Armando and Arturo came out to assess the job and provide with me with a quote. To my surprise, the price was only slightly higher than the regular remediation company. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability. Additionally, they promised me the job would be completed in 1 day! WOW! This would be best case scenario. The office staff was also very kind and helpful with prompt estimate and response time. Today was the day of the job, I was very anxious and worried due to the fact that my parent's house is very old. The job supervisor, two workers and Arturo came out to ensure that everything would be okay! They did a superior job, kept everything clean, taped off all areas and did a great job with containment! The owner, Ami, presented himself as highly experienced with wildfire remediation and repeatedly warned me that other companies--and even my insurance--would not protect my family. I have two very young children, and I relied on what he told me. Only later did I realize that most online reviews were from people who had phone consultations, not verified wildfire remediation customers. During the project, Ami also told me he was receiving many referrals from my then-State Farm adjuster after I introduced them. Without my knowledge, he brought a public adjuster to my home and was seen on my doorbell camera discussing all the work he received since that introduction. I never consented to my home being used in this way. Haztek initially sent my insurance an estimate over $160,000. After they learned my policy limit was $100,000, the estimate dropped to $84,000, and I was asked for a 50% deposit. I later learned this deposit structure is not allowed for this type of work in California. After work began, contamination increased dramatically. - Initial asbestos levels around 1,000 structures/cm² rose to over 100,000 structures/cm² in the same areas. - Lead levels that were originally within safe EPA limits (one area at 3 µg/ft²) increased to as high as 69 µg/ft² after a chimney sweep. Visible ash remained around the fireplace, in a room labeled as a clean area for furniture. When I asked about the visible ash and the results, I did not receive clear explanations. We failed two clearance tests over two months, each showing higher contamination. While this was happening, extensive demolition occurred, without permits or testing for lead/asbestos despite our home being built in 1974. This included drywall, hardwood floors, cabinetry, tile, and bathroom fixtures. I only discovered it when my doorbell camera showed my toilet sitting on my doorstep causing me to drive home and find total destruction. When I asked why I hadn't been notified, the explanation I received didn't match the dates shown on camera. I was told demolition was due to mold. Two licensed mold companies later performed moisture testing and confirmed there was no moisture problem. The demolition caused major damage to my home. I also have footage of appliances being moved in ways that damaged surrounding floors * Dust/Ash remained on multiple surfaces after work was marked complete. * When I asked what justified their costs being so much higher than companies like Servpro, no specific differences were provided. * PPE usage was inconsistent. When I was present, it was used; camera footage on other days I wasn't showed workers didn't. * Several items labeled "keep" went missing, including irreplaceable baby keepsakes. Smart devices they claimed were non-cleanable later appeared active and used at a different location, with streaming accounts still logged into and used. * Reported work hours didn't match what was captured on camera. Haztek demolished our HVAC closet, which contained popcorn material. No containment was used. I have photos of this material falling into the HVAC system and return ducts. Afterward, asbestos levels in nearby areas tested extremely high. This demolition was not part of the original wildfire or asbestos dust scope. By the time I understood what was happening, our insurance benefits were nearly exhausted, and our home was left with higher contamination and heavy damage. We ultimately discarded nearly all belongings. The impact on our family has been significant. Haztek advertises expertise in asbestos, lead, fire, and mold remediation. When I checked the CSLB website, the listed license showed a general contractor license. I was not able to locate: * A C-22 asbestos abatement license * CDPH lead abatement certification * IICRC fire or mold remediation certification If you are dealing with wildfire or hazardous cleanup, I strongly recommend verifying all licenses with the appropriate agencies, using independent third-party testing, avoiding large upfront deposits, and confirming all scope details in writing. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid what we went through.

I told them no, so they offered to put ProTech Construction in Arcadia on the Job, which I accepted and became one of the best decisions I made during that time frame. The first person they sent to our home was Ivan and his assistant (whose name I unfortunately forgot). They came to evaluate the damage and brought large dehumidifiers which they placed in areas with the heaviest water damage. Both men were very professional and knowledgeable and kept us in the loop during their damage evaluation. Upon completion of the damage Ray Lutynski took over and his task was to evaluate results of Ivan's damage evaluation and create an estimate of the cost to repair the damages and submit them to the AAA insurance adjuster for approval. Ray was a pleasure to work with he kept my wife and I informed throughout the process. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the remediation process and the insurance Adjusters requirements. Once Ray obtained the Adjusters' approval, the remediation task was turned over to Juan Lopez with Ray on hand to revise the approved estimates if required. Juan was also very professional and knowledgeable; he coordinated the reconstruction process which was completed on schedule. Juan accompanied my wife and I when we had to select various items. ProTech Construction also coordinated the packing and storage of our household items. It was a pleasure having ProTech perform the remediation of the damage to our home and would highly recommend them.

Communication between Jarrett and his team including the service tech and secretary was so sporadic. They started by looking at our home for possible mold remediation issues and the tech who came to our home said we could do it ourselves but told us he had to call his boss Jarrett and he shared a lot of things we did not need done. Unfortunately the two other companies we reached out to for mold remediation were not helpful so we moved forward with Protech but once our insurance was involved everything changed. The price changed and the communication was horrible. Jarrett even emailed the claims adjuster saying that "I was calm now" because he spoke with me when really the insurance could barely get a hold of him or his company to get information either. He was so unprofessional. His secretary was very kind and when I refused to speak with Jarrett over the phone she did not push me almost like she understood and this wasn't the first time that had happened. The work they finally did took forever and they left the large fans in our home for almost a week instead of overnight then charged us extra for it. The piece was so inflated and the work was bare minimum. We even decided to have a different construction company finish the job and close the holes Protech made to remediate the mold. I know it is hard to find a good company to trust for help with mold but this definitely isn't the one.

From the beginning, Craig was honest with us about what to expect and told us we would probably be working together for about a year. He was right. Our claim closed just over the one year mark. What I appreciated most was that Craig truly stood up for us. When the insurance company would not commit to temporary housing, he pushed to get us into a nice hotel and made sure our food expenses and overnight parking for two cars were covered until a comparable home could be found. He also arranged for our packing and storage and took away so much of the frustrating back and forth with the insurance adjusters. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. I work for Farmers Insurance at 9900 Lakewood Blvd Suite, 201, Downey CA. For the past 3 weeks we have been having problems with our building roof. Due to the past rain we have been experiencing water leakage from our roof.. And it damaged our entire roof, walls, and floors. Servpro Downey came to the rescue. =) All their crew members are excellent , friendly and very attentive. The Supervisor Diego helped us by protecting our stuff and covering them while they were removing the ceiling and the flooring. It took them about 1 week to remove the ceiling and the damaged floor. They provided extra boxes to pack our stuff and they also protected our desks by not scratching them.They would come to our office periodically to check on us and to see if we needed anything. I am very thankful they were their to help us when we needed them. I am also giving out as shout out to Thom Hoge the owner of Servpro of Downey because he has done an amazing experience, even though we were going through inconvenient timing. I would definitely recommend them 100% and give them 10 Star if I could because they all simple the best. Robert Prestwood Back in May 2013 I had water damage which caused all rooms to be damaged by water. My insurance company sent Servpro downey to do the packing up and storeing I never heard of them, so I watched them do the job. They did a fantastic job of packing for storage. Being I had the choice to pick who I want to do the restoration, I asked Thom do you do restoring and he said yes, I said then I want you to do the restoration, They started restoring. Thom's staff started in on the different jobs and they worked very dillently to get the jobs done in a professional manor. When I needed some information Thom was always available to get it on the phone or in person, When it was finished the whole house inside looked fantastic. in my oppion Servpro Downey is on the top step of the ladder in professionalism. . read more

Thom Hoge pulled up a few minutes before 6:30am with the good news that our home was safe to be occupied, and just needed a good airing out. Thank goodness for Servpro of Downey. We had a slow leak that destroyed part of our wood floor and was later complicated with finding asbestos flooring under the wood. The Servpro team including the movers and Ruby Lopez were just great, a real lifeline for us. STEVE LEWIS was absolutely the best there is! He dried out the area, was very considerate and helpful. smart and kind in a really messy unsettled ongoing situation. I don't know what we would have done without him. I called SERVPRO of Downey because I had found mold after taking down some wall paper. My insurance policy doesn't cover any fungi and I was concerned that mold mitigation would be expensive, inconvenient, and take a long time. Instead, Carl assured me that they would not do anything that didn't need to be done and Steve after a quick analysis took care of it in a single visit. It was painless! Man these guys are the BEST!!! While on a cruise our house flooded. It seeped from the second story to the first! There was a waterfall down our stairs. But they came quickly and started right away. I was not impressed with how the inspection was conducted nor with the inspector, so I called HVR and they came out the same day - took pictures and used technology to measure the moisture level without an inspection fee. They answered any and all questions I had. I had the report of the findings, scope of work, and estimate the next day. I was so impressed with HVR that I emailed them that I accepted their quote. The rep came out, I showed him the areas I needed removed, and we had a good conversation. He gave solid advice and said he'd send over a quote. Three days later, I texted to follow up--to check whether the quote had been sent or had gone to the wrong email. I never received a response. It's now been 3-4 months without any communication. Honestly, he could have reached back out to me and told me the job was too small, or that they weren't willing to take it on. Any form of return communication is always better than no communication. At this point, I'll have to take my (admittedly small) job elsewhere. I'm genuinely disappointed because I was looking forward to working with them again, but the lack of follow-up left me stuck. This company simply flags all of the negative reviews and gets Yelp to remove them. I hired this company to remove asbestos flooring and black mastic, and they were grossly incompetent. I post photos of the loose powder of Fiberlock encapsulant they applied incompetently over an oil-based solvent they used to dissolve the mastic. The encapsulant did not stick, since it is water-based, and oil and water do not mix, right? The owner even said "I see this often", as though in his professional opinion that is the way it is supposed to be. See photos below, wtih the workers' bootprints in it. Well, after asbestos abatement you are not supposed to leave a loose, friable mess on the floor. Furthermore, the solvent they used was highly toxic, and a year later I still have not been able to move into my house because of it. I am posting this for the protection of any other homeowners, so that you can avoid a similar disaster. Yelp had better not remove this review, because this is my experience with this business.

Sean and Brandon were the two that we contacted the most, and they were so helpful throughout our entire process.
