We were severely affected by the Jan 2025 Eaton Fire. My mother and my husband's mother both lost their homes. And we were displaced because we were close to the fire. We shared this with Servpro and instead of having compassion, they took advantage of our situation. This Servpro of Downey cannot be trusted. They charged 3 times the amount of our insurance company's estimate. For months, our insurance company and Servpro went back and forth through 7 estimates, and Servpro refused to budge. After 8 months, Servpro threatened to put a lien on our house--and then actually did it--while at the same time charging us late fees, even though we had NEVER even seen an invoice yet! That is insane! When we finally received the invoice from our insurance company - not from Servpro, we were shocked. It was full of false charges and padded costs. For example, they billed us $8,400 for HVAC cleaning, but no one ever came to our house to do that work--we handled it ourselves. Then we asked about another $30,000 worth of charges for work that Servpro claimed they did. We asked both the insurance company and Servpro to explain the charges. The insurance company couldn't answer because they didn't do the work, and Servpro flat-out refused to answer any of our questions. An honest business can explain the work that they actually did. We were present every single day the crew came, documented the work, and took photos. We know exactly what was done, and the invoice was full of lies. This company operates like a scam, with no morals, no integrity, and no honest business practices. No wonder our insurance company said that this is NOT one of their recommended vendors. read more

Julian and Daniel were so incredibly kind and helpful after a waste water pipe got clogged and burst in the garage. They cleaned very well the garage and laundry area and explained all that would entail including how they would deal with the wet walls tomorrow. Juan Carlos and Alex were SUPERB! I was certain I got water in my attic during the Hurricane Hillary storm. I could hear the water dripping. They came to my house. They finished their previous appointment early so they texted me and asked if it was okay for them to come early. I explained my situation. Juan Carlos tested my entire attic but found no moisture. We were puzzled by this as I could hear the water dripping. To make certain, Juan Carlos got out of the attic and tested every ceiling and ceiling/wall junction in my entire house. How's that for thorough and wanting be certain!! They were professional and clean. Alex explained every step taken by Juan Carlos so that I knew what was happening. Again, they were SUPERB! I had water damage at my house and my insurance company told me that if I use them they will not increase my policy by much. Their crew came and placed some machines to dry the walls and removed some drywalls but didn't really do anything with my damaged floor or cabinets that suffer the most with the water. Another company came in and said that it was biohazard... How did you dispose of the Biohazard? You must have a contract which states who will transport the Biohazard... So where did you dispose of it? Who transported it? you did a terrible job at painting... painted the switch covers... you did not tape anything up... painted outlets and covers... We had an unexpected death of a close family member in our home. This company was hired to do the biohazard cleanup in the wake of our tragedy and to remove the rug and mattress from the room. They left behind a bag of soiled and bloodied clothing that was later discovered by our dog and left furniture in the room that was left bloodied. Items were removed and discarded without our knowledge or consent. The final bill came in at $5000. This is not something that is covered by insurance. Nonexistent customer service, with no compassion or empathy. The job was done in a very haphazard manner and they left the family to clean up what was left afterwards. This is an unusual and terrible circumstance, and should you ever have the misfortune to be in this predicament, I would advise you to seek a different company - even a different Servpro branch, as there are many, to fill your needs. There should be more compassion and attention to detail when dealing with such terrible circumstances. read more

Hi Doug; Servpro of Downey amazing to work with. We have a machine shop in Gardena and had a Covid-19 contamination in our shop, so we needed a disinfection of the shop. Your two technicians did a fantastic job at our company. They arrived right on time as scheduled. We did a walk through and I showed them what we needed done and they took pictures of everything for their reference and for our documentation. They pointed out a few things I did not realize that may need to be done if I wanted. No pressure, so I agreed to some, but not all. They had no problem with that. They did not try to pressure me into doing it, what ever I wanted to do, it was alright with them. They were there to help us, not make sales. I'm very impressed with that. They went right to work and did not waste any time. No stopping to talk, or rest. They came to work. They did a great job in our machine shop. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE! Servpro Downey came out to inspect my house and started demolishing everything in my home due to a toilet overflow back in May. They also threw away all my things even my expensive Gucci bags. When it was time for the insurance to replace my things they said that Servpro shouldn't have thrown anything away because it could be cleaned. State Farm kept trying to talk to the owner Thom Hoge but he never listened. I asked for the inventory from Thom but I never received it. Servpro threw away all of my things and it was never approved by the insurance. Now they won't reimburse me for doing things that weren't approved and that I never agreed to. This company is a bunch of crooks and it doesn't seem like they know what they are doing. They say they work with the insurance but they only complain to them saying everything is my fault. After the Woolsey fires, Servpro Downey was sent to my home to perform some work. Scheduling was easy and the people I spoke with in the office were very nice. The workers who came to clean were polite and pleasant, but they did seem to skimp a bit on the work...such as cleaning the floor AROUND furniture instead of under it, etc. But still..I was overall fine with the work received. My issue comes from what happened today...the day I received the final invoice. After checking it all over, determining it was good to pay, I called up and said I would like to charge it to my credit card. Apparently using a credit card results in a 2.5% fee. If this information had been printed on the estimate or in any way reiterated to me, I would not have put the money from insurance onto my credit card (which I did in preparation to pay them)....I would have kept the money in my bank account and paid with a check. I asked to have the fee removed, and was told that a manager said it would not be possible, I would have to pay it. We all just came through these fires...I was evacuated for 9 days....I watched homes behind my complex burn, lived in a horrible economy hotel with my poor cat for a week, dealt with coming home and having to wear a mask to filter out the nasty air (the air quality is STILL horrible), and now, like everyone else from the area, I'm just trying to make the best holiday season I can and put the trauma behind me...and being charged this $100-ish is pretty much kicking me while I'm down. Please start printing it on your estimates that credit cards will incur a 2.5% charge...I'm sure I'm not the only person who doesn't have $4000 sitting in the bank to pay you. EDIT: While I appreciate a response from management, it's exceptionally annoying that they clearly did not even carefully read my review. I did indeed receive the money from insurance before paying... As I stated in my review, I used and money as a payment on my credit card, so that when I used the card to pay you, it would already be paid on the card. After explaining this to the associate on the phone, and asking that, under the circumstances, that the extra fee be removed, I was still denied... Despite the fact that there was no communication in advance about this extra fee. Again, had this information been printed on the estimate or I had been advised of it in any manner, I would have paid cash. Only would have been $100 to you to make a customer happy Not a major deal, but to me, with everything else that I had to deal with financially throughout these fires, it was a very big deal. Dropping one more star now just because it was your second failed chance to refund that fee. read more

New Years Day we woke up the sounds of cascading water. Broken hose in an upstairs bathroom. Servpro came right over. Tested our walls for water, removed our carpet, set up fans and removed some furniture. Within a few weeks, our home was returned to its original state, but only better! Last week I discovered my water heater busted and had been leaking long enough to flood 1/3 of a carpeted room adjacent to the tank in my home. The water had already made its way up through the walls and was moving fast. The carpet was ruined as by this point every step I took was accompanied by the sound you would expect come from a soaked 2" carpet and padding together. NOT GOOD! I called my insurance company, (State Farm) to find out my options. Without hesitation my agent, Cesar Ortiz, three way'd a call into Thom Hoge of Servpro of Downey to help asses my issue. After a quick intro and brief description of what had transpired Thom knew exactly what course of action to take and was sure to fully explain to me his purpose for doing so. Thom personally drove his equipment to my home and set up a dehumidifier (not the kind you find at Target) and two industrial sized blowers. Thom kept the equipment running for three days till every single millidrop was extracted and evaporated from the floor and walls. Our Insurance company sent servpro to dry up our walls and wood flooring after a flood. They were very fast, professional and thorough. They brought industrial sized fans and dehumidifiers, and sealed up the rooms with thick plastic with a zipper in it so we could go in and out of those rooms.They came and measured the amount of moisture several times, to make sure it was all dry.They were pleasant, knowledgable and easy to work with- I would call them back anytime! read more
