The carne asada here is really that good. The asada is tender but it also has that grilled flavor and texture that all great asada has. It is wonderful thing to walk in on a taqueria and to see a man with a big cleaver chopping up asada, instead of simply scooping up that which was done earlier in the day, and you get that at Sergio's. The red salsa is excellent, too, with the right amount of spiciness that wreaks havoc on your stomach later. It's really small inside, with only 4 tables, so only about 15-20 people can sit inside, max. It also smells musty in here, and the parking lot isn't really a parking lot - it's like 5-6 spaces right along the curb - you pull directly out your space onto the street. read more

Some of the best and most authentic Mex food I've ever had!! The very definition of a hole-in-the-wall- hard to find, small but worth every calorie. The menu is in Spanish (good sign), and they offer all the choices that Taco Bell doesn't: tongue, brains, tripe as well as all traditional flavored. I grew up on this food. Seriously, I used to ride my skateboard to pick up menudo and tacos for me and my mom on Sundays when I was a teenager. I still hit it on Sundays and pick up food for me and my mom...and in the interest of passing on the family tradition...for my teenage daughter who can eat her weight in tacos de asada (no chile, no cebolla). Here's a piece of advice for the gringos: The way to determine if a Mexican place is all that is by how many Mexicans eat there. I'm half Mexican so I qualify...lots of my peeps from Commerce eat up in this piece. I have a lot of friends that I've introduced to Sergio's friends from outside the area that eat here often. That's a lot of Mexicans ese. This is good Mexican food at a place that's more along the lines of a King Taco than a sit down restaraunt although they have a couple of tables where in the midst of a hangover you can slurp up the life giving properties inherent in their menudo, which is the second best in the area...the best being El Picante's in Bell Gardens, although it was uncharacteristically bland when I et there a couple of weeks ago. Third best at least in the Commerce area is a bit of a surprise...drum roll prease...Ozzie's Diner on the corner of Telegraph Road and Slauson Avenue. At any rate since this is a review of Sergio's Tacos and not the other referenced places, the stuff that in my opinion kicks ass, and this is in addition to the menudo, is the lengua (not for everyone...me? I love the stuff), the green chile and for those rare occassions I have the hankering for intestines..the tripas de leche. Good, good stuff. I recently met the brother of the owner (Commerce is a small town) who agreed with me that the carne asada at King Taco is superior. That being said Sergio's is a good spot. Hit it up yo. You know one of those small-run mexican places where you walk in and watch this big mexican dude chop up some meat fresh off the grill and roll your burrito in front of you and you think "Man this burrito is going to be fucking delicious!" Well, Sergio's is not one of those places. Their meat quality is great, great flavor, great texture, but it's hard to tell because you don't get much of it in the burritos. King Taco SUCK's people. If you want authentic FRESHLY CUT and JUICY MEAT go to Sergio's on Atlantic. I was lucky enough to find Sergio's years ago when we lived in Commerce and it's been my favorte taco stand ever since. I can't understand why anyone would prefer King Taco over this tiny hole in the wall. Stick with the Tacos an burritos here, Carnitas, Asada, Lengua here is really good(they do it right!), cabeza is too as well as the Al Pastor which can't be beat. according to the great taco hunt blog, these were supposed to be the best taco's in the LA area, and though, despite my wide sampling of taquerias in the city i probably don't have the experience to call it the best it didn't disappoint though, the taco's were awesome, so awesome that i had 5 and was contemplating a 6th. i think my gringo ass spanish made it a little harder as well, my first round i went for carne asada, al pastor, and cabeza. I'm pretty sure i got al pastor, pollo, and lengua. I think this is the original location. it's faster than the other place in terms of service. I had their menudo which was just decent. I thought they put too much lime in it. Menudo shouldn't have lime flavoring unless you add it yourself. Parking is tough so you may have to park in the street but it has a large local following so expect to wait in line to order. Maybe I was hungry, but I enjoyed the bean and cheese burrito. They added rice, onions, and red sauce which gave it a nice flavor. Definitely one of my Top 5 Taco joints in LA. The Al Pastor is definitely a must when u come to Sergio's. Surprisingly the Carne Asada was REALLY good too. Not to dry.. One of the Carne Asada Tacos I ordered was a little burnt but the the other two were perfect. I guess it depends on the cut u get. They cut the steak up in front of you as you order. This is my go to Taco place, their asada tacos are the best I've had outside of mexico but I usually lean toward the other meats just because asada is just to .....well asada. Their Al Pastor and Buche are my favorites and their sala's are a great compliment. The place is SMALL so expect to make a line and to scream your order out to the guys making the tacos, don't be shy! you are among fellow taco lovers scream your order out to the heavens! these taco experts are ready to hear your call. Also I should say their Menudo is by far one of the best I've had from any restaurant, and they make it daily! If there isn't any parking in their lot I suggest you park on atlantic blvd in front and to the right of sergios or on Harbor St. Just don't park in the shopping center across from the restaurant the shop owners don't like that and your car might be towed. Food is horrible and the place is dirty. The cashier is rude and the guy taking orders has no customer skills. And any establishment you go to, you expect good customer service. That's what makes most people want to come back most times event if the food is not that great. You go cause you are treated well. Don't give me that you're in the hood thing cause that doesn't mean you treat people rudely. Unless you were raised without any manners that doesn't mean you were raised in the hood. Horrible customer service. When I ordered a carne asada burrito, I noticed that they were grilling a large amount of what appeared to be carnitas. I took longer than normal to fulfill a simple order. When I took a bite of the burrito, I found it was a stale, greasy carnitas burrito. I returned the burrito and reordered the carne asada burrito. The carne asada burrito was not any better. The beef was dry and overcooked. It appeared that the burrito was filled with leftovers. The place is so small an cramped, that the line easily extends past the front door when just a handful of people are standing in line. I had eaten numerous times at this place. But the quality of their food varied greatly. Also, the prices charged for their food were higher on the receipt than what was posted on their menu. I finally gave up on this place. If you like long terrible customer service and disgusting, pesky flies all over your food, this is the place for you. read more

The place is small and has only a few tables, but ordering togo is not bad. It took only 3 minutes to get my tacos. There's barely any parking in their lot, but you can park alongside the neighborhood behind it. They open earlier, not from 6pm - 11pm. I came there for lunch at noon. Their tripas tacos aren't the best. I'm still searching for a great one here in LA. OC still has the best at Brito's Taqueria on Euclid Street though. They take their time to make it crunchy and the seasoning eliminates that awkward taste. The restaurant is small, the ambiance is bad, and the place can get packed during lunchtime, but the al pastor and carne asada tacos are amazing! They use just the right proportion of meat and other ingredients, and the flavors fuse together really well. I've also tried the menudo, and it's really good as well. The portion size for the menudo is very generous. This is probably the best place for tacos in the Commerce area. Tacos were the bomb. I had two carne asada tacos and two al pastor tacos. I had them make it spicy plus got one each of the red and green sauces. It didn't look pretty as I had it to go but it sure tasted yummy. I recommend. It's 1.45 plus tax per taco. Four was enough for me. I was introduced to this place about a year ago and I have yet to find a place that has better carne asada burritos! I live way out in OC but its well worth the drive. We have some ok taco places near my house, but the meat is always tough and dry in comparison. I dunno how Sergios does it but they DO IT WELL! When Sergios get's it right its a great treat. Lately however, I feel that the size, meat content, and proportion of onions and fillers in the lengua burritos is not great. The new drive-thru location on Olympic has been better and more consistent in taste and size. If I want Sergios lengua burritos I'll go there from now on rather than take my chances at the smaller location on Atlantic. It's too risky to spend $6 for a smallish burrito that has too many onions/filler and not enough meat. That said, the meat you do get is still really flavorful and cooked right. read more

People giving this place 1 star because prices have gone up, like we're not in a whole pandemic. Everywhere prices have gone up. This place doesn't deserve a low rating for having to raise prices like everyone else. People complain about customer service but the workers here aren't rude they're just not overly friendly and fake like chain restaurant. This place is ALWAYS packed but you're able to call and place orders and they always answer the phone right away. They 100% have the best tacos in the city and LA county, I've gone to more expensive places thinking they'd be amazing and I'm always disappointed and wishing I'd had gone here instead. Everything is made fresh from the salsa, to the tortillas, to the flavorful meat. I'm not surprised why they're packed every night even tho it's a small spot. At first the B rating on their window gave me cause for concern but after biting into my first Asada taco I knew the B was for BOMB!!!!! Honestly I consider myself a picky carne Asada and Al Pastor foodie and this place is simply DE-LI-CIOUS!!! Coming back for sure! King Taco has been dethroned!! In my opinion overrated! I have tried most but not all of their meats n they are OK, not great (I've had better from street stands). I stopped coming here a while ago but one of my preggo friends heard the big buzz over Sergio's so there we were, I had asada tacos with horchata to drink, the tacos were ok n horchata pretty tasty, but my buddy - oh poor thing- she had an Al Pastor burrito and it was just gross, the tortilla was overwhelmingly soaked in grease n it was dripping, not very tasty at all.
