas, and croquetas are delicious. Can't go wrong with anything I listed above. My husband has tried the palomilla steak and the fajitas and both are terrible! The palomilla was dry and tough; and the fajitas were just bad. The service is hit or miss when you go and eat in. You never know what you will get. The worse part though: bathrooms. They are so dirty. read more
