I was shocked about how the staff working in the outdoor patio threaten the customers with their "taken or leave it attitude". I was never threaten so bad at Sergio in London Mall. I always take Cuban guess to this Sergio. I ordered the Cuban Sampler to start Lunch. I had to get up to get the utensils and napkins in order to be able to eat the Tamal. It was half full what was the reasons for the disservice? When I got the bill she had 22%, 20% and 18% for a horrible service overall. The outside patio staff was the worst. I don't deserve to be mistreated. There had the "take it or leave it attitude" mistreating everyone who approached this two servers. This happened on December 23, around 2PM. It was bad. I went for brunch for the first time today and loved it! I had the eggs Benedict and they added their own Cuban flare! Poached eggs on top of spinach, Serrano ham, and Cuban toast. Yum! The rosemary potatoes were delicious and full of flavor. My only complaint is the service was a tad bit slow but what can you expect on a holiday weekend. Decent Cuban restaurant, however given it's location competition is fierce. It tries to be more "upscale" and I think their prices reflect this. We usually sit outside which is nice if the weather is good. Only sat inside one and seemed kind of cramped and loud. I typically stick to the sandwiches and their vaca frita is decent, not the best IMO though. I think the vaca frita at the big cafeteria down the street is better, although the atmosphere here obviously better. Overall decent place, decent food, good service. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I also wouldn't hesitate if in the area and want a decent atmosphere to hang out at. read more

I adore this place. So intimate and quaint. I hope it's really family-owned. The area is nice, caddy-corner to a shopping district with Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, etc I got an assortment of their plethora of empanadas: ropa vieja, chorizo, vaca I also got the strawberry milkshake. very good. it tasted like it also had Nestle's strawberry quick in it. Yummy! I got the croqueta preparada, which has pork, ham, pickles, cheese and 2 ham and cheese croquetas. Good. kind of dry, but still good. Some Things at sergios are good, some dishes are not so good. I really only come here for the vaca frita and the empanadas (ropa vieja is my favorite). Those dishes i love. I have the empanadas for breakfast almost every weekend. The rest of the menu is just okay. I do not recommend the palomilla steak. Every time i have had it is a disappointment. Sergios has multiple locations, but i wouldn't consider it a "chain." It's pretty packed at any time of the day. Overall, I am disappointed I paid so much for this sandwich! I love this dish and have always had a wonderful experience. I assumed that everyone was able to make this sandwich. I was wrong. My sandwich was smothered in oil-soaked "crispy" onions and was very dry. There was no sauce even though I asked for extra sauce. Tonight we needed an excellent meal and ours was just perfect! Starting with our server being the best we've ever had. His suggestions were dead on exquisite. The service personal and quick. We did not try their plates but had some empanadas and croquettes as it's easier to eat. Both were very good but highly recommend the beef with plantain empanadas. I ordered the huevos rancheros and the iced coffee. I was lucky to have a great server and I tipped her 40% because of it. I gave this restaurant three stars because the sauce and seasoning on the eggs was fantastic and the server was great however the total overall experience was not good. Initially, I was trying to make the breakfast but with bad weather and the GPS taking me to Sears I made it at 11 a.m. for brunch instead. Let's start from the beginning. First I walked through the wrong door, and ask someone where do I go to be seated. That person ushers over a Hostess to help me and while they find a place for me to sit, I wait by the greeting area. That area is very hectic, there are a lot of servers walking through and I do not understand why they would have the booth at that location. Next, I get seated at a table that was dirty, after asking for it to be cleaned the person quickly cleans the table. I order, the huevos rancheros over hard and the iced coffee. Once I receive my food I get up to go wash my hands and then slip on the water on the floor, luckily falling in my seat. I'm so happy, I didn't fall on the floor. I was very disappointed that the tortilla was burned because I love eating the tortilla with my huevos rancheros. I also prefer my eggs well done and not runny; something I requested but they didn't do. The iced coffee was not sweetened and I did not have sugar, I asked for the sugar and she took the sugar from the table next to me (the family was okay with me taking their sugar.) The server did comp the coffee seeing that I didn't eat the burned tortillas. Parking is adequate, they have a nice sized parking lot. If you are looking for this place and your gps takes you to Sears, it's at 32nd street, next to the McDonald's and across the street from Winn Dixie. A friend recommended this place for Breakfast. If I could give this restaurant a 0 I would. This location is completely racist. I have patronized here twice and neither time did I have a great experience. This time warranted a review. Paid for my food to go, wasn't given a receipt and my change was thrown on the counter (as was the first time) I was then handed the wrong food and the cashier walked away. I waited 15 mins at the counter to be acknowledged (because I had the wrong food) with 3 Hispanic cashiers not one helped me. So I approached the hostess and asked for a manager. Called at 915 and they must have said 5 times I needed to come by in 15 minutes because they are closing. Huge turn off!! They just want to go home early. Like with any and all Cuban restaurants, it is tough naming one as the best. However, this one is one of the most convenient since it is open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays. And on top of that, this place has a sport-casual feel, almost as if it was meant to be a sports bar. It has a fun vibe although I don't think they succeeded that well in a way that Joe's Crab Shack or Hooter's did. The fajitas here? They're not Mexican fajitas. Remember that this is a Cuban restaurant. Fajitas are just fajita steak, cooked Cuban style. The one I make at home is much better though so I can't really recommend it. I've heard many times that the sandwiches here are good, but I wasn't impressed with the pan con bistec. Maybe someone else would be. However, the pan lechon (pork sandwich) is really good. That being said, the pork seems to be good here. The masas de puerco (pork chunks) were tasty - there were several pieces, but I'm concerned about the consistency. One of the pieces was dried out, while the others were just about right. But comparing with other Cuban restaurants, the chunks are much bigger, so I think the chunks would tend to be less dried out here than many other Cuban places. Another thing to try here is their tortilla espanola (especially the one with plantains). The tortilla (here it is called an omelette, but it is really a frittata, which is a pan-sized egg dish popular for Spanish tapas) is huge, yummy, and a great deal. It's a great choice if you want something breakfasty although I don't think it's the best breakfast in town. I probably wouldn't mind coming back with friends to share on this huge tortillas and have some drinks while chatting ourselves away. But really, I like the lunch/dinner a lot more than the breakfast. I also come by here for the coffee, since they have a convenient and comfy coffee and al fresco area even though it fronts the street on one side and the parking lot on another. And the prices, most dishes in the menu are below $10. On Sundays in the daytime, this place is packed. read more

I must of not had any luck today. I was not happy with my food or service. I've been here previously and had delicious meals but yea not today. First off I ordered a Café con Leche with evaporated milk that tasted like the milk was about to expire, not cool because don't mess with my morning coffee man! Second we waited a long time for our meal. The appetizer, Malanga frituras came out with our meal and they were over fried. I ordered an Elena Ruth sandwich that was ok. The turkey deli meat was cold like it had been defrosted. It just wasn't good. Luckily my daughter ordered the Lechon (pork) asado with Cauliflower rice that was actually really good and flavorful.
