They build trust by being polite and courteous, but exploit that by then using scare tactics to extract as much money as possible out of you. We have had their monthly service plan for a few years now where they maintenance our HVAC system twice a year. They say you are supposed to get it serviced at the start of each season (heating and cooling). However, scheduling is so difficult that we couldn't get a technician until the middle of January. That's a little inconvenient, but understandable. The real problem came at the end of our furnace service where the technician said he needed at least 10 minutes of my time to explain how our heat exchanger is on the brink of breaking apart and emitting carbon monoxide into the house which is extremely dangerous. He also explained a whole host of other problems with our furnace install that sounded like safety concerns at the time, but in hindsight are just a difference in install methodologies. I was insistent that we just installed this furnace 3 or 4 years ago. And he was insistent that his records must be more accurate and our system was 15 years old. After a back and forth of that discussion, he had me second guessing myself. His only solution was to call his supervisor out immediately to get a price quote. Waiting any longer than that day would only make the price go up. In the end, we waited, got another technician to come look it. They looked at the serial number and verified it was 4 years old with no problems they could see. They also said, if there was a problem, the unit is under warranty. Without even discussing warranty options and only trying to sell us on a bigger unit with new duct work which he said would cost at least $11,000, he completely destroyed all trust in the company. It's obvious this company doesn't care about its customers. They are in an industry where their customer likely doesn't have the required knowledge to refute any supposed safety concerns and they use that with high pressure sales tactics to make the most money as possible, regardless of whether you actually need those services. read more

Fabian and Service Champions provided me with excellent service and I would recommend them to anyone. I had a really bad experience with 2 other plumbers (from a different company) who both gave me a ridiculous quote to just snake a drain and wanted to take out the toilet because they couldn't find the main line / clean out pipe. I definitely knew it wasn't meant to be a $400+ expenditure so I tried one last place and Service Champions did exactly what needed to be done at minimal charge. Fabian was on time, super polite, and took the time to explain to me what happened and even showed me the cause of my drain blockages. Daniel Saldana in the plumbing department went over and above to make things right for us. He came out on Tuesday 11/12 to install a new kitchen faucet, soap dispenser, and air gap. Andrew Grant came to our home to go over previous repairs and installations (latest was a water softener, major under home and kitchen appliance and washer hookups and pipes) He was efficient, easy to ask questions, checked another item, a noisy toilet, and explained clearly there was no need of a repair. I have had this company for years just for the routine service of my heating and A/C and every time they come out they would try to sell me somehting. I never really thought much of it and continued using them becuase they were freindly and nice. A couple weeks ago we had a plumbing leak on a Friday so I called them and they sent a technician out. He inspected the damage (mostly buckling in the wood floor), went under the house, etc. He then called a supervisor. The supervisor came out and within minuted, decided my entire house needed to be repiped. He put the fear of God in me and said they needed to book it right away to prevent futher damage and that they could be there the next morning. He gave me an estimate of 27 THOUSAND dollars. And mind you, repiping is not covered by insurance. He didn't even mention an insurnace claim, just wnated me to sign on the dotted line. Luckily I decided to get a second opionion. I hired a independent plumber, small company, and he came out and within minues, realized the leak was in the attic along the pipe for the A/C condensation. He charged me $375 to fix the leak, and now insurance is covering the damage which we now know is in the ceiling, walls, etc. So to recap, Service Champions were going to charge me $27,000 to repipe my entire house which would NOT EVEN HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND I WOULD STILL HAVE THE LEAK! Also, my plumber friend said the Service Champion techs work off commission, which is NOT in the customer's best interest. Never again. Do not use this company. read more

They get 1 star for showing up the day before Thanksgiving. They lose the other 4 stars for spending 3 hours and not making a correct diagnosis. The Service Champion technician recommended a new furnace when the unit was actually readily repaired by a different company. Service Champion technician said the unit needs $4000+ in parts to be repaired and he recommended to replace it with a new one for $10000-12000!!!! That's for a furnace only, not an AC, in a 1400 sq ft apartment! The next company diagnosed it within an hour and ordered a part. The following week repaired it and charged $900 for it. Either Service Champion Technician was not trained well for repairs or he decided to go for a much bigger commission by selling a heater to us! Either way, disappointed and will never use them again. read more

I moved into my home 10+ years ago, and it had a new HVAC system. I've never had a problem with it, but my Ecobee recently started asking me to have it serviced. So when I learned about Service Champion's $88 tune up offer, I thought why not. My short review is excellent customer service, and work. Pricey... but these are the joys of homeownership. Replacing an HVAC system is the price of a small new car, so I want to get the most of the one I own. I received calls, emails and text messages reminding me about my appointment and notices that the technician was within 30 minutes of arriving. Ivan did my initial tune up and inspection. He was very courteous, taking time to explain what he was doing. My AC unit on my porch needed a cleaning, and he pointed out where it was leaking oil. With regular maintenance I should get several more years out of it I hope. When he crawled up into my attic he found that several of my ducts were not properly sealed and air was leaking INTO my system causing a venturi effect (it's on YouTube) which has been causing my system to be working harder than it should have for years. And years. And years. I wish this issue had been identified years ago, but I'm glad it was caught now. Proper repairs came at a price not for the faint hearted. But I figured it's my home, and I want it in the best working order I can achieve. William and Leo arrived several days later to seal my ducts. They worked efficiently and quickly, and before they left we walked around to the air ducts throughout my house, and indeed I was getting better air flow, and cooler air. Well... except in the kitchen, which has never had great air flow, but I always figured it was because that vent was the farthest away from the a/c unit. Wait... is there any air flow? Later that evening, upon further inspection I realized there was not even a whisper of air coming through the vent even though the others not 15 feet away had a chilly breeze going. I called Service Champions, and they sent Jeff who confirmed that there was no air coming out of the vent, but due to the location of the vents in my attic, he couldn't get back in there to check the issue. So, another appointment was set for William to return. He crawled up into the claustrophobic areas of my attic, identified the issue, and fixed it with no further charge. Every interaction with Service Champions on the phone was professional, and clear. The techs that came to my home (during a global pandemic) were polite, wore PPE, shoe covers and clean shirts. They took photo proof of my issues, and offered to share those images with me for my records. I signed up for Service Champions semiannual service plan. I hope this prolongs the life of my system providing peace of mind. I feel the service they've provided so far is worth five stars, although I still a little stung by the price. Yesterday, we had 2 plumbers, Mike n Malik, do a great job in installing kitchen faucets and garbage disposal n replace the entire fixtures inside of toilet tank. Great personalities, also very professional. We asked about reverse osmosis for drinking water. Malik n Mike explained how it works. Malik explained about our filtered Brita. Tested our double filtered water, n it was bad.. if we're so concerned n doing double filter, he suggested the reverse osmosis system and cost. We decided to install the reverse osmosis. Falsely claimed that our heating systems needed to be replaced. They could give us a "deal" at $21,000+. I thought something was off when a manager appeared with the technician and immediately went into how "unreliable" the older systems were, and used the threat of carbon monoxide poisoning as a scare tactic. He attempted to show me a "cracked manifold" which turned out to be nothing when inspected by a REPUTABLE HVAC company. I recommend calling Ronny Jones instead of Service "champions". read more

June 2022 My half bath toilet was continuously running and my main master bathtub wasn't draining properly (I assumed it was due to excess hair buildup). I called to schedule an appointment and was able to have one scheduled the following day later in the afternoon/early evening. The day of the appointment, I received a call from SCP advising that the technician can arrive earlier in the afternoon which worked out better for me. Garrett was my assigned technician and from the moment he greeted me to when he left, I was extremely happy with his customer service. He found out that my toilet was running due to an odd occurrence that he explained he's never even seen. After resolving the issue, he advised that he will not charge me for that service. I was very pleased with that. He performed both services quickly and efficiently. I am extremely satisfied with Garrett and Service Champions Plumbing. March 2022 My kitchen sinks were stopped up and wouldn't drain. I found Service Champions Plumbing on Google and decided to call them since they had such great reviews. The representative who scheduled was friendly and was able to squeeze me in the following day, which was a relief. The technician arrived and was very friendly. He finished and it appeared to be working, so he left. When I ran water in the sink a little later, it stopped up again. :/ I called the following day to advise that the issue wasn't resolved. The representative apologized and scheduled another technician to come on the following business day. Elias arrived and was very friendly. It definitely took a lot longer, but I was expecting that, as the first technician didn't take long at all. Elias went above and beyond and rectified the issue! He explained how the pipes were built in a less efficient manner for the water and garbage disposal to work properly, but was able to fix the piping as best as he could in order to better function. I'm glad that I can now run water without it clogging up my sinks! It's just the little things! I will definitely use Service Champions Plumbing again for future plumbing issues! read more

They came out to assess my water heater. After Miguel checked it over and his teammate went under the house they gave me a proposal for work. Of course this visit was $20 (even though I pay $19 monthly for their maintenance service). I noticed today that the cover to the outside entry was not replaced. I will now have to wait and somehow check to be sure at of the feral cats or opossums from the area aren't camping under the house. How inconsiderate. I can't get down there to crawl under the house to check. Makes me reconsider my annual service plan. Since my review Service Champions got in touch with me. I appreciate their commitment to service and wanted to update my review. They scheduled for Miguel to return and close up the access point. My first meeting with Hector was for the winter tune up. He was very pleasant and professional and knowledgeable.He showed me step by step. What he was checking and how he diagnosed each checked part of this operating system. He gave me options. And did not try to sell me something. Because of his integrity and professionalism. He showed me ware and problems with different parts. Because of his experience and evaluation. I decided it was time to replace my 10 year furnace. We purchased the Gold furnace. He told me about the membership so I am now fully protected by Service Champions. I asked for Hector to return when the system was fully installed for the static pressure test. Which was outstanding. Absolute crooks! They quoted us $50k to replace our A/C and HVAC units on our two 2 story home, whereas other companies quoted us $10k-$16k for exact or similar models! Out of the 4 companies we consulted with, Service Champions was not only the most outrageously expensive, they're also the *only* company that told us that our ductwork was completely shot. All the other companies inspected the ductwork in the attic and said that our ductwork is fine. Replacing all the ductwork added an additional $7k to the Service Champion's estimate. It all started last year when Service Champions suggested we get a tune-up on our 30-year-old Trane HVAC/furnace. They took everything apart and put it back together. They also took the liberty of placing their company stickers on the outside of our HVAC. These stickers have scare tactic language on them, like "Warning! Do not open equipment! You may void an existing warranty." (See pic). Well, how are we supposed to replace the air filter if we're not supposed to open the unit? (Later, while getting other bids to replace the unit, other sales associates commented on how Service Champions should never have left a bunch of loose wires sitting directly on top of the air filter - see pic.) 2 months later our furnace motor suddenly burned out. We've NEVER had any problems with our HVAC unit ever until Service Champions took it apart and put it back together. They recommended we replace the motor for $600, so we bought a new HVAC motor from them. Then several months later we noticed water leaking from the HVAC unit, despite the new motor they installed. So we had them come out to get an estimate to replace both the a/c and HVAC units, since they were original units from when the house was built. But here's the thing, if you're in need for estimates for a new a/c or HVAC unit, do NOT fall for Service Champion's Dog and Pony show. This is where the tech comes out but then says he needs to come back-- but next time bring his supervisor. This is their classic bait-and-switch sales funnel tactic they use, where they team up on you, (or in this case, my elderly mom who's a widow), and tell you about everything wrong with your units. The tech will "inspect" your coil, compressor, etc., and declare that they're "unsafe" and/or "in disrepair," only for his supervisor standing there to nod and confirm all the lies the tech spits out. Not only will they team up on you, they'll insist they inspect every single room in your house so that you feel they're being thorough and considerate. Towards the end of their inspection, I was in the other room while I listened to West and his sidekick chat up my elderly mom, buttering her up with small talk--so blatantly obviously trying to get on her good side. They do this so that when they drop their outrageous bomb of a price tag on you it (hopefully) won't sting as bad. The pathetic thing about West and his sidekick is that he didn't even have the guts to say the actual $50k number out loud. Why? Because deep down they know that number is outrageously inflated and that it's morally wrong to try to rip people off like this. Luckily for my mom she changed her tune and spoke up, telling West that she had sticker shock. Their instant excuse is that this high price reflects the top-of-the-line equipment. They go on by saying that everything in the proposal is fully customizable and that you don't have to go with the quietest, most expensive unit or add on the additional air purifier, etc. But instead of saying their outrageous number out loud, Service Champions will shove their laptop in front of you so that you see their lousy proposal and read off the breakdown of the outrageous numbers yourself. These men have ZERO morale and no backbone. To further prove Service Champions is an unethical and deceptive company, they did some plumbing on the house a year ago. My mom had signed up for their monthly program to get discounted rates on plumbing services. You pay Service Champions a monthly flat fee of $20.00 and you get discounted rates on future plumbing services. Well a Service Champion plumber installed what's called an accordion slip-joint tailpiece for the guest bathroom drain. Slowly but surely we've noticed bad smells coming from that bathroom. I hired a *real* plumber to come out last month and install a new faucet for the same bathroom. He took one look at the pipes underneath the sink and said that he'd have to re-do everything and that those cheap accordion slip-joint parts that Service Champion put on should *never* be used because bacteria and mold collect in all those little accordion folds within the plastic. Not only that, but this other plumber explained how sewer gas was pooling and coming up through the drain pipes, which explains why the guest bathroom started having a bad smell to it. For replacing our units, we went with Air Care. They install Trane products, which are top rated. read more
