The food is quite good, but the service is so slow and clumsy. There are a bunch of men wearing black uniforms with headsets in their ears wandering around aimlessly, yet no one bothers to clear our plates, bring us water, ice, napkins. Nothing. There is only ONE waiter in a blue uniform. this person is responsible for doing everything and he was clearly too busy to care. what is the point of all the staff dressed in black, if they do not attend to tables nor help the customers??? they don't even make eye contact. regarding the food: my husband specifically ordered the Vaca Frita because it came with "Sergio special garlic sauce." This sergio is close to my house i would always come here to eat or get breakfast and always asks the ladies to please not put crackers inside of my croquetas because i find it extremely gross and unsanitary how she touches the money touches de tables touches everything and than goes grabs the crackers and puts them in the same bag( its a women with black and a blonde one) please this needs to stop its extremely gross no one wants to eat croquetas after someone that touched everything puts crackers in their!! Very nice experience this morning at Sergio's. Idalmis, our waitress, was very nice and her service and care for my elderly mother was very welcoming and appreciated. The food was delicious and the establishment clean. All personnel was exceptionally nice and Isandra, the manager, also came by to check on our experience. I really enjoyed my visit to this upscale casual Cuban restaurant! The atmosphere was very nice with eclectic decor, high ceilings, exposed brick and lots of attractive lighting...oh and the food was great too! They have a good sized menu with lots of healthy options for those who are watching their diet and all the classic favorites as well. We had the grilled chicken with a side of rice and yuca from the "La Flaca" menu and I had the Pan con Bistec sandwich a flatiron steak on Cuban bread...all delicious! My favorite Cuban lunch spot. The "La Flaca" menu is GOLDEN. They have "chispa fries" which are fries with mojito +red pepper flakes + sea salt + parmesan cheese and are quite possibly the best thing ever. I order them each and every time. Food is really good but not blow your mind good. Service for dine in is good but only the dine in service. The delivery and pick up service is a disaster. Every restaurant has a bad day, I fully understand that and therefore gave this place more than one opportunity. 2 out of the 3 times i did pickup the order was wrong. And 2 out of 2 Times the delivery was more than 2 hours after we ordered. Don't try calling to find out where your delivery is or get an ETA because this place can't tell you. Although I have breakfast here every morning and I love the jam croquetas and the Cuban cafe and their croissants are amazing too , two days ago I felt like eating Moros with chicken stake and yuca con mojo , I was very exited because I order trough yelp for first time . This is probably the saddest review that I have written. It is depressing because I created my order online, was excited about eating my croquettas for about half an hour before I picked my meal up. and never got them. I have an obsession with croquettas!!!! Let's start from the beginning, I love Sergio's! I used to live close to one and now that there isn't one around I live in a constant state of Sergio's cravings . My sister came into town and hasn't had Cuban food in forever so of course I suggested Sergio's because I needed my fix. We placed our order and when I went to the window my online order had not gone through. This isn't the first time so I feel like the online ordering has a glitch. Anyways, I ended up having to wait an extra 20 min and wrote down the order I wanted and it was still wrong. I paid for food I never got and was left disappointed. The food is delicious but the service and attention to detail is what is lacking here; hopefully dining in will be better in the future. read more

For those of us watching our figures, but still desiring to enjoy Cuban... Sergio's is outstanding. As a paleo subscriber, Sergio's will cook the meal in coconut oil, they'll offer you cauliflower rice instead of regular rice, they'll offer you a café con leche with almond milk, almond butter with your toast, and on and on... I have been a customer at this restaurant for many years and I love the staff. They treat their customers like family and I believe a restaurant such as sergio's being family owned that it would be an important aspect. When I'm low on energy and I need my fix of coffee the Women at the coffee window know what my order is and they always greet me with a smile! Starbucks Pfft... please they got nothing on this spectacular place. I'd rather come here daily where I feel at home and welcomed then to a chain coffee shop thats overpriced and deal with a bunch of teens in Green aprons. Mari at the window is clearly a professional and knows how to serve customers with a smile from ear to ear she definitely deserves a raise just for that Colgate smile! I have met the Owner Blanca as well. I noticed how she treats her employees with respect, professionalism and compassion and it shows through the service. I have never had a bad experience here and the food is always on point and the variety is always changing. This is my favorite restaurant in Miami. If you want good food and good service this is the place to do it. Our waiter Orlando Santana was able to give us the best service and advice how to pairing a good wine with our meal. For dessert Orlando advice us the cheesecake and believe me was out of this world. I placed an order for takeout this morning due to the Covid-19 preventative measures that are in place. I could have elected to have the food delivered but following recommendations to help our local restaurants I placed the order for pick up instead . It was a simple order - three Cuban tostadas, six ham croquetas and two café con leches ( one dark ). The gentleman taking the order repeated it twice to me and we confirmed again that one of the cafe con leches was to be dark ( basically more coffee). Driving to do a pick up food order these days is not a simple task. In addition to making a 10 minute drive, I had to take my mask, gloves and Clorox wipes to wipe down the bags before bringing it inside my home. I arrived at Sergio's , stood in line outside and patiently waited for approximately 15 minutes for my turn to go up to the take out window due to the social distancing restrictions . First some observations while waiting. There was only one person working, at one take out window, so you had to wait in line no matter if you had called in and placed your order ahead of time, or if you were in line to place an order. This is not the most efficient , or convenient way , for customers that are picking up orders. I've noticed that other restaurants have someone standing at the front door ,with a table blocking the entrance, attending to customers that are picking up orders so that they do not have to needlessly wait in line with others that are placing orders. Not at Sergio's so be ready to make a line regardless if you've called ahead and placed an order, or standing in line to do so. The customers were maintaining their distance, and mostly all of them were wearing face masks except for one that I just couldn't help but notice because he was an off-duty Miami Dade Fire Rescue. So here's the employee at the window wearing a protective facial mask, and gloves, attending to several customers that are trying to do the right thing when out of all people who should be setting an example for others, a Miami Dade Fire Rescue in uniform casually walks up to the takeout window, without any protective covering whatsoever talking to the employee within 2 feet of her while placing his order. Now to my food order. Not surprisingly, when it was turn my order was waiting on a shelf, for at least 30 minutes, in a sealed plastic bag. I couldn't open it to check it but I was assured that everything was correct so I would have to wait until I brought it back home. So we sit down to eat. The Cuban tostadas were soggy and cold, but the ham croquetas were good. The Cafe con leches were horrible!!! ;the worst I've ever been served. They both looked like plain hot milk, with minimal Cuban coffee. They tasted awful, and one of them had a hair in it. What a disappointment to say the least, especially after the mission that it took to pick up the food . Is it really that difficult to make a proper Cafe con leche ? What about hygiene? This place can't make a decent Cafe con leche but on top of it I get a hair in it. The food ticket clearly said "oscuro" (dark) next to one of the Cafe con leche. Who is supervising the food staff and operations in this place? Why is somebody making cafe con leches that either doesn't know how to do so or just doesn't care. Pretty awful experience. This restaurant came highly recommended, but I couldnt have been more disappointed. I ordered the lechon asada, yucca in mojo and moros. My entire dinner was delivered to my table stone cold. I made my server aware of this, and ahe offered to reheat my food. I found her solution unacceptable as I have a microwave at home. I won't be going back. read more

What can I say about this classic spot that's been around since forever and only gets better in time. The food there is delicious and the service is pretty good. They now have added a menu called "skinny girl menu" so you can have that Cuban taste but without all the fat but to be honest with you not worth it cause it doesn't have that same Cuban flavors so if your going to eat Cuban food you got to do it right save the skinny menu for your home lolol... My favorite plate is the chicken on the grill with its amazing congre which is rice and black beans cooked together they always add a piece of pork to give the rice that yummy Cuban touch. The desserts are delicious and have a bakery attached if your in the mood for just a Cuban coffee with a pastelito which is a pastry that is a staple in this restaurant. Terrible Service. Terrible Delivery service. In times like this where delivery may be the only safe option they fail completely. They will tell you 30 minutes total when in reality its always an hour or more. I unfortunately don't have a car to pick up my food, so once again delivery is the only option for me. I order my breakfast at 8AM and it was not delivered untill 9AM and everything was cold. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. THEY NEED TO HIRE MORE DRIVERS. My assistant and I usually order for lunch and have never had an issue. The manager was able to refund me my money (or so we will see in the next couple of days) but was rude and as I was waiting to speak to the manager I was hung up on and had to call back. I'm trying to think of a good comparison here...so I guess the best I can do here is describe Sergio's as the slightly upscale Denny's of Cuban food. Yup, I went there. And yup, I'm no expert on Cuban food by any means -- i'm very much a Pacific Northwesterner. But my fiance can and does make me much better food than what I had here, plus other places I have frequented in Miami blow this place right out of the water. This place gets busy -- so service comes off as harried, apathetic, and forgetful. Portions of our orders were wrong or missing, and we were not even able to address these problems until we got our check because our waitress simply disappeared. (They did make up for it with extra empanadas though...) Food wise? Like I've said I have had better. My "spicy" chimichurri chicken was anything but, my beans and rice tasted funny so I didnt bother with them after the first couple of bites....my caeser salad (distinctly not cuban) was the best thing about my meal. And even then it wasn't that great. The nibbles of milanesa, sandwiches and the like left me equally unimpressed. The empanadas though? Well, those were actually really really good. So something going for Sergio's there surely. Portions are large, but for the quality I can't justify the prices. Next time i'll cough up a couple extra bucks and hit up Versailles again. read more
